This is a long overdue review. We used to live in Phoenix and after we moved, my boyfriend and I would drive back to Phoenix just to get our haircuts with Josey. She was meticulous, a great listener, and amazing stylist. She cross cuts everything, and it grows out really well. My boyfriend is very particular and does not want a barbershop cut - scissor skills only, no electric razor. Josey is our favorite and we've lived in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Diego - and searched for stylists in each location. It's hard for us to get back nowadays, but we are always sending our local friends to Mane Attraction. Our friends are happy with other stylists too; you probably can't go wrong here, since everyone is trained by the owner. read more

I got my hair done by Reese , I just did a walk in appointment and needed a trim . The front desk ladies are always so accommodating , sweet and knowledgeable. Reese came by and express my concerns and she really understood what I was talking about and I mean REALLY understood . She is great for anyone with curly hair . Never in my life have a had a hairstylist that listen well to my concerns as her. She even told me in general what products my hair would strive on . Five star experience! Newer to town and looking for a stylist, I found Mane Attraction through a Yelp Elite event last month. The event was SO informative and made such an impression that I knew I had to go back just as soon as I was ready for my next hair appointment. I went in this past weekend for a haircut and highlight with Sye (who is such a sweetheart) and it came out amazing! She gave excellent and realistic recommendations during the consult and made sure she understood my hair care routine. I loved the added luxurious features - who doesn't love a shoulder, neck, and scalp massage in a calming wash station room complete with soothing music and mood lighting? While I love Bumble and Bumble products, I also appreciated the fact they don't push their products on you. The only thing amiss was that the toner was left in my hair just a tad too long and some of my front stands had a very faint violet hue. What I'm sure could be a day ruiner for some was no biggie to me. Sye immediately let me know about it, offered to wash it out (it rinses out on it's own in 1 or 2 washes, not permanent) and let me know she'd make a note in the future about it so it wouldn't happen again. While I feel some hairdressers would brush this under the rug, I liked that she acknowledged it head on and offered to rinse it out herself. For the attention to detail, luxurious add-ons, and overall talent (they really invest in their stylists with training), this place is worth the extra $. read more

I have been coming to Mane Attraction and have been a client of Reese's for a year. She has been the best with seeing my vision in my hair and prepping me for my wedding to be blonde with dimension! Reese will be my lifetime hairstylist. Not only does she highlight beautifully and add what I want, she also explains what she is doing and why she's doing it then asks for my approval. She is constantly validating my feelings and wants. About 6 months ago I mentioned I needed a face moisturizer and she told me about Aveda. I tried the product and now I will only purchase Aveda moisturizer I love it so much and because of that I have expanded my Aveda line product because of Reese. She did my bridal hair color for my wedding and it was perfect! I've been able to build this wonderful relationship with Reese and I couldn't be more thankful for her. Following years of neglect for myself, I decided to treat myself for my upcoming 75th birthday. I had frequented Mane Attraction years ago when they first opened so I decided to check back with them and after seeing their rave reviews I decided to return and I'm so happy that I did. Jocelyn was a delight. She was polite, professional and very attentive. She proved to me that this was a definite treat that I deserved and that I would definitely return much, much sooner, like in about 4-6 weeks. I've been a customer here for 40 years, but with new management, the customer service has declined, and the new owners aren't concerned. I checked in 5 minutes early for my appointment, racing to get there on time. After a half hour, and watching patron after patron getting escorted back, Sarah noticed I'd been waiting awhile. She said my stylist was walking up, but she never appeared, so I finally left. When I got home, the owner called, saying my stylist was running a half hour behind. But upon check in, no one told me this. My patronage of 40 years meant nothing to the new, very inexperienced owner. All I got was a sheepish "sorry". I miss the original owner, Mario, and especially the wonderful Beatte and Kendall. All true professionals who knew how to run a successful salon. read more

Good: I like the look of the salon, love the inclusion of cat and dog rescue mixed into the salon. Bad: there is a push for sales but not on their customer service. Make sure you cancel a particular service ahead of time over the phone because you can't do that while you are there or you will hear it. Yikes sorry. Yes I agree ,if possible, but the delivery of the message was cold and b*tchy. At the end booked me for the same services without asking me if I want the same services. I surely don't want to make that mistake again. Cashier would not honor yelp free check in item, even though there is a large sigh outside telling customers to use yelp. I'm the laziest person on God's green earth when it comes to getting a haircut. Like many men, my philosophy is "wait to get a haircut until I'm tired of looking at myself". I Yelped this place last minute, drove there, and was pretty surprised. The place is so ritzy! During cool evenings, the entire storefront is "open" so anyone could walk in. The AC is blaring, products are elegantly placed for prospect to use, and by the time you finish looking around, there's a glass of wine in your hand. I Yelp'd a free conditioning treatment. I was thrilled to find that I got a head massage too. After a few minutes, I was introduced to my hilarious hairdresser Jen. She was really outgoing and conversed with me about a variety of topics (keeping me laughing) while she carefully cut my hair. The coolest thing about the cut was the fact that she hand-cut my hair in places where other hairdressers use a electric razor... the cut ended up more precise because of it. By the end of the cut, I was a laughing, tipsy GQ model. The only thing I was sad about was the $50 I had to spend for a men's cut, but it was certainly an experience! read more

I came in with a horrible choppy haircut from a barber shop and Roseanna fixed everything about it. She gave me my volume back too, my hair was so flat from the previous haircut and now it is full and has volume. It's perfectly evened out and everything is perfect about it. I Went back into the salon and Chris the owner fixed the mistakes to accommodate what I had originally went in for. My first impression was horrible unfortunately . I went in for a consultation with Kelly, nice people. I expressed that I'm dealing with alopecia and I'm also rockin a platinum blonde pixie. She said she blocked out a chink of time to see how I lift, less than an hour into my appt ( i was 8 minutes late) she said we are short on time and a co worker would cut. She left it at banana yellow roots, over toned, and no cut. I walked back To the chair my phone and purse were gone and a woman was sitting in the chair . Kelly was there with my purse practically throwing me out of the salon collecting her money, yellow roots, lavender tips and no hair cut. I know people like to eat, but that's pretty pigish And then to have the odasidy to ask for a review...wow I would be embarrassed. And I still tipped 30% because of the effort she put toward educating me on the bleaching process and using fine products. But just like the rest they know what they are doing they are just sloppy because they would rather juggle customers doing a half a$$ job but with a smile collect ur money and clearly eat good... I came in for a Brazilian Blowout express and haircut. The stylist was professional and friendly. Service was excellent for the most part. unfortunately she cut my hair too short and while it will grow back later, I don't think I achieved the look I was going for. I think the stylist put too much focus on the blowout and did not carefully trim my hair. I understand the price I paid was mostly for the blowout but I am so distracted by the choppy look, it's keeping me from enjoy my blowout. Not really the feeling you want when you paid so much for it. Im still giving them 4 stars for professionalism. read more

Khala is a master colorist and she is the first one to ever make my hair do what I envisioned.

I saw Heather at this salon for three years, and she was incredible. I always loved my haircuts and how she styled my hair to fit my face shape. I moved to California, but wish I could have taken her skills with me. She took the time to get to know my hair needs, walked me through her suggestions and cut my hair in way that it delicately fell into place. Also, she was always kind, cheerful and showed a deep knowledge and passion for her work. Definitely a five star experience. I highly recommend her! The salon is very nice as well. They offer you a drink and the reception desk is welcoming. The owner is very involved, and keeps the place high-end with skilled and passionate stylists. read more

I scheduled an appointment for 1/31, I originally scheduled it for the morning but they called me back and told me they would move me to 1pm for a consultation and if my hair was okay they would proceed with the process. Unfortunately when they said they could dye my hair, they said there wasn't enough time and i would have to reschedule another appointment. They charged $25 and said it would be put towards my appointment but I needed my hair done that week preferably the day i had scheduled to get my hair done. I told them but they said "oh well then i guess you don't get the $25 back." I was just disappointed because i already scheduled an appointment for the morning to get it done but they moved me to 1pm and i didn't even get my hair done. I was there for nearly 2 hours, just sitting there and got charged $25. I have been here in the past, Randi though does a great job on cutting bangs and adding some volume to your hair! read more

For what you pay, and the result, I feel like I could have done much, much better. The color is good, but so far the cut is NOT rocking my world! In fact, I may need to have it fixed elsewhere. I'm going to give it a few days before making the final decision. After all the fantastic reviews, I really expected more. I felt the employees were insincere with their gushing compliments about my hair. Personally, I thought I looked like I just came home from the beach - not good. UPDATE: After washing and styling it myself, I think it will be okay. The stylist refused to follow through on our original plan, though, so the front is still too long throughout IMHO. I'll live with it until my next cut, and don't plan on returning to MA. read more

But it was 249 too much especially after driving an hour there and being there 5 hours only having my roots highlighted.
