I've always enjoyed Henry's ... until tonight. Without informing their customers or explaining the reason, they have begun adding a 6.83% admin surcharge to their final bill BEFORE sales tax and tip. I consider the admin fee to be a deceptive pricing practice. The staff could not adequately explain the purpose of the admin fee. Unexpected and unexplained fees and surcharges are an unconscionable business practice. For this reason alone, I don't plan to go back to this restaurant. There are many other dining options available that don't engage in this sort of deceptive pricing practice. I strongly encourage Henry's to be completely transparent about this new pricing model rather than hiding behind silence and hoping customers don't notice. read more

I rarely give less than four stars! I always check Yelp before I visit, so my expectations aren't unrealistic when I walk in the door. I still visit, knowing the rating. Yelp did not fail; it wasn't a 5-star experience My food was burnt, not good at all. I had two burnt waffles. I know better. Never go to a chicken place and order a burger or vice versa (cultural phrasing). I was not at a place known for Breakfast or Brunch. Back to the review, the server acknowledged and then said, "They will prepare another." I think "another" meant the two waffles they returned, one. I said to the other server, "Where is the other one (waffle)?" His response wasn't, "Let me send your server over." NOPE, that's not what was said. He said, "Ask your server." I would have asked if he had returned. He didn't return; in fact, no one returned for a while. I shared my disappointment. Our server said, Oh, I thought only one was burnt. The waffle is a strong NO. Please don't order it, as it will be burned. The chicken was perfect. It was seasoned well and cooked perfectly. I enjoyed the chicken. My friend had the burger, and it looked good. It was on what I call Toast Bread. Here are the clues, 1. Everyone had salads or sandwiches. I watched them pass my table. 2. Reviews were about sandwiches. Lesson learned: watch what others are ordering I should have ordered a salad! The review would probably have been better. I don't think the service would have been better. Now the icing on the cake! He brings the bill, and it's over $50 for two people, and he said, I didn't charge for the extra syrup! So my husband and I come here yesterday (Sunday 4/6) We walk in and immediately see an old run down couch that looked like it came from a frat house. A sign said seat yourself, so we did. Sat at a table that appeared to have been cleaned up, it wasn't. The decor in rest of restaurant is OUTDATED and the floors are filthy and disgusting. Staff is ok but could be better , clearly this place needs new cooks. We order out burgers medium and when we get them, they are medium well/well done, zero pink whatsoever, the fries weren't great either. Only thing that was decent was the fried mushrooms. Overall this place needs an overhaul, a remodel big time, better staff. Disappointed in this place and not sure why 4/5 stars this place doesn't deserve that. Not worth an almost $80 bill! read more

Nestled inside a strip mall, Henry's can provide you with the food and drinks your stomach desires. Henry's has everything from Pimento cheeseburgers to chicken wraps, salads, sandwiches, and Philly cheesesteaks. They also have many beers to choose from including local brews. Their online menu shows drink specials such has half price bottles of wine and $3 mimosas on certain days of the week. The service is good and attentive. Inside they have TVs to watch your favorite sporting event, billiards tables, and video games. One thing to note though. Every table is extremely sticky. I'm not sure what causes this but everything I put on the table had to be pried off. All the tables are like this. The food, however, is delicious and highly recommended. read more

The food was delicious. There is nothing like a good burger with some fries! The club sand-which was also good! The environment was chill and fun. We tried Henry's for the first time tonight. Our little one was already sleeping so we called in an order. We got the Buffalo Chips as an appetizer. They were just okay. I was expecting to taste a little more buffalo, but overall not bad. My husband got the Carolina Burger, which he said was awesome. My son got the kids hot dog. He enjoyed it. I was undecided but then opted for the fried flounder sandwich with a side of fries. Service was way above average and impressive, the meal delightful and tasty and I always had a full cup of my non-alcoholic beverage. I enjoyed watching the sports here on several different channels and was tempted to just hang out after the meal. Since the portions were so generous I decided against it and went out for a walk. I visited a couple of weeks ago with some friends. The food was hot and fresh and I enjoyed my Russian mule. The only reason I took off 2 stars is because the waiter was a bit condescending and rude. I was when we asked questions about the menu and alcoholic beverages. It almost felt as if we were an inconvenience to him in a way. My friend felt the fried pickles were too salty the waiter got his manager and he was also quite unpleasant. I went here for lunch yesterday with my coworkers! I've been here before and it was just okay but yesterday I was PLEASED! My coworker convinced me to try the Carolina Chicken sandwich, he swore I would love it and I really did. The menu says it's a pimento cheese on top but it taste more like a melted jalapeño cheddar! It was sooooo good! The chicken was crispy but not dry! I HIGHLY suggest getting jalapeño mayo on your sandwich, it added the perfect kick! I also loved the fries. They were hot and fresh. I have found this to be a reliable quick, easy dinner option when staying in Columbia. This was the case once again. I had the Texas burger and it was cooked perfectly (per my request) with just the right amount of cheese and jalapeño pepper. Their Sweet Potato Fries are the real reason I love this place. Home run again. My only complaint is that if you are not a drinker they don't offer coffee of any kind. My preference with dinner is always decaf. read more

We dropped into Henry's for lunch while we were in the area. I saw the positive reviews and immediately decided to eat here and I'm glad that I did. As soon as we arrived we were greeted at the door and chose our own table. The restaurant was half full, but the service moved quickly. I ordered the Henry Signature Burger. Today was my second and last visit to Henry's Northeast. My first there a few weeks ago was great dining outside with friends and the food was good. So today I took my grandson there for lunch out on the patio. Great server and good food. Before we got halfway through our meal, an older couple came on to the patio with their THREE dogs and place the dogs' bowls on the table where customers are served as they waited to be served. Shortly afterwards another couple came bringing their dog. This seemed to be a fairly routine thing for them at this place. The dogs began barking at each other out of control and I felt like we were at a kennel. That was the end of a good experience. The restuarant should be more concerned about the welfare of it's human clientele, some of whom have allergies, sanitary concerns, etc. If I had wanted to eat at a kennel, I could have packed a lunch and gone to the local animal shelter or a pet shop. Overall: Decent burgers, decent beer selection, but skip the "pimento" cheese. I needed to get dinner someplace away from the stadium due to USC beating the crap out of Chattanooga, so I took my hotel concierge's recommendation and gave Henry's a shot. The beer menu was adequate, with some good local offerings. But definitely not an abundance of selection if you're a craft beer snob. The burger (Henry's signature) was cooked as ordered. If a waiter doesn't ask how you'd like your burger cooked - you're not going to get a good burger. Mine was medium rare, as ordered. Not bad at all, and probably better than average. Why only 3 stars?! The "pimento" cheese... wasn't. I've only lived in the Carolinas 6 years, but I love good pimento cheese. This wasn't even close. Take your average liquid nacho cheese, throw in some pimentos, and that's what I was served on my fries. So if a G.D. Yankee is saying your pimento cheese sucks... I feel like Southern Living needs to revoke your license to operate in the Carolinas. TLDR: Good burgers, decent beer, horrible "pimento" cheese - but a good place to get dinner on a Saturday night, as long as Clemson and USC are winning and all the patrons are happy. read more

Henry's Restaurant is a great Columbia spot that offers everything from wings and burgers to cheesesteaks and wraps. There are 3 locations in Columbia: Northeast (this review), Downtown on Devine Street and in West Columbia. Kelsay and I have eaten at the Downtown location several times and the Northeast location once and each time has been great! If you visit Henry's you MUST try the cheesesteaks, whether you get the chicken or steak they are both amazing. The Carolina Cheesesteak features your choice of meat, and melted pimento cheese and jalapeño sauce. If you don't like pimento cheese, trust us... you will after this, just be sure to have the napkins ready! And don't get us started on the fries, you can eat a basket of them alone and more than satisfied. Another must try are the wings. The Kung Foo sauce is number one, it's a sweet and spicy sauce with just enough kick!
