I'm happy I visited. 3.5/5 stars. Nothing overwhelming. The food was good but not outstanding (we only got charcuterie though... wish I tried more). Keep in mind that the menu updates ever-so-often, but: The drinks we tried spanned from "ok" to "great." I highly recommend the "Lavender" libation, it was great! Bubbly, tasty. The "pear fect " drink was ok, not worth it imo. Too sweet/no decor to enhance it. One dimensional taste. Super juicy/sweet if you're into that, and felt super strong alcohol-wise honestly (that's a plus). There is a tiki bar underneath. That was fun. Finally I tried this hidden gem, it's been on my list for while! Robinson Room was a great experience from beginning to end. I made a reservation, timing was perfect. It wasn't crowded, ambience was nice, customer service was A+, and the food- drinks was amazing! Absolutely loved the decor and very intimate dining experience. Location is downtown Columbia, I went on a Friday afternoon approx 5p, we had no issue with parking. This was the start to our 30yr anniversary pre diner, before another reservation later in the evening. We loved everything about our time here. 3 1/2 stars, Okay so let me get the negatives out the way first: smells a bit weird but well done on decor except the faux plants. The space could benefit from fresh greenery to give it a clean air vibe but I digress. However, I love and recommend the espresso martin and the bourbon pudding (it's a banana pudding, no bourbon flavor whatsoever) but I enjoyed it, it could use more of the cookie wafers though. Stay clear from the Tuscan Trifle drink, yuck... way too sweet. Instead order the espresso martini and you can thank me later. With this place being a drink/dessert place I wanted more but it's cute and has potential. It's worth a try. A cute little spot to hang with your besties or even have a little pre/post date cocktail. Overall I had a great experience. My server was attentive, the food was good and the chairs were comfortable. That means a lot to some of us! This is a great place to go to if you want light bites. Their menu is traditionally tapas style. Do not expect big hearty meals or even hearty appetizers. This place would be suitable as an after dinner or first date place. I tried the goat cheese pita which is one of the "heartiest" meal options. It was a good portion and tasty. They have several cocktail option. Lastly, if you have a large party, this may not be the best spot. This place is more intimate and cozy. I believe anything I over 6 people maybe hard to accommodate if the place is packed. What I really like about this place is that the focus is on who you are there with. The apps and the drinks are nice but they don't detract from the convo. The decor is on point and it's perfectly instagrammable. Fresh and clean bathrooms. I love meetings dates here or just engaging in really good convo with girlfriends. The food is plated creatively and I like the brunch menu they have going on. I went today for my friend's birthday brunch, as I've been before and really liked the atmosphere of the place, however we did not have the best experience. For one, the food is pretty good, a tad pricey for the amount of food you get. Most importantly though, the restaurant was basically empty, and it took forever for our food to come. And at the end of the brunch, we asked for the check and asked the waitress to split the birthday girl's check, and we were sitting there waiting for at least 15 minutes waiting for her to figure it out. The chairs were comfortable. Do not let it be said I'm overly critical. This is not properly understood as a tapas place, though that's how they advertise. Tapas offered were just appetizers - shrimp cocktail, bar nuts, charcuterie plate for example. The charcuterie was very uninspired - think four slices of pre sliced salami thrown into a pile of regular cheddar cheese, a hunk of blue cheese, and a soft goat. Tons of cheese, so if you like middling cheeses from the Food Lion you're in luck. The "duck and Brussels" was probably the better of the dishes, but still not something I'd send people for. Maybe this place would best be for a cocktail late at night after getting food elsewhere. read more

Brunch, girls day out - You know the delight of going to a nice restaurant when all of the entrees are presented at the same time .... Well you can expect the very opposite at the Robinson Room. Entrees were brought out one at a time with a great deal of space (at least 5 minutes) in between each service delivery For instance, my eggs for my gritts were served a good 5 minutes before the cold grits were brought to me. We watched the coffee get made one painful cup at a time (we are not talking anything beyond regular coffee). Same for the simple mimosa cocktails. We had to ask for milk and sugar, though sugar was not even available. Everyone was served cold brunch and it is very awkward when items are served more than 5 minutes apart! The entrance is confusing so we walked in through the grand. Staff was hanging out behind the bar. We had never been here so didnt know if it was seat yourself or if a host had to seat you... It was not busy and it took a few minutes of us looking lost for someone to come up and say "sit anywhere you like". This should of been our first clue to just leave. So we sat down looked at the menu and waited. 5 min goes by and we see the staff walking from the bar into the grand, downstairs, and just chatting and DRINKING around the bar. I make eye contact with a few of them and they immediately find something to do or go... This continues for another 15 min. There were only 2 other tables in the place being used... They had gotten cocktails, food, waters....etc. So someone had gotten service.... There was nothing to indicate that we had to order at the bar..... We finally left, I have no clue if the food is good or not.... We came for cocktails and dessert for a birthday (and we had picked this place over a trusted dessert place in the vista) and it left a sour taste on what was supposed to be a special night. To the guy that owns these places and is buying up downtown, do better! read more

The only thing I'd say about the service is our waiter seemed slow at times coming to our table and it seemed he tried to remember everything and not confirming the order vs writing it down or repeating it back because he gave my bf the wrong thing (which at the end wasn't a problem) and when we asked for the apple sausage , he thought we said apple torte and came back and said we don't serve dessert during brunch.... We were like no we said apple sausage. Now on to the food and drinks. I ordered a pineapple sour and it was so good. It seemed to get stronger the more I drank and the dried blood orange slice gave it a nice little kick. I ordered the wagyu meatballs and potatoes and they give it to you in a little skillet. It doesn't seem like enough food but it actually was a good sized portion. The wagyu meatballs were tender and flavorful and paired well with the potatoes. The potatoes were supposed to be crispy which I'm sure they were initially but after the meatballs sitting on top lost it a little, but that wasn't a problem at all. I think it would be so much better with a medium cooked egg in the middle to complete the dish .We ordered the apple sausage and grits a la carte just to try it. The sausage was a smidge sweet but still had good smoky flavor. The grits were flavorful but texture was mid. It was a little dry and thick. I wish I could have tasted the desserts but that'll be an excuse to come back again. I'd give it this place an 8.7 for overall experience. read more

Every time I pop in the ambiance is amazing! However, the one thing I attempt to order is either gone or missing an ingredient. The staff is very friendly but they may be over worked. Seated quickly but took a while to have someone come over. I had to ask the table next to me if I could borrow a menu and they obliged because they had already ordered and eaten and just had a table of menus amongst their dishes. First of all the new location is very intimate and lovey. The music, the esthetics, the vibes, the people so awesome. So sexy and everything just flowed together so beautifully. I wish the menu was still the same so I could have experienced all of the other beautiful food. Other than that it was a very beautiful experience. We had to wait for the pasty chef to arrive (why are there reservations available at this time?) the dessert was listed on menu as having chocolate drizzle. What I was served had melted ice cream and a (probably bottled Ghirardelli) caramel drizzle. We got passed many many times and when we finally got up to ask the bartender if we needed to order a drink at the bar she said someone would be with us in a minute. And then everyone started asked who was going to take the table and then no one ended up walking over while just standing there on the toast tablets. I've bartended and served tables for 6 years and have taken many many tables at one time and can get when someone gets busy but there was maybe 8 tables in there max. There's only one person working all of front of house and it just isn't enough. He's server, bartender, and host. We're not in any rush, but the wait for ordering, food, and check has been excessive. Now the vibe is 10/10, one of the most beautiful restaurant interiors in Columbia. When I read the menu, I was excited to try almost every item, and while the food wasn't bad per say, I don't think any of it was fresh or made in house. I literally thought at one point, is this fried chicken the Red Bag kind from Aldi?? When we went, they did not have the sausage gravy, which is a ticket item on so much of the menu. The manager said they were making it in house and it wasn't ready yet, which leads me to the question- Wait. What IS made in house? And why isn't it ready upon the opening of the restaurant?
