Panang curry
Amber L.

Mango Thai is impressive! The feel is romantic, classy, and intimate. Prices for entrees range from $17-34, menu includes a wide range of apps, salads, entrees, and desserts. Wine selection is minimal but their sake is wonderful. I'd recommend the apple sake- delicious and slightly dangerous because it tastes so good. We had the Panang Curry with chicken, and the Peanut Curry with tofu. The Panang was amazing! Flavorful and chicken was very moist. Spice level for the Panang was a three, and it was spicy, but not overly and still delicious and perfect for me. My companion had the Peanut curry and raved about the Flavor as well. Service was exceptional at first, but as it got busier it was a little more difficult to get the server's attention. Overall the staff was attentive and friendly. Mango Thai is located downtown Rochester near the river on an old street with buildings from the late 1800s. I'd recommend Mango Thai if you are visiting Rochester/Mayo Clinic!

Crab Avocado Rolls

A group of us decided to dine here before a show at the Civic Center. A wise choice as the food is wonderful. There were about 5 Crab Avocado Rolls in the order and they were very good. A hint of crab and the avocado melted in your mouth. The Charcoal Grilled Shrimp were good too. We shared everything and the Tom Yum Seafood Soup, White Pepper Garlic Shrimp and Chicken Fried Rice were all amazing. The Shrimp Tempura Pad Thai was our least favorite. It is on the sweeter side and has a fishy aftertaste. The waiter did warn me. Service was good and the prices are reasonable.

Another restaurant that I tried while visiting Rochester was mango Thai. This is kind of hidden in Gym in the Rochester downtown area where the seating is limited and they don't do reservations so it's first come first serve let's talk about the ambience. It was aesthetic, dark groovy, and very pleasant. Individual tables had its own lighting and an atmosphere where you can set up to. We had a little bit of upsetting experience with some dishes we ordered and the service for that we ordered Phad Thai noodles which came out to be very sweet and unpleasant. We called the server and we told her that we didn't like it, but she did not respond to fix it or offer something else that was sad. Another dish was mango sticky rice. The rice was uncooked. The mango was super hard. It was not at all breaking with a spoon of a fork. We literally had to leave the rest of it. The magnetic rice has its own texture of mango that it should go with, but I don't think they had that if you don't have the ripe mango, please don't have this dish on your menu because it is disappointing. But moving onto the other dishes, we loved everything that we got there and we finished it .

Shrimp and chicken pad Thai

This is the 2nd best pad Thai I've ever had just short of my wife's! The noodles were perfect and the sauce had the perfect tang and sweetness. The service was fast and great. The place was kind of dark and if I had to make any critique there was only a few chunks of chicken and two shrimp. But definitely worth it!

Delightful! Such a calming Zen atmosphere. The food was authentic and beautifully presented. The depth of flavor and freshness was a surprise for the price point. Very affordable and absolutely delicious!! Fair warning-this place brings on the heat so be sure to ask them for little to no heat if you are not familiar with Thai peppers. I ordered the Pineapple Shrimp Curry and their signature Green Curry Salmon. Both just melt in your mouth fabulous. We'll be back for sure!!

Decided to go to one of my favorite spots in Rochester the other night . They were busy as expected on a Saturday night. Both my wife and myself ordered drinks off the cocktail menu . Hers was the Happy Captain and I ordered a Mango mojito. We both enjoyed them . Mine was very sweet . For dinner we shared the spring rolls and the sauce are always great . As for the entrees my wife ordered the Chicken and Shrimp Pad Tai. Her only complaint was it only had two small shrimp but plenty of chicken . I ordered the Red Curry Sea Bass with mango and Asparagus. Overall the dish was good and a nice portion. I only wish the asparagus was trimmed better at the inedible bottoms . We both enjoyed ourselves and the service was pretty good . Just some smaller complaints were the difference from 5 stars . We'll be back .

Take out : ready when I arrived but noodles are mushy, vegetables are large and uncooked and dish is overly fragrant or unbalanced, in my opinion. Rice is fine. I order this dish at every Thai restaurant that I go to and this one is disappointing.

The wallet said it would be lightly battered in tempura . It was not . Completely over cooked and sauce was over powering not allowing for great flavor of wallet to be focal point . Very disappointed !

Pad Thai Shrimp & Chicken ($14): tangy sauce, scallions, bean sprouts, shrimp and chicken served with crushed peanuts.

I went to this restaurant with some friends when I visited Rochester. The atmosphere reminds me of an expensive up-scale Minneapolis restaurant (and be careful, their bathroom is pretty much not lit at all), but I loved the vibe. We ate around 3pm in the afternoon so we were one of the only guests at the time. We were waited on almost instantly and our water was constantly refilled. Before your meal, they offer you warm towels for your hands, which I thought was very cute. The meal took about 20 or so minutes to make. I ordered their shrimp & chicken pad thai as I had never tried Thai food before, I figured pad thai was the first logical step. I was BLOWN. AWAY. The peanut sauce along with the cooked shrimp and chicken created such an amazing flavor I almost forgot to take pictures--that's how much I was enjoying it. I have been craving this dish ever since. I would highly recommend not only the shrimp & chicken pad that (which I believe was around $14) but this restaurant as well. The service was great, the atmosphere was high class and the food was superb.

Shrimp and chicken pad Thai above, spinach bean sprouts peanut curry below with chicken. I loved the latter !

Best Thai food in Rochester! A little overpriced, though. The restaurant is really cute and they have a good selection of menu items.

I typically get Salmon, Eel, and California Temaki and all of those are genuinely the best you can get in town. They dont even judge me for sometimes getting like 3-4 bowls of miso soup. Its great. Even if im not in the mood for sushi all of their appetizers are delicious and their fried rice is one of the best in town as well. The entire staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The very few times I've ever had something come out incorrect all I had to do was politely point it out and they swiftly fixed the problem, or remade it correctly. They are very fast and super attentive. The restraint itself is very clean and comfortable.

This place does have really good food - no question there. Everything I've had (across teriyaki,…read moretempura, sushi, rolls, handrolls, other apps, soup) has been great. Couple of odd things, one of them keeping me from being there eating dinner right now because I'd -really- like some sushi and they're right down the street: 1. the place has three websites. I'm not referring to the fact there's a North and a South location, or referring to Yelp or anything - just... three different websites. It's strange. 2. They charge a 33% uplift for all-you-can-eat dinner, at near-zero value-add. I know this because I went in, had the dinner, and found out at bill time it was uplifted over lunch... simply by virtue of being dinner. I understand that "dinner", time-wise, tends to mean different portion sizes in other contexts, different staffing levels, it's where you make your money unless you are a bar, etc. And in this case they broaden the menu slightly, adding sashimi as an option. I'm not a chef but I'm thinking that takes less labor to produce than about anything else. On the flip side of that, I'm sure sashimi, if someone was determined, is the fastest avenue for the restaurant to burn through material cost... if someone came in for three hours eating sashimi 5 pieces at a time and got away with it. That's the risk of running any all-you-can-eat offering - sometimes the bull, sometimes the horns. The food, cleanliness, staff etc is, without question, great. I'll definitely eat lunch there in the future.

She was an absolute gem--friendly, attentive, and genuinely interested in getting to know our family dynamic. Before she left, she was saying, "pass this to mommy, this is grandma's, etc." SO cute! She offered great recommendations, and put some minds at ease for first time sushi goers, which made it all the more fun. I will note that we had some folks doing AYCE, and others ordered Ala carte, and this made no difference to our waitress, or Kumo! The Ala carte portion sizes were huge! The food? Hot, fresh, and delivered with lightning speed. Like seriously, I thought they had secret microphones under the table. We couldn't believe how quickly everything arrived--no waiting around, just one delicious dish after another. And let me tell you, we left so miserably full that we could barely waddle out the door, but it was worth every bite. If you're looking for excellent service, delicious food, and a great vibe, Kumo Sushi is great - go!

We stayed at the hotel and just wanted to eat/drink without having to go out in the cold. It was around 7 pm and we thought it would be busy for a Saturday, it was not. There were three of us. We were seated right away. At first, we had one server who took our drink orders and then he got busy with other tables so we were forgotten about for about 10 minutes before ordering. But, that was alright. Gigi, became our server and she was also bartending. She was the best! She was on it. After dinner, a large group came into the bar and she was pumping those drinks out so fast. My brother-in-law ordered a 3 course meal off the guest appreciation menu, which was a great deal for $39.00. My husband and I ordered the calamari for an appetizer. This was the only thing we were disappointed with as the aioli had no flavor nor did the calamari. We ordered sushi, the California Roll and Spider Roll, both very delicious. We enjoyed our experience. If ever in the area, we will definitely return!
