Lobster and Gouda Mac and cheese

I came here to celebrate one of my good friend's birthday. We were a party of two and arrived as soon as the restaurant opened around 5 pm. This restaurant is located in 5 points, which is normally pretty busy; however, we were able to locate a parking space pretty quickly for a Sunday. The restaurant is located on the 2nd floor, so you will need to climb up a flight of stairs to access the restaurant. I hate that I forgot to take more photos, but the decor is very charming and nice. We were greeted by the hosts who were very warm and walked us to our table. Our server was fairly new but nice and answered all of our questions. This restaurant does not sell bottled still water, only sparking or tap. I have a very sensitive palate to water and ended up ordering a sprite. I started off the dinner ordering the sweet and spicy friend oysters which were accompanied with a sauce (maybe chipotle mayo) but both were very yummy. For my entree I ordered the shrimp and grits, which is tomato based and my friend ordered the sweet tea pork chops, which comes with a side of butter beans. I have had shrimp and grits with tomato's based sauce before, but honestly I wasn't excepting the amount of tomatoes in the grits. It was very loose and soup like, which I wasn't used to. The shrimp were seasoned to perfection and cooked nicely. I did not try the pork chop, but the presentation was nice! We also ordered the lobster and Gouda Mac and cheese which is 5 stars! The pasta was creamy and rich and there was plenty of lobster! Well worth the price! They also helped us end the night with a glass of free champagne for my friend's birthday!

Had dinner one night while in town. We had reservations at 7:30, and they are highly recommended. White table cloth dining, an open interior with high ceiling and a long bar on one wall. We were greeted by the hostesses upon arrival and seated within the same moments. This is an elevated dining experience. A concise menu, well executed. After giving the menu a once over we started with the Fried green tomatoes, because thats what you do. An elevated presentation, beautifully prepared and very good. A really nice flavor and texture, they were a good start. Next we went for the local cheeses board, another solid choice and a wonderful assortment of profiles, textures and compliments. For entrees we both had the Tilefish, also a solid choice served "Oscar" with crab on top over a risotto with garden peas. Cooked beautifully and so tender and succulent, it was a really good choice for dinner. Along with an ala carte Yukon gold fingerling truffle potatoes, they were also quite tasty and a nice additional to our meal. 4 Stars a solid dining choice, worth the effort to park. Reservations necessary most nights. 01082

From the moment we ascended the stairs into the dining room, till the time we left about 2 1/2 hours later, the service, food and ambience were excellent! We were especially pleased with our server, Elena. She is personable, helpful, and was responsive to our needs. She is someone who enjoys her work and does it so well. We skipped the appetizers and ordered some cocktails. They're a little pricey, but my old fashioned was quite large and very tasty-- one of the best I've ever had! Out of our group of six, all of us had steak, four fillets and one ribeye. One member of our party, a frequent diner at Saluda's, is a vegan and they prepared a very nice vegan meal for him. My entrée was cooked perfectly and was one of the best steaks I've had in recent memory. The outside was charged nicely. The flavor of the meat was superb, and it was cooked perfectly. Those who ordered filet, were very pleased with both the tenderness of the meat and how they were prepared! We also ordered a bottle of Italian red, called Cum Laude; it had a nice smooth mouth feel, a rich, jammy flavor, and just the right amount of tannins. Our sides, whether fingerling potatoes, asparagus scallops, or mashed potatoes, were seasoned well and cooked perfectly. All in all, a great dining experience!

Three of us celebrated my 70th birthday here this evening. I had the absolute BEST pork chop of my life here tonight. Wife enjoyed her scallops and mother in law had shrimp and grits. All of us were extremely pleased with our selections. Grace provided us with amazing service and all three of us agree that we will return another time to celebrate another special day...

Decided to try this when in town for business - very good! Once in the front door, you do have to walk up a steep flight of stairs, leading into a big open dining room room. It can get noisy, which is why they request no small Children. They also have balcony seating for when it is nice outside. Great location. Service was excellent. I went with the pork chop which was a great decision. Crème brûlée for dessert. Good stuff.

I recently tried Saluda's for the first time during Restaurant Week. I would like to say the service is great and the food I ordered was great. The beans may throw many people off, however they were very flavorful. The restaurant was clean and aesthetically pleasing.

I had the lamb shank with mashed potatoes, collards: the winter cocktail (forgot the name) and I tried the fried green tomatoes, and I had a bite of the cheesecake. Everything was 100% perfect. I enjoyed my meal from start to finish. I was expecting more of a sweet cocktail but it was terrible either. The lamb was the star of the show. And the collards had the perfect balance of sweet and heat! The service was excellent. I came here with a group of 4 other co-workers and our waiter treated us all with respect and everyone's order was delivered with accuracy. There were no complaints from the table. The ambiance is perfect for celebratory dinners, birthday, date nite, or just because you want something different. Parking can be a mess depending on the day of the week you dine, but the experience overshadowed that. This is a place I would definitely come back to, to enjoy a birthday dinner or when I'm in the mood for something upscale.

Classic hospitality at Saluda's. The beverages are well crafted and the food is delicious. The second floor location gives you a little oasis above the street, although be careful on the stairs! The wait staff is well trained and friendly without being ostentatious, which I find increasingly rare. My favorite is the fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese because then I don't have to choose between the two southern classics. The rack of lamb on my last visit was perfectly prepared. We hope to return soon!

In all the years I've been living here I've never been to this restaurant and man have I been missing out. This place is absolutely amazing. Beautiful inside with a gorgeous elevated porch. Food was outstanding. I think I could have made a meal on the Mac and cheeses on my wife's plate. Steak was cooked perfectly with an excellent char. I highly recommend coming here.

I had high expectations given the pricing and reputation, but the experience was deeply disappointing. The presentation was lack luster and the food itself was incredibly disappointing. The Mac and cheese reminded me of box Kraft shells and cheese with bacon on top. The butter beans looked like the chef just opened the can and dropped them onto the plate. Even the pork chop was mediocre. I was asked how I wanted it cooked cause they usually serve it medium. Really pork medium? For a restaurant to position itself as upscale, the quality was shocking poor. Simply unacceptable!

This was my first time here and the food and service was top tier! Me and my date enjoyed everything including the ambiance, we will be back!

When I walked in, I was amazed at what I saw inside, as it definitely was not what I was expecting (and I mean that in a good way!). I loved how dimly lit it was inside, which was complemented by miniature lights that were strung from the ceiling. Speaking of the aforementioned change of pace, I also appreciated how there were no TVs inside, which created an intimate atmosphere that focused more on conversing with your friends than watching whatever may have been on TV. Finally, as someone who always pays attention to a restaurant's artwork... I absolutely LOVED the artwork that was on display at Goat's. They had so many cool pieces of eclectic artwork, that you could almost consider it as much a small art museum as a restaurant. My favorite art piece is kind of hard to describe, but I guess you could say that it was of a God-like man in a suit controlling somebody who was playing golf. (I know, it's hard to describe, but like I said, it's eclectic.) My one (1) downside to Goat's, and the only thing keeping it from a five-star review, is that the bartender and servers were all pretty rude and arrogant. This is speculation, but maybe Goat's is one of those places that considers itself a "regulars" bar, and isn't very nice to people who aren't regular customers, but the three (3) employees I interacted with weren't all that inviting. All in all, Goat's was a great experience, and if it were an option, I'd probably give it something like 4.5 or 4.8 stars if I could. If the servers were a little less full of themselves, or maybe just in a better mood, I'd consider it a five-star experience. Nevertheless, Goat's was a great experience, I'll definitely be back, and I'd recommend that anybody stop in if they're looking for a unique experience in Five Points!

In addition, my waitress was nice, but I would've liked it if she was a tad more attentive. Although I didn't drink on this occasion, I've been to Publico in the past, and I will say that their margaritas are much better than comparable Mexican places. So, perhaps if you're looking for a Mexican place that has good drinks rather than great food, Publico seems like a nice option. As for the ambiance, it was a cool place. It was dimly lit, and they had TVs all over the back wall where you could watch the day's sporting events. The bar looked like it had a cool vibe as well, and they have a back patio that's perfect for outside dining. All-in-all, I'd probably go back and recommend Publico for drinks and ambiance, but would likely head elsewhere if I'm looking for great Mexican food.

We had reservations and were seated promptly in a comfortable booth near the front windows, where I thoroughly enjoyed watching the rain fall while we settled in for dinner. Our server, Alexis B., was as sweet as could be. Friendly, attentive, and professional throughout the evening, she did everything she could to make our experience enjoyable. Unfortunately, things went downhill when one of my dining companions disclosed an onion allergy. To be clear, the issue wasn't Alexis - it was the response from management. What should have been a straightforward conversation turned into a surprisingly frustrating ordeal involving both a manager and assistant manager, neither of whom handled the situation particularly well. We ordered a roasted beet salad for the table, drinks including a club soda and Cola's 76, and my friends planned to split the hamburger. When the burger arrived, it consisted of a bun and a beef patty. That's it. No toppings. Nothing. When we asked what happened, we were told it was due to concerns about cross contamination. Now, I fully appreciate restaurants taking food allergies seriously. In fact, I encourage it. But there was a complete lack of communication, flexibility, or customer service surrounding the situation. When additional toppings and accompaniments were eventually brought out separately, there was no explanation, apology, or acknowledgment of the confusion. The entire interaction left a really, really bad taste in our mouths. As for my own meal, things were much better. I enjoyed a strawberry mojito, a half-dozen oysters Rockefeller, and the gnocchi caprese. The gnocchi was quite unique and something I don't often see on menus. The food itself was enjoyable. So, in the end, this review comes down to the service experience. Alexis was wonderful. The atmosphere was inviting. The food ranged from good to very good. But the way management handled a simple allergy accommodation turned what could have been a four- or five-star experience into a frustrating one. Sweet server. Cozy atmosphere. Sour management. Kind of like an onion, I guess!

Our server was nice. I ordered the lamb chop meal, which came with two sides. I selected the mac & cheese with the collard greens. I was told both were popular. The lamb itself was seasoned well. The sauce they include for it on the side was horrible. It had a overpowering vinegar taste. I hated it! The mac & cheese was basic and I didn't care for all of the parsley packed on top. It was supposed to have spices in it from what I was told but I had to dump a cup of hot sauce in it for the spice and flavor. One of my sisters ordered salmon.
