Orange Chicken
Jill G.

This is the tail of 2 dishes and our experience was a mixed bag. On one hand, the orange chicken was amazing! Maybe the best I've ever had while their Dan dan noodle was the worst I've experienced. Weird flavor. We ended up just sharing the orange chicken. Which was fine by us because the portions were huge!! The staff was very friendly and attentive. The interior is well decorated and upscale feeling but the music selection was jazz, great for a steak and martini but did nothing for the rest of the wonderful atmosphere. The staff did comp the dan dan. We will be back but a few changes could make this place stellar.

Classy, excellent service, and great food sum up Mandarin Taste pretty well. I am surprised by how beautiful the restaurant looks. I love everything about it from the parking to the outside patio and to the inside. Every table has a centerpiece of fresh flowers. To me, the restaurant is immaculate. The service was truly exceptional on this visit. The server was attentive, friendly, and efficient. The menu at Mandarin Taste is extensive including traditional Chinese entrees, a little bit of dim sum, and hot pot. I would say the dim sum is lacking and doesn't have a lot of items. The hot pot is expensive. The pork dumplings in spicy sauce were delicious and so was the black pepper beef on hot plate. The beef was a little sweet but it had a good taste. The tomato egg drop soup was okay. The portion size of the entrees was large. A little pricy but not much compared to other Chinese restaurants. I am not sure why the review of Mandarin Taste is so low but I would definitely recommend. This is one of the few restaurants I would not read the reviews before trying. It is a lot better than what's being said.

The food was great and authentic! The only thing needed was better portion sizes I feel like something the portion size were a little small for the price. I do not recommend the matcha ice cream it was really gritty and had fatty cream chunks. The service was great our server was really attentive and didn't bother us but still took care of us well. The restaurant itself is very nice and decorated well, really a step up from the old location.

Food was very good! I ordered the Kimchi Beef Fried Rice. The rice was very fresh and flavorful, beef was seasoned well. The serving size was pretty large, it was enough for two meals. The restraunt has a beautiful design and they have a patio if you want to eat outside, thanks!

Outstanding Asian cuisine, like I've eaten while traveling overseas. This is not your typical Chinese-American buffet style food.

Kung Pao Chicken, empty bowl

We've been meaning to try this place and finally dropped in. And we were pleasantly surprised. It was really good flavors. I mean, Lo Mein noodles can be kinda boring, but this was really tasty. The veggies were crisp and not over cooked. The Kung Pao was pretty good too. I ate it all as you can tell. Sorry, I was so hungry I forgot to snap a pic. Here's the big question. Would I come back????? Yes I would. I would like to try the Hot Pot next time. I think they may not offer it every time because it wasn't on our menu. But everything considered, I gave it 4 stars.

Chicken Fried Rice

Mandarin Taste offers a delightful experience with its standout dish, the black pepper beef on a hot plate--perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. The crispy duck is a unique option, though I might not order it frequently due to other appealing protein choices. The lower prices of other protein options that I like better make me feel like "cool, I tried the duck, it was decent, I don't need to do it again". The chicken fried rice was tasty and they don't skimp on the chicken . The veggie lo mein is lovely, especially with its sizable broccoli chunks. Efficient staff ensures hot food, although friendliness is basic. The clean and inviting ambiance adds to the overall appeal. While some claim it's the best in town, I'm still deciding, but it's certainly among the top contenders.

I've been here once before at their old location so I wanted to check out this new location. Love the new building and decor. Very nice! We ordered the pepper steak, pineapple sweet and sour chicken, taiyaki. I loved the pineapple sweet and sour chicken! The only thing I would change would be to not cut the pineapple so close to the core because most of the pineapple chunks were really hard. The pepper steak was way too tender for my liking. But the flavors of the sauce was really good. Our server seemed like it was his first night? Food came out fast.

The restaurant is really pretty. It's bright and open which I love. Beautiful inside and a nice outside dining space too. The staff is friendly and helped me with entree selection which I appreciated. The dumplings were so yummy and had just the right amount of heat. Spicy black bean cilantro chicken has a ton of flavor! So glad I went with mild to spicy for this dish. Large portions meant leftovers for a second meal...winning! My friend got the orange chicken and it was delicious too. My son enjoyed her leftovers. He's a teenager and not always easy to please. I cannot wait to go back and check out other items.

Hot Green Tea

First of all, it was one of the only places open on a snowy cold day in Tulsa. Our service was very personalized and they suggested a hot green tea which was actually perfect on a cold day. My wife had the orange chicken and I thought it was fabulous, especially because it is white meat chicken I had the cilantro beef and it was perfectly cooked and amazing.

This was a perfect meal, from the friendly smile and greeting when we walked in, to the delicious leftovers the next day. In between was good service, fabulous fragrant flavorful food served in a nicely decorated restaurant with an upscale feel. I have not been in any other Chinese restaurant in Tulsa that is more comfortable, has a nicer indoor dining area and such a large patio. The restaurant is first class. Even the to-go bag for the leftovers was above the ordinary. The delicious looking Spicy Water Boiled Beef with Vegetables, on the restaurant's online menu, spoke to me. That was my choice. In the restaurant, I got side tracked by the Cilantro Chicken. It was a perfect meal for me, but it is not for everyone. You better like cilantro, ginger, garlic and hot chili peppers. If you do, here is a meal that you will remember. All of those ingredients are stir fried with small pieces of white meat chicken and black beans. This is a fresh piquant aromatic plate of food. You can taste every savory flavor. An amazing balance of spice. Yes, I loved it and the leftovers. My wife had one of her favorites Coconut Chicken. It is was one of several great lunch specials. The generous main dish comes with your choice of soup, (the hot and sour is excellent) two eggrolls and your choice of rice. My wife loved it! Check the pictures. I was surprised and pleased with the dining experience. Nice restaurant excellent food. Spicy Water Boiled Beef with Vegetables, on the next visit.

Terrible. I placed a to-go order and it took them 1.5 hours to make my food. I assumed it would be awhile so i waited 30 minutes but when i arrived i waited for a full hour at the restaurant for my food. They checked on me but they didn't seem to be in any rush... and the worst part is they weren't even full. I expressed my concerns when i was paying for the food when it eventually arrived. They threw in two egg rolls and 4 rangoons... I'm sorry but my time is not worth those mediocre fried food. I've never been treated as poorly as then.

You can get all the common dishes here but you can also get some unusual dishes that are very authentic. My grandson once ordered jelly fish. You can't get that at very many local restaurants. Another thing I like is that they have a couple of large round tables with lazy Susans. Our extended family sat at one of those tables once. It was fun putting the things we wanted to share on the lazy Susan and being able to spin it around and try what we wanted. It made for fun conversation talking about the different dishes. That was when our grandson ordered jellyfish. The restaurant is fairly small but the large tables make the restaurant good for groups. I think this would be an excellent place for a Yelp event. They have a lunch menu but you have to ask for it. It includes some of the popular Asian dishes for $9:95. They have smaller portions that come with a choice of soup or egg roll. Danny and I asked to see the lunch menu, but decided to order off the main menu. We split Crispy Tofu with garlic sauce and egg rolls. I liked the presentation of the egg rolls. They were cut diagonally and arranged nicely on the plate. The tofu dish was quite tasty. Next time, I plan to get Mei Fun. I have had it here before and loved the variety of flavors. The service wasn't terrible but it wasn't wonderful. We got our food in a timely manner, but we felt rushed to order and she didn't check to see if we needed anything or refill our water glasses. Service here has been excellent in the past. I am glad we came back to Chengdu and were reminded of how much we like it. We will be back soon.

The restaurant still caters Korean/Chinese food hybrid, predominantly Chinese food though. A few positive features worth mentioning. I really like the inside of this restaurant. It always appears very clean. The food is relatively cheap when comparing to the like of Chengdu. Hot tea is served in a hot tea pot, not in a cup. YES! YES!! YES!!! I feel like the Korean food at Chopsticks lack the "Korean" flavor. If the server did not tell me the Jampong soup is Korean, I would have thought it's Chinese. The beansprouts, cucumbers, Napa cabbage, and seafood scream out Korean but the taste says something otherwise. It really does have a generic taste. The Mapo tofu has soft tofu in some sort of shredded meat sauce. It's a little salty but goes well with white rice. The white rice was a little hard on this particular visit. I guess it's going to be another 6-12 months for me to come back to try Chopsticks again. Sigh...

My group and I ordered about 13 dishes total, and that didn't even make a dent in their big menu. Overall, the food was good, the vibes were nice, the staff were nice but the service was a bit slow. As soon as we got there, they stayed getting very busy, so we do have a little grace to the staff. There were some standout dishes the I will absolutely get again if I come back, some decent dishes that weren't bad or amazing, and some dishes that will not be ordering again. Must try: - Soup dumplings were spectacular, very flavorful and greatly priced. - Shrimp dumplings in chili oil, the sauce wasn't really a chili oil but a sweet soy sauce, I wasn't mad because it was delicious and the shrimp was meaty and flavorful. - Beef flat noodle stir fry was delicious, stand out dish. The noodles were flat and wide and flavorful, and the beef was tender. It had this amazing charred wok hei flavor that elevated the dish, and very reasonably priced. - Fish fillet with eggplant in clay pot was delicious as well. Flavor profile is more on the subtle side, but the fish and eggplant worked together so well and were very soft and tender. The sauce was this light black peppered soy sauce that had a hint of sweetness, amazing over rice. - Fried rice was delicious as well. They cooked it in a WOK so it had that charred wok hei flavor that I've never tasted at any other restaurant. That extra flavor alone makes it worth trying. Dishes that missed: - mapu tofu had to much sezchuan, it was a overwhelming flavor and it overpowered the entire dish leaving a numbing soapy sensation. It didn't have much flavor besides the sezchuan. - Braised pork belly, I wished it was more tender and had more flavor, it was salty and didn't have much depth to the sauce. If you're Asian, then you're very familiar with the various braised pork belly dishes and the complex flavors they have, but this one didn't hit.
