The people there were great and really welcoming! And the food there was so good! I was really pleased with what they had it delicious! I would eat it every day if I could! Their prices were also reasonable for sushi. It was amazing!!!

Let me start off by saying the food had a very clean taste, not fishy. We stopped on our way through town on Labor Day. They had dinner prices all day so we opted for one roll each. We got the Big Crunch roll. It was good and I'd order it again. We also go the king crab roll. There was A LOT of crunch in it. So much so that the first piece I ate seemed like it was crunch and rice only. No flavor. The rest of the roll had hardly any crab at all. I couldn't taste it in any bite. For an almost $20 roll I'd expected more.

Good quality delicious sushi! Can skip the fried ice-cream. The sauce for the salad is delicious and also the teriyaki sauce.

I didn't expect to find this treasure in Rochester! I am very impressed by the price of sushi considering Minnesota isn't the closest to the ocean. This place has a variety of rolls, but you can also order bentos and all you can eat. I went for a bento box. It comes with soup and the standard variety meal. What's surprising that even the bento sushi was top quality! The wait staff was a bit slow, but to be fair there were lots of people there for dinner the day I went. The tempura on the side was given VERY generously. I honestly like how well priced everything here is and what quality too! I also ordered their mochi ice cream. It was standard, but I didn't like the addition whipped topping and pizzazz that they added on top. Mochi ice cream is fine the way it is, but that's just me nitpicking at this point. Overall, I would come again. I think the only downside is that it's farther away from the Mayo Clinic campus, so you need a car to get there, since it's too far to walk.

The wait staff was very pleasant. I was even offered a refill on ginger, once I finished all mine. I don't recall that ever happening before. The lunch buffet is a solid deal for $16.99, especially if you eat a lot. There is a specific list of appetizers, hibachi meals, and sushi, which is available for the lunch buffet specials. There are also non-buffet lunch specials. The sushi & appetizers were all decent. Nothing spectacular, but I got full, and definitely got my money's worth. The smoked salmon was my favorite. For the dinner buffet, I know more sushi options are available. The service was a little on the slow side. I've been to AYCE sushi places before with faster service, even with a large crowd. It took awhile to get waited on, and I was the 1st person in the restaurant for lunch. I also think it's kind of lame that you can only order 3 rolls at once. Especially if one pays, as a customer, for uneaten sushi. I understand why it is done though. People will probably get tired of waiting for refill orders, so they in return will leave.

Best sushi I've had since moving into the area. Once the economy gets better this place will be popping again!

I'm not sushi expert but I didn't care for it. We did the lunch buffet menu, but maybe if we did the supper one it would have been better.

Shoyo ramen is authentic. I have been to Japan 3 times. The taste is exactly the same as I had in Hokkaido. Highly recommend it.

Tried the "All you can eat sushi". Skimp on the protein but that's how "All you can't eat sushi" usually goes.

Recently, I returned to this mall and looked at the options at the food court. I saw Yihi Japan, which is a Japanese stall where you can get teriyaki dishes and more. I have a soft spot for teriyaki fast food at malls. There used to be an excellent one at Markville Mall. When the mall renovated its food court area to be more upscale, this mom-and-pop stall shuttered for good. I decided to try Yihi Japan out. There were three men behind the counter. I was looking at the menu and one of them gave me a chicken morsel smothered in some sweet honey sauce on a toothpick. The chicken was yummy and the light batter around it was delicious. The sauce was too sweet for my liking, but it did have some tang to it that I enjoyed. I am a teriyaki person. The special was beef and chicken teriyaki for $12.59. I decided to splurge and got the beef and shrimp teriyaki with veggies on fried rice for $12.99. The three men were not Japanese. They were Latinos. Never judge a book by its cover. I had yummy pizza in Stockholm several years back. The man who made it was Chinese. I also got a fountain drink with my meal. I ordered a Diet Pepsi. I paid with a credit card. I got my drink first and sipped it as I waited. It was icy cold and hit the spot. One of the men was training another guy at the grill. I waited and watched. He asked if I wanted veggies, including mushrooms. Yes, please! I saw my food get carefully placed in my styrofoam container. Sadly, both my drink and this container were styrofoam. I hope that changes down the road. I let the man who had prepared my food know that he did a great job. He smiled, obviously proud of his accomplishment. I placed my drink on the tray with my food and headed to a table at the food court to chow down. There is wifi available, but it is spotty. It was enough for me to play a game on my phone as I ate. My beef and shrimp teriyaki was yummy. The beef was done perfectly. I loved the mushrooms, broccoli, and other veggies that came with my meal. The shrimp was also done perfectly. They weren't rubbery at all. The sodium level was rather high in the teriyaki sauce and proteins, though. I wish that it wasn't so salty. It became a bit of a vicious cycle to drink more because I was thirsty. Luckily, my feet didn't swell up! Yihi Japan is a nice addition to the food court. A&W has always been there, but it's nice to order food that isn't strictly labelled American at this food court. (21)

She was an absolute gem--friendly, attentive, and genuinely interested in getting to know our family dynamic. Before she left, she was saying, "pass this to mommy, this is grandma's, etc." SO cute! She offered great recommendations, and put some minds at ease for first time sushi goers, which made it all the more fun. I will note that we had some folks doing AYCE, and others ordered Ala carte, and this made no difference to our waitress, or Kumo! The Ala carte portion sizes were huge! The food? Hot, fresh, and delivered with lightning speed. Like seriously, I thought they had secret microphones under the table. We couldn't believe how quickly everything arrived--no waiting around, just one delicious dish after another. And let me tell you, we left so miserably full that we could barely waddle out the door, but it was worth every bite. If you're looking for excellent service, delicious food, and a great vibe, Kumo Sushi is great - go!
