It's been ages since we have been to Chengdu. I don't know why because it's probably my favorite Asian restaurant. I like it because of its authenticity. You can get all the common dishes here but you can also get some unusual dishes that are very authentic. My grandson once ordered jelly fish. You can't get that at very many local restaurants. Another thing I like is that they have a couple of large round tables with lazy Susans. Our extended family sat at one of those tables once. It was fun putting the things we wanted to share on the lazy Susan and being able to spin it around and try what we wanted. It made for fun conversation talking about the different dishes. That was when our grandson ordered jellyfish. The restaurant is fairly small but the large tables make the restaurant good for groups. I think this would be an excellent place for a Yelp event. They have a lunch menu but you have to ask for it. It includes some of the popular Asian dishes for $9:95. They have smaller portions that come with a choice of soup or egg roll. Danny and I asked to see the lunch menu, but decided to order off the main menu. We split Crispy Tofu with garlic sauce and egg rolls. I liked the presentation of the egg rolls. They were cut diagonally and arranged nicely on the plate. The tofu dish was quite tasty. Next time, I plan to get Mei Fun. I have had it here before and loved the variety of flavors. The service wasn't terrible but it wasn't wonderful. We got our food in a timely manner, but we felt rushed to order and she didn't check to see if we needed anything or refill our water glasses. Service here has been excellent in the past. I am glad we came back to Chengdu and were reminded of how much we like it. We will be back soon. read more

This location is in a shared plaza with lots of parking. When you walk in there is a lovely waterfall like decor. There is minimal decor on the the walls. We had a small group and were able to get a table right away. Our table had a lazy susan in the center which is great for groups. The service was efficient and our food came out quickly. Our waitress did check on us periodically and did refill drinks. The portion size of the food was good and a little salty. I enjoyed the green beans but they had a little bit of a lemony flavor that had a weird after taste. I think the Kung Pao could have used a little more heat. Our food was quite tasty. We had an egg roll appetizer and chose to split an order of Crispy Tofu with garlic sauce.. very generous portion, more than enough for the two of us. Eye pleasing presentation and delicious. Large well lit room with just the right amount of Asian decor. Service was just OK. My empty water glass remained so. But all in all pleasant lunch. Sunday night 7:30 no diners, just a steady stream of people picking up takeout orders. We got seated and drinks right away. The ambiance is nice, family style with booths and tables. The tvs are not on, so that's nice. There is a lovely water fountain with plants at the front. We ordered hot & sour soup, beef pad Thai and Mongolian beef with white rice. The soup was fine, not much different from what we can get at other places. The pad Thai had small pieces of beef, not spicy hot but a good flavor. My husband's Mongolian beef tasted good as did the rice! Unfortunately, they have Pepsi, no Coke. We want to come back and try the 1/2 roast duck. We had better szechuan food in other places. If you do get mapo tofu, don't get the regular mapo tofu, as it had no flavor. They have two kinds of mapo tofu, get the szechuan spicy tofu, not sure the flavor profile, but I'm sure it's a lot better than mapo tofu :) The service was good, as we were the only ones when we entered, but the place did get busy. read more

I had questions on how some of the dishes were prepared and are they served cold or hot. Used google translate nicely. Calm chill ambiance, wasn't busy at all and nice water fountain feature in the front with a calming effect. Table was sticky and needed an extra cleaning. Server wasn't as attentive as needed once food delivered to table. Lots of food and bit costly in relation to portion size. But I would say it's fresh cooked to order, so little longer wait time. This is top 3 Chinese restaurants for me in the Tulsa metro! Let's start with the food. It's kinda fancy for what it is. You can get some more run of the mill traditional dishes, or you can go all out here and get some dishes that are total eye candy and equally delicious. The ambiance is not the best, but it's welcoming. The last business was bright and vibrant and had southern fair. Not too many changes were made, but again it's comfortable but nothing to write home about. I've never had bad service here. My last trip in our server was incredibly attentive and friendly. Second time dining at Chengdu! First was seated inside dining with family last weekend for lunch. All very good and tasty. Combination Lo Mein, Sweet and Sour Chicken, Fried Dumplings, Braised Pork, Fried Rice and ended with the Fried Donuts, Yummy! The second time was tonight's dinner to go! Took about 45 minutes of wait and it was worth it. We ordered yummy Steamed Dumplings, Delicious Orange Chicken, House Special Tasty Udon and Sizzling Beef Short Ribs. I do not come here enough! I really have enjoyed everything I've tried at ChengDu. The service is fast and the food is excellent. I honestly have really enjoyed every meal I've eaten here and feel like they provide good portion and the protein never feels skimped. I also enjoy that I feel like I can take anyone here-a client, friends, my child, date night, and it won't feel like we don't belong. It's a great neutral spot for any occasion if you've got Chinese and Thai food lovers. There is likely going to be a language barrier when ordering because these folks are all straight from Asia and learning English. If I'm going for an international dining meal, I love going to a restaurant and struggling with a language barrier to order. Some folks get mad, but for me, knowing that the person taking my order has a little barrier makes me know that the food is going to be delicious and authentic. Please don't let a little repeating yourself and need for annunciation put you in a bad headspace about this spot or any others that are serving new-to-you dishes. The staff are kind and friendly. This was our first time at Chengdu. It was recommended by a friend so our group of 6 visited recently. We were promptly seated at a round private booth near the front of the restaurant. It was comfortable and amazingly quiet. In fact, the entire restaurant was subdued in volume apparently due to very effective acoustic panels in the ceiling. The restaurant was mostly full yet it was not noisy. I wish I could say that for most restaurants but sadly I can't. It took us a while to peruse the extensive menu. When we were finally ready to order we had to flag our server down. Once orders were taken it took close to 20 minutes before our meals were served. The plates were nice and the servings were generous. I ordered for an appetizer, Hot & Sour Soup and Vegetable Rolls. For the Entree, Chicken with Mixed Vegetables ($12.95,) served with brown sauce and a side of white rice (fried rice is an option). Tiramisu for dessert. Everything was excellent. My soup was hot temperature wise and very tasty. I enjoyed the vegetable rolls as well. The chicken with mixed vegetables was large enough that I was able to share the plate with my wife. Lots of veggies with an appropriate amount of chicken and the brown sauce was just right. The side of white rice was great. The Tiramisu was nearly frozen and not at all what I would consider typical. It looked like Tiramisu but had whipped cream with a heavy drizzle of chocolate syrup over it. Not my favorite by a long shot. Table service started off OK but towards the middle and end of our meal, the server was absent. We sat for at least 10-15 minutes waiting for the bill and finally had to flag our server down again. Overall it was a great meal with a very nice and quiet ambience. We would definitely visit again. One of the better Chinese restaurants that we've visited in Tulsa. read more

Skip over this review if you only order American Chinese dishes. We've been looking to try this restaurant since moving to Tulsa and we were glad to enjoy their dishes! The restaurant is tastefully decorated. The koi lanterns and water features were nice. We heard that the dim sum menu was new. However, it did seem a bit overpriced, but it's not like Chengdu is competing with other dim sum places in the area (Mandarin Taste's dim sum = junk). We opt to try the shu mais anyway. However, they were just ok. We ordered the beef and tripe in chili oil. This was delicious in a generous portion! To the less adventurous eaters, this was spicy and very garlicky! Next was the dry pot cauliflower and wow, that was SO good! The pork belly in it melts in your mouth and the sauce that came with it was top notch. It was a tad bit pricey, but worth it. It took a while to get the Szechuan pork. Honestly, I think they get so many Americans ordering American Chinese food, that authentic dishes like this probably throw them out of the usual loop and so it took a while for them to make this dish for us, which was fine. This dish was VERY spicy, but also pretty good! Shoutout to Vicki for being a great waitress attending to us! Overall, Chengdu was a great find and I would encourage people to try their other authentic dishes. Orange chicken is not authentic, please get out of your comfort zone. This place does not feel like typical Tulsa! It's really good with much more authentic choices. Feels like a something from a bigger city such as NYC or SF. We were pleasantly surprised going here, everything was full of flavor and perfectly cooked. Go there and give it a try! read more

Instead of providing new food or a refund the owner told me to wait 5 mins while she went to pick up food delivered to someone else. I was appalled at the lack of honesty and customer service, willingness to give food that was at someone's house to us. They told me the owner had to refund us and they "were not able to do it". 30 minutes later they returned. We took the food with us because we were worried they'd try and give it to other people. Please avoid. Pretty dishonest and disturbing! We will never return. read more

Can you ever go wrong with Asian food? Some of you may say yes. For me, it's seems like it's all the same, but today, it was different. Green tea first. My daughter ordered the wonton soup, but she felt the soul could have used more flavor, I agreed. The chicken fried rice was expected, delish. I order the spicy pork dumpling, and that was very good. The roasted duck dish was flavorful, and we enjoyed assembling the bao with the sliced veggies and duck/duck sauce. We also had the pad Thai, and it was alright! (I swear, better the day after!). We were on a road trip traveling through Tulsa and somehow made our way to Chengdu for dinner. We eat a lot of Chinese and this is one of the best we've have had in a long time. Why is it so hard to find? We only ordered two dishes, cumin beef and Singapore noodles both were excellent. If I lived here I would eat here regularly. The food here was absolutely amazing, it was all fresh and a really good consistency. Me and my family got the Crab Rangoon and Egg Rolls as the appetizers and they were delicious, the Crab Rangoon was creamy on the inside with a nice crispy outside, and the Egg Rolls were AMAZING, probably the best I've ever had. For my meal I got the West Lake Style Beef Soup, it was pretty tasty and warm, the cilantro added a really nice flavoring to it and the amount I got was quite a lot! I had enough soup to take home for leftovers and share with my family, which our waitress offered small bowls for all of us to have some. Overall a really good place, I would 100% go again, good service, fresh and tasty food, and the inside is pretty nice! Overall, I would say the experience was good, but I am just a picky eater. I was hoping the food would be spicier than it was, and although I expect the large amounts of oil, it still was a little too much. Also, the picture of the bamboo dish in the menu was much different from the real-life presentation; so much less and skinnier pieces of bamboo T^T Now for the good points: - shredded pork with bamboo shoots: despite having smaller pieces of bamboo, it tasted savory and had a good chewy but easy-to-eat texture. The bonsai tree decoration on the plate was cute, too. - beef with spicy tofu: the tofu was super silky but easily broke, and beef was cooked nicely. Spice level could've been a little hotter (but that's subjective and coming from someone with high spice tolerance haha). - spicy/numbing seafood stew (can't remember the name): it wasn't numbing lol. Extended family spoke highly of this place as they ordered a large order for my cousin's funeral prior. I ordered a large order for my extended family and I before heading back home. Customer service was patient and helpful. They were able to accommodate a large order to go in the same day. They charge for a fried shrimp tray by per shrimp. We ordered full tray of shrimp, half trays of bokchoy, sesame chicken, beef chowfun, and a couple orders of the eggplant tofu.... And they gave us a free half tray of rice! Thank you! I can't speak on the tastes of the meat dishes as I'm vegetarian. The eggplant tofu was really good! I enjoyed the freshness of the bokchoy. All the food was eaten - and that must mean something! Well, the reviews didn't lie. My wife and I were eager to visit, after reading some great reviews of Chengdu. I'm glad we listened! We tried several dishes, had plenty while we were there, and had enough left over to feed our kids dinner later that evening! The dining room was large, with several large tables to accommodate larger groups. The service was fast and attentive. They were working hard, and were quite friendly. The food was excellent. We ordered Crab Rangoon, Kung Pao Chicken, Orange Chicken and General Tso's Chicken. They were all good, but my favorites were the Crab Rangoon (FANTASTIC!), and General Tso's. Everything tasted fresh (not too heavy) and bright. It was a little more expensive than other places in town, but it was absolutely worth it. We will definitely be back soon! read more

Since moving back from Dallas, I've been dying to find an authentic Chinese restaurant with a good variety of dishes especially Sichuan dishes. This is the goat. Restaurant is clean, service is amazing, and our waitress was extremely friendly and informative. We got our favorite the Sichuan Chicken with pepper, mapo tofu, yangzhou fried rice, dumplings in spicy soup (?), and braised pork. Everything was delicious. I've been hearing about this place for a while and so I finally got a group of friends together to try out many of their dishes. It was a big hit and we came away stuffed, satisfied and with leftovers. Since there was six of us, we got to sit in one of the round tables with a lazy Susan and did family style even with two vegetarians. My favorite was the salt & pepper crispy tofu! So crispy and delicious flavor (there was no leftovers of that one though ). I personally ordered the pickled fish fillet and it did not disappoint. Had plenty for leftovers! The Chengdu hot chili chicken was delicious but not very spicy. Great texture though. The sizzling boiled beef was tasty. The Singapore Mei fun was standard and tasty. The eggplant with garlic sauce was good. The pork dumplings with hot chili oil were good. The vegetable spring rolls were also good. Overall, for all the chili peppers, we all did not think the dishes we ordered were particularly spicy but they were flavorful and we will be back. Service was great and though she did not speak very good English, she did her best and was very attentive. FYI, entrees (but not noodles) come with white rice. If you choose fried rice, it is a $2 up charge. We also got an extra bowl of white rice and it was $3. So glad to have found a good quality Chinese place in Tulsa!
