One of my favorite foods in this world is Korea's street food "tteokbokki". Chewy rice cakes, succulent spicy broth, delectable GOODNESS! When i tell yall I stand ten toes down on 929 Kitchen?! The bartender, Nick, is one of the coolest people I've met since coming into Columbia and im so glad I just happened upon this place. I, as a white person, was absolutely sweating bullets trying to down this dish (and I'm from Cajun country yall, spice ain't no thang for me) but woooowweee!! The restaurant itself is beautiful, the drinks were strong and delicious, and the servers/bartender were worth coming back alone. Thank you 929!

The host & server were both really sweet and I enjoyed my dinner here before my long drive back to Clemson. The food was delicious and I will definitely be coming back when I come back down for another antique day. It wasn't too noisy or bad atmosphere at all, the ambiance was great

The food tastes great but I don't really think the portion sizes match the price at all. I always leave hungry. Service is very standard. The place is very casual but the interior is beautiful. I was sort of disappointed on restaurant week when the fry went down about an hour to two before closing so I wasn't able to get anything from the majority of the menu.

We walked in and the place is gorgeous with beautiful wooden chairs. Barley tea - good Braised beef - sweet sauce, tender, delicious with the lotus root, some type of sweet potato and carrots. Bibimbap - fresh, also very good Pop mandoo - crispy, filling is delicious

This place is so good. Went during restaurant week to try them out. I went back a few months later when I came back into town. Got the short ribs again and wings - both wing flavors were amazing. The service was great during restaurant week. Waitress came and checked on us multiple times. The second time was a pick up order. Nice ambiance. The place is somewhat small but it's packed with lots of flavor.

Authentic Korean flavors with a modern twist--929 Kitchen and Bar is a gem in the Vista! I came here on a Friday night with a few friends, and from the moment we walked in, we were impressed. The atmosphere is trendy but welcoming--dim lighting, cool industrial decor, and a vibe that hits just the right balance between casual and upscale. We started with the pork mandu and kimchi fries--both were amazing. The mandu were perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, and the kimchi fries? Spicy, tangy, cheesy goodness in every bite. For the main course, I went with the Bibimbap in a hot stone bowl, and it was phenomenal. Everything was fresh and flavorful, with that satisfying sizzle when the rice hits the bowl. My friends ordered the bulgogi tacos and spicy pork--no complaints there either, and everything came out quickly and piping hot. Drinks were solid too. The cocktail menu is creative, and their Korean soju options are worth trying. Service was friendly and attentive without hovering. 929 is great for a date night, group dinner, or even just grabbing a drink and some apps at the bar. Prices are reasonable for the quality, especially considering how consistent and delicious the food is. Definitely one of my favorite spots in Columbia now. Can't wait to come back!

Great small authentic Korean restaurant. Better space for small tables. We started with Side Dish Trio (Banchan) which was a kimchi trio. Then we had the Japchae Wok-fried, clear sweet potato starch noodle with spicy pork for our protein. Service was fast with quick delivery of hot food.

We got seated right away and the service was great. I ordered the beef stir fry, kimchi cheese fries, and the dumplings it was all really good. You can even pick how spicy you want the stir fry. They give everyone chopsticks, but if you want a fork just ask. Since all the food was so good, I'd definitely come back to try more dishes, and even more sake!

Terrific experience and excited to return soon! The restaurant was maybe 90% full, but we were attended to immediately, had our drink orders inside of two minutes, an app (the fermented starters including kimchi are fantastic) only a few minutes later, and our main food orders within ten minutes of coming in. The service was excellent and incredibly fast, the food was great (I had the squid and pork belly dish, my partner had a bi bim bap with chicken), and I dig the cozy ambience. I do wish the lighting over our booth were a bit less bright but I'm sure some patrons appreciate it.

This place was so delicious! The food was fresh and so tasty. Can't wait to return to this restaurant. The server was friendly and the restaurant was clean and a fun place to hang out with friends.

Absolutely Worth the Visit! We had considered trying 929 Kitchen and Bar on a previous trip to Columbia but went elsewhere. This time, we made sure not to miss it--and we're so glad we did! The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, and the food was absolutely delicious from start to finish--appetizer, entrée, and dessert. The menu has something for everyone, from traditional Korean dishes to creative fusion options. We visited with our two young kids (ages 2 and 5), and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating. When we asked for a highchair, one of the team members not only brought it over but also took the time to sanitize the entire chair, which we really appreciated. We also asked for water for the table, and our server went above and beyond--bringing the kids water in pouches with blinking lights, which they absolutely loved. Between the great service, thoughtful touches, and incredible food, we had a fantastic experience. Highly recommend this spot if you're in Columbia!

Off street parking and also free after 7pm

Is there a parking lot for this restaurant?

Theee is not a dedicated parking spot for this restaurant but there is on street parking, first come first serve, and there is a parking lot around the corner on Lincoln Street that is metered during the weekdays.

    Is a reservation needed?

We did not have a reservation. Although I would recommend getting there early because it does back up quick with a line to eat.

The Wild Game Tasting Board was the star of the table perfect for sharing and trying something a little different. We also ordered the gator bites (a must-try!) and finished things off with cheesecake for dessert, which was the perfect sweet ending. Good service, Amazing Food. The chef really goes above and beyond! This is the perfect spot if you're looking to switch things up from your usual dinner routine and try something a little wild.

Bison, elk, boar, rabbit. These are proteins you don't see on most menus. The restaurant leans into a woodland theme with greenery hanging throughout the space. It borders on a bit much, but the open kitchen visible from the dining room grounds the whole experience and adds a nice touch of theater. The seating was comfortable and well spaced, perfect for a family dinner where you actually want to hear each other talk. Our server was outstanding, easily 5 out of 5. She knew the menu cold, offered thoughtful recommendations, and struck that ideal balance of attentive without being intrusive. She made the evening better. The drinks were mostly a win. Two cocktails were excellent, creative and well balanced. A third was over iced and fell flat. Minor miss, but worth noting. The food is where The Hollow really shines. The charcuterie board was a fantastic start, featuring a well curated spread of wild game meats, quality cheeses, fig, and mustard. The mains delivered across the board: salmon, elk, and bison all came out beautifully with great flavor and generous portions. The sides deserved their own applause, which isn't something I say often. The dessert menu was the one soft spot. Nothing grabbed our attention, so we ended up heading across the street to Kaminsky's for something sweet. For a kitchen that puts this much care into everything else, the dessert offerings felt like an afterthought. A couple of notes on the bill to be aware of: we were charged a few dollars for swapping a vegetable side. There was a 3% credit card surcharge that caught us off guard. When you're out with the family and the tab runs into the hundreds $, most folks are paying with a card. That's a fee I'd want to know about upfront. On the menu, from the server, somewhere visible before the check arrives. The bottom line: The Hollow is a creative, well executed restaurant with standout food and excellent service. If you're in Columbia, it's well worth a reservation.

A bar that doesn't have ANYTHING on draft is kind of weird. Second, I asked if their kitchen was open, and after being told it was, asked for the chicken tender basket. Only after running my card, did they tell me that they were out of fries, and I would either have to get just the tenders or sweet potato fries instead. I don't like sweet potato fries, so I paid $10 for a chicken tender "basket", which included only tenders. In my opinion, it would have been appropriate to either offer me a refund, or at least offer me a shot or more tenders for the trouble. Finally, the bar itself was pretty nasty, with broken seats, TVs that had black spots on them, and a disorganized looking vibe overall. The staff and patrons were pretty nasty as well. In all, this was one of the worst bars I've been to in a long time, I will not be coming back, and I would not recommend that anyone patronize this bar if they're looking for a high-quality experience.
