After you remove ice, their Thai iced teas fill up less than half the cup. If you ask them to leave out some ice, they won't do it. I'd been buying beef pho on my credit card here for 5 years here. Was told today I'd have to buy more than that to use a credit card. Pho was $9. New minimum is $10. I mentioned my five-year history of credit card purchases (certainly worth well over $1,000) but the guy just pointed at a sign. The pho is very good. But they skimp wherever they can and don't give a shit about customer service. Oh, also they'll do stuff like periodically not serve limes, and if you ask if you can have some, they'll say something like we don't serve limes. "But you used to. Do you still have any? Take this from someone who used to eat here several times a month, there has been a recent change in management and not for the better. The prices went up but the food quality and portions have noticeably declined. They're using a smaller, chewy-er, and definitely less fresh baguette for the banh mi. They have also cut down on the amount of noodles and meat you get in the pho. The service before was never friendly, but at least it was efficient. The poor new cashier was clearly overwhelmed between people picking up food, calls coming in, and people dining in each time that my pickup order sat for 30 minutes, getting cold on the counter. Not MOFO, but Mama Pho. The manager in the front was exactly that, a sweet maternal woman who showered us with lovin' throughout out meal. We have had some withdrawal since our Boston Pho run, so it was nice to try this place out. Our favorites were the pork banh mi and the catfish pho. When you live outside of Manhattan, options for Vietnamese are very scarce. I discovered Mama Pho about 2 years ago and for the location it was a decent bowl of pho and summer rolls. I've frequented this restaurant a lot but recently there's been many changes. First, they added a vast amount to the menu which is great. The downside? They raised pricing tremendously. When I first started coming here, the summer rolls were 6.25 for two HUGE shrimp summer rolls. They are now 7.50 which is not a terrible difference but the worst part is that the summer rolls are now HALF the size that they used to be. So not only did the prices go up, the portions were cut in half. If you just want a quick viet bite, I would suggest going for the regular beef pho, can't ever go wrong with that. read more

The worst Pho I've ever had. All I could taste was the sugar and the star anise. How anyone could possibly give this place even 3 stars let alone 5 boggles my mind. This is not Vietnamese food. I ordered delivery from here for lunch today. The highlight was the shrimp summer roll, which was too expensive for the portion size but overall really tasty. I also got the tofu noodle salad, which was very bland except for the random chilies in the dish, making it overwhelmingly spicy. FINALLY. Real pho in New York! I'm originally from the Bay Area, which has the largest Vietnamese community outside of Vietnam. Basically, I love pho and have had lots of really good pho. That was before I moved to New York and found the local pho scene lacking. Maybe I haven't tried enough places here but as far as flavorful broth, and authentic flavor, this is the place has been the best so far, It's delicious and I highly recommend it. I ordered a delivery through yelp and did not receive a confirmation email. I contacted the restaurant directly and asked if they had received the order through yelp. The man on the other end of the phone got aggressive, told me an order from yelp was impossible (even thought I was charged) and I should stop wasting his time. Two stars for food taste only. We order 2 phos through Eat24 and it took over 2 hours for them to be delivered to our apartment which is only 1.8 miles away. After contacting the restaurant (which took 10 attempts of no answers) it took two minutes on hold for them to find our order, which had supposedly left for delivery, but was not delivered for another 45 minutes. Upon arrival it was lukewarm (and that's generous). I contacted Eat24 directly, which was busy and took 20 minutes to respond, and they were not able to offer any assistance besides contacting the restaurant, which I had been able to do in the interim. This place is solid. Perfect portions. I wouldn't say generous, but enough meat. Broth is legit. Summer rolls come with 4 small pieces at 5 bucks and a variety of beverage options. @sriracha chick below, I don't know about NY but in LA the pho joints reuse bottles and refill them so I wouldn't worry about the expiry date too much. They probably have to refill it several times a week anyway. I've been a handful of times now and there are always Asians there. That says something. read more

Mama Pho is over. This is the type of place typical of the area where the food isn't that good and people don't have that much experience so they have no idea what it should be. I've eaten there many times and I would've normally rated them between 4 or 3 stars. Last night I visited and the food was so disappointing. We both ordered the Pho Tai, the spring rolls and the Papaya salad. The broth was watery and underseasoned. There were only about 1 ounce of beef and the biggest offense was there was no fresh Thai basil served alongside. In fact, Mama Pho has stopped offering Thai basil and has the word basil blacked out with Sharpie on the menu. This is ridiculous since fresh herbs are part of the Pho flavors. They did have cilantro in the soup but basil should be part of it especially since it's a $12 bowl! We also had spring rolls which were very unfresh and fried in rancid oil. Totally inedible. The papaya salad veggies were fresh but the sauce was a gross sweet sauce. Papaya salad should be a balanced blend of vinegar, fish sauce, soy sauce, fresh chili and a touch of sugar. This was just sugar liquid! We had to ask for extra lime to cut the disgusting sweetness. We're both very familiar with Vietnamese food, especially pho and this was really poor quality. The service is always good and when we complained about the spring rolls they removed it off the bill. I won't be coming back and will just have to trek to Manhattan or Queens when I crave my favorite noodle soup. read more
