I soooo wanted this place to be stellar. I really did. We had dinner her this evening with my Mom as a part of the celebratory events for her for Mother's Day. We arrived a little early and were seated promptly. I liked that it was quiet and not crowded at all. We almost had to the whole place to ourselves tonight. Our waitress was very kind and accommodating, but I'm not sure what was going on in the kitchen. Our food came out cold. The steaks were not prepared as requested, and for the first time in almost forever, I sent my food back. The prices are rather steep at $48 for a ribeye and $52 for filet mignon, which I think is a little exorbitant and with those prices you would expect for the food to be prepared to perfection. There was improvement when the second try came to the table, but the experience left a bad taste in our mouths about this spot. My sister actually requested that we "not come here again." The salad was good and fresh, and we were not even offered a dessert. I'm not sure what happened with that, but I suspect it is because we did request the check after the issues with the main course. Our fried green tomatoes were decent, but this entire experience could've been so much better. Please serve your patrons hot food. There is nothing worse than looking forward to a sumptuous meal and it being served cold, which is so very disrespectful to our time and experience. read more

Thanksgiving Buffet...never again! The menu is elaborate but the food was not. Fresh fruit display?? A few chunks of pineapple, cantaloupe, honeydew and lots of green grapes. A wide array of imported and domestic cheeses?? Small cubes of Colby, cheddar pepper jack and a very few others. Hot crab dip...served with tortilla chips??? Salad bar?? Not quite...some greens with a slim choice of tomatoes, cucumbers, and cheese. Definitely the most limited "salad bar" I've ever seen. Lost your salt box?? I found it. The dressing was extremely salty. The ham was salty with none of the promised glaze. The corn was definitely canned and tasted like plastic, absolutely no flavor. The "maple glazed" sweet potatoes were just roasted chunks of sweet potatoes with no taste. How can anyone mess up roasted sweet potatoes?? I asked for hot tea and got served lukewarm water in a paper cup, like you'd find in your hotel room. I asked for a glass of water and never got it. On a positive note, the boiled shrimp and deviled eggs were not bad. For almost $100 for two people, this was very pathetic. read more

Terrific Mothers Day brunch today. Excellent service, positive staff and well presented food selection. Fresh made to order shrimp and grits to start. Fresh peeled shrimp, oysters on the half shell, shrimp salad, cheese tray and deviled eggs up next. Tossed or Ceasar salad next and then on to the main buffet with seasoned string beans, potatoes, Mac n cheese, fried chicken, braised beef, poached salmon and carved prime rib station. All excellently prepared. Full desert bar with multiple selections to finish off. The only full course buffet remaining in Columbia. Great food and service. read more

**Warning for those who are contemplating Thanksgiving Buffet this year.Very Very disappointed in the Thanksgiving Buffet which we went to in 2021**. First off, even though we had reservations for 1:30 we had to wait in line as they let people slowly into the auditorium (more on that later) party by party. We waited for 20 minutes. When we were finally seated and went to the food, The prime rib was gone, the shrimp was also gone and the ham and turkey were on their last legs. But they had plenty of gravy! The sides were OK, nothing special. The complimentary Bloody Marys and Mimosas were also OK. The desserts were OK too. Even though they ran out of beef, ham, and TURKEY, for God's sake, they still charged the full price (an exorbitant for what you got $42.00 each.) Being a Thanksgiving buffet, I expected it to be an all-afternoon affair, but it looked like they were starting to close down at 2 pm. They knew exactly how many people were coming, how did they run out of food? I figured 1:30 was pretty early for a Thanksgiving feast. Had I but known. To add insult to injury, the buffet is not in the restaurant but hidden away in a back conference room. It was like eating in the school cafeteria. No signs directing you to the proper place. I had to interrupt some employees in the restaurant having a conversation and they nicely told me where to go. It was uncomfortable and awkward and not the way to treat your guests. I've stayed at this Doubletree location a handful of times but Thai was my first time dining at The Columbo's restaurant/bar I have to say it was delicious I ordered the souther fried chicken sandwich topped with Cheddar cheese, tomatos, lettuce, and pepper mayo with a side of hand cut French fries! Great service sat at the bar and the bartender was super friendly also they have one of my favorite Sauvignon Blanca (Kim Crawford) very convenient didn't have to travel far to get decent food and great service! read more

The food was honestly good but the service was appalling. Dirty dishes sat on the table for 4+ hours while we met for a business dinner. There were not one - but three bugs - that looked like baby roaches ran across the table. The bartender paid us very little attention and our food took 46 minutes to arrive. First time eating here. Tried the Southern Fried Chicken. It wasn't like other fried chicken recipes. This one included some sweet things - candied pecans in with the vegetables and a little bit of raspberry jam. Also had some Spoon bread muffins. Stuffy, overpriced and over thought recipes. I got bacon wrapped meatloaf and it had flavors I would never associate with meatloaf. Broccoli didn't seem very fresh. Young waitress seemed annoyed that I was there even though the place was almost empty during dinner rush hour. She wasn't quite rude but wasnt about to go out of her way. Ate here for dinner as we got in late from driving all day and didn't have the energy to go back out. I got the Southern Fried Chicken Sandwich which is topped with bacon and housemade pimento cheese. The concept is great but the execution fell a bit short. The fried chicken lacked both spice and crispness while the pimento was a little bland. The fries were also a bit soft for my taste. If you're just there for a drink, they have a Old Fashioned Uncle specially cocktail that was surprisingly good for a hotel bar. read more

Surprise Buffet Breakfast. Not my favorite because it is usually not great. This was no exception. But the staff was curteous almost overly nice. My wife and I got off the plane from Oregon and needed a bite and bit of booze (Mimosa). We saw that Columbos had a full bar. We glanced at the menu and went in only to find the bar closed and nothing on the menu available. We would have left if not for the persistance of the hostess. Hungry and a bit out of it we loaded plates with warmer tray biscuits and gravy, spoon fulls of a sort of egg loaf and grits that my unkowimg wife thought was mashed potatoes. We scarffed the bland food happy to have something warm and fillimg. But then we choked at the $15 a piexe buffet price. We should have known better. read more

Do not let the word Italian fool you in the name of the restaurant --- Columbo's is pretty much you standard American Fare - but good nonetheless. Columbo's is the nice restaurant that make you feel like you are eating in a five star restaurant, but not paying the price of a five star restaurant. You can get anything from salads to burgers to steaks. And they do have a breakfast bar for breakfast time. The layout of the restaurant is nice -- they even have a little room sectioned off in the middle of the restaurant if you have a not-so-big party dining there. Even hough Columbo's is attached to the Doubletree Hotel, you do not need to be a guest of the Doubletree to eat there. They even have their own entrance from the outside so you do not have to go through the hotel lobby to get to the restaurant. As i mentioned, the restaurant is located in the Doubletree Hotel located on Bush River Road right by I-20. From a visit a couple of years ago, i remember some people had put the address into their GPS and somehow was directed to somewhere else. Not sure if any information has been updated since then, but just keep in mind that the restaurant is located in the hotel. read more

Very nice staff, but food is nothing to write home about, plus pricey for some items. The Philly I had a long strand of dark hair which cause me to just pay my bill and be sickened for the rest of the day. The server gave a half-sincere apology and quickly grabbed my tender, plus generous tip, before I could change my mind. No manager came out to ask how things were. Unfortunately it's the only close place and I don't have a car because I'm here for business. Did not sit at the bar because the same bartender was working. I got the farmers plate which was supposed to be meats, cheeses, mustard, grilled bread, etc. It had 4 see through pieces of a baguette that were over grilled. Two pieces of prosciutto and some mustard! Totally not worth the $14. The waitress was nice but she seemed much friendly to a guy that came in that they all seemed to know. Hotel is nice. Staff really nice. Bartender supper nice. Food came out so fast!! But it was not good at all. Had the fried green BLT. there maybe was one piece of bacon on the whole sandwich. The fried green tomatoes where mushy they toasted only half the sandwich. One lettuce leaf. I didn't even know was in there. And the red tomato was mush it was one step from rotten tomatoes. The onion rings are from frozen. Would have been fine. But they let them thaw out then fried them. That made them taste horrible. Sorry can't find any thing good about the food. Dropped in here by chance when staying at the DoubleTree by Hilton. This is a hidden gem of a place, not to loud or busy although happy hour seemed good with local people and hotel guests. I can't remember the exact prices for happy hour but I was impressed even for a hotel, there was an interesting feature drinks, it was an Irish Apple Whiskey Mule and Irish coffe severed with whipped cream and a minature cookie. My friend and I had dinner I had the fillet my friend had the Salmon, the service was great, the food was impressive I can tell that this place cares about presentation. Next time I'm in Columbia I will defiantly put this one on my list. read more

I have only had their hot wings...twice. Both times they were awesome and huge. I wasn't able to finish them in one sitting either time, but I felt that the price was a bit steep. Six wings for $12. They are in the DoubleTree hotel. I had a grilled chicken Cesar salad or that is what they called it. Salad was all iceberg, chicken had pink parts and dressing was sub par like store bought. For $17 you would expect a real Cesar with normal romaine lettuce and properly trimmed and cooked chicken. We wanted a nice sit down dinner after driving through the rain all day. Thanks to our nav system we found it with no trouble, inside the Doubletree Inn. The decor was nice and inviting and we selected a booth in the almost empty restaurant. We ordered a calamari appetizer which arrived shortly, swimming in grease. I ordered the "favorite" breaded shrimp which was over cooked to the consistency of leather. The accompanying onion rings were burnt, dripping with oil and inedible. My husband's Philly cheese steak sandwich was on a doughy roll, bland and unappetizing. I would only reccomed this place if you want some food with your grease. Staying at the Doubletree on business and have eaten here twice. First time I had the salmon dinner and second night the sirloin steak. Both delicious. Highly recommend the sirloin. They gave me a VERY generous cut, which was enough for another meal! Staff is extremely friendly and make you feel comfortable. With the lack of restaurants in the area (besides your usual chains), I highly recommend coming here. read more

Awful experience. First we ordered sweet tea and was brought unsweet. That was an easy fix. The side salad that came with our meal was brown wilted lettuce. I ordered the meat lasagna...it was edible but I could tell it was not fresh made but a heated frozen meal. It tasted similar to a lean cuisine frozen meal. A $16 lasagna should be fresh made. My husband got the New York strip and it was very tough. The Brussel sprouts that came with it were very bad too. My husband was honest and told them how bad it was and they did take the steak off the ticket. The kids meal of hamburger sliders and fries was pretty good but over all we were very dissatisfied. read more
