This means that your AppleCare will be honored here. I have taken my personal and work equipment here for about five years and they consistently make great, affordable repairs. As an example, last week, I had a right fan stop working on my MacBookPro . 1 month after my Apple Care expired. Ugh. I called three of the leading repair places in Los Angeles. Manco was able to do it for cheaper and faster than anyone else and they use OE parts. Most of all, I can trust them. I've only had very good experiences here. These Mac experts have been at this same location for more than a decade with no advertising. Since they are under the radar, all of their business comes from word-of-mouth. That's how I found out about them--from students at Art Center. Once I brought a laser printer, with a very bad paper jam to them after I had called around and no one else would even look at it for less than $125. Les worked on it for about 20 minutes, fixed it, and didn't charge me (I wasn't getting anything else done). This and several other experiences with them has led me to trust them completely. Although good work on computers doesn't come cheap, it costs a lot less if you're not paying for things that aren't broke... They'll update your programs, replace your CD burner, load new programs, sell you computers and back up drives, add memory, any and everything you might need for your Mac. Jerry is great and stuck with me for hours resolving some really whacked email issues. I highly recommend the experts at Manco. As a side note, I suggest you check whomever you want to use for computer repairs with the BBB (www.bbb.org). There are some very shady computer repair places around here. Boy, do I love these guys! My '09 MacBook pro wasn't loading. I tried and tried to get it to work. I called these guys , whom I had used before and brought it in. Hey, I love the Apple Store, but if you want great service at a more than fair price given by warmhearted people in a casual atmosphere, you are going to love Manco. Although I'm an avid Yelp user, this is my first review. Manco is so good that I had to get off the bench and get into the game. Forgive me in advance if I make some rookie mistakes. I'm going to do this in list form. 1. They can take care of any problem you throw at them. The big, the small, the stupid and the annoying. That in and of itself makes a trip to Manco well worth it. 2. They are honest. There have been several times that I've walked in with a problem, fully expecting to pay for the solution, and walked out with my problem solved and not a penny spent. How often have you heard of service providers charging or overcharging for unnecessary repairs and parts. That's not going to happen at Manco. 3. I love these people. Les, Margie, and Jerry are like those relatives that you actually LOVE, but never seem to see often enough. You know how you never really want to go to a family funeral, but still enjoy seeing your favorite cousin? That's how I look at computer problems now. I hate to have a broken Mac, but I love the opportunity to see my friends at Manco. 4. Manco manages to be up to date on the latest technology but still feel like a throwback. It sort of feels like you're back in Mayberry with Sheriff Andy, Aunt Bee, and Opie. You're part of the family the moment you walk in the door. 5. Where computers are concerned, there's a tendency for the experts to condescend or talk down to the poor folks with the problems. That attitude is nowhere to be found at Manco. They meet me and every customer I've ever seen at their level with no attitude. 6. I've never been in this joint without being offered a little something to eat or drink. Hospitality is alive and well and living in Glendale. I could go on and on, but I'm sure you get my point. Lastly, and least importantly, everyone is entitled to their opinion, and Yelp is and should be a forum for the free exchange of thoughts about businesses. That said, I have to say that I find the one star review from Cyrus G. offensive, and I would urge you to consider that it's the only negative review for Manco and discount it. Cyrus - I'm sure you're a nice guy, and I would really enjoy having a beer with you some time, but geez... Why use obscenities? Why criticize people for their age or for having an impairment that requires crutches? I doubt your comments reflect your capacity for compassion. I doubt that the folks at Manco would judge you as harshly for what I am hoping is youth and inexperience. I imagine that finding a less expensive solution to your problem was vexing, but having patronized this business for over a decade I'm willing to bet that a rare mistake was made rather than any attempt to take advantage of you. I've used ManCo several times since my first G3 Blue & White gave me troubles in the late 90's. Les, Jerry and Margie are awesome. So, please consider them for both in-warranty and out-of-warranty repairs, as well as upgrades and other purchases (like monitors). They offer a lot of bonus services at no extra cost on a new purchase (see one of the earlier reviews here on Yelp for a good list) and are just all-around-helpful and honest. Whether you are in the Burbank or Glendale area or not, it is worth the drive to do business with them. RECENT EXAMPLE: I bought a top of the line MacBook Pro in January 2012, and 4.5 months later the main logic board failed (the main "mother board" of the system). My first impulse was to take it to the Apple Store in Glendale (what was I thinking?!). While the folks there are certainly very courteous and helpful, they have to follow a corporate dictated set of steps when performing a repair. This includes _erasing_ your hard drive and re-installing the operating system! Based on all the tests and symptoms, it was abundantly clear that there was nothing wrong with my hard drive, operating system, or some other application. All symptoms pointed to the logic board. After several days waiting on the new logic board to arrive, the folks at the Apple store would _not_ install the replacement board without first _erasing_ my hard drive and re-installing the operating system. So I declined their assistance, and then banged my head on the desk, wondering why I didn't go to Les first?! I had lost several valuable days by first going to Apple Corporate. I just got my MBP back today from Les/ManCo with all my data intact. Being that this is my work computer (graphic design and video editing), the fact that I do not have to reinstall a myriad of applications, and reconfigure everything, will save me a great deal of time and frustration, and get me back to work a whole lot faster. I went to Manco because of the fine reviews I read here on Yelp. I needed to get more RAM installed in my 4 year old MacBook so I could upgrade to Lion. I called Manco, and they had what I needed and invited me to stop by without an appointment. I've never had any computer repairs done before, so I had no idea what to expect when walking in. The staff COULDN'T have been nicer. Margie was a doll, and Les was amazing. Les installed my RAM and did some other stuff on my computer to make sure everything was in tip-top shape. The prices were beyond fair, and I was done within an hour. If you need anything done to your Apple products, I highly recommend Manco for your needs. We brought our Mac Retina Display to the Apple Store because the computer wasn't charging for some reason. At Apple, they told us the issue was the circuit board and was a $300-$400 fix. We brought it in here for a second opinion and Les simply cleaned out the charging port and it was working again. Best of all, they fixed it free of charge! Amazing would be putting it mildly! These guys run the kind of business that reminds me why America was once the greatest country in the world: individually owned, extraordinary knowledge, friendly, family working together, the ability to think outside the box, and not out to take my last dollar. I had been to the 'genius' bar at the Mac store on four different occasions to get my iMac working properly. I won't go into the horror stories; those kids are doing the best they can. It's just that they don't have the kind of knowledge that Les and Jerry have. Here's what happened: I went to Manco thinking I was going to have to give up. Les and I talked about the problems (so many of them) I was having and then he gave me a quote and we thought I would be able to pick up my computer the next day. I'll cut to the chase here and just say that it took a week to find and then get rid of 1,440,000 finder preferences that had been replicating themselves for who knows how long! Almost a million and a half of these files! No one knows how it happened. No one had ever heard of anything like it. Anyone else (and by that I mean everyone) would have told me it was time to get a new computer but not Jerry. He said he even woke up one night with a new idea for getting the files out of there. Just amazing. Oh, yeah, and here's the part that is so much like the America I remember--when it was clear that this was a major job I told Les that he would have to give me some kind of estimate on cost (I didn't have a lot for this). He said he had quoted me a price on the first day and that's what the price would be. Astonishing! I love these guys. I wish I could do something for them. Haircuts, anyone? Ha ha. Manco is approved by Apple to service their computers and they sell new ones as well. I will never go anywhere else for anything Mac again. They even do work for people in Paris. It would be impossible to rate these guys higher but if there was a 10, they'd get it. I took a 2009 Macbook Pro Unibody in because I'd knocked the subwoofer cable loose trying to do a repair. Les showed me exactly what was going on, and suggested how I could fix it myself and it worked perfectly! Because he's such a knowledgeable Apple pro, he even knew how Apple had manufactured the cable seating on the logic board. He didn't charge me but I mailed him a check, anyway.
