Steak frites

I had heard the new place was just as good as the Iron Hill but I was very disappointed. When we arrived, there were only 3 tables in the bar area it appeared belonged to our server. My daughter's food, chicken fingers and fries arrived first and the server seemed shocked. She went to check on it and said it was coming. 15 min later, no food Several minutes later she said it was coming. When I asked what the problem was, she said it was overdone and she asked them to remake it. I don't believe that was true because I could see the kitchen and it looked like it might not have been entered. Anyway, it arrived, no sauce and was so-so. I had to ask for ranch and wait another 10 minutes before she brought it out. I should have declined and not paid for the entree but did not want to make scene: she did not offer to fix the situation, offer an alternative. And once she got more tables, service was even worse. I should have looked at the reviews so believe them that it's not iron hill!

Honey badger burger

Last time we were visiting Columbia we went to Ironhill brewery. This time we discovered it had closed and a new brewery had taken over the space. We were familiar with Three Notch'd brewery from Richmond, Virginia and Charlottesville , Virginia )The A team (Alexis & Amber) was our energetic & informative service pair. We enjoyed the honey badger burger with hand cut fries and the southern belle with delicious sweet potato waffle fries. My mother-in-law said the Southern Belle was the best sandwich she had in awhile. Our burger had an awesome charbroiled taste and was cooked perfectly. The hot honey had a nice spicy flavor. Needs to be more attention to food temperature. I was excited to find a Hefeweizen and I also enjoyed a spicy Bloody Mary. They have a great dog-friendly outdoor space. Restaurant is a good location for large groups and provides a dedicated parking lot. They held true to their tagline and "left a mark" on us!

The drinks were excellent and definitely the highlight of the experience. Unfortunately, the food didn't meet the same standard, the chicken wings were extremely salty and hard to enjoy. On a positive note, the staff were very friendly and provided quick service, which I appreciated.

Solid spot! Much better than Iron Hill. Beer is so much better -- food isn't amazing (yet) but it's pretty good. Hope it improves over time.

The Wild Game Tasting Board was the star of the table perfect for sharing and trying something a little different. We also ordered the gator bites (a must-try!) and finished things off with cheesecake for dessert, which was the perfect sweet ending. Good service, Amazing Food. The chef really goes above and beyond! This is the perfect spot if you're looking to switch things up from your usual dinner routine and try something a little wild.

The bar tender was friendly and offered good recommendations. The not so good was the 20 minute wait for our reserved table and the dinner service which was subpar. The server was not friendly or helpful. We started with the duck wings and beet salad. The beet salad had no flavor and was overpriced for what it was. The beets and cheese were scant. For what it's worth, I make a beet salad at home that is better. My boyfriend got the duo ribs and I had the elk bolognese. The ribs were amazing especially the wild boar, but my food came out cold. It was much better heated up the next day. I had really high expectations based on other reviews but the food and service was really hit or miss here which is why I'm ranking this a 3.

The cocktails were the star of the night - ranging from $11 to $13 - both their classics and house creations were well balanced and worth trying. Table service was provided with attentive wait staff who weren't overbearing. The only miss for the night was the food. While certain items like the fries and the Brussels sprouts were great, other items like the burger and duck tacos didn't hit the mark with a burger that was too dry and overly charred and the tacos which were too gamey and could have used a some more acid. For a drink I'd certainly visit again, but would likely pass on food.

We of course had to try a slice of peanut butter cake. My husband loved it (he picked the dessert). I picked our drinks and they have an excellent drink variety. We started our meal with the queso tots and they were delicious! Wiped them out! I ordered the lobster mac and cheese and he got the philly cheesesteak. He absolutely raved about his sandwich and said it was the best he ever had. I wouldn't order the lobster mac again but it was presented beautifully. I look forward to going back and trying the mussels. I saw many of those orders coming out and definitely looked so good! Great spot to check out for drinks, desserts, and a bite!

It delivered on smokiness to the point of entertaining me too! My glass of rose was great, a normal choice for me. The gumbo had excellent flavor and the small whole bird on top was such an interesting presentation. The crispy skin had great flavor as did the chicken itself, complemented the creole flavor of the gumbo perfectly. I hate to admit that the tomato broth, dare I say gravy, kind of stole the flavor show. We both loved it. I nearly forgot I had grilled bread to accompany it as I was spooning up mussels and the delightfully flavorful tomato broth. Service was totally on point until the very end, when getting our check was a bit slow. We had a new server respond to our rescue though, and they did discount our check a bit, which was more than we were expecting. The seating arrangement for us ended up being at a communal long dining table, not a private booth. It wasn't our first date, and we loved being in the middle of the room and watching all of the dishes and drinks flow by. The view of the booth tables by the window would also make for a great view when the street is busy with ample people watching. Great experience, would definitely recommend. Take note, they do not take reservations so either come early or allow time to wait.
