Dan tat/egg tart: 2 for 1.75 (!) Excellent. Very buttery.
    Glenn C.

I was here around 6:00 PM and as noted by others, it gets dirt cheap the later the place is open. I got two egg custard tarts/dan tats here for 1.50. Yes you read that right. The tarts were hot and fresh and very buttery with a strong egg flavor. Quite a good version here and I didn't have the issue some others noted where they tasted a bit old regardless of the time I got there. It might not be super close to the main touristy area but is that really a problem when the tarts were both fresh and delicious? It's still easily walk-able from Mott/Bayard. The women working there were also very friendly. I'll go back and get another egg custard tart or a cha siu bao which someone else in there was getting. Looked quite good. They also had a wide selection of moon cakes though they appeared to be moved around/labeled a bit off. 4.5.

Manna One is a hole in the wall... and it's BY FAR my favorite Chinese bakery. Pineapple buns (baw-law bao), roast pork buns (cha-siew bao), ham & egg buns (faw-chuy don bao), and egg custards (don tots) are all classics that I grew up on, and this place is top notch for these baked goods. The buns are sweet and moist, airy yet chewy, and somehow still manage to melt in your mouth. My all-time favorite is their waffle topped with peanut butter & sweetened condensed milk. Pair that with a "ying yang" (1/2 milk tea & 1/2 coffee) and you'll have my favorite weekend breakfast. Yum... tastes like Saturday morning. Whatever bun, bread, or pastry you decide on... it's guaranteed to be fresh and tasty. The narrow bakery is usually packed with locals and visitors who are in-the-know. Don't be shy to shout your order! Or, if you don't know Chinese... don't be shy to point at what you want!

    They have egg tarts!!

Nice little bakery where they make fresh egg tarts. Just happened pass here for coffee and behold egg tarts on the counter. I came back the following day and they lady got me hot ones. They make these little morsels of goodness here! The coffee is decent here because the place I get coffee from isn't really good to say the least. And they have an assortment of cakes and fresh baked goods here. Service was fast and friendly a little gem on Catherine.

Quick service, a few stools to sit on but otherwise a grab and go place. Pork buns were tasty.

The Mango and Pistachio looked so realistic and mirrored the flavors perfectly. I love the size of their cakes which are perfect to share with a group of 4. I indulged in their Black Sesame Mochi Cake and Blueberry Chiffon Cake which both have the fluffiest sponge cake base, a fluffy vibrant cream, and fresh ingredients and fruit. Give their drinks a try too. I enjoy their matcha here! The Traffic Lights is a strawberry matcha with a mango cream top. And I also tried their Black Sesame Latte but substituted the espresso for matcha and loved this customized pairing. FYI, there is no bathroom!

Finally decided to try this place after walking by it for years. I refused to try this in the past,…read morebecause I didn't like how many items they put on display. It felt like items weren't made with care and mass produced at a factory or something. I went 10 minutes before they closed and there was still 10+ of each dessert. I'm not convinced that they will dispose of them. Even if they do, it means they didn't do a good job in forecasting demand especially after being in business for multiple years. I ordered mango and yuzu. Both were too sweet and had one dimensional flavor and textures, not refreshing per their stated flavors. Even if their appearances take effort, they don't look pretty enough for me to forgive what goes in my mouth. I'm used to having patisseries with many layers and elements. Mango's sponge probably only took up 20% of the bottom, because I barely had bites of it. Most of my bites didn't have any. I didn't like how liquid the filling was. It didn't exactly ooze out but just melted into a puddle in my mouth. Yuzu looks pretty with the pink and yellow glaze, but it didn't go with the realistic fruit theme. I chose it for the flavor combination which is strawberry, yuzu, and guava. This was slightly better in terms of flavor variety in the mouth. The flower on top had a weird off putting flavor. The bottom crispy rice apparently is supposed to be chocolate but it came out plain. It was tasteless anyway, so not effective in terms of flavor or texture.

I had to run to work after an appointment so I ordered for takeout. The person taking my order was friendly. I opted for the Lumberjack and a black cold brew. I received the drink very quickly, with a short wait for the sandwich. While waiting, one member of the staff stocking up supplies on the side started chatting with me and then she offered to check up on my sandwich. She came out with it shortly thereafter. She was very friendly and helpful. The sandwich held up well during my 15-minute commute to the office. It is a really indulgent sandwich, with each bite revealing the sweetness and butteriness of the maple crueller, the saltiness of the thick cut bacon, and the savoriness of the cheese and the eggs as the yolks popped. I sipped the cold brew in between bites to cut the richness. It was a very satisfying meal. The Lumberjack is not something I would recommend you eat every day, but it's good as an occasional treat. In the past I've ordered lunch from Daily Provisions via delivery (the "Chefy" salad and the chicken milanese with arugula salad are my favorites), but I might start adding other breakfast sandwiches to the mix.

I had never heard of the place before, but I was happy to give it a try -- and I'm so glad I did. From the moment you walk in, the experience feels special. The store has two beautiful double doors that create such a grand entrance, and once inside, you immediately feel the energy. The place was bustling with people, and everyone seemed happy and excited -- from the customers to the team behind the counter and the baristas. The cookie case was overflowing with so many amazing choices that it was hard to decide! I ended up getting the Rocky Road cookie, a Double Chocolate Chip cookie, a Two Chip Chocolate Chip cookie, and a blueberry muffin to enjoy for breakfast the next morning. The service was absolutely impeccable, and everyone I interacted with was warm, friendly, and delightful. When I got home, I had half of the Rocky Road cookie with a cup of tea, and it was incredible. The cookie was large and chunky but still perfectly enjoyable -- not heavy or overwhelming. It literally melted in my mouth. The chocolate was rich and smooth, and every bite was just delicious. The next morning, I tried the blueberry muffin, and it was just as impressive. It was light and airy, not overly sweet like many blueberry muffins can be. It truly felt like a breakfast pastry. The blueberries tasted fresh and burst with flavor in every bite. I will definitely be back for more cookies. This was such a wonderful find, and I'm so happy my coworker introduced me to this place!
