A nice waiter brought us our salads. Started to eat our salads and my husband just about vomited when a bug walked off his plate. Flagged the waiter to come over and he watched the bug walk off the plate to the floor. He got us a new salads. Tried very hard to eat the 2nd salad. After 3 bits I found another bug. Couldn't eat there. Got up and told the waiter that we were done and had to go before I puked in the dinning room. This in no way reflects on the waiter. I could tell that they had not washed the romaine lettuce. Please fix this problem. This ruined my eating for the rest of the evening.

Highly recommended!!!!!…read more Been here several times since moving to SC from NY. Definitely the best place we've found south of Brooklyn. Good is great and even more importantly, it's great consistently. The counter staff is always friendly and quick to get you your food. Everything is always spot on, including their homemade Italian ices. More importantly, those ices are available all year long. For anyone who knows good Italian ices, Cucinella's definitely compares to the likes of Marino's. This place has a great NYC pizza joint vibe. Simple yet awesome decor, my kinda music playing discretely in the background. Low enough to enjoy a conversation over lunch but loud enough to hear. Best of all, you can buy a pie (a pizza pie) whole or by the slice. If you're in the area, it would be worth your stopping in. Enjoy!!!

Keep in mind, NY style isn't even my favorite style, If the pizza is good, it's good. This was meh. I am being really generous with the three stars. It wasn't horrible. I had the cheese pizza because that's the way to tell how good the pizza is. The cheese tasted like Sysco bulk cheese. The sauce has almost no flavor. The crust was bland but not horrible. I think the frozen pizza from Kroger has more flavor. I thought I got covid again it was so bland. I hate to be so critical of a family owned business and I generally don't blast a place I am trying for the first time. The best thing I can say about this place is that they have a variety of toppings, though I didn't try them.

On the rooftop, you order at the bar, take your number, and wait for your drinks and food. Their happy hour menu is pretty solid, and it's 4-6 pm. I had an Aperol margarita, and it was absolutely delicious. I went with the burger because it was on happy hour and looked delicious. The burger was actually really good, and it was packed with flavor. The fries were hand-cut and delicious. They have a couple different aiolis that are top-notch. The meatballs were pretty good. I felt like it was slightly overpriced compared to the average (West) Columbia market for what you get. The waitress was pleasant and she did a great job handling our orders. The restaurant is placed in a fantastic location. You get a view of Meeting St and of the bridge heading into downtown. The inside seating was a lot smaller than I expected so I would definitely take the rooftop whenever possible, but I don't believe the rooftop is open for reservation.

Our server was excellent--attentive, friendly, and consistently checking in to refill waters and ensure everything was enjoyable. We were served fresh, warm bread with butter to start, which was a great touch. For my meal, I ordered the vodka pasta with added shrimp, and it was outstanding. The shrimp was full of flavor and paired perfectly with the rich, creamy vodka sauce. It was easily the highlight of the meal. Although I didn't have room for dessert, my family ordered the tiramisu and cheesecake, both of which looked delicious and well-prepared. You might wonder why the restaurant opens at 5 p.m., but the reason adds to its appeal--they spend the day preparing fresh ingredients to ensure the highest quality dining experience. That level of dedication truly stands out. Overall, this is some of the best Italian food you can find in South Carolina, and it's absolutely worth a visit.
