After a long morning walk around San Francisco, my friends and I wanted to sit down and get our grub on. We walked past Manna in the Sunset and thought it looked good, so we doubled back and decided to give it a try. We were seated immediately, which was great. We ordered the seafood pancake, spicy pork, and sweet and sour wings. The seafood pancake had the perfect amount of umami and crunch, especially with the sauce that came with it. The spicy pork was delicious and came out sizzling hot, which made it even better. The chicken wings were also really good, the perfect balance of sweet and savory. Everything was flavorful, comforting, and hit the spot after a long walk around the city. Would definitely come back again!!!!

Order: Kimchi chige: standard soup, lots of silky tofu included along with meat but it was not spicy at all. Kimchi pancake: best dish of the night, tender interior yet the exterior can be a bit crispier. Enjoyed the vinegary dipping sauce. Kimchi fried rice: more sweet than spicy for the sauce, liked the egg on top though the dish was a bit wet. There is an always a line so maybe the wrong items were ordered? the meal wasn't satisfying. Wait posted behind the door to list your name and party size. It was packed but the turnaround time was about 30 minutes. Menus are provided for preorder if you're up next. Banchan are provided with free refills: favorite was the kimchi. Tip is calculated with the tax included so a heads up on that.

Food was great, service was great. A lot of reviews mentioned the banchan being good and to my surprise it really was! My BF really liked their kimchi. It's a small restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating available.

My Korean friend told me there's not really great Korean food in sf and that helped temper expectations. This place is a cute corner restaurant with friendly service but the food is not great. Not terrible but not very good imo. There's almost always a line, I guess it's affordable and friendly service.

This small Korean restaurant is always busy , we ordered the seafood pancakes absolutely delicious , crispy outside, soft in the center , soup was good have some spicy in it. Waitress was helpful , we will come back again !

Have been coming here since high school and it still does not disappoint! I think the popularity has blown up lately because I've seen lines the last few times I've passed by. Luckily we got a table right away on a Friday afternoon! Service is quick and efficient. Restaurant is clean and small, but comfortable. We ordered the lunch specials, 2 Korean tofu soups and soy sauce chicken wings! Both amazing, along with some of the best bonchon! Would absolutely come back!

This place was chefs kiss. Taste: I loved all the banchans and the cold noodles! So yummy. The price was reasonable too :) Parking: I won't lie, this was difficult. It's street parking so you need to get lucky. Service: Kind and accommodating

Absolutely love this place and you will not be disappointed! I love a good bibimbap and the one at Manna is so delicious! It is loaded up with veggies and flavors. Add in the kimchi they give and the house sauce, which they give for free, and it takes the dish to the next level! The staff is always super friendly and welcoming. It is a small location and can get a little cramped when it's busy, but they more than make up for this with the quality of service and food. Can't wait to come back again!

Second time frequenting Manna, didn't honestly hit the same as the first experience as the service was not up to par for some reason :( Manna has been serving the neighborhood for decades and I can see why locals love this SF Korean staple; authentic, homey, cozy, affordable hold in the wall comfort Korean food! Some notes: there is a waitlist especially on weekends where you write your name down. For some reason the experience this time around was with poor waitlist organization, another party of two that arrived late was seated before us as we were next on the list. It's a waitlist not a latelist haha! Manna serves unlimited banchans so if you're like me, free appetizers so order the entrees to your hearts content! On to the food.... BBQ chicken: tender for what it is with a sweet heat moment. Pair it with the side of white rice for a filling sizzling platter goodness Yum Gae Jang (bean sprout stew) Soft flavor profile, didn't hit as other places, probably could use more fish sauce or even MSG. Was a good pallete cleanse for the bbq chicken and ban chan but would not order again.

Has been my go-to Korean restaurant since my high school years, a Sunset district local hole-in-the-wall spot that does not disappoint and satisfies cravings for Korean food! Here are my tips and recommendations: -Expect a 10-40min wait time during peak hours (shorter times for smaller parties) -Best for parties of 2-4 people -Parking is difficult to find around Irving (take public transit like the N Judah line where possible) -I love their free complementary side dishes! And you can ask for a refill -Some of the dishes I tried: 1. Seafood pancake (appetizer): comes with a variety of seafood like shrimp and octopus, tastes fresh (not fishy), perfect with a little bit of soy sauce 2. Dae Ji Bul Kogi (spicy BBQ pork): comes out steaming and sizzling on the hot plate, flavorful grilled meat, not too spicy 3. Kanpoongki (Sweet and spicy chicken wings): super crispy skin, tender and soft inside, delicious sauce to cover it all We also got the kimchi fried rice and royal courts dok boki (rice cake and fish cake, not spicy). These are also good dishes especially if you are craving kimchi fried rice or want something not spicy. The kimchi fried rice was a little soggy this time, but otherwise pretty good. For the dok boki, I reccomend getting the spicy version if you can handle spice. Total for 4 people after tip: Around $115 (or $28.75 per person) Highly recommend this spot for smaller groups looking to eat good Korean food!

Return visit for late lunch/early dinner. We ordered the same dishes - beef bibimbap and seafood tofu soup. The dishes of ban chan were good especially the fish cake, potato strands and kimchi. The tofu soup had lots of baby oysters, clams and small shrimp, arrived piping hot and was delicious. Hubby's rice bowl had a really nice crispy rice layer on the bottom. Manna's been opened at least 10 yrs now and so good to see it's still doing great in the neighborhood.

I came here a few years ago but most recently wanted to try it out again. There's always a wait for dinner, so I recommend arriving early to grab a table inside if possible. Most of the time, you will be waiting outside which is always pretty cold at night. Theres actually very little space to move around inside so definitely keep that in mind when you visit. I got the Seafood Tofu Soup. I was quite taken back by the flavor since it tasted like they used miso as the base. Korean tofu soups typically use anchovy stock as base to give the soup a rich flavor. That was definitely a bit disappointing. They do give a decent amount of small seafood bits like mussel, clam, and squid. By the end of the meal, the soup ended up tasting very overly salty. The rice was very fresh though. This is such a popular restaurant in the area but the food quality is quite disappointing. You can definitely get better quality elsewhere for the same price.

Wowww -- I've been on the hunt for a yummy Korean restaurant in SF that's not AYCE, and this place was such a pleasant surprise! Service was fast, and all of our food came out quickly. The banchan were fresh and flavorful too, which is always a great sign. Definitely recommend putting yourself on the waitlist ahead of time because the restaurant is very small with only a few tables. Parking in the area can also be tricky, so give yourself extra time to find a spot. What we ordered: * Kalbi: delicious and grilled to perfection * Tofu soup: great flavor with the perfect amount of tofu * Kimchi fried rice: loved the egg, though I wish it was just a tad spicier *Spicy BBQ pork: served on a bed of grilled onions and super yummy -- I'm usually not a big pork fan, but I really enjoyed this dish We ordered 4 dishes for 4 people and it was the perfect amount. Would definitely come back!

Restaurants probably can't afford more labor when their own costs of food, labor, rent and insurance is so high. With that said, the food is expensive. However, the items we ordered were delicious, clean, fresh, and authentic. Ginseng chicken soup was made with love. Can't find this dish in most Korean spots! Longer wait time because it takes longer to make. Meat fell if the bone, stock was rich and not salty! You can salt it yourself! Mackerel was tasty and juicy. Probably, the best pan fried mackerel I've had. The mungbean pancake was good but not for the price. Side dishes were decent. Kimchee could be better. Location is in the heart of Japan town! That's rare. Mother approved and we will be coming back again!

And the Spicy Calamari & Bulgogi was actually $20 higher (!!!) than what's listed on Yelp (no prices on website), so find this pretty misleading. It was also overcooked, so bummer all around. Took a chance on this Japantown fav and left wishing I'd purchased basically anything else there. Apparently I'm not alone, while all the other restaurants were bustling on a busy Sunday evening, this one was virtually empty.

That could be a good or bad thing depending on the vibe you are going for. All the dishes hit their mark for me. We got: Mulhwae: very refreshing white fish sashimi with refreshing greens, citrusy sauce and strawberries. I thought the strawberries added more to the presentation than the taste. However, the dish itself was delicious. Scallops and shrimp: Similar as above, a very refreshing light appetizer. I would get either this of the other because they're kind of the same idea. Potato fritter w/ mentaiko: probably my top 1 or 2 of the night. Think fancy hashbrown with creamy umami pollock row plus more crispy toppings. This is a must-have I would say. Soft tofu soup w/ galbi: I liked the theatrical element of pouring the home-grown soy from Oakland to create the tofu right in front of you. The umami broth and the jang make this dish very rich. Another must have! Pork jowl bossam: this was a delicious take on bossam. Smokey soft jowl. The greens and kimchi accompanied it made this dish taste so healthy while satisfying your craving. If you just love buttery soft tender meat, go for it. However if you like jowl because you like the chew/bounce on every bite, you might be disappointed because this meat is super soft! Drinks: matcha colada was a little too coconuttey for me. It kind of overpowered the taste of any matcha but if you like coconut, this is a perfect visually pleasing and sweet dessert cocktail. The lychee blossom had a pleasant taste of fruit and almost tasted like there was yogurutoo or calpico in it. I much preferred this drink and it was on the sweeter side too. Overall pleasant experience, worth taking some guests or a date. Also we got 4-5 dishes but left super full! We probably would've been fine with 1 or 2 appetizers less.

Granted we were a bit late for our reservation, we ended up having to wait another 30-40 mins. The place (2nd floor) is small & awkward. You can also feel whenever the table next to us got up and stomped/yelled/moved in their chairs-- which was really often. The basic AYCE menu is fairly limited-- esp for the side options. The marinated meats were pretty good as was the tteokbokki. Side & meat portions were alright, but the kicker is having to flag down staff to make sure they put in the order & bring it out. We asked for japchae about 5 times before it actually reached our table towards the end of our meal.
