Was a huge fan of Raj's previous restaurant, Taj India, which was located in downtown Hagerstown. Was in disbelief when they had closed, as their food was the freshest and tastiest Indian cuisine that I had ever had. I was ecstatic to hear that Raj had relocated and the food quality is out of this world! I recommend the Sunday lunch buffet. Raj always provides fresh garlic or plain naan, sauces, and vegetarian/vegan choices. Five stars for the food and service. We feel so lucky that the Mango Grill opened here on the east side of Hagerstown. The food is just incredible, the best Indian food in our area. The menu contains page after page of wonderful unique choices. Plus the buffet has many wonderful delicious veggie, chicken, and goat dishes. The onion fritters were just incredible crispy, with fresh onion complimented by the spicy dipping sauces. But the Lazeez Shrimp Saag was the best shrimp dish I have had in a long time, the jumbo shrimps were cooked to perfection and the spinach complimented each bite. The cooked to order Naan bread was thin puffy crispy and served warm, it was amazing, we ate it all! The Mango Grill is a great addition to the area and I urge everyone to try this great restaurant as soon as possible, they just opened and they are already our favorite for Indian food. read more

This is possibly the best Indian food I've ever had anywhere. I ate here with my family while visiting over the holidays and it was so good that I had to go back a second time for the lunch buffet before leaving. The service was also incredible. My mom is a very picky eater and they were extremely nice about helping her find something she would like on the menu. She ended up really enjoying her meal (Mango Chicken), which was a first for Indian food for her. Everything I tried was amazing, but my favorites were the Eggplant Bhartha, Badshahi Pista Chicken Pasanda, Tandoori Lamb Chops, and Vegetable Pakora. I met up with a friend for lunch on a Friday. It was very busy. I was seated immediately to one of the last tables, even though my party wasn't complete. The host stated I would be waiting if he didn't seat me immediately. I appreciated that! Food: They deliver naan bread to the table. It was delicious! The food was buffet style with a mixture of everything. It has been about 10 years that I've ate Indian food, but it was really good. However, I was a little disappointed that rice pudding was the only "dessert" option. Not a big deal, but the American fatty in me likes options. LOL Atmosphere: I loved that the music was eastern. It brought a lot of atmosphere to the resturaunt. The dining area was set up a little odd. I didn't like that the buffet was next to the entrance. The walls had some eastern decor but mostly just a mustard yellow. Price: The buffet cost was $10.55 for lunch. That is kind of pricey for lunch but given that it costs more to make Indian/Thai food because of the spices I felt that it was fair as it was a buffet. Service: The staff was attentive to everyone, clearing plates and filling water. They were very kind but kind of rushed us out after we were done to move along business. Suggestion for company: Add some more Eastern decor to allow guests to observe more of the culture. Rearrange the dining room, moving the buffet away from the entrance. I found God in their Chicken Tikka Masala. Their menu says it is their signature dish and the best in the region- no joke, it is the best. Complex flavor profile that takes you to church with every bite. Mango Cafe is the best spot in Hagerstown for complex Indian and Thai favors. I wish I had two stomachs so I could have enjoyed more of their enticing menu. They have 3 varieties of Naan, and they're all delicious. They also offer a diverse vegetarian menu as well as some gluten free options, so almost anyone with any nuanced palate can enjoy a bite here. I love Indian food. I first tried it as an american exchange student in England in 1979. My Indian buddies introduced me to it. The food in the school cafeteria was virtually inedible. We went for "a curry" at least 4 times a week. Pretty much like we went for pizza at home. The skill with which my chicken Khaddai was prepared was nothing short of remarkable. So many herbs and spices combined in perfect balance to create an amazingly exotic and delicious dish. The servers working during that particular shifts were not very good with the menu itself thou they were very friendly. The server got us our food but couldn't remember what she got while serving. We ordered Pista chicken pasanda, chicken biryani, garlic naan. Pista chicken pasanda - Was okay. Nothing special about it to try the entree again. It comes with complimentary rice. Chicken biryani - was good but too oily. Again it was not the best. The raita was very fresh and very tasty. Garlic naan - it was way to crunchy. Overall the food was OK. The service was good. When you are here don't skip on freshly made naan plain or garlic they were yummy, it was nice and hot and crispy. They have a few Thai items on the buffet but the Indian dishes looks so good you need to try to sample them all. The owner is very attentive he clear out dishes and refill our glass often. I order the mango lassie it was pretty good but was missing is ground pistachio. We went a little after 12noon there were not many customers in there but it seem like he does have regular customer in there a lot. The place is small with at least ten tables arrangement with accommodation between two to four people if you come in with big group they can easily put table and chair together. Wow! What a gem! We were on the road trip and I was looking for some options to eat thinking that it would be difficult to find a good place here on the road, and INDIAN! Well, my bad. It's been loooong time and I almost lost my hope to eat a very very decent Hindustani food in the US. I don't have complaints about the taste. This was an amazing experience! On our first visit, we ordered the Gobi Manchurian as an appetizer. It was more than incredible; I honestly wanted a second order. Truthfully, it was the most flavorful thing I've tasted in my entire life of 52 years. The Chicken Tikka Masala was wonderful as well, as was the naan. I've been here twice and had quite different experiences each time. The first time, I went to the lunch buffet with a friend. The food ranged from ok to delicious, the price was decent, and the service was fine. I especially liked the chicken tikka masala. I'd rate the experience a 4. The last time, I went here for dinner by myself. The waitress was horrible, she tried to make me feel bad for being alone ("you're all by yourself?" she said, looking bitchy). How shocking, I've never been critiqued before by wait staff when I've eaten alone. She also seated me right under a blaring speaker and seemed annoyed when I chose to move to another table (there was literally NO other customer in the place and there was no reason she should be upset that I wanted to move). There was just something way off about this woman, the whole time she was aiming attitude towards me and I'd done nothing to her. I got the chicken tikka masala that I had enjoyed from the buffet, and the flavor was still good, but the portion of chicken was small for the price (I was left with a bunch of rice and sauce). They charged $2.50 for a very small bottle of diet coke! And the chicken came out way too quickly to have been prepared fresh. Leaving food sitting during a buffet is ok; serving food that's been sitting at dinner, when you're charging a lot more, is not. I might go back here sometime for the buffet if someone wanted to, but frankly if I see that waitress again I will turn around and leave. read more

I recommend the buffet, particularly if you are either new to Indian food or just enjoy sampling a variety of options. This route is also a great value, no matter how much you plan on eating.
