Just simply not good. Horrible quality good, We ordered $90 worth of food including soup dumplings, chicken with broccoli, Mongolian beef, sesame chicken, and Dan Dan noodles. The meat tasted rubbery in multiple dishes and the Dan Dan noodles just tasted like peppercorns. Two better options in the area come to mind. For the price, they honestly should be embarrassed. I was in the mood for dim sum and found this place on Yelp. We ordered online as recommended by the restaurant and it was a bit complicated. After going through the efforts of figuring out what you want to eat etc, it asks you to call if you have allergies or to make changes. Also it forces you to pay with card to complete your order. They also force a tip amount, which I thought was a charge for ordering online, but I was wrong. I am all about tipping, especially in helping those working for small businesses, but it was frustrating that you couldn't change your tip amount or choose to tip cash when you arrive. I would most certainly suggest calling in your order and paying cash. We ordered dim sum, wonton soup, pork fried rice, pork belly and their fried rice balls for dessert. The dim sum was tough and seems the dough was overworked. It also fell apart very quickly. The wonton soup was amazing. One of the best I have tried in a long time. The wonton was soft and tender and perfectly made. We were throw off by the clear broth and seaweed or purple cabbage? But it did not disappoint and the flavor it added was superb. The pork fried rice was good, but they do not add very much soy sauce, so make sure you ask for some on the side if you're a fan. It tasted good, nothing too special about it. The pork belly was just a bowl of fatty thick cut pork belly's. Not a fan at all. But we wanted to try it out and have learned not to order this dish again. Lastly, the fried rice balls were really good. It came with three and that was just enough for our family. It was crispy on the outside covered in sesame seeds and chewy in the center with the white rice and bean curd. Our kids tried it and thought it was okay. Ever since I moved out of Philly, I've been looking for a place with good dim sum. When I learned Mama Wong had opened, I was excited to see it was included in their menu, as well as a variety of other traditional and unique Chinese dishes. I've tried Mama Wong twice so far and both experiences were excellent. My favorite dishes to this point have been the Shanghai Soup Pork Dumplings, Crystal Shrimp Dumplings, Chengdu Dan Dan Noodles, and Crispy Roast Peking Duck. The dumplings are on par with any others I've had, definitely the best I know of in the area. The Dan Dan Noodles are spicy, flavorful, and fresh. The Peking duck is fantastic. The skin is perfectly crispy, and the meat is tender and not too fatty. I don't think I've had a better duck dish. I've also had the Shanghai Wonton Soup, fried rice, Smoked Duck, and Orange Beef. Each of these are excellent as well. Everything tastes freshly made with quality ingredients. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They told us about tasting nights that they host every Tuesday and Wednesday. You can call ahead to start or join a party. You are seated in a separate dining area and get to try several dishes; some favorites from the menu and some new options. They give you some background on each dish and you can give feedback on how it tastes. They may even add it to the menu based on the response. I'm really looking forward to trying this. Mama Wong is among the best Chinese restaurants I've visited. It's definitely my new go-to in Exton, and I'll be back soon to try more dishes as well as attend a tasting night. read more

It's a Hit or Miss. Been a loyal customer since grand opening. I must say, the food quality of this place has gone downhill. The taste is very inconsistent as like they're switching cooks every day. They are repeatedly making amateur mistakes or maybe they just don't give a shxt. The white rice has this foul smell 9 out of 10 times, which I'm 100% confident to say it is caused by not rinsing the rice before cook. How lazy can you be? Half of the times I would trash the rice and only eat the protein and veg or spend 30 minutes to quickly cook my own rice. Completely unacceptable! How credible is this statement? I'm Chinese, rice is my main diet so I guess it's safe to say I know how plain white rice should smell or taste regardless to brand, quality and origin; I tasted them all! The main dishes are oily, the sauce thickness is extremely inconsistent, the same dish one day may be thick and the next day as thin as a bowl of soup. One day there could be black beans added or extra ginger, they have absolutely zero standards with what goes into their dishes. This makes me think they're either untrained or switches cooks every other day. I'm starting to believe they could be using front staffs as cooks. Enough is enough, you just lost a 3 year long customer. The restaurant and bathrooms are clean. And the food is incredible. This is some of the best food I've tasted. And trust me, I've eaten A LOT. Here's what we ordered: The Dan Dan Noodles: Easily one of the best dishes I've ever eaten. Ever. I am absolutely obsessed with Dan Dan noodles and keep a ranking of the noodles I've tried (Insane, I know. But completely necessary). These noodles are easily one of the best I've had. Definitely on my top three list. The noodles are so fresh. The flavor is out of this world. Overall, fabulous experience. I could eat this dish for every meal, every day and be completely happy. Boiled Beef in Chili Oil: I ordered this dish at "medium heat" but next time I think I'll order it at "regular heat". I enjoy my dishes really spicey. Despite this, it was still fabulous. Takeout orders missing items, and poor quality of food. Ordered takeout on Christmas Day. We ordered 3 items. When we got home we found we had only received 2 of our food items. When we called on Christmas to complain, the woman on the phone never apologized, but said she would refund our card on the missing items. TO DATE I HAVE NOT GOTTEN ANY REFUND! We ordered again tonight the same 3 items we got on Christmas. When I went to pick it up I sat in my car waiting for the text that my order was ready. After the pickup time had passed I went inside to Mama Wongs and gave the girl my number. She proceeded to grab the first bag in the line of nine bags. I said to the girl I never got the text my order was ready? She proceeded to say hold on, and did something on the register, and then pointed to my phone I was holding and said see, there, I now had the text on my phone. I DID NOT FIND THIS AMUSING! After checking my order to confirm all items were in the bag I left, not a happy Customer! Once home I found that the Kung Po Chicken I ordered had no flavor and was very bland. The Pork Lo Mein had a flavor like it was flashed fried in a burnt pan. This is a great spot for authentic Chinese food. I was hesitant on trying it based on some of the earlier reviews (mostly about the Chinese takeout), but I'm glad my family went here for a holiday dinner. The highlights of the meal were definitely the soup dumplings and the Peking duck. When you order the Peking duck, make sure you order the "Peking Duck Combo" (the one that comes with soup) - the duck is cooked to perfection, and the soup that comes later on the meal is a great way to wash everything down. Definitely authentic Chinese cuisine. I'm glad Mama Wong's exists as I believe they have accurately captured the flavors of Chinese food! I came here on a Friday night with my family to try their Peking duck and ordered some additional dishes as well, fearing that the duck wouldn't be enough. We were severely mistaken. We ordered green beans and fried pork, mapo tofu, and spicy kidney. These dishes, plus the duck, it's accompaniments, and the soup made from the leftover duck bones were more than enough to fill our small family of four. Before our meal came, the hostess placed a small container of nuts and Chinese spicy cabbage on the table. The cabbage was a huge hit for my spice loving family. We asked for more after the main dishes had arrived. For the main course, the mapo tofu was adequately spicy and definitely had us reaching for more rice. The duck didn't have the crispiest skin, but it was nicely presented and had a good ratio of fat to meat. I do wish it had come with the crepe like wrappers instead of the bao buns though, or more wrappers in general. Two per person was not enough. The green beans were not too oily and the meat had a nice salty flavor. I did not get a chance to try the kidney, since I was already so full from everything else. I had a small bowl of the soup that came out at the end. It didn't have the strongest or best duck flavor, but the broth's lightness helped to wash away the heavy meal. Aside from the food, the service was okay. The restaurant wasn't packed but I could see that the staff didn't seem very organized. One waiter was visibly stressed the whole time while the other three servers and hostess floated around. The interior is also well arranged at the front of the restaurant but the back looked like wasted space. There was a large empty bar before the restrooms and one unset table. This was a real treat. I've been to Shanghai, Suzho and the West Lake area and cant believe I can savor those flavors in Exton now. 1. Soup dumplings - a bit thicker in dough than I like but not too much. Savory. A must. 2. Dan Dan Noodles - spicy but didn't ruin tastebuds for the rest. Very good, even wife enjoyed the heat. 3. First time trying this place - we heard they had soup dumplings so wanted to check it out - we drive into Philly for those! The soup dumplings did not disappoint. We also tried some won tons in chili oil, which were tightly wrapped and flavorful. We shared some dan dan which seemed watery at first but upon resting a few moments developed into a well coated bunch of noodles. My husband ordered the griddled beef with mushrooms and bamboo which was delightful and we shared this along with their cucumbers which were pleasantly dressed with sesame. They're doing a good job handling things as others have noted. I find the online order menu confusing (many dishes listed have no detail or description). Loved it the first two times we ordered take out but not so much this third time. There were things in my order (general Tso's chicken) that were not chicken as if something from another order (fried pork? And a chunk of tofu?) managed to migrate into mine. My coworkers and I got together for lunch to celebrate the dragon boat festival. For appetizer, we ordered dry pepper chicken wings and soup dumplings. They were so delicious! Especially the chicken wings. For the main course, we had Mongolian beef, general tsos chicken, and seafood tofu. We shared the dishes which allowed us to have a variety of flavors during the meal. My favorites were the Mongolian beef and general chicken. We also had the red bean dough balls covered in sesame seeds for dessert. There was plenty of food to go around and there was enough for us to take home for dinner. The service was nice as well and the manager came around to make sure we were satisfied with the service. Fantastic Sichuan dishes but lacking in flavor for their Cantonese offerings. Based on their Sichuan dishes alone I'd give this place a 4 or 5 but I have to say that their Cantonese dishes were not up to snuff. Let's start with all the positives. The fish dry pot style was fabulous, great balance of heat and flavor and kept me wanting more even as I write this review. The sautéed green beans, snow pea leaves, and ma po tofu were also delicious. However their soup dumplings lacked flavor and the pork belly with preserved vegetables was dried out. We also had a seafood tofu clay pot which did not have the most fresh seafood. The squid tasted like it had been frozen and thawed out one too many times. The soup dumpling dim sum and pork and clay pot are all classic Cantonese dishes that are done better in Chinatown. Finally we had Peking Duck which did not impress either as the skin wasn't very crispy and the plum sauce was a little too salty. However the remaining duck carcass was stir fried with some onions and peppers and was very flavorful if not difficult to eat. If you get the Peking duck make sure you ask for the soup as a second course. I think that would be a better choice since you are not getting much food off of the remains. If you are in the exton area I'd say go here instead of Han dynasty if you want Sichuan food as I feel it is in many ways better but if you are drawn here for Cantonese or Peking duck, skip it and drag your butt to the city. read more

Have only eaten here twice. The first time was amazing but the second time was not so great. Mostly the fault of us ordering wrong, but not entirely. The first time we had Pork Soup Dumplings, Bok Choy and Griddled Beef. We loved the complimentary appetizer of spice peanuts and vegetables in chili oil. Everything was amazing! The second time we had the Crazy Peanuts, Pork Soup Dumplings, Dan Dan Noodles, and the Stewed Beef w/Radish. The peanuts were good, the soup dumplings were a bit drier than before and a couple of them had broken so the soup had leaked out. The Dan Dan Noodles were not to our liking. WAY too much salt and the ground pork seemed dry and over cooked. Food is subjective, so maybe some people like them prepared this way. The Stewed Beef w/Radish turned out to be mostly beef tendon - very tough and chewy. We found it inedible and sent it back. It ruined the meal for us. We tend to stay away from fat, organ meat, chicken feet, or tough cuts of beef. There was nothing on the menu that indicated the stewed beef dish was tendon. The manager did the right thing and took the dish off the check and then we had a long conversation about "authentic" Asian food. I understand that some people like the things I don't like but I think it would be helpful to describe the dish so that people know what they are getting. A simple description would be 'Beef Tendon' or 'Contains beef tendon' to the Stewed Beef w/Radish. We will be back but we will be more careful about what we order. The manager offered for us to ask for her next time we come in and she would direct us away from things we don't like. Just had takeout from Mama Wong. Very authentic food with great taste. Got the chicken and broccoli (for my wife), the General Tso's Chicken, Pork Fried Rice, and a few spring rolls. The pork fried rice is the best we have ever had, with no competitor even close. The spring rolls had great flavor and the General Tso's Chicken had just the right amount of heat, flavor, and spice. Had an itch for lo mein that needed attention. This is the only place in Chester county i trust to be almost authentic. Have eaten in several times and this was my second takeout experience. The LeBan endorsement gets them coming and the online app is very nice. After that it all breaks down for me. Let's start with no sauces, the veggie rolls are listed w duck sauce but none in the bag. The spicy bean curd looked very delicious but was pepper and hot inedible, seriously could not eat it and i like hot food. Had same experience dining in w the mapo tofu, all scorch no flavor. Shanghai wonton is good but not chinatown good. Lo meins were above average, scallion pancakes just so so. With the covid nightmare we all have to live, many places struggled to refactor their operation for full take out and early on it was painfully slow at most places. These guys were beyond slow tonight with a line 7 deep and very long wait times. Given that restaurants get to charge as much for takeout as dine in and with less overhead, one would think that they would optimize. I don't review to jam anybody, just to be honest and help the next yelper. I gave this a 3 and that was pushing it. The whole place needs to up the game for my money. After only receiving decent Asian food in Philly's Chinatown, we decided to give this place a shot. The online review on their webpage looked promising so we gave it a go. 100% satisfied. With all the peppers you would have thought they would have blown your head off - nope. Perfect spice that tickled the tongue but had a flavor mix that simply worked. The chili wontons and chili crispy wings are favorites, as are the soup dumplings and the cucumber salad. Ordered a bunch to try as much as possible and I have no complaints at all. The scallion pancakes were also really good, I've had them different ways and these are the crispy kind fried in oil. I also would recommend the Dan Dan noodles and mapu tofu! I got the mapu tofu and selected with no meat, which was a nice option if you like veggie options. Also the cucumber salad and garlic bok choi were nice ways of breaking up the heat in between spicy bites. Honestly it was all really tasty and we will definitely go back again. I really wanted to like this place. I heard so many great things, and my family and I visited Sunday night for dinner. Perhaps we ordered the wrong things, but most items we ordered seemed to be extremely salty. We ordered Dan Dan noodles, griddled beef with bamboo shoots, fish filet with salt and pepper, xiao long bao, sliced beef and beef tripe in hot chili oil, Ma po tofu and dry pepper chili wings. The dry pepper chili wings had great flavor and crunch - this was recommended to us, and we enjoyed this dish. I also enjoyed the ma po tofu, the tofu cubes were nice and silky and bathed in a spicy sauce. The Dan Dan noodles and the sliced beef/beef tripe was way too salty for our liking. Also, when the xiao long bao came out, the sizing was very inconsistent - we had some tiny ones and some regular sized ones, and the soup was missing from most of the dumplings. While the flavor of the meat mixture in the dumpling filling was fine, they call it "soup" dumplings for a reason. The fish filet was not fried long enough, in my opinion, and pales in comparison to the double cooked fish that I've had at other Szechuan establishments. Overall, service was accommodating, but either we ordered the wrong things, or everything started to taste the same after a while. This was a true strip mall surprise! Craved dim sum but didn't have time for the trek into city and stumbled upon this place in the burbs. Everything was amazing from the moment we walked in. Owner greeted us and was very friendly. No one else was there at first but then it filled up rather quickly and was bustling. Every order came out fresh without a very long wait. Soup dumplings (xiao lon bao)- hot and juicy, comparable to the quality of Dim Sum Garden in the city though it could've had a bit more soup inside just because we liked it so much. Great dipping sauce, would like grated ginger to go with it next time Spinach skin dumplings - pork filled very tasty skin a bit thick but well made Scallion pancake - made to order crispy and fresh and not too oily, could've used a bit more scallions to balance out the dough ratio Crystal shrimp dumplings (har gao) - big pieces of shrimp in every bite with the perfect dipping sauce Pork Chinese dumplings (shumai) - this was amazing. We eat these a lot and have never seen one so generously filled like the ones we got here. Seriously, so good Schezwan dumplings - the chili sauce is to die for but not for the faint of heart as it does have some kick but just the right amount of punch if you like spicy schezwan style Sweet potato donuts - made to order so took a bit longer to get (note to self order ahead next time) but it was very good. Great texture though a little on the oily side. Would recommend a light dusting of powder or fine granulated sugar for presentation factor Overall an amazing place to enjoy dim sum. Go here if you want Chinatown quality food in the suburbs. Plenty of free parking, another bonus! We'll be back again soon! Update: Came back for dinner and it was a very different experience. Would give it 3-4 stars for dinner due to the extensive wait for the food and the charge for the condiment of chili sauce which seemed petty considering how much we ordered and how long we waited for our food. Tried this place for the first time based on reviews and so glad I did! Our previous Asian place has gone downhill so we needed to branch out. Mama Wong's is fantastic! We got the dry-rub chicken thighs. vegetable fried rice, and spring rolls. The entree was enough to share between two people. Everything was so fresh, especially the vegetables on the fried rice. Prices are reasonable. We did an online order on a Saturday night and our order was ready in 15 minutes! This is our new Asian go-to and we are looking forward to trying more items on the menu! read more

Highly recommend. Very authentic and delicious. Always fresh. The spicy shrimp is incredible. The general Tao tofu is also super good. I loved their spicy sour potatoes but I didn't see it on the menu lately. The book Choi is great and the garlic dishes are also amazing. read more
