The Beef or Chicken Broccoli is a good classic choice. The egg drop soup is also good and the egg rolls never disappoint. The family and staff are always super friendly. If you want a food galore then Golden Gate Restaurant is your place. Everything here is abundant. They have the largest egg rolls which are the highlight of the restaurant. For me, it was alright. It was filling but lacked the crunchiness that makes egg rolls great in the first place. Their combo dinner can feed 2 people. The Hawaiian shrimp was good. I liked the pineapple in it. Obviously, they were canned pineapple. The garlic chicken was okay. Each chicken tender was covered by a large amount of batter. By the time you've finished the egg roll and 1 garlic chicken, you're full. No public restroom hinders customers from dine-in. As a result, all orders were to-go. This is sad considering the restaurant is not too shabby and the tables and chairs are nice. Golden Gate Restaurant definitely has the quantity. If this is what's important for you, then look no further. If you value quality, look elsewhere because this is not it. read more

I've always gone here and got their incredible eggrolls, which I still say are the best in town. But for the first time, my friends and I ate there for dinner, they only had one person serving The entire restaurant so service was slow. It was difficult to get a refill and we decided to try their buffet plate. I should've asked what was on it because it was a lot of fried not so great tasting things, I'm sure maybe some of the other food is actually good and we should've tried some thing off the menu but we did the buffet plate and it was a mistake. I would not recommend it, nor would I eat it again. It's a small restaurant and it was definitely busy. There were people who had to wait to sit and eat and they also had a lot of takeout orders so the food is probably good but I will have to go back and try some thing off the menu. read more

Had GG many years ago, and we tried it recently as it's been featured quite a bit on local social media pages. And it's been quite heavily favored. We ordered a garlic chicken and sweet sour pork dinner special and a combo meal of sweet and sour chicken and pepper steak. Various accompaniments included a huge egg roll, fried rice, an onion ring, and a fried wonton skin. The order took 45 minutes which they disclosed upfront - not an issue, but note it does take time during peak times. Pepper steak was not peppery at all - it was a generous portion and the onions were really well cooked. Fried rice was blah (technical term)... sweet and sour chicken was like a sliced up chicken katsu - it was good and glad it was not the usual massively breaded chicken chunk. The egg roll is nice - large and very traditional. The best part was the real hot mustard!! Talk about it a wake up call - I give that 5-stars on its own. The garlic chicken was so-so; lacked flavor - but tender. Fried pork was typical over breaded pork chunk - veggies such as broccoli were good and had nice color. I can see where GG is popular - it's decent traditional Chinese, but it's not spectacular. However perhaps we need to try to some other dishes. Will report back if we do!! read more

This was hands down the best food and customer service I've ever experienced. From the moment I called to place my order, I knew I was in for something special. I didn't even need to look at a menu--I knew what I wanted because it was Chinese food. I ordered Orange Chicken, and let me tell you, it was perfection. Lightly breaded, perfectly crispy, and somehow still juicy. The sauce? Next level--made with fresh oranges and light in both color and texture. YUM! It came with white rice, and I decided to add what I thought was "Chicken Teriyaki on a stick." The owner kindly corrected me, explaining that it was actually beef on a stick but similar to what I was describing. He even walked me through the price of each item. When I got to the restaurant to pick up my order, I was asked politely to wait since everything is made fresh to order. While waiting, I struck up a conversation with the owner. He shared that he and his team have been running this place for 43 years--WOW! That level of dedication really shows. He even asked if I liked Egg Drop Soup, and when I accidentally shouted "YES!" a little too enthusiastically, he surprised me with a huge container of it--for free. Amazing customer service, so friendly and genuine. When I got home, my wife and I offered a prayer to thank God for the meal, and then... we dug in. And let me tell you--my taste buds were NOT ready. The Orange Chicken was sitting in that fresh, zesty sauce, soaking up all the goodness. Then I tried the beef stick... HOLY CRAP. I dunked it in the Egg Drop Soup, and my mind was blown. It was chaos at the table--our hands were colliding as we fought for more, the sounds of chomping, moans, and groans filling the room. I was so impressed that I had to call the restaurant to let them know they just changed my life. I mean, the food was THAT good. Don't know why it took so long to get back here. Things just slowed after Covid. . . Hubby & I stopped in for lunch. With limited experience here and such a vast menu and knowing it's all awesome; starving, we decided on the buffet. I'd heard good things from a friend about it but didn't quite understand. Remember the place is so small there's no space for a "buffet". I thought from said friend that it was hidden in the back :-) No. They bring you everything on a big plate and promise to bring you more of anything you want. You start w/ soup. The delivered plate is huge and has, I know, 1/2 a chicken in the different dishes. The garlic chicken is to die for. Everything's not fried and is tasty as can be. Also pork. Little broccoli on plate. And it's all topped with an onion ring. But not just any onion ring. I don't know how they batter/fry it but it's huge, fluffy and tastes like heaven! Writing this just makes me want to dash over there! Don't listen to bad reviews. And if you find little plexiglass tip vessels odd, it is. So? Don't use them. Put your tip on your cc. I don't understand the appeal. The food is greasy, as in, VERY greasy and oily. The flavor is dull. I really do not appreciate the pressure to tip that is stated on the tacky boxes mounted to the wall. I will always happily tip for good service, but this is off-putting. It's also tiny and the decor could use some major updating. I ordered the General Tso's Chicken and fried Rice. The chicken tasted ok and my food came out in a timely manner. I had an egg roll. It was huge! It tasted ok. The fried rice was bad. The service was not good. There were 3 of us. My sister and I received our food quickly, but the waitress gave the table next to us (that came in after us) my Mom's food. She finally got her order after we were finished. Mom said that it didn't taste fully cooked. There was only one waitress and she was not very attentive. It is a small location. It's advertised as a buffet. It is not. They have one "special " that is all you can eat. We were informed that it was not all you can eat tonight. I do not recommend this place at all. read more

If you ask for soy sauce, you'll get 6 cheap packets for 3 people, 2 soy sauces per person? Are we being for real? $62.10 for that?! Luckily you get large portions, but I'm not sure if it makes up for that considering half of the chicken was quite literally BLACK, and the rice all tasted charred! I went here for one thing, CRAB RANGOONS! I saw a review for them on TikTok, and needed to see for myself. They are HUGE. Literally as big as my face in length. The filling is so good as well!!! Not to sweet, but sweet enough, love the lumps of imitation crab, and LOVE the tiny bits of water chestnut inside. The best Rangoons I have ever had. They are $2.99 a piece, but so worth it! The staff was so kind and you could tell anyone who came in to pick up food were regulars. The owner knew everyone's name and they all spoke to each other like friends. Back to the food, this turned into 3 meals. I've never had Peking Beef before but the flavor was outstanding. I went in wanting something spicy that had meat and vegetables. This absolutely hit the spot. The crab ragoon even had crab pieces in it, I was surprised. That was the biggest egg roll and crab ragoon I have ever seen! My wife and I first went here in April 2023. It was then, and is now, consistent in providing hot and tasty food - with a side of kind conversation. Brandon and his wife are the owners. They are both very kind and will ask about you and your family...and they will recall previous interactions. They're nice people. The food is very good. Their egg drop soup with chicken is excellent and I'd recommend it. They also, as others have mentioned, have AMAZING egg rolls. That's probably my favorite thing there. They offer a buffet. It is handled in a fashion where you first order it and then they come back to the table and ask if you'd like more of any of those items. This buffet includes a soup (again, if recommended the egg drop). We have never had a meal here that was anything less than excellent. The service is also very attentive and they'll bring you anything you need...just ask. The interior of the restaurant is nice. They have Chinese lanterns hanging from the ceiling and it's peaceful inside. It is a smaller restaurant with a cash register to the right side. Sometimes, when they're super busy, there will be a line through the restaurant. This line is comprised of those picking up takeout orders and those who are paying for their sit-down meals. We've put off eating here a few times due to the price of the entrees. We finally gave in and are glad we did. It was amazing. I had the general tso's chicken, it was amazing and spicy. My boyfriend had the sesame chicken and was great, the only down fall was not enough sauce. Both came with fried rice, in cute little containers. The rice was just okay. The chicken was in styrofoam containers and then wrapped with Saran wrap to keep hot, sauce provided in different containers. We also got two egg rolls that were huge and delicious, we could have a split one. All in all next time we will just order the general tso's and get sauce from the store to split an entree. We ordered the chicken and broccoli, general tso, and an egg roll. The chicken in the general tso was just a box of breaded chicken and the sauce was on side. Even when added together, the sauce was way too spicy. Then the egg roll was too big. You don't need an egg roll that big. Lastly, the chicken and broccoli had little sauce that tasted weird. So my husband and I love this place. Normally when you get Chinese takeout it taste like it comes from a bag, or has been on the buffet line for to long. This place is by far the best, it's always fresh and you can tell that they actually make everything there from scratch. They also give you a lot of food. My husband is usually the person to pick up our food and he says it's always clean inside, which is a really bug deal to me. He also says the owner is very nice and always remembers him, which I think is really special. This is the only Chinese food place that we really love! read more
