Came in based on the Yelp rating and reviews. Scallops, salmon, salad, and Brussels were very good, but the meatballs were the best. Unfortunately, when you dine with teenage boys, you don't have a chance to have more than one serving. I'd definitely order the scallops and meatballs, if I revisit. The flatbread was okay - not my favorite. I didn't eat the spicy shrimp, but others ate all of it. Service was very fast. We were seated immediately and our order arrived quickly. We were able to enjoy all ordered items at the same time. We dined on a Tuesday evening. Kind of slow. A few diners on the patio and several at the bar. Had a $2 of a glass of wine instant Yelp coupon upon checking in. Waitress honored it, but shared that they don't usually work with Yelp. Odd! Not sure why Yelp would offer a coupon that the restaurant doesn't accept. Oh well!

What a lovely girls dinner at Gervais and Vine. So many delicious tapas plates to choose from. We had the crispy brussel sprouts with bacon, eggplant fries with romesco sauce and lemon yogurt and finished with the spicy shrimp gambas. The shrimp was the star of the night and were perfectly spicy. The sunshine daydream was a delicious cocktail with a spicy chili rum, orange and lime.

Great food, especially the duck. My wife was less enthused about the salmon. The chocolate torte was rich and delicious.

I have been dining at Gervais and Vine for years . I no longer live in Columbia but I always try to make a point to dine here when I'm in the area . Through the years and now different ownership, the restaurant has proven itself to provide consistent great service , creative dishes and quality food . It is a tapas restaurant , which is meant for sharing but you can certainly make a meal for yourself but just expect to pay a bit of a premium price as each item, including items traditionally considered as a side is a la carte. My recommendations are the petit filet mignon : it's topped with feta cheese and a balsamic reduction which lends to a very robust flavor profile. Also , try the the spicy shrimp gambas. It's is not spicy but the Roma tomatoes, bacon , sherry and garlic paired with this dish make it a must try! On this most recent visit I tried the Brussel sprouts . I did not care for them as I prefer my Brussels more crispy . These are boiled then sautéed. If you are a Brussels fan they may be worth trying as they are topped with bacon , feta and drizzled with balsamic. PARKING: there is a complimentary parking lot directly behind the restaurant. YELP TIP: as of March 2022 there's currently a Yelp checkin offer for $2 off a glass of wine . Enjoy this Columbia gem !

I came here on a girls night with my friends and we were very happy with our orders. The ambiance was perfect and we loved having a corner booth with pillows by the door. The scallops were served with three sauces. One was a creamy dill sauce, another was a savory balsamic sauce and the other was chive oil with drops of cholula hot sauce. Out of the three, all of us loved the chive oil with hot sauce the most! It was divine and even complimented the Brussels. The service we received was great! The wine was flowing and very good as well. They have a great wine list!

Very fine dining with a nice ambiance in downtown Columbia. We love the spicy shrimp gambas and seared scallops dishes but all the food options are usually a hit. The prices have gone up significantly throughout the years (see recent menu pictures) which is a BIG reason we don't go as often. The plates are meant for sharing but are too small for the price and the portion size. Still recommend but more for special occasions due to high price range.

The fingerlings and filet mignon were my absolute favorites! The dessert was also great. It was calm when we went with good live music indoors.

Adorable neighborhood wine bar with French Flair! Near downtown Columbia and the University. Great tapas bar... Great staff

This restaurant is more of a gathering place to get drinks than it is a good restaurant. I do wish the building was more handicap accessible with the amount of stairs you need to climb.

I arrived at 750. I was told that tables were sitting a little late so it would be a wait of 20-30 minutes. Well that wouldn't be a problem if there was somewhere to wait. I was told I could go to the rooftop (40 degrees) or wait under the stairs (no room and a fall hazard). I asked if we could wait by the bar but was told there was a private party and we couldn't. My husband and I went to a neighboring bar and returned 15 minutes later where we then waited by bar, eventually being seated at 825. Ambiance is nice. It's cozy, good for date night. Server was amazing. She was a natural. Top tier, like she studied to be a server lol. I hate I can't remember her name. Five stars for her. Food. It was a 3/5. Go for the mussels! They are delicious. Hush puppies are pretty tasty. Main options we got were the ribeye and the quail. They both left something to be desired. It was good but it wasn't great. I didn't want to lick my plate. Something was needed and missing in both dishes. The portions are fine. I won't return to give them another chance. My advice to anyone coming for a nice date night, don't. I would stop by here, hit the bar, grab some mussels and go elsewhere for dinner. I'm disappointed because I was looking forward to trying this place. I would have given them 3 stars but the seating situation was not acceptable. Oh and don't get dessert here. They threw something together and called it an apple parfait. It tasted like air.

Never disappoints - our go-to spot in downtown Columbia!…read more Christal and I have been coming to Hampton Street Vineyard for several visits now, and it truly never disappoints. Every time we walk in, we're greeted with that warm, welcoming vibe in the historic Sylvan Building - it's cozy yet elegant, perfect for a special night out or just a really great meal. The food is outstanding: seasonal, fresh ingredients shine through in every dish, and the wine list is impressive (no surprise with their Wine Spectator award). We've tried a variety of plates over our visits, and nothing has missed the mark - always flavorful, beautifully presented, and satisfying. What keeps us coming back (and recommending it nonstop) is how consistently excellent it is. We run Chestnut Cottage Inn just 4 blocks away, so we send our guests here all the time. Without fail, they come back raving about their meal and the great time they had. It's the perfect spot for visitors to Columbia - close by, reliable, and memorable. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and book a table. You won't regret it! Highly recommend for dinner or their weekend brunch.

To begin I had requested a window seat @6:00 for 2 which was not available. We arrived 15 minutes early , so I would have expected to be given the choice to wait for a window table or be sat , no offer made. And speaking of tables , the chairs are super uncomfortable and you notice that as soon as you sit, hard and straight . We ordered from the special menu , but it was offerings from the regular standard menu . My husband had the flat iron steak w broccolini for extra $10.00 up charge . Steak was seasoned well but very small 6 oz portion . Broccolini was a mystery , served almost raw with charred ends. Was too tough to eat or cut with knife. I ordered the Beef short rib w Brussels sprouts and parsnips. The beef was flavorful, tasted exactly like crock pot roast . Agin , the Brussel sprouts were hard as a rock, literally! When trying to stick the fork into it , it flew off the plate ! I love al dente vegetables but last nights were extremely undercooked with NO flavor at all.Without seasonings Brussel sprouts can taste like dirt , and these did . Desert was date sticky pudding which was excellent . Summary is for $165.00 dinner we left underwhelmed , hungry and looking for the nearest Taco Bell. I would like to note our server was great .

The cocktails were the star of the night - ranging from $11 to $13 - both their classics and house creations were well balanced and worth trying. Table service was provided with attentive wait staff who weren't overbearing. The only miss for the night was the food. While certain items like the fries and the Brussels sprouts were great, other items like the burger and duck tacos didn't hit the mark with a burger that was too dry and overly charred and the tacos which were too gamey and could have used a some more acid. For a drink I'd certainly visit again, but would likely pass on food.

We of course had to try a slice of peanut butter cake. My husband loved it (he picked the dessert). I picked our drinks and they have an excellent drink variety. He absolutely raved about his sandwich and said it was the best he ever had. I wouldn't order the lobster mac again but it was presented beautifully. I look forward to going back and trying the mussels. I saw many of those orders coming out and definitely looked so good! Great spot to check out for drinks, desserts, and a bite!
