On a busy evening, you can find couples having date night, as well as families, and some groups of ladies dressed up for a girls night out. A tough place to get reservations for, but after tonight, I understand why. The pimento cheese and shrimp for appetizers. 12oz NY Strip with French fries and cream fried corn with a 16oz hand cut ribeye with mashed potatoes and string beans. We added on 3 scallops and were happy that we did. Everything was delicious, well seasoned, steaks both medium rare and the drinks were made well. Parking is tight so parked across the street at a huge church parked lot. Since it was just before 6pm I and I am by myself I didn't do a reservation. Well walked in and see plenty of two tops open and the hostess made me a reservation anyway. Yes and then asked me to please wait for five minutes and then she would seat me. Sure enough after five minutes almost to the dot she took me to one of the many empty tables. Several were two tops. No by the time I left many were full but still trying to force the reservation issue on a rainy, humid yucky Wednesday night is a bit much. The waitress was very nice and very professional as you would expect in a relatively upscale restaurant. She took my drink order and my she crab soup. The ole fashioned was ok. Not great and if you look at the pix it is a bit short. The she crab soup was thinner than most and had an excessive amount of shell in it. Some rather large pieces. Some shell is to be expected but this was a bit much. The bread for dipping was delicious and the soup had plenty of crab in it to go with the shells. Then came time to order main course. I have had salmon, reddish and tuna this week so opted for the scallops. I asked to swap both sides for a side salad and was told no. They don't do that. Hmmm. Usually for a small up charge yes. I have never been just told flat out no till this evening. She advised her manager said no when she went and asked so I had to choose two sides so went with the green beans and the Cajun coleslaw. The scallops were a bit small but ok. The green beans were delicious. Best part of the whole meal. The Cajun slaw was nice and creamy by a bit too spicy so it was left. We arrived for our 6:00 reservation a little early and we were seated quickly. Seated next to a large party so it was very hard to talk to my husband for our date night. Kimberly our server was friendly. We ordered our steaks well done and were told they would take a few extra minutes which we understand. Received our steaks and they were medium with blood running out in areas. My green beans were very salty. The mashed potatoes look like they had been reheated in the microwave. Our server never came back to check on us or to refill our drinks. I would have sent our steaks back to be cooked longer but there was no one around without getting up and making a scene. We ate the areas of our steaks that we could which was literally 1/4 of each of ours. It was a disappointment and we will not be back. The quality has definitely fallen off. read more

The mashed potatoes were out of this world and the Cajun slaw definitely had some kick to it. We'd probably skip the slaw next time. I got a scallop special with green beans and the fried cream corn. Everything was perfectly cooked and DELICIOUS. The scallops were so buttery and had an amazing flavor. The green beans were fresh and roasted. Our group had a lovely "Cajun cuisine evening" at Private Property. We were seated a few minutes after our reservation time of 6:00 on a Monday. I think we got the last parking place next to the building. The restaurant is about the furthest from a chain-type ambiance as you can get--a 100+ year old farmhouse. All of the dining areas are small, intimate rooms. The interior is very well appointed and clean! Our dining room contained about four tables and had a non-functional fireplace--a relic from a bygone era. While we could hear talking from across the hall coming from another room. Our spacewas very quiet--a welcomed plus! Most of the staff that we interacted with looked to be in their 20s. They were pleasant enough, but but weren't particularly congenial or welcoming, except for our server. She was very attentive and had a nice personality. Toward the end of the meal, a gentleman who was dressed like a chef came by and asked us how we liked our meals. We all responded in the affirmative. We ordered some drinks and a couple of appetizers to share. My friend and I both ordered an old fashioned. A strong concoction indeed; no complaints. My wife liked the voodoo queen, which had lots of peachy flavor due to the flavored schnapps and vodka. We also ordered sangria, and that was good as well. The appetizers we recommend are the Cajun style eggrolls and the fried pecan encrusted pimento cheese. For our entrées, we had the blackened redfish, jambalaya, gumbo, and crawfish etouffee,' the fish was served with creamed corn, and fresh sautéed green beans. All the entrées were of a generous portion, and well seasoned. Nothing was too salty. I would add that they all had the proper authentic flavor. I can't say they were the best cajun food we've had, but very aesthetically pleasing and tasty. We rounded out the evening with a desert consisting of an ice cream topped cookie! The dishes we had looked and tasted good, and the atmosphere is one of my favorites! There are hundreds of nice pictures of the restaurant and the menu items. The ambiance is nice and rather proper. They state that there's no dress code, but as a heads up I'd stick to somewhere around smart casual. The servers are polite and check in frequently. The food was pretty good, and I was impressed with the presentation of their drinks.
