Like every other Mambo Seafood this one was excellent. Service was outstanding given the level of activity which was appreciable. In point of fact the waiting line by the time we left must have been at least 30' and given the size of this restaurant is an appreciable wait...but well worth it. Let me back up here for a minute however and not assume everyone knows what Mambo Seafood is....there are after all Martians and Jovians amongst us. In any case, Mambo is something of a fusion faire-Latin/Pacific and American but focused on Seafood. The menu ranges from Fried to Broiled, to Stuffed Fish, Ceviche (cured) and a variety of seafood soups and of course Oysters on the Halfshell. I can't even begin to name my favorites and would simply suggest that you focus on the preparation (Fried, broiled etc.) and then follow the menu for type of meal. My personal favorites are soup...when it's not 100+degrees F and Ceviche (any of them although I prefer pulpo) however I will tell you that it is one of the few restaurants in which the quality of every plate, the quantity and the value are not an incredible bargain. There are as well dailty specials and always 'street elote' (corn-on-the-cob). Thank you for opening a Mambo close to my residence however if you are anywhere within Houston, Baytown, Katy or McAllen TX it is well worth a visit. Delicious food, Dependable at all of the 5 locations I have been to so far, excellect service and incredible value. Difficult to find and maintain this level of excellence but somehow Mambo Management has 'managed' to do so. read more

After waited for 30min. we have to leave to go somewhere else. The waitress didn't intend to bring us our food. she just walked up and down talked to other coworker. The restaurant wasn't crowded at all. Even people came after us get their food ( we ordered the same thing they had). 1: Bad store manager : have no idea what is happening to the store. Don't really want to fix the problem. (Maybe they think without 1 or 2 customer they still ok) 2: Bad waitress (Esmeralda): lazy , careless read more

Beautiful weather right now in mid Oct. friend & I sat down outside, went thru from the Patio entrance. Was able to look at the menus. they're on the table. Server was attentive (wish I woulda gotten her name.) Made my lunch experience great. She made suggestion and her popular opinions on the dish I gotten. (Patio also have fans outside so it felt beautiful. * Also notice they have a heater on top, so if it's a chilly night you can enjoy the night breeze with out freezing *) Margarita was great. Ordered a second one, kinda took a bit, Buther communication skills were right on. Notifying me she was waiting for it to freeze a bit so I wouldn't get a watery margarita. Food, GREAT! Unfortunately for y'all I forgot to take pictures... can't remember if I chewed my food. read more

I am elated that we now have a Mambo's in Katy! This location has tried several restaurants which I failed. I bet a unicorn that Mambo's will do fantastic because well... it's Mambo's. If you have never tried it, I would best describe it as a fusion between Mexican and Asian which is seafood focused. The ceviches are freaking awesome. The Mambo's rice is delish - a must try. Today I had the grilled stuffed shrimp, woozah... so yum. Lots of cheese and the bacon had the perfect crisp to it. I went during lunch so it wasn't insanely busy, but like all new restaurants in Katy, if you go in the evening be prepared to wait, at least for awhile. The staff was super friendly. They do have many trainees but they were attentive. The manager Juan walked around to each table to see how everything was a chat with us for bit. He was awesome! If you like seafoood, do not pass up an opportunity to try Mambo's!! read more

Currently I've been on hold for 20 minutes and counting. This is the second I've called so it's actually been a little longer. Placed an online order and no email confirmation. Bank account shows meal was charged for family meal $90! This has to be the worst experience I've had with them. Three weeks prior we called in an order just to show up 40 minutes later and the food wasn't even made. Had to wait another 30 minutes to get it. read more

What a pleasant surprise! My friends and I were looking for a place to grab some beers and came to this place. We didn't know what to expect much but we really loved the ambience, food, drink, and service. Their Mangorita is the best I've ever had in my life! (I like it weak) Overall I really liked this place and would definitely go back! read more

Visited this Mambo location off of I-10 for a family lunch. We waited for an hour to be seated. Families and guest were forced to stand near the front door cramped together since there was little to no waiting area. Super unorganized in the way of hosting and seating guest. However, the food was definitely worth the wait. I ordered the Duo Combo and asked for the stuffed crab and fish fillets with mambo rice. Mambo rice is a must try!!! read more

I was very excited to come here and eat. I was also very hungry when I ordered. I ordered the combo fried shrimp and fish. I should've returned it, but I was so hungry. The shrimp and the fish had been cooked sometime before, it was not freshly cooked. It was not even hot. The street corn was excellent and so hot you couldn't even hold. i'll get my seafood from somewhere else next time read more

No complaints the food was good, the service was excellent. I tried the grilled fish and shrimp and opted for a salad. The salad was basic but the fish was really good. The shrimp had a little char but not burnt. I would recommend. read more

I rember the Mambos on Airline used to serve big mongoloid pieces of fish with fried rice that would make a chinese chef covet it. Back in the day that is. Tried this location for the first time in YEARS and was sorely disappointed. Now the fish is still good I'll give them that but the portions are pittiful. As you can see by the pics the fillets are about the size of a soda can ( soda not included). The shrimp are mediocre are barely medium at best. Guess they try to make up for that by butterflying and flattening them. The rice...the rice was a bit hard and flavor was right up there with the fried rice of the cheapest mom and pop joint. It just didn't have the flavor. It was just tragic cause that was the main reason I tried them again. This for $12? Not from me. NEVER AGAIN. Maybe if it at least tasted like old school Mambos. I really miss those hunks of fish that were each as big as a grown mans fist and I'm not exaggerating. read more

Mambo Seafood - Sad little fishy. What good is a meal if you're still hungry and have to go somewhere else? - Seafood Near Me - Katy, Texas

Usually when a new restaurant opens you expect it to be a little rocky, but this was not the case. Hats off to the staff working today! Service was fast and fabulous and the food and drinks were wonderful! So happy to have a Mambo's close by- I'll definitely be returning. :) read more

Ordered online and time was 7:50 for food to be ready by. After requesting updates on order, they did not have the order ready until 40 mins later and did not have everything ordered available because they ran out. Customer service needs to be better, at least try to compensate your customers while they are waiting to makeup for the inaccuracy in time. read more

Food and service were good. Have been here twice since moving to the area and was not disappointed at all.

They keep messing things up at this mambos location. I thInk that they have plenty of staff to go around but they still can't get it together. Tonight we walked into a half empty place and with mote servers at the bar than customers. It took a good five minutes until one of the servers decided to come by to say hello and take our drinks order. I would be okey with thIs if it wasn't that there were barely 15-20 in the place. To make matters worse, they took forever to serve one of our entrees (mojarra frita)to our table tHat we just decided to cancel it. Hope they get their act together soon. read more

good food! great value! we went there after church and it was packed! we got our food and it was tasty.

This place is my jam! Lol. One of me and my meatballs favorite places to go. The food is always yummy and fresh. If you like spicy, get the habanero rice you will not be disappointed. It's a simple restaurant with a cantina feel. In my opinion, you can't go wrong here. The prices are cheap for the amount of food that you get. I can put down some fish and shrimp, so when it's hard for me to eat it all, that's a healthy portion. Definitely a must go! read more

They have good items of seafood. My first time trying there, I like the octopus scampi the best. It's moist and succulent and juicy. I tried seafood cocktail, fried mambo combo, stuffed jalapeños. On the fried food, I felt like the batter could be better. The fried shrimps are a little bit soggy. Seafood cocktail is ok. I'll definitely go there and try other items next time. read more

This location is the best one, great service and food is always good. Really enjoy coming here.

In a world where it seems that no one no longer listens or cares, I was pleasantly surprised when Mambo's Business Manager - Maria A. responded to my previous review with a sincere apology and an invitation to return to Mambos for a better experience. (Maria was not the manager mentioned in my last review). My husband and I took her up on her offer and recently revisited Mambos. Maria kept her word. She personally greeted us at the door when we arrived, made sure we were seated, and had her waitresses give us prompt attention. As always, the food we ordered was extremely delicious and plentiful. The service we received from our waitress, May was outstanding. She had a very sweet personality and was very accomodating. Unlike the waiter in our previous experience, she was very attentive; we never felt neglected. Our experience this time was definitely much better than our last. I'm actually glad we accepted Maria's offer and didn't write off Mambos as we had planned to. We left the restaurant feeling very satisfied in more ways than one. Between Maria and May, we felt that Mambos handed us back the dignity and respect we had lost at our last visit. We appreciated this and have upgraded our review to 5 STARS, as a result! Thank you Maria, for caring about your customers. You definitely won us back! read more

It was New Years day and this place was PACKED. So I was fully expecting to be neglected by the servers and waiting an extremely long time for my food, but that wasn't the case. In just a few minutes a server greeted our table, which was outside, and took our order. The food then arrived maybe about 10 minutes later. I was very impressed. The server didn't really speak English so that made things a bit awkward but we managed to communicate enough by pointing to the menu. Ordered the Shrimp Tostata & empanadas as an appetizer. (the empanadas are really good, they are filled with shrimp & cheese, I recommend them) Ordered the #1, which is 2 fish, 6 shrimp, shrimp fried rice, & roll. Al the food was good. However the fish was cold, but being it was a holiday and as busy as they were I don't really mind that. The prices are very reasonable. It came out to be about $30 for 2 appetizers & 2 entrees. Can't beat that! read more

Does fried.... everything tickle your fancy?? Then look no further than Mambos! They got it all! Fried fish, shrimp, rice, shrimp fried rice... fried chicken, fried tacos, if it's on the menu it's most likely fried! Eat up, Johnny!!!! read more

Food was cold , The Manager kept giving us looks from a distance. The server took 20 mins to give us the check .

Mambo-Katy was a much needed asset to the Katy area and their never-empty lot proves it. If you love all things to do with the sea, Mambo is perfect. But if you enjoy a less intense dining experience, this may not be the perfect match. If you've been to Mambo before then you come to expect that they're always going to be packed....this location is no different. The first time we visited was on a Saturday afternoon for a birthday lunch and they were swamped. When we first walked in we were told it was going to be a minimum wait of 45minutes. 45 MINUTE WAIT MINIMUM...Since everyone was hungry and we had a party of 12 meeting we didn't decide to go anywhere else. It just would have been too much trouble to get everyone in sync. Man, the seafood gods were on our side because we were actually seated within 10 minutes due to another party cancelling, yay! They accommodated our large party nicely and sat us at a table where we had more than enough room. The food was delicious. We opted for the #3 Family Pack which has shrimp, fish fillets, mambo fried rice, and bread. Though the menu states it's for 12 people we had a bunch of food left over, and that's after people had seconds too! The service was just ok. They seemed overwhelmed with how busy it was and we got the impression that they didn't have enough employees since we saw a lot of swapping between tables. Three different waitresses helped us and they were very attentive. While the food was delicious, we also felt on edge. Since it was extremely busy and it seemed short-staffed, there was stuff going on in every direction. Not my favorite situation to be in. They do have their own parking lot but again, it's always busy so you might have to circle once to twice to find a spot. Located at the corner of Fry Rd, in the Home Depot/Joann/Ross shopping center, it's easy to spot. I definitely won't make the drive out again to visit this location specifically but it's a welcomed addition to the Katy area. a-ok. read more

Run!!! Like please be careful ordering take out. I placed an order for a group of doctors for our night shift staff and we all got our food someway wrong and one meal did not get their full order. Tried calling before close time but no one answered the phone. One ordered calamari and she just went home feeling really sick and thinks she got food poisoning from the uncooked calamari. The Vuelve La. Ida and shrimp in the rice is NOT deveined. On top of that, the cocktail came in mixed in the bag with HOT meals, so the second person just went home too most likely from food poisoning. Common sense, NEVER put seafood out too long or near heat when it's an intended cold seafood meal. I would not write this review if it was just something like "just distasteful" but it is just unethical and so wrong of Mambos Seafood to be very careless like this. Please do better because this is a health issue. read more

First time here for me and it was okay. I'm a seafood lover and have to tell you, I wasn't impressed. The only thing that was really good was the chicharron de tilapia (fried tilapia bites). Every piece was super crispy and wasn't drenched in grease. We also ordered the fried tilapia with veggies. I've had way better tilapia. It was super flat, barely any fish meat and not flaky at all. The roll that came with the fish was not fresh either. The size of the shrimp and crawfish was decent, however, their mambo flavor was way too salty. Nothing special for us to come back for. read more

I went to the Katy Freeway location on Friday for dinner with my girlfriend. We got the bill, I paid and left our server a tip. A few days later I check my bank statement to see a totally different total than what I left on my receipt. I called the location we went to and asked to speak to a manager. The manager told me that they were busy and took my name and number down. I haven't received a call back yet. Busy or not, if there's a matter of integrity and waitresses stealing from customers then that's a matter that should be addressed immediately. Me and my girlfriend come to this location at least once a week but I feel as if the trust was broken and my concerns were not taken care of when brought to managements attention. The employee responsible should not be employed with Mambo moving forward because it makes me wonder who else she's stolen from. I'm sure I wasn't the first. read more

I love Mambo Seafood. We normally go to the one on Long Point Rd. Now there is one closer to home, at Fry's road. Both are great, however I like the Long Point Rd better. It may be my impression, but seems the portions are more generous at this location than at Katy. Plus you have the option of seating outside. But as said, both are extraordinary.
