    Happy Hour
    Cynthia R.

Mangoseed is a cozy spot that works really well for happy hour. The vibe is relaxed and intimate, with good music that sets the tone without being overpowering perfect for unwinding after work or catching up with friends. The drinks were great well-made, flavorful, and definitely the highlight of the visit. I ordered the jerk wings; the flavor was there, but they were a bit overcooked. That said, it didn't take away from the overall experience. If you're looking for a comfortable spot with solid drinks, good music, and a laid back atmosphere, Mangoseed is worth checking out, especially during happy hour.

    Jerk Fish Tacos

I just tried this restaurant for the first time for brunch with a friend yesterday after walking by for months! I was so glad we finally stopped in. The restaurant itself was nice, clean, and overall a pleasant space to sit and talk with my friend. Also our waitress was really friendly and answered our questions! I ordered a guava rosemary fizz mocktail ($9) which was really pleasant and not too sweet, which I loved! For my meal I got the jerk fish tacos ($14), which were overall very tasty. The tortilla is made with beets and has a deep purple color, the fish is salmon and seasoned super well with jerk seasoning and cooked to perfection, each taco is topped with a big scoop of guacamole, pickled cabbage, and chipotle aioli. Overall I loved the fish, it was delicious, and all of the ingredients of the taco were really tasty. I would say my only complaint is that it was sort of awkward to eat because the taco was overly stuffed, and a lot of the ingredients fell out when you ate them. It's definitely one of those things that's not an actual problem though, because they're so generous with what they give you! Overall, I will definitely go back and try other menu items. My friend ordered the quad mac, which is a mac and cheese with 4 types of cheese, and it was lovely. It's served broiled on the top and was really tasty, and she loved it.

    Brunch drink deal

I mean its ok... years ago it was honestly better. Attended the weekend brunch. The deal is pretty good 1.5 hrs you can do unlimited drinks, however it was only 1 server/ bartender and she was doing her best. It wasnt that busy in there. The food was eh ..I got the fish tacos they used salmon that was unique from the usual cod or fried white fish. It just needed a bit of salt to add some flavor. Then my friend got an order of wings. They took extremely long to come out and we were 1 of 2 tables here at the time. Whom I assumed was the manager (he didnt introduce himself )went ahead and comped the wings. Overall the experience was so so decent Playlist through an aux cord They do offer some weekly specials like Thursday 7 rum punches. And its worth checking out in this economy.

As a first timer I tried the Jerky Salmon & Strawberry Waffle, and overall it was a really enjoyable experience. The dish itself was creative and well-executed. The salmon had a nice sear, was well-seasoned, and most importantly stayed moist and flavorful. The waffle was soft and fluffy, and the strawberries with whipped cream added a fresh sweetness. The sweet and savory combination was unique. What really stood out, though, was the customer service--everyone was friendly, attentive, and welcoming throughout the visit. The ambiance was also a plus: warm, relaxed, and comfortable without feeling too casual. Overall, I'd definitely come back to try more from the menu.

I came here for brunch after the Brooklyn half and it was ok. We made a reservation but they said there was no reservation and did not want to honor it even though we showed our proof. We ordered salmon and grits and two drinks and macaroni and cheese. The macaroni and cheese was good and the salmon and grits was good too but the size was not enough food for an entree. Also the drinks were ok but I don't know if I would come back. The place is nice and the waitress was nice and it was full. The service was slow. The reservation issue was a big issue for me but they are a family business so maybe it was just an off day. If I am in the area, I would give them another try. The place has a private room in the back and it was nice with two tvs. The space is quite small so if you don't mind that then it's fine.

Mangoseed is located in the back of a bicycle store, real speakeasy vibes! It's quite a small, intimate space. I wasn't too big of a fan of the decor, but the general vibes were there. Thursday night is karaoke night so it was very entertaining listening to that during the meal. Service was great! Our server was very helpful, especially because a member of my party was vegetarian, she helped a lot with picking out what would be good for her. We started off with splitting the Mac and cheese which I think was pretty good. I had the fried chicken and waffles for my entree. I have to admit, I was feeling a little under the weather and was probably not hungry enough to eat this, but I can say it was pretty tasty. Chicken has great flavour. That waffle is THICK! But so good. They do top it with banana and cream, but I really do wish they'd put more. This place is actually really cute and if you're in the area looking for good portions, great servings and something fun to do, I would recommend it!

Mangoseed has reopened. I went for dinner and truly enjoyed the food. If you remember MangoSeed, they are back. Not in the same location but close. They took over the old Zurilee location. (Remember their oxtail pizza?) You have to enter the Burrow Brothers Bike Shop in order to visit MangoSeed. Once you do, you'll be in for a treat. Presentation, portion size, taste and soundtrack all on point. We tried the following: Jerk Salmon Tacos with homemade beet tortilla guac, pickled cabbage and chipotle aioli Braised Oxtail with rice & peas, and sautéed spinach Double Cauliflower with roasted cauliflower on a bed of creamy cauliflower puree Jerk Chicken Bites with house Jerk sauce Eddo Mash with parmesan and oxtail gravy drizzle Sugarcane Lemonade Brooklyn Mule My favorite was definitely the chicken bites. Just the right amount of spice in the Jerk sauce. I really enjoyed the tacos as well. They make their own beet tortillas.Shoutout out to the portion size for the oxtails. Had enough for leftovers. This is also a great spot for patrons who don't eat meat. Staff was nice. The music was on point! The back area is split up in 2 rooms. A tinge narrow but ample seating.

Well Mangoseed is back! Sorta??? Stopped here before heading to kings theatre for a show, it wasn't far from the venue, and the menu had appetizers we were intrested in. It has a cute speakeasy feel...after passing the bike shop area you're in a cozy restaurant with velvety furniture and decor. The space is small, but that's how speakeasy styles are. The staff was friendly buy didnt seem knowledgeable about the menu items. We know that it recently opened back but it feels like a more soft launch then we are in buissness. The food was not what we remembered from the old mangoseed and the choices were a bit limited. Nothing came out hot and we had to ask some of our accompanying sides. I'm sure with more time, things will get better.

Mangoseed is a hidden speakeasy located in the back of a bicycle store in Brooklyn NY. I was so confused when I first walked in like where is the restaurant lol. Very cute & cozy small intimate setting. They have a live Di who was playing great old a new school music. The food was so delicious with mouth watering flavors that had me going bite after bite. The customer service was top tier. My favorite was the fish tacos. It's salmon that's flavorful & spicy, in a corn tortilla topped with cabbage & guacamole, chipotle aioli. The chicken and waffles were amazing the chicken was seasoned to perfection and the waffle were thick, fluffy & moist. The fall in love drink was amazing it literally taste like a apple pie The Flatbush wings were had a sweet, smoky & spicy flavor. The quad mac was seasoned very well and had lots of cheese with a nice cheese pull.

Very cute and cozy like a little hideaway you have to go through the bike store to enter!!! The front bar has its own vibe and the back where more tables are is its own vibe! Great food I've heard but we only came for them unique drinks. Next time we'll try the food. Staff and bartender were really cool and personable. I'll definitely be back.

    Mac & Cheese and Burger

I remember the old Mangoseed and I use to love their happy hour & food. When I saw that they reopened as a speakeasy in the back of a bike shop I had to give it a try. The ambiance was nice with burgundy/velvet seating and a light up bar area. There were more seats than expected in the tiny space, but I do wonder where they'd host the Thursday karaoke (cancelled the Thursday I went) Because the space was small. I wish I got the waitress' name because she had so much personality. Didn't mind customizing the mocktail my friend had and you could tell she enjoyed people. Now the food wasn't as good as I remember, but edible. Rum punch wasnt overpowered by Wray & Nephew, Mac & cheese nice and gooey, but burger was a little sloppy and potatoes too well done. I'd still come back, but I'd have to order a different entree. Loved the intimate vibe though. And don't sit in the two seaters near the bar (cramped).

    Shadia Margarita

Slowly becoming my favorite bar in flatbush, everytime I come here I feel like I'm well catered to. The bartender (Shadia) knows how to create a welcoming atmosphere, as well as everyone else. I would reccommend anyone in the area or visiting to give this bar their company.

Unfortunately this place fell very flat. Leading with what we liked: Their mocktail offerings were good, promising a 0.0% ABV which is hard to come across when mocktails are offered. They serve oysters, which adds to that aphrodisiac experience of the oh so 'wow this is a former brothel!'. The bartenders and servers were fast and very sociable with the more sociable customers. The immediate entrance is very tight, and it was uncomfortable navigating the space. We expected there'd be more seating in the back, which there was, but it was limited and not offered to us until we asked for it. We honestly had no clue where it would be and only asked because of how this place was advertised. While it was comfy once we made our way back there, it was reminiscent of a lounge style bar space that almost any bar could replicate with the right room and budget. We didn't feel as though this hit the spot and were let down by this experience. I'm not sure if I can judge the menu of drinks/ foods as expensive, but we left hungry bc we couldn't justify some of the prices. In addition, I've seen a lot of complaints about the volume of the music: it's definitely loud at the front but a lot lower in that back lounge space. It's as loud as any bar's music level would be, but truth be told we were expecting music that matched the vibe of what was advertised and yes, at a lower volume.

I've made it a point to visit every vinyl listening bar that I learn of in town, after enjoying the shared experience of someone curating a select vinyl list in intimate spaces in Tokyo. Few have been able to replicate the experience, but Honeycomb Hi Fi Lounge comes close. That the space is narrow with just a few seats along the bar and a few tables mimics the Japanese experience best, where you can almost have it so the whole room is having one conversation together. The music is the focus. The cocktail menu is rather simple, and my Stormbringer drink, with dark rum and ginger beer was not anything to write home about, but $15 is pretty low for cocktails these days so I'll take it. If they introduced new cocktails to the menu with more interesting ingredients I'd be more inclined to return, but the vibes overall are pretty good and the staff really nice.

My friend and I each order a cocktail, and are catching up. I'm from Brooklyn, however I no longer live here, and this was precious catch-up time with my friend. Then I get interrupted mid-sentence by the old-timer DJ from his low seat in a corner behind the bar. I had bumped the bar with my wrist (bumped my wrist watch as well, not deliberately) and then placed my hand down (granted- more than placed but definitely not slammed), and he decided to warn me that I COULD HAVE made his record skip. It was the Eagles or Santana (far from eclectic, but that's just me). I'm also 99% certain he turned the volume up afterwards, making it even harder to enjoy the company. After that interaction, I struggled to pick it back up with my friend, because I found that distraction very effing rude. When this "4th wall" gets broken down with service, it is hard to then enjoy the space in an uninhibited state. I am all for the Tokyo Vinyl Bar vibe, and I'm also for also giving talent an outlet to share their collection, but this interaction colored my experience, and I closed out after one drink and went elsewhere. I mentioned this to the bartender, and he was kind to offer a buy-back of a rare whiskey, which I did accept. 5 stars for the bartender, but 1 for my experience. I don't like to be harsh or unnecessarily cruel, but this is what it is. I have visited in the past and enjoyed myself. Nonetheless, I certainly won't be coming back.
