We waiting 45 minutes to sit down, then another once we sat down, we waited 30 mins for someone to help us, then another 40 mins for them to bring one plate which was a kids plate, another 30 mins for another plate! Why do you serve one plate at a time! If people go out to eat, it's because they want to spend time with their family/friends and eat all at the same time! Our food was cold so I had to ask for a manager to inform her! The shrimp, and rice was cold, the fish was burnt and cold! The service was bad!!! This just wasn't my cup of tea. I'm rying to stay off fried food which is the majority of food here. The shrimp cocktails completely different than wwe are used to & not as good. They don't serve whiskey. However, I gave it a go and I'm so glad I did! Big fresh shrimp got the party started as an appetizer. The red snapper joined us for dinner and it was outstanding. You can choose fried or grilled, we went with grilled and vegetables. The food just melted in our mouths. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about their menu and will tell you what they like as well. We loved it and will be back shortly! If you want excellent food, give them a try! read more

Huge portions, consistent taste, and great service. My husband and I ordered takeout by phone and it was ready within the 20-25 min window that they had told me on the phone. I only wish that they set up some sort of online ordering system in the near future. It's a very loud restaurant, so I worry about potential errors with people's phone orders because of the noise factor. Other than that, the food is amazing and be sure to try the famous shrimp fried rice if you've never visited before. It's a MUST. read more

If you love frozen food heated up this is the place for you. I had the mixed grilled plate and was very disappointed. The fish was like mush but had great faux grill marks. Wife had the Shrimp cocktail and said it was ok but was not as good as what she used to. We will just keep eating at Captain Toms on the other side of the freeway. read more

Great latin inexpensive seafood place. Staff is so friendly and attentive. The manager is always on the move making sure everyone is being well taken care of. He even stopped by after we were finished just to converse.the atmosphere is very welcoming with latin music playing in the background. I order a #1 which came with 2 crispy yet moist fish filets,6 fried shimp(not jumbo shrimp) and mambos shrimp fried rice . It's a latin version of Chinese fried rice. I've been to other mambos so I had an idea of what to expect. This location did not disappoint with the classic #1. We also ordered the vuelve a la vida soup. It's a very delicious seafood soup that includes fish, shrimp, pulpo(octopus), and oyster. Great for hangovers or if you're feeling under the weather. Lastly, we ordered a #2 which has 6 shrimp(not jumbo) and mambo rice. Great place for families or to go with some buddys for some beers or micheladas. read more

Food is good but service is lacking sometimes. Also not kid friendly. Kid's meal was only $4, but was charged $2.50 for kids drink. Drink was bad and son did not even drink it. Asked server and was told they did not have kids drink prices. So beware if you take kids and get them drinks. read more

I'm giving this particular location one star. Horrible management. My car got broken into outside and here's the managers response: "yeah it happens every weekend here." The security guy outside was pretty much chillen in his car and wanted to act like he was doing his job when the cops showed up. I was also denied the camera footage that could show me my car broken into. They said they would show us when the cops got there, but the sheriff asked us to have them email it to him, the manager refused. Never coming back to this location again. read more

I come to this location about two times a month for dinner. I always get the fried shrimp platter with two side french fries and salad. It only comes with one side but I always get two side so if you do two side expect to ay for the second side. For this visit we had Oysters as appetizers (Price depends on market value) The Oysters were fresh no complaint as they came with limes and underneath the oysters was ice to keep the oysters cold. I personally like to eat them with lots of lime/lemon juice, pinch of salt, and drops of Valentina YUM! My boyfriend ate seafood gumbo and finished it all. He said he tasted Oyster in there he really liked it. The salad side comes with a piece of 'Jicama' which most places do not but I love that. My waitress Evelyn had an attitude problem like if she was not having a good day and wanted to go home. She did not check up on us much which was the downside of my visit. The manager came to ask if everything was okay so it made up for it I guess. They offer alcohol beverages and have wifi yay! The parking can get tricky when you go there on weekends or on special days because gets popping in there haha! Overall I would go back. The prices are reasonable and affordable. An excellent choice of seafood restaurant with a Latin American flare. The restaurant is causal with lots of bright colorful neon lights inside and out with a hustle bustle family atmosphere. Nothing fancy and definitely not a first date choice of restaurant! In the back there is a seafood case showing various types of fish that you can purchase like from a seafood market. My husband and I checked it out for the first time since it's relatively new in Katy. It was a week day evening and the restaurant was crowded. We were seated almost immediately. After studying the "written menu" as well as the "pictured menu" and with a little help from the server, who by the way was so sweet and cheerful, we decided on two dishes, one with mixed grilled seafood and the other a mix of octopus and shrimp. All main courses come with a side and Mambo rice. We liked both dishes. Both were seasoned very well. We loved the rice. Price on the menu is very reasonable. As it turned out Mambo rice is exactly like Chinese fried rice. Love it! Overall it was good experience. We'll be back as we make our round around Katy. read more

She was very courteous, and helped us through the entire process. She offered advice on what to get and the spice and flavor level for every option. She said that the empanadas were a great option. We had a group sitting behind us who showed up 20 min after us but got their food first only because the owner was flirting with the lady. Mambo has become one of our favorite seafood spots since this new one opened in Katy. The food is always very good and it is very reasonably priced. The manager is excellent! One time we did have a problem with the wait time for our food, but the manager (Javier? Maybe?) went ABOVE AND BEYOND to make sure it was made right. Took the plunge and decided to try Mambo Seafood. Hedged my bets a bit and did takeout. Ordered on the phone and could hear the crowd noise in the background. Order process was smooth and simple. I ordered the #4 - 15 fried shrimp with a side plus a large special fried rice. It was ready in 15 mins. I drove up for the pickup (1 pm Friday) and their parking lot was jammed. Caution to everyone, people were speeding excessively in the lot and I almost got t-boned. The insides as well were completely full, but appeared to have plenty of friendly staff. Proceeded to the back to pickup my order, no issues. The food was the price was very good. The shrimp batter was flour based (not cornmeal) and a bit bland. Since I was home, I used a spicy horseradish cocktail sauce I had in the frig. Shrimp were butterflied and about a 15-20 count size. Clearly hand prepared and not processed food. Good for them, not overdoing the Sysco processed food thing! One negative, for takeout, they give you Kraft tarter sauce (no thanks to those chemicals). The fried rice is tasty and they give you a ridiculously large amount. Double of any other place for the price. The quality of the fried rice is not as good as a true Chinese wok rice in terms of layers of complex tastes, but still quite good. This rice is most like what you would do at home on a Blackstone Griddle - rice, soy, green onion, bits of shrimp/ Pork / Chicken. Tasty but not gourmet. In all for the price and value a nice place to get your "seafood" grub on! Next time need to sample their drinks! read more

This is our first time dining at the Katy location. We got there and there was a huge crowd waiting, there was even a line just to get our name in the waiting list. We were told it would be 50 minutes, so I gave her my name and phone number. Immediately I received a texted where I can view my place in line and keep track of how long we were waiting. We decided to stop by Sam's to pick up few items while we wait, then after about 35 minutes I received another text saying that our table is ready. I checked out at Sam's pretty fast and drove there. They were still holding the table for us and we got seated right away. Now about the food: my husband and I ordered Michiladas, they were icy cold, salty and so spicy good. Then came out the ceviche combo, oh so wonderful with the saltine crackers. I really wanted to try the fresh shucked Oysters, so I ordered 6 of them. They were extremely fresh with squeeze of lime and some hot sauce, so delicious. Everything that we ordered was outstanding. The manager even stopped at our table to thank us for coming and was very friendly and polite.
