Date of visit: September 13, 2026 It was deciding whether to get mediocre, expensive food now or eat something when I got home very late (and that was assuming no delays). Since you're reading this review, you knew the decision I made. This wasn't a bad experience, just not a great one. They were out of white rice (sad face) and when I asked the friendly worker he said, "Uh, eggs and some veggies...?" Since he wasn't listing the veggies, I clarified my question by asking if there were onions and he confirmed there were not. He was right about that but the rice was also not very good. The orange chicken on the other hand was pretty tasty if crazy expensive. At least the staff was friendly, it certainly could have been worse! read more

Manchu Wok - Orange chicken. Skip the fried rice though! - Chinese Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

I got the 3-option deal, and I would say all 3 options were bad except for the rice, which wasn't part of the deal. This is ridiculous because this is the second time this year I had this layover, and the food was horrible both times and a waste of money. The beef didn't taste like beef, the Kung Pao chicken was not spicy at all, and the sweet chicken idk if that was real chicken. Never again at this location, especially with the lady with an attitude asking if you want rice or noodles. read more

I always tell myself to eat before going to the airport and I never listen to myself. Machu Wok Is locates in the mini food court not much else there. Very expensive (airport prices) for a very bland take on Chinese food. The employee was very rude when I tried to ask questions about what the plates consisted of and what was considered an Entree. Most don't consider veggies a whole Entree so I was asking for clarification and she was very rude and short with me. I ended up getting fried rice, honey garlic chicken and veggies. Just bland all across the board nothing stood out. read more

I saw all the lower reviews but I had a good experience here. A shorter line and a similar set up to Panda Express in that you can see the food and choose main dishes such as tofu or chicken plus a side such as mixed vegetables, fried rice or noodles. I ordered the two main combo with Chicken Kung Pao and Orange Chicken plus I chose the mixed vegetables option and two egg rolls (which I just realized I wasn't charged for) plus a bottled wster read more

Terminal 3 Manchu Wok. Fast, friendly service. It's 2026 and unlike their competitors- Manchu Wok does not offer the option of a veggie alternative to the carb-heavy fried rice or noodles. Rick opted for fried rice, veggies in a bland sauce and green bean beef. It was - edible - but not tasty. I opted for the mushroom chicken and kung pao chicken with noodles. Sauces for the two entrees was thin and flavorless. The noodles were mushy. Highly not recommended. read more

I was charged for two entrees by Vanessa (Terminal 3)on my government travel card (military) check #6492 on 9/20/2026 @ 3:08pm WS# 372001. I called and was contacted by someone claiming to be a manager who wanted me to give them my card number over the phone to reverse the charges. I did not feel comfortable doing that so they gave me an Amazon coupon code for $25 but it's a Canadian code that can't be redeemed in store. I believe these people are scams imagine how many people they do this to on a daily. I need these charges reversed or I will report as fraud with the BBB. This is my third time putting in a complaint and no one is trying to make it right. They are making it seem like the transaction can't be looked up and or reversed. read more

There are THREE Manchu Woks within O'Hare Airport and this one is located at Terminal 1, Concourse C, Gate C19 - within the little food court there. Be sure your reviewing the right one when doing your write up. Though....if you've been to one Manchu Wok, you've been to them all! But there are other factors like service, speed, quality, atmosphere...I don't mind a chain review!!! I actually haven't been to a Manchu Wok since my junior high days hanging out at Golf Mill mall, lol. It's a total mall type of Chinese fast food spot with all the dishes laid out in front of you. The friendly staff person scooping as you direct them through and undoubtedly get a 2 dish plate. I was actually shocked by the quality of the food here! I always have bypassed Manchu Wok thinking it's a not-as-tasty Panda. I stand corrected! Defeat admitted! I had the Orange Chicken (no surprise, the crowd favorite) and the Honey Garlic Chicken with fried ride. I sat down to wait for my flight and had my mind blown. The flavor was amazing, and actually the honey chicken was BETTER than Panda's version. I was in shock and awe at the quality of this airport food. Lightly crisped pieces served super hot with plump & juicy insides and deliciously sweet but not overly so flavor. And insanely huge portion! My heart broke when I couldn't finish 80% of it~! It's airport food. It's very unhealthy. It's overpriced with me paying $21 for a bottled water and the eats. But Wtf just happened!??!?! I love Manchu Wok!!! WHO AM I! read more

Only place where broccoli is considered an entree. Also ordered steak with beans and it was disgusting as cold to reboot you wonder if save to eat. Brought it back and she took in back room and came back a few later and said microwaved it lol. Didn't ask about another choice and had not eaten broccoli yet. After being nuked the beef was like leather. And the broccoli was like mush. Threw it all away and they could care less. Saw them checking temperatures- they should be tagged for an inspection. Gross and bad service so stay away . read more

The food is greasy and terrible. Bland, service is not any better. Yuck. I would rather eat McDonald's (I don't like McDonald's either).

What a disappointment. During an average day at the airport right around 5:30 PM, there's only orange chicken available. I love orange chicken so why not. Chicken was dry, but the outside was soggy (not with sauce unfortunately) I would rather just not eat next time read more

The food is wonderful! However, the woman that was checking out was not. She was very passive aggressive. She us up incorrectly and was what I would say angry when I asked for the receipt. She shoot us away. Would not recommend based on that experience. Imagine how many other people she does that too per day at this busy airport. read more

After ending up in Chi Town, I was starving but don't really eat fast food. I could not resist the smell. The food was airport expensive but the portions were decent. They actually had some flavor up in there lol. Thanks for the snack! Noodles, mushroom chicken and 1 egg role =15.00 read more

Manchu wok is one of the worst places to eat! When it's slow the food will sit ALL DAY as most of the management doesn't care, especially the Tofu! Workers had to assume if someone may have been vegetarian as everything contains chicken broth, but is not listed anywhere to let people know! Management was terrible as there were ring cameras put up and would set off sirens on the workers! Also beware as they are not the cleanest and might have pest problems! read more

Manchu Wok - Bug in my ice - Chinese Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Most airports these days have some variation of a chinese fast food take out spot, its either a panda express or some local franchise. As i walked around the food court taking a look at the different options, nothing really stood out, including a chicago hot dog or slice of pizza. Usually when that happens i tend to go for whatever asian option is available especially if the dishes look freshly prepared and not too greasy. Overall i found the food to be decent and on par with similiar types of restaurants. I also thought that the portion size was good and the price to be comparable say to a panda express. I thought that the orange chicken was the best when compared to the kung pao chicken and mushroom chicken. My biggest pet peeve with panda these days is that the carton size has been drastically reduced in size and depth and the workers seem to skimp on the scoops they provide. Honestly, most of the times when i eat at panda, im not really full. read more

It's not the greatest Chinese food, but it's cheap, quick, and portable, so you can bring to your gate easily if needed. It gets you some protein, some veggies, some carbs before you go. The water bottle was ridiculously priced, but that's every establishment in the airport. I think it made for a fine quick bite, and the employees were quick and friendly. read more

Manchu Wok - Orange chicken - Chinese Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

So I looked around while on my layover for someplace good to eat. Looked at sushi, McD, and here, chose here. Yeah, I would have been better off at McD. I ordered the orange chicken, pepper chicken with fried rice. Oh and a chicken egg roll. Let's go down this road together. The lady behind counter was no help, when you ask her a question she just say,"what you find to order"? Then when asked for soy sauce she would only give me two packets, when wanted more than two she said only need two. Who is she to forced what I want, Plus you'll need the soy sauce. Fried rice had no taste, wait let me take that back, I felt like I chewed on card board. Orange chicken was there for a bit but parts that had not become hard were good. Very dry chicken. I have to say the pepper chicken was good. Enjoyed the big onions and celery. Chicken egg roll had become hard and dry. I suggest ensure staff keep food for only a certain amount of time and customer service training. If you get a customer and they only eat at your establishment once you are losing out. Food tasters for your food so you can adjust or know if workers are all doing it the same. read more

Wasn't too hungry but after getting teased by American Airlines that I made standby and would get to Albany 6 hours earlier, only for them to take it back leaving me stuck in O'Hare for another 5 hours, I needed some comfort. I saw a lot of people ordering from this place earlier and now had a craving for Chinese. I didn't expect much, but unfortunately it was even worse. Ate maybe half and then tossed the rest and went to Chilis. Live and learn. read more

So I been sitting n the food area watching the lady working now make plates and she's selectively piling plates. Some people are getting large plates of food piled and some people look like they're getting bare minimum. They need to be consistent in how they prepare plates for everyone. I had two other people watch her too and they said the same thing. read more

Try anything else. The food is bland and everything tastes the same. The fried rice was terrible, no flavor at all. I got 2 chicken sides and they mostly tasted the same. I ended up with 2 chicken sides (both only had zucchinis, one with onions and peppers at least) because they were out of veggie and beef options and the fish(?) didn't look like anything I wanted to try. The kiosk is also in the food court, which is small, crowded and honestly not where you want to be when you want to grab a meal between flights... I got mine and walked over to a gate with charging stations. I wouldn't go here again and I wouldn't recommend that anyone else does. read more

Please, I beg of you... don't do this to yourself! I'm sure opening this place was someone's life long dream, but it must have been a dream to serve unsuspecting people awful tasting "Chinese food" and put them on a quest to extinguish the seemingly never-ending aftertaste before their flight boards. This is not Panda Express. This isn't even a second cousin twice removed of Panda Express. As I walked away regretting the life decisions that led me to ingesting whatever this was they're selling, I looked back at the large line that had formed. I desperately wanted to run to the line and warn everyone, but I had to prioritize finding anything to eliminate the aftertaste from my mouth. You have been warned. read more

I really don't understand all the hate for this place. It is literally the best food in the airport. The service is quick, and the ambiance is whatever the airport makes of it. But really it is some of the best food I've had both in and out of the airport. I was genuinely shocked to see how low the ratings are. And no, I *am* talking about Manchu Wok. The nasty reviews are bogus. Just try it. read more

Very forgettable fast food Chinese. Even with lowered expectations of getting food in an airport, the food was a bit below par though the service was quick and the price a bit more reasonable than other restaurants nearby. I tried three items here. The orange chicken was slightly crispy with a sweet orange sauce that lacked any complexity. It would almost have been better if it were less sweet and less sour as the sauce was somewhat unappetizing. The chicken with mushroom was very soft (but not really in a tender sense) where the mushroom didn't have the earthy umami and juiciness I expect from the dish. The green bean with beef was similarly soft without the fresh flavor or firmness I was expecting from the bean. The fried rice tasted like wet white rice tossed with a touch of soy sauce and egg. There was no wok hay at all in it. Overall, this is probably the cheapest food by weight in the terminal but failed to impress. read more

I actually love this place! I always get the noodles, spicy tofu, and chicken/mushrooms. It's my favorite Chinese besides Chinatown in Chicago. They also give you a huge portion for the price!! read more

Read the reviews but still decided to give it a try since it's the only Chinese option near by. Service was great and staff were very friendly but I honestly cannot recommend the food. Gotta say it's probably the cheapest meal you can find in that area but you get what you pay for. Portion was decent but the taste was awful. Orange chicken was extremely sour, and mainly sour. Not sweet not salty, just sour. Lo Mein was slightly mushy and had NO TASTE at all. Beef with string beans was actually better than the other two. If you crave Chinese, unfortunately that might be the only option nearby. Five stars for the staff, 1/2 for the food, and 1/2 for the price. 3 is really high in my opinion. read more

Food was okay but not great compared to competitors. Servings are small. Also, you cannot substitute carbs with veggies. Veggies are treated as an entree. It would be great if they have veggies as base for those who do not eat rice or noodles. read more

Honestly one of the cheapest food options I have ever seen at any airport in the United States. Is it good? No, not really but if you want to save money and be full, Manchu is where to go. 1. Orange Chicken - The ratio of chicken to batter is extremely in-proportionate, f anything it is more like 70% batter to 30% chicken. The flavor is pretty typical. 2. Ginger Beef - The slightly better dish of the two entrees. The beef itself is actually pretty tender and the sauce is okay but be aware that sometimes it is extremely spicy. 3. Fried Noodles - Seems frozen over and lacks flavor. I mean its cheap? read more

This is actually one of the best airport foods I have ever eaten, yet I'm only giving it 2 stars. Of course there is much better food than this, but this is decent. I got Lo Mein Noodles and Orange Chicken for only $8.49, which is pretty cheap, considering it's from an airport which is usually overpriced. Lo Mein Noodles- It was a bit mushy, but the flavor wasn't bad! The cabbage in it tasted pretty good honestly. I would prefer actual asian food, but this is fine for airport fast food. Orange Chicken- Eh. The sauce tasted like orange juice, but there was actually a good amount of chicken. It wasn't bad but wasn't the best. The chicken was a little dry. Overall, I would probably come here if I was at an airport, but not if I had a choice of actual asian food. read more

Having feasted on all sorts of non-Asian food all week in Chicago, the Asian in me was craving ANY kind of Chinese food. Should've heeded the warnings from all the reviews on Yelp, but I'm the kinda guy who typically will give a chance. In this case, Yelp was right. Straight up garbage quality Chinese food. Limited options to start with, and what was available was barely edible. Quite honestly the most disappointing Chinese food meal I've ever had in my life. The only reason this review isn't 1 star is that I didn't have a bad experience as it relates to service. Avoid like the plague. read more

Impressively bad. Fried rice had no flavor and chicken was mostly breading. Go literally anywhere else.

Food, should be named zucchini with mushroom and chicken sauce with particles. Just bought an hour ago at H1 Terminal 3. Turned my ack for a moment and an ancient Asian woman scooped all veggies and closed the box. Ope Ed at K16 and discovered the plot. No protein =ore profit. No such thing as Manchu Wok service as expected from fake responsibility Canadians. Stay away from this chain. Was ok 20 years ago. A zero now. read more

Wish I checked the reviews before I ate at this place. Paid about $13.50 for mediocre food and a bottle of water. I ordered the chicken with green beans and Kung pao chicken with lo mien noodles. Overall I was disappointed, noodles had bland flavor and so did my two entrees. Barely any chicken amongst all of the veggies mixed as well. Also was pretty oily instead of saucy like It appeared. If your hungry and need a quick bite at the airport before your flight do not go for this place. There is a nice food court here and I'd even recommend McDonalds over this place ‍ . If you have time then I'd say sit down at one of the nicer restaurants. Bad decision on my part. You've been warned! read more

To be fair, its relatively cheap for airport food. Reminds me of a lesser panda express - same ordering concept (rice/chow mein and 2 or 3 sides, and even has orange chicken). I opted for half fried rice, half chow mein with curry chicken and pot stickers. the chow mein and curry chicken was beyond salty that I struggled to finish. And the overall food was quite bland. It definitely was the least crowded in the food court and for the right reasons. Avoid it. read more
