I recently visited Tupelo Honey and unfortunately did not have a good experience. Our food was initially taken to the wrong table, which caused a significant delay in us receiving our meals. While they attempted to make it right, the situation was already frustrating due to the wait. On top of that, the receipt showed we were charged for two farmhouse breakfast platters and two Asheville hot chicken & ranch melts, even though we only ordered one of each. The extra items should have never been on the bill in the first place, and instead of correcting it properly, the receipt reflects confusing adjustments that make it hard to clearly see what was actually charged. Between the delay, order mix-up, and lack of clarity with the billing, the overall experience fell short. Definitely recommend double-checking your receipt before leaving. read more

Service, ambience and food were all great! This was my first visit to the Columbia location but it did not disappoint. The sriracha chicken and waffles was a perfect balance of sweet, savory, and spicy. The chicken breast was most and the waffle was fluffy and fresh. I also had the fried green tomatoes. Panko-crusted fried green tomatoes over creamy stone-ground goat cheese grits and red pepper coulis, topped with fresh basil. One slice was firmer than I'd like but they are green tomatoes so they aren't normally soft. My son and sister have the chicken BLT and fries. My son raved about his sandwich. He took it to go and even later he said it was an awesome sandwich. Our server, Savannah, was very nice and knowledgeable. She did a good job. The my were not very busy when we visited it's a cool spot. Decent size. Cool vibes. I got the half bird bone in chicken with fried okra and green beans. My daughter got chicken and waffles. We had fried green tomatoes for an appetizer. The grits and sauce with the tomatoes was good. Best part of the meal. My chicken... no wait I'll go from bottom to top. Green beans had bacon in them with no hint of bacon flavor. I wouldn't recommend. The fried okra was ok. Not real flavorful but crunchy which I liked. My chicken was mid. Very mid. I wasn't pleased. I got a sweet spiced sauce with the meal and that good on the chicken but without it, it's a no for me. My daughter said her chicken and waffles was just ok. Over all we probably wouldn't come back here. It was horrible but the food wasn't very tasty. read more

We arrived for brunch and everything was really good. We were asked if we had reservations, luckily we didn't need them for the lunch, rush, but I would recommend reservations. We loved our server Matyas he was patient and kind and very helpful. I ordered the farmhouse breakfast and grits, which was the cream cheesiest grits I've had in a very long time. I requested sage plant based sausage, eggs scrambled hard, The grits didn't include goat cheese. I also had a biscuit. My one issue with the biscuit was I wasn't given anything to put on the biscuit. I wish I had been given some jam or jelly or butter, it was still really good though. I ordered an ice dirty chai, which had a little bit of a spicy kick to it and I loved it. Wow! I can't believe I've let this review fall by the wayside. So, I've been here a few times, from the time they first opened to a few times afterwards. I love the aesthetics. It's a pretty open space, and you can pretty much find a seat and make reservations online if need be. The staff seems to be pretty pleasant and kind throughout my visits. I came to share about my most recent experience, which was a lunchtime visit. We were seated right away. I ordered the chicken and gravy with a side of grits with shredded cheese and brussel sprouts. The chicken was delicious, and actually I got the gravy on the side, but it was pretty good as well. It had some flavor. The grits were really good. In addition to the shredded cheese, the grits come with goat cheese. It was a great creamy cheesy addition. The brussel sprouts are literally amazing. They are perfectly cooked and flavorful as well. Super cute place. The staff told me everyone in the entire area staff and customers have to pay for parking so that was a hassle but I did find a spot. The menu is great. I had the cheese and soup and a healthy shot. It was all wonderful. My server was super kind and attentive. Reasonably priced for the surrounding location for diner. I would eat here again. We dined here this week and had a party of 5. I made a reservation through Open Table for 6 PM, but that wasn't necessary. There were not many people- maybe 5 at the bar and there were 3 tables with patrons. Not a lot at all! Good news, We were promptly seated. We waited at a minimum 10 minutes to be greeted once seated. I can attest to this because my father arrived roughly 10 minutes after we were seated, if not later. drink order prior to So, likely we waited longer. This was not an ideal way to start our evening for a special celebration. Once our server greeted us and took our drink orders I was optimistic. She was friendly and kind, but not apologetic for the delay. Sadly they were out of meatloaf which is what two people in our party were hoping to order. No biggie, plenty of options. Our orders included:side salad (hold the onions!), smothered chicken, steak, kid's burger, fries, mac and cheese, roasted potatoes, biscuits. Our food was good and everyone seemed pleased. All in all, it started rough but ended better. I just can't get past the service aspect. For a place that had so few patrons during our visit it seems that we would be noticed. Such a cute, lively place for brunch. The interior is beautiful, with lots of seating for guests. They also offer outdoor seating. The staff were amazing and friendly. When we first arrived, we were greeted by two very friendly hosts. Once our party of 13 arrived Natalie got right to work with taking our orders. She was an amazing server. She was very attentive and efficient. The food came out quickly and was hot and fresh. We had fried green tomatoes, biscuits, and fried okra for our appetizers. Everything was really tasty and fresh. Tupelo was a great choice for our team outing! The atmosphere was great and the decor, with all of their large windows was bright and airy. Our server (Ben) was exceptional with the right balance of table presence and attention to detail without being overbearing. The entire staff for that matter was extremely kind and welcoming from the second we walked in the door. The food was amazing! Things are cooked to order and you can tell! I had the blackened mahi mahi with the creole butter and it was cooked perfectly. Mahi Mahi is tricky as it has a tendency to dry out and this one was cooked expertly. The brussels were cooked perfectly and were dusted with some amazing seasoning. The collards were good and smokey! I'm a sucker for pecan pie and whenever I see it on a menu I absolutely must get it. This definitely hit the mark! This place is definitely versatile. Had an enjoyable lunch at this new TH location. We were seated in time with our reservation and the hostesses were friendly. The waiting area is only one small bench, so that isn't the best for such a busy brunch spot. Our waitress was also great. She was attentive and quick with whatever we needed. I ordered the chicken tenders and they were very good. They were very tender and still juicy. They came with a flight of 3 sauces. I highly recommend the firecracker sauce. Portions were very good. As a side I got the crispy potatoes. Those, I disliked. Too much skin and too much crunch. There wasn't a lot of potato worth eating. I also ordered a blueberry lemon mimosa. That was delicious. The place was busy and packed but overall food came out quickly. Lots of families with kids and the hustle and bustle of noise. The biscuits fell apart when cut but who cares. Decided to come back for lunch here since I truly enjoyed the Yelp event that I came to and then they also sent me an $20 off coupon a 40 for my birthday. Upon entry service was great we were greeted properly and taken into a table, fried tomatoes, sweet potato biscuits, I attempted to order chicken salad off the lunch menu but they were out so I said hope for a cup of lime chicken soup and we also got a salad. Everything was absolutely amazing. Green tomatoes were so delicious that I could possibly see myself even ordering those as an entrée, perfectly with the grits to make a tasty bite. They both were very personable and friendly. Customer service 5 stars for sure. I ordered the shrimp and grits with a side of rosemary Parmesan potatoes. The grits was nice and creamy but the I did not care for the shrimp topping. It was very salty. For the potatoes, I didn't taste the rosemary at all and the Parmesan was powdered. I was a bit disappointed by this. I also tried to fried okras...now these were chefs kiss & they came with the fire cracker dripping sauce which was so good. I ordered extra to put on my potatoes. I've visited the Tupelo Honey location in Greenville a few times, so I was excited to hear that we were getting one in Columbia. This spot is already very popular, so I highly suggest you make a reservation via Open Table. I made reservation for 1145, arrived around 1130 amd was seated by 1138. There was a minimum of an hour wait for those who arrived the same time as I did who did not have a reservation. The location is nice and parking is available in and around the area. The ambiance of the restaurant is very nice and the staff are very friendly and already knowledgeable about the menu and what is available for substitution. I really enjoyed my brunch and will definitely be back very soon, maybe for lunch with coworkers. Highly recommend! read more

The food here is 5 stars. All the entrees and sides I've tried have been great. So far there hasn't been a thing I haven't liked. The service has also been great. I recommend the Tupelo honey chicken and waffles. If you like a little bit of spice, get the sweet and spicy version. I don't think you could go wrong ordering anything from the menu. The only complaint I have about my last experience was the wait and portion size. While the restaurant was mostly empty, we had to wait 5 to 10 minutes to be seated. I think the issue was finding a server that was willing to take another customer. In any case, it was too long for a mostly empty restaurant. Also, I ordered the chicken and waffles that arrived with only a part of a chicken breast.. All the photos on the yelp show 2 to 3 pieces of chicken. I was a little disappointed, and honestly, I left a little hungry. However, again the food tasted great. Next time I go, I'll be sure to ask for what's in the photos. Hopefully, it was a one time mistake. I do recommend this restaurant to anyone. They have a bar and even outside seating. It's a great place for families and groups.
