It's been a while since I came back to Chopsticks. Not much has changed. A few items have been removed from the menu. The restaurant still caters Korean/Chinese food hybrid, predominantly Chinese food though. A few positive features worth mentioning. I really like the inside of this restaurant. It always appears very clean. The food is relatively cheap when comparing to the like of Chengdu. Hot tea is served in a hot tea pot, not in a cup. YES! YES!! YES!!! I feel like the Korean food at Chopsticks lack the "Korean" flavor. If the server did not tell me the Jampong soup is Korean, I would have thought it's Chinese. The beansprouts, cucumbers, Napa cabbage, and seafood scream out Korean but the taste says something otherwise. It really does have a generic taste. The Mapo tofu has soft tofu in some sort of shredded meat sauce. It's a little salty but goes well with white rice. The white rice was a little hard on this particular visit. This updated review pains me to write... chopsticks had been my favorite Chinese restaurant basically since they opened. When I moved out of Tulsa in 2015, I made sure to eat there every single time I visited town (which is at least once a year). Unfortunately, on my last recent visit, the food had sharply declined in quality. Others had told me it had declined the last year or so, but obviously I had to try it myself. They clearly changed the lo mein recipe A LOT. It used to be my favorite lo mein on the planet, now it's so painfully average you could get the same lo mein anywhere else. The vegetables and tofu also weren't as flavorful, not was the kung pao chicken. The sesame chicken was still pretty good, as were the egg rolls. I'm BEGGING you all to please bring back the old lo mein recipe and go back to what you were doing before. There's a reason you survived in that cursed strip mall for so long while so many other businesses failed. Your old recipes competed with Flushing Queens (NYC, best Chinatown in the country) and now your food is average. read more

I prefer the ambiance of a nice sit down, clean restaurant, good food and decent service. This is a lovely place to go with your family, or if you want to wind down, scroll your phone, and are in need for some quiet time alone. We ordered the delicious cheese wontons that came with a sweet and sour sauce. That we inhaled in 10 seconds! Our main dishes were the beef and broccoli with added veggies, and the shrimp and lobster sauce, which seemed like a nice pair since one is so savory (beef and broccoli) and the shrimp in the lobster sauce was a "lighter" fare. Both were delicious, and came with either fried or steamed rice. The service was ok. I always appreciate good hospitality. But the time it took for the food to prepare in a nice place, was great!! We enjoyed our first experience at Chopsticks. Upon entering, the restaurant was clean and nice looking. They bring out wonton crisps with sweet and sour sauce which were good. We started off by ordering some egg rolls which were delicious and crispy! My husband ordered chicken egg foo young, my MIL ordered sesame chicken, and I ordered orange chicken. I really enjoyed my Orange chicken and loved that it came with broccoli. My MIL stated she liked the sesame chicken but that she has had the General Tso's chicken at Chopsticks and enjoyed it slightly more. My husband liked the flavor of his egg foo young but said it was a bit floury and needed a bit more cooking. Our server was very kind and made sure we were taken care of throughout the meal. We had the hot garlic chicken, which had a lot of vegetables so be prepared for that and I got the general tso's chicken and that was delicious and spicy their eggrolls were delicious. Thinking of recent experiences of eating at Chinese restaurants. Then there was so much food on the plate that it was a meal in the restaurant, and a meal in a go box for tomorrow. Now, shrinking portions. This inflation is killing everyone! Entering the restaurant. With an expressionless face, the waitress directed us to sit where we like. There was no wasted effort on a smile or a greeting. Chinese chips and salsa came to the table. The waitress impatiently waited for our response to her "what do you want to drink?" Returning quickly with the drinks, her deadpan face solicited our food order. I had barely completed verbalizing my order and she was gone, returning hurriedly to the kitchen before I was able to request an order of egg rolls. I flagged her back and got the order in. I'm glad I did!! Like a mask her, facial expression never varied at each interaction. My efforts to try to get her to reflect a smile was wasted. The service was adequate. The egg rolls were delivered. The first bite was delicious. It is unusual to describe an egg roll as light. They seemed light. Not fat, heavy, greasy, fried eggrolls. The filling was seasoned, lightly; just enough to tame to cabbage flavor, but not hide it. A light crispy fried wrapper took good to excellent! My wife's meal came with soup. She ordered the Hot and Sour. Great flavor. Noticeably absent were mushrooms, tofu, or chicken; the ingredients usually found in a fully loaded Hot and Sour soup. A couple of bamboo slivers and streaks of egg. That was it! Our food arrived. I delayed the dining a minute to capture a picture. Completed, lunch resumed, and my wife was just about to stick a chunk of chicken when the waitress reappeared. She hastily grabbed the plate. Without expression explained she had delivered the wrong meal. No chicken was missing from someone else's order! Cautiously adhering to Americanized versions of Chinese food, my wife ordered General Tso's. The first plate mistakenly delivered to her was Sesame Chicken. I got a picture! I went with the Hot Garlic Chicken. Check the pictures and the menu for details of each. Here is what stood out on both meals. First, white meat chicken. No mysterious knuckles of chicken meat. Then the sauces. Slightly sweet, but not overly sticky, syrupy sauces. Nice flavors and just enough heat to make them enjoyable. I like the cooking here. Very Good! read more

The Moo Goo Gai pan tasted good but the hot garlic eggplant was ok. We order the hot garlic eggplant to not be spicy but the eggplants were not well cooked. The eggplant skin was hard and didn't have much garlic flavor. We also did not have a good experience as the dishes we ordered had a lot of juice and sauce. We were wanting to take our leftovers to go. The owner insisted on giving us foam to go containers despite all the juices left. We were wanting a plastic to go container so we didn't have the dishes spill in the plastic bag. We asked twice and was still told no because they said the plastic Togo container is expensive. Workers were wearing masks, and people were seated spread apart. Our waitress was also sweet when she came around, and not intrusive. On my recent visit here, I don't remember that we got the yummy wonton chips with sweet and sour sauce that we've been given in the past. I hope they haven't done away with doing that, because I thought it was a really clever idea that other places don't do, and they were tasty too! Crossing my fingers they just forgot them! We did order the spring roll appetizer, which were very good. Nice and crispy, warm, the meat inside was juicy and flavorful, and there was a good amount of the filling. For my main meal I got the orange chicken. I don't normally go so basic, but I was in the mood for something not spicy (rare, I know!) and a little more simple. I also liked that the menu said it was made with freshly squeezed orange brown sauce, so I figured that made it a bit more interesting and less of the typical orange chicken you'd get at a chain. I'm glad I chose to keep it simple for once, because it's just what I wanted at the time and so I enjoyed it. The outside of the chicken was super crispy. The chicken itself was a little dry, maybe because I think they deep fry it, but it was still good. The sauce was mild, but it is actually worthy of being called "orange" aside from just based on color. It almost had that acidic/ bitter citrus taste, but not in a bad way, and still had some sweetness to it too. They included an orange slice, which I liked, and used to squeeze some extra orange flavor onto the chicken. It came with rice and broccoli. I'm not really a huge fan of cooked broccoli to start with, so it wasn't my favorite, but it was fine and I ate it. The rice was standard but really helped round out the meal. read more

I ordered egg foo young and I have no idea what they served me but it wasn't egg foo young. The patty was like a Jewish latke and all of the meat and veggies was in the gravy which I've never seen before. It was so salty and burnt tasting that I couldn't barely even eat it. The sweet and sour chicken was tender and crispy. A craving for Chinese food sent me on a quick search for a heretofore fruitless search for good Chinese food in Tulsa. I ordered my safe default of sweet and sour chicken with fried rice and 2 egg rolls from a reasonably priced lunch special menu. I was presented with a basket of crispy fried won ton. "A good start" I thought. My food arrived Quickly nice and hot. It was picturesque. Too picturesque for my taste. The "fried" rice sat perfectly domed shape on the white plate flanked by two smallish egg rolls. The perfectly fried chicken was decorated with slivers of blanched carrot, chunks of raw green peppers and white onion and slivers of semi cooked pineapple. As it turned out the rice was hardly fried. "A bowl of milk and some sugar and this rice would make a good breakfast" I thought to myself. The skins of the egg rolls were perfectly crisp and tasty but the contents somewhat mushy and lacking in flavor. The chicken was just fine but the accompanying sauce lacked. A solid C of a meal. Good quality food with good service but lacking the pizazz of an inspired chef and flavor of imagination. Perhaps other dishes are worth trying. I would come back for a chance to see. read more

Today is the first time I've eaten at Chopsticks. I must say, I was delightfully surprised! I was there at lunchtime, so ordered off the lunch menu. Their prices are very reasonable! I had the moo goo gai pan. It came with soup, egg roll, and rice. All of this tasted so fresh and delicious. The moo goo gai pan was NOT floating in oil on the platter, as most Chinese places seem to do in the Tulsa metro area. This is REAL restaurant quality food, not fast food Chinese food. I appreciated that it the chicken wasn't thinly sliced white meat with NO fat or gristle hanging on it. I realize this is the first time I ate here, but I'm thinking this might be my favorite Chinese restaurant in Tulsa area. It reminded me of the Chinese food we used to eat 50 years ago, before Chinese restaurants started becoming Americanized fast food version of Chinese food. This is a small simple Resturant. It was very clean. The way they have arranged the seating, you didn't have the next table 18 inches away. It was very pleasant. The service was very good as well. It is a very relaxing atmosphere. This is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in Tulsa. I usually get the sesame chicken with steam rice, and they are both delicious. The hot and sour soup here is also very flavorful. This place also has some of my favorite spring rolls, which are like your typical spring rolls except they are extremely crunchy (which I like) and have tons of vegetables in them (which is something I also like). The only problem with this place is that service can sometimes be a bit slow, as it can occasionally take a while for a person to receive their food here. Overall though, the service here doesn't really change the fact that the food here is very good (especially since the service isn't bad here that often). read more

Was stuck home lunchtime so I ordered delivery (via GrubHub). I ordered and paid for a full dinner sized entree w/ rice, and 2 apps. I received a lunch size meal, no rice. Food was alright, waitress was more concerned about schmoozing an older couple who did not know what we ordered. On their way our, she enthusiastically pointed out the dish we had, that they were not familiar to. Which is fine, they must of been regulars. It must be a theme in tulsa, to give Asian people bad service, because when I asked for the yellow radish, danmuji, she seemed to get agitated. She did gave me the danmuji plus the onions as well, which is what usually gets served with the black bean noodle dish I get. I won't be coming back, it's always disheartening when you get bad service because of the way you look/way you may tip. Which we did do, tip at least 20%, even with bad service. I grew up in Boston and this is the closest to east coast Asian food that you're going to get in Tulsa. When I first moved here in the 00's, it was hard to find any restaurant that even came close to my tastes, but when I finally found Chopsticks, it felt like home. Over the years, they have only got better. My favorite meal is the Moo Goo Gai Pan - a go to meal to let me know if the place is good or not. The chicken is excellent and the food is never over salted or filled with MSG like some other places. The veggies are fresh and great and the sides and appetizers are perfect. The staff are so nice! I really love getting my food here, too. And there are so many things to eat on the menu - if you want to branch out into new and interesting foods, you can find Korean and other Asian food on the menu. There are other places that are ok in Tulsa, but Chopsticks is the best! read more

I have been on a hunt for hot/spicy general tso's chicken since my favorite place in OKC closed down about 4 years ago. This restaurant is not what I remembered. We came in later than earlier around 820pm. That was our mistake. The eggroll appetizer tasted old, as if it had been refried for warmth. Our entree was hot and delicious except for the crepes that came out in plastic wrap were cold. I could tell our server was tired.
