Had dinner one night while in town. We had reservations at 7:30, and they are highly recommended. White table cloth dining, an open interior with high ceiling and a long bar on one wall. We were greeted by the hostesses upon arrival and seated within the same moments. This is an elevated dining experience. A concise menu, well executed. After giving the menu a once over we started with the Fried green tomatoes, because thats what you do. An elevated presentation, beautifully prepared and very good. A really nice flavor and texture, they were a good start. Next we went for the local cheeses board, another solid choice and a wonderful assortment of profiles, textures and compliments. For entrees we both had the Tilefish, also a solid choice served "Oscar" with crab on top over a risotto with garden peas. Cooked beautifully and so tender and succulent, it was a really good choice for dinner. Along with an ala carte Yukon gold fingerling truffle potatoes, they were also quite tasty and a nice additional to our meal. 4 Stars a solid dining choice, worth the effort to park. Reservations necessary most nights. 01082

From the moment we ascended the stairs into the dining room, till the time we left about 2 1/2 hours later, the service, food and ambience were excellent! We were especially pleased with our server, Elena. She is personable, helpful, and was responsive to our needs. She is someone who enjoys her work and does it so well. We skipped the appetizers and ordered some cocktails. They're a little pricey, but my old fashioned was quite large and very tasty-- one of the best I've ever had! Out of our group of six, all of us had steak, four fillets and one ribeye. One member of our party, a frequent diner at Saluda's, is a vegan and they prepared a very nice vegan meal for him. My entrée was cooked perfectly and was one of the best steaks I've had in recent memory. The outside was charged nicely. The flavor of the meat was superb, and it was cooked perfectly. Those who ordered filet, were very pleased with both the tenderness of the meat and how they were prepared! We also ordered a bottle of Italian red, called Cum Laude; it had a nice smooth mouth feel, a rich, jammy flavor, and just the right amount of tannins. Our sides, whether fingerling potatoes, asparagus scallops, or mashed potatoes, were seasoned well and cooked perfectly. All in all, a great dining experience!

Three of us celebrated my 70th birthday here this evening. I had the absolute BEST pork chop of my life here tonight. Wife enjoyed her scallops and mother in law had shrimp and grits. All of us were extremely pleased with our selections. Grace provided us with amazing service and all three of us agree that we will return another time to celebrate another special day...

I recently tried Saluda's for the first time during Restaurant Week. I would like to say the service is great and the food I ordered was great. The beans may throw many people off, however they were very flavorful. The restaurant was clean and aesthetically pleasing.

Decided to try this when in town for business - very good! Once in the front door, you do have to walk up a steep flight of stairs, leading into a big open dining room room. It can get noisy, which is why they request no small Children. They also have balcony seating for when it is nice outside. Great location. Service was excellent. I went with the pork chop which was a great decision. Crème brûlée for dessert. Good stuff.

I had the lamb shank with mashed potatoes, collards: the winter cocktail (forgot the name) and I tried the fried green tomatoes, and I had a bite of the cheesecake. Everything was 100% perfect. I enjoyed my meal from start to finish. I was expecting more of a sweet cocktail but it was terrible either. The lamb was the star of the show. And the collards had the perfect balance of sweet and heat! The service was excellent. I came here with a group of 4 other co-workers and our waiter treated us all with respect and everyone's order was delivered with accuracy. There were no complaints from the table. The ambiance is perfect for celebratory dinners, birthday, date nite, or just because you want something different. Parking can be a mess depending on the day of the week you dine, but the experience overshadowed that. This is a place I would definitely come back to, to enjoy a birthday dinner or when I'm in the mood for something upscale.

I had high expectations given the pricing and reputation, but the experience was deeply disappointing. The presentation was lack luster and the food itself was incredibly disappointing. The Mac and cheese reminded me of box Kraft shells and cheese with bacon on top. The butter beans looked like the chef just opened the can and dropped them onto the plate. Even the pork chop was mediocre. I was asked how I wanted it cooked cause they usually serve it medium. Really pork medium? For a restaurant to position itself as upscale, the quality was shocking poor. Simply unacceptable!

Moscato

This was my first time here and the food and service was top tier! Me and my date enjoyed everything including the ambiance, we will be back!

Fish Du Jour

I tried the fish dish and it was delicious! The Elena's service was excellent and very elegant ambiance. I definitely recommend it.

Classic hospitality at Saluda's. The beverages are well crafted and the food is delicious. The second floor location gives you a little oasis above the street, although be careful on the stairs! The wait staff is well trained and friendly without being ostentatious, which I find increasingly rare. My favorite is the fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese because then I don't have to choose between the two southern classics. The rack of lamb on my last visit was perfectly prepared. We hope to return soon!

In all the years I've been living here I've never been to this restaurant and man have I been missing out. This place is absolutely amazing. Beautiful inside with a gorgeous elevated porch. Food was outstanding. I think I could have made a meal on the Mac and cheeses on my wife's plate. Steak was cooked perfectly with an excellent char. I highly recommend coming here.

I saw one of my fellow Yelpers post about this place and so I decided to make a reservation to celebrate my birthday here. Best decision I made. They have complimentary valet parking. The valet is the best! Super personable and very kind! We were seated in a private room. It had a few Christmas decorations out, which made the room look festive. We were seated by the balcony. Our view was of the fountain. Our waiter was superb. He was very detailed in his explanations and described the menu very well. He explained some things like why they don't serve poultry. I really liked him. Our food was perfect! I ordered the crab cake, the smoked Gouda mac and cheese, the steak cooked medium rare, and shrimp. Nothing needed to be added or removed. Everything tasted phenomenal and was cooked perfectly. My guests and I really enjoyed and we all agreed that we will most certainly be coming back for more!

The cocktails were the star of the night - ranging from $11 to $13 - both their classics and house creations were well balanced and worth trying. Table service was provided with attentive wait staff who weren't overbearing. The only miss for the night was the food. While certain items like the fries and the Brussels sprouts were great, other items like the burger and duck tacos didn't hit the mark with a burger that was too dry and overly charred and the tacos which were too gamey and could have used a some more acid. For a drink I'd certainly visit again, but would likely pass on food.

He absolutely raved about his sandwich and said it was the best he ever had. I wouldn't order the lobster mac again but it was presented beautifully. The breakfast burritos were delicious, the yogurt bowl was yummy plenty of fruit. The S'mores latte was delicious. The service was good , nothing exciting. When I got the tres leche pancakes I very disappointed there was no taste of tres leche anywhere on those pancakes , all I could taste was regular plain pancakes with syrup , it does come with plantains those were pretty good . I had thought that maybe they would put some tres leche in between the pancakes themselves. But no they were very dry. And the waiter didn't even give me the bacon that came with my pancakes ,I had to ask for it and if i didn't get the bacon.I would have been charged for the bacon . Waiter needs to be more aware of what comes with the plates. Anyway don't order the tres leche pancakes you will be disappointed. The chips, quesadilla,…read morefries, and tacos I got were pretty average as compared to other Mexican restaurants, and nothing about them really stood out. In addition, my waitress was nice, but I would've liked it if she was a tad more attentive. Although I didn't drink on this occasion, I've been to Publico in the past, and I will say that their margaritas are much better than comparable Mexican places. So, perhaps if you're looking for a Mexican place that has good drinks rather than great food, Publico seems like a nice option. As for the ambiance, it was a cool place. It was dimly lit, and they had TVs all over the back wall where you could watch the day's sporting events. The bar looked like it had a cool vibe as well, and they have a back patio that's perfect for outside dining. All-in-all, I'd probably go back and recommend Publico for drinks and ambiance, but would likely head elsewhere if I'm looking for great Mexican food.

I've had soup bread bowls, but not hot and crispy, and of course, not chicken salad. The sides menu is a long list; I chose onion rings.
