We did dine-in to celebrate my birthday. The ambience remains awesome and they had live music, which was very enjoyable. We have gone to this establishment for years and were a bit disappointed to see how limited the choices are with entrées. I had the Caesar salad with salmon. I did not care for the dressing, as it was not the normal Caesar I am accustomed to. My husband had a salad with steak. He thoroughly enjoyed his entrée and was pleased, discovering it to be ribeye. Great service here and Alyssa was the best delivering great service.  In fact she could be the twin for Kristin Chenoweth. We started off with some fried green tomatoes.  Everyone does their little twist on them and this place did the same.  Personally, I am good with them as is and maybe some remoulade for dipping.  Here they had a pepper sauce that came with them and cheese melted atop the FGTs.  Not bad and nothing killed or overpowered the flavor from the FGTs.  However, I did wish that the pepper sauce had a bit more kick.  I cannot remember the name but the drink of the much was a peach based drink.  It was good and it was not just some peach flavored alcohol but it was made with peach puree.  They had me at peach when she ran through the specials.    For the main entrée it was the ribeye at a medium rare with fries and asparagus.   You get a choice of a bordelaise or garlic aioli to accompany your steak or whatever you want to dip in it.  Steak was cooked to the medium rare as I requested and that is a good start because we know there those places that consider what you ask for as just a suggestion.  Good flavor from the steak with no need for the sauce as I found out and I just enjoy asparagus.    Good experience.  Despite this being my first time here this place gave the vibe as a solid choice.  One of those places where when you are unsure of what you want but don't want to risk something new because you are hungry or with someone who cannot come to terms with their food desires.  This is a that old, trusted place you can rely on when you are hungry and good service.  A first experience that went very well. read more

Oh, this place CUTE cute. I was trying to figure out a place to go for lunch this past weekend that was good for a quick bite but also had some OOMF to it right? Ofc I scroll through Yelp (as one does - literally hi friend!) and one of the top rated is The Bistro. I whip on over there and, albeit confused with the parking sitch (you can park in the back and go in through the side where the restrooms are, or you can go in through the front? Yo no sé.) I was greeted by this gorgeous host who promptly sat me and a drooooopp deeeeaaaddd waitress Annie T, don't get it twisted, came with the suggestions and shoutouts I couldn't be more excited to get. I decided on The Bistro Bee Sting (yall, I mean come on.. look at that photo. DELISH!) and a turkey melt with some cheese grits as a side. So friggin good. A bit expensive but honestly 10/10 will be back. And GET THE BEE STING! I'm still drooling. 8.4/10 only because of price, but service, ambiance, and flavor were all 10's. read more

I happen to love their salads and the waitresses are eager to please. Ambiance is pleasing.

The service and atmosphere are WONDERFUL. The food quality...not so much- especially for what they're charging. If you're gonna be fine dining and charge for it, you better be serving fresh food- not from frozen! Otherwise don't offer it! Stay away from the swordfish- it's frozen. And PS there are no salmon the the Antarctic-it's a farmed salmon brand from Chile- so most likely also frozen, but they did say their salmon was fresh so perhaps I'm wrong on that. But we were very disappointed as we had high hopes. Oh well, hopefully things will improve. But I'd go back for drinks and a salad just because the people and atmosphere were so great. read more

Im not sure what has happened to The Bistro but the food has been slowly declining especially over the lunchtime. The menu is now really small but the prices are incredibly high especially for a salad. $30 for a lunch time salmon salad, which was ok but nothing special, but it was just too much for my wallet. The service was great, I have never had poor service here but just cant justify that cost for a lunch option salad. I will be back again in the evenings but will need to find an alternative for lunch time sadly. read more

We're in town for a couple of days and this is the first time we've been to The Bistro. We arrived just as happy hour was ending, the bar was slamming full, but we were easily able to find a seat at a little high top table at the back where the wine wall is. Pretty stellar too as it gave us a nice view of the whole restaurant and the ambiance. We started with a couple of cocktails, G tried a new bourbon , the Window Jane, Baby Jane on a rock. He liked it. I thought it was bright and sharp but Gary has more of a refined pallet for bourbon than I do. I had a spicy margarita, with house-made mix. Good, but could've been more spicy. The Lavendar Haze is a winner as is the Peach Old Fashion which boasts a house-made peach purée. For appetizers we had the Balsamic Poached Pears with Burrata and we split a wedge salad, both of which were pretty darn good. They were out of fried green tomatoes which I would've loved to try as I'm missing true southern pimento cheese these days. Oh well. The bartender Katie, who was also taking care of the outliers like us, was attentive and informational and so sweet. G and I split the Chilean Seabass entrée which was absolutely delightful. The flavor of this beautiful fish really comes through, the chef is magical in keeping the natural buttery notes and clarity of this fish while doing a beautiful char on top. Nestled on a bed of cauliflower butternut squash risotto and topped with a luxurious yet simple accoutrement of spinach pesto, this dish shines. G commented that if someone proclaims that fish is not their dish of choice, they should be brought here and be happily enlightened. Took back to the hotel a decadent slide of coconut cream pie, which proved to be a mouthwateringly perfect late night nibble as well as an exciting morning coffee pairing. Super Duper. What REALLY blew my mind though was the trio that was playing their Thursday night gig with a little tiny female base player named Delany who was totally driving the groove. Lord have mercy, South Carolina how much do I love you!!! Apparently they like us here too as we received gratis a chocolate Jell-O shot which is homemade by the owner's mother. Came here for the first time and was honestly a bit disappointed. Our reservation was at 8pm, but we were told they were out of shrimp, salmon, only had one ribeye, and just a few half chickens left. On top of that, there's a $4 charge for any substitutions, which didn't feel great considering how limited the options were. The waitress was super nice and friendly, and the manager did offer free appetizers, which I really appreciated. The atmosphere was nice too -- live music and a good vibe overall. Just disappointed that so many menu items were unavailable. Hopefully next time there's a better selection, because the place itself seems like it could be really good. read more

I was a tad disappointed to learn that the restaurant sandwich menu was not available even though the sandwich photos are what attracted me online to visit this restaurant. We celebrated a birthday here with a group. The little lights on each table create a cozy and intimate atmosphere. Service was excellent, and everyone's food was nicely plated, with generous portions, and very fresh. The chili lime shrimp in particular were huge and so good! Hub said his salmon was cooked perfectly. I also recommend the fig margarita with sugar on the rim for a sweet and salty treat. Ate at the Bistro a few weeks ago. The special was Beef Bolognese. (Supposedly). 1 TBS of meat in the sauce, if that much. What really annoyed me was I ordered a Hendrix G&T with cucumber. I was served my drink with two thin cucumber slices in the bottom of the glass and a large lime wedge on the rim. Really? When I got home and looked at my receipt, I realized I was charged $2.00 for the cucumber. And no, our server never checked back with us to ask about our meal. I will never go back. read more

The Bistro is located perfectly from the interstate; easy to locate with adequate parking. We made reservations on open table and was seated upon arrival. The restaurant has plenty of space, beautiful ambiance, including patio seating, and live music. The live music was definitely an added bonus. Our waitress was attentive, provided recommendations, and was welcoming. However, the food was not the star of the show. We had Rockefeller oysters for appetizer. We didn't enjoy them and order fried green tomatoes next. They were a hit! Our entrees included catfish and grits & lobster ravioli. We would rate the food 7/10. I have been here for lunch twice and have enjoyed it both times. Customer service is amazing. The food is enjoyable as well. I ordered the steak, and it was cooked exactly like I requested and full of flavor. I enjoyed the french fries. The burgers were delicious. We Ubered to our reservation @ The Bistro on Friday, at 6:15 pm. We started off with mixed drinks and an appetizer, then ordered our main entree, which was a large steak with an extra side, that we split. Before we were able to finish eating our main course, we assume "the manager/owner" (who was a lady with gray hair and olive skin), came to our table uninvited and unwelcomed. She lifted my plate up off the table, and threw a to go plate in its place. She caught me off guard, and it wasn't until I began to empty my plate into the to go box, did I realize, how terribly rude this lady's gesture was??! We were siting in the open section of the floor beside the bar, at a table with only 2 chairs. The entire restaurant saw what she did, and it was embarrassing. There were other tables available for people walking in to be seated. Why did this person choose to single me out and be so damn rude? We mentioned the episode to our waitress, hoping for an answer, however, the waitress was not helpful, and who also was rushing us, but why? Even after the unpleasant mishap, we continued to order drinks and even desert....However, their customer service got even worse as more time passed. We felt so incredibly "UNWELCOMED", that "WE" offered to go sit at the bar if the waitress would find us 2 seats, but she did not. At this point, we had dropped $140 on our tab, and I was still hungry??! I felt so mad about the lady taking my food when I was trying to eat, that I left the "to go" box on the table, as I DIDN'T PAY AN UBER TO COME EAT TAKE OUT IN A BOX! Needless to say,our evening was ruined by the atmosphere and the disrespectful treatment endured by the staff @ The Bistro. Next, we promptly exited the restaurant and sat in their outdoor seating with heated tabletops, where we waited for our "scheduled uber" over 30+ mins to pick us up. Would have even nice to have been offered a drink while we waited, or even a glass of water! We were ignored like a red headed step child??? Don't patron this establishment unless you like being treated "differently" for no reason. We observed the rest of the evening, and NO ONE else had their food taken off their tables and thrown a to go box. This was so out of place and so unnecessary, but that's neither here nor there, seeing that this establishment will NEVER see us back there- EVER! The owner seems to have control issues and wants to control how long a patron can keep an appetizer or main meal on their table to consume? Really? The owner needs to control their outdated bathroom facilities- I had to hold the toilet handle down 15 secs to make it flush- hgross! My fiancee and I love coming here! He brought me today for my birthday and everything was amazing! The seating is perfect The service is always great, the food is to die for. Tonight we had the jalapeño cheddar hushpuppies to share, I had the blackened salmon, he had the smash burger. They were all so great. Our wonderful waitress brought me a whiskey banana chocolate chip bread pudding with ice cream and 2 birthday candles on top! We were on our way to a welcome party but the food wasn't what we would eat so we stopped in here! Oh we were out of town drs too. Of course we were dressed up and slightly over dressed for this place. It's in a strip mall but don't let that fool you! The food was excellent. Best fried green tomatoes I've had. Our waitress was very nice and helpful the bolognese was enough for 2 of us with bread. Yum The pork dish my husband had was also very delicious. The Bistro has become a favorite spot since we moved to SC. The menus are seasonal and the food is delicious and never disappoints. The ambiance and live entertainment is an added plus. Tonight we met the manager -Nick -who spent extra time helping us choose our wine, and even introduced us to some of his favorites from Spain. To top it off, he provided us with a handwritten list of his favorite spots in Columbia/Irmo, SC knowing we are new to the area. Went here for lunch with my husband. There were 3 other tables of people who were already there and empty (lunch service was ending) so we were the only ones ordering. One of those tables qas a large party of about 10 people, therefore our waiter forgot about us as he was trying to close out their tab. I asked him to send someone over to take our order- so we waited over 35 minutes just for our order to be taken in a practically empty place... I was hungry & upset. Our food took quite some time as well which we didn't understand because we were the last order coming out-of the kitchen.
