If you're looking for a low priced dining spot offers a lot of options, Mama Hamil's offers a great buffet. The barbecue ribs were surprisingly good and you can stuck your plate as much as you want. The line went quick on Entry and the staff was constantly cleaning the tables. Overall the decor is family style seating

I tried Mama Hamil's for the first time today and I get the hype! The food was so good. It's a good place to go if you want Southern cooking or bbq. I appreciated the many vegetables to choose from and the fried fish was delicious. They open at 4pm for dinner. We got there within 5 minutes and it was already a lot of people. There is plenty of seating upstairs and downstairs. However, for the amount of people, I do wish the buffet was spread out a bit more; it was a bit tight. Hand sanitizer at the beginning/end buffet would be nice too. I enjoyed just about everything. I thought the Mac n cheese was just okay, but I did appreciate that it was more of a homestyle baked mac. Atmosphere is very casual. The building has an old farmhouse or barn feel from the outside. Inside is wood tables w checkered cloths. Decent prices. Plenty of parking. Overall: I'd go back!

I really didn't enjoy my food here and found EVERYTHING to be VERY bland. My mother and aunt love this place and when I looked at the menu I could tell I was probably not going to like the food here but I would still give it a chance. So I don't eat pork and based on the menu I assumed most of the vegetables would be full of pork and that assumption was 100% correct. I had two plates of food which probably wasn't worth the price of admission here. The two plates of food I ate here were just very bland to me and nothing I would want to eat again. My mother mentioned she thought the food was far less flavorful than it had been on her past visits. Overall I can see why lots of people would love this place and if you want to stuff yourself like a hog with a lot of hog flavored food then this is definitely a place you will enjoy.

So things have change since the last time I been here. Price is up and quality is down. Still have a lot customers as before. My complaints are all the sides like mash potatoes, green beans taste like it is from a can or made from a packet. Chicken and dumplings had no meat. Ribs are salty and dry Fried chicken and bake chicken is still good. Service is still quick and nice. They have AC on the top floor now which is more comfortable than before. If you want to fill your belly this is still a good place to go. $14 for lunch and $17 for dinner.

This is definitely a place for you to stop by if you're solo or with even a big group. They have so many different options of food that anyone will find things they like to eat. The food is all cooked ok but nothing is delicious and it's fairly easy to make your own plate. It's an old neat place to visit for lunch. There is basically zero service but I one was mean at all.

Food is always amazing!! My family comes here at least 3 - 7 times a week!! The main two waitstaff, Bertha and "Tip" (Jonathan) are wonderful and that is the two we try to have!! Great personalities!!

I have fond memories of dining at the old restaurant which was much smaller than this one but served the same great food. Fast forward to the present and the only thing that has changed is that Mama Hamil's is in a much larger building. I had lunch here earlier this week and can say this food is just as great as it ever was. Because this restaurant serves such good food it had to expand to serve its customers. Let me give an example. When I arrived last Wednesday at 11:09 am they were already slammed. The parking lot looked like a football game was being played with the number of cars there. Inside, my wait in line to pay was only about 6-7 minutes so that made me happy. The line moves fairly quickly. For lunch my price for the buffet with a drink and tax was.......$14! Yeah, that's not a typo. Then I got a plate and started visiting the various food stations for salads and other appetizers, veggies, meats, bread and desserts. I filled my plate to the hilt and then tried to find a place to sit. Most of the 2 & 4 person tables were being used so that left sitting at one of the two very long benches communal style where there were a few spaces open. It's a great way to meet people and I sat among several people all remarking how great the food here is. EVERYTHING that I ate was delicious. The meats and veggies were made just like your grandmother did and just made me smile while gorging on them. Not only is the food delicious and all you can eat but to only pay $14 total including drink and tax is a steal. For dinner the price only increases about $2 and I think they offer even more food items then. How can they do this? Mama Hamil's is a Mississippi institution and one of the best in the South. There is only one. Come and enjoy the very best in Southern cooking and save some money too.

Wow! On my way from Memphis I was checking for a good place to eat that was good and not out of the way! I decided yo try Mama Hamil's. When I started to read the reviews to be sure I wanted to go here, MY review from 9 years ago was the first one!!! I loved it then and NOTHING has changed in 9 years. Excellent service and THE BEST food ever! Cozy family atmosphere and Gramma's cooking. Don't pass this up!!!

Wide variety of food. The smoked meats are delicious, but the chicken has been dry the past few times. Lots of veggies, breads, salad. Nice ladies serving tea. Lots of deserts.

This buffet is truly amazing, the only negative is they make you purchase a cup, a small cup at that, if you want to take your drink with you. However, the food is great, cabbage and creamed corn to die for!!!! And to top it off, they even have fried GIZZARDS!, YUM. Definitely a must if you are in the area. read more

My family and I were in town for a wedding a the bride suggested this place. So thankful for that! I live around Chicago and needless to say there's no good southern food up here. We didn't even stop to drop our bags or shower (after driving over 12 hours) before heading for some grub. There is EVERYTHING you could possibly imagine and it was all good. I'm pretty sure I ate a little bit of it all. If I'm ever in town again this will be my first stop. read more

Awesome Buffet. Vegetables !!!!!!! Nanner Puddin! The little flat Johnny Cakes are great. Friendly staff. The Madison Ridgeland High School room in the back is great. Lots of memories there. Come here if: 1. You're super hungry 2. You love Southern food 3. You want to feed a large and hungry family The fried chicken here is fantastic. The sweet tea made me ridiculously happy, but it was my first time having sweet tea in about three years. The greens (either turnip or collard) were a little under-seasoned, but the corn made up for it. Definitely get the pecan pie. Don't expect too much atmosphere-wise. Pretty good buffet. The only problem is that on Saturdays at dinner time it is EXTREMELY packed. The buffet area is a bit small which makes it cramped while trying to fix a plate. Also I had to wait on food to be put out again a few times. Saturday evenings are awful. read more

Wow, forget that it's only $9 for the lunch buffet. The food is actually very good. It doesn't even taste like buffet food. The fried chicken was very crispy, the fried liver and gizzards were over the top. There's really nothing to complain about. The selection was very extensive. I didn't get to try most of what they have. Definitely have to go back to try the catfish. read more

My family is straight from the South... Louisiana that is and Mama Hamil's is absolutely the BEST southern food that I have eaten in a restaurant. I walked into this funky decorated buffet and wasn't expecting much. I heard all of the hype and was dragged there by my internship supervisor. I was humbly surprised to have so much deliciousness touch my tongue. It should be a crime to have an all-you-can-eat buffet priced under $10 in a state with the highest obesity rates in the nation, but thank goodness for it!! The food was always hot and straight off the stove and they never let any pan become empty. Overall, the food and the Southern style hospitality was on point. AND, don't leave there without having dessert. The bread pudding is magnificent! read more

My initial reaction is "more is not necessarily better" the options seem endless, the portions are unlimited, the food quality is pretty good (not great...good). But, for a super buffet is it head and shoulders above any other I have tried. Plus, the price is very very reasonable. read more

For the most part, Mama Hamil's is good southern food. Sometimes few vegetables maybe under seasoned, but overall I give the food a 4 out of 5 for buffets. It is 100% better selection and price than Two Sister's! My only complaint would be the hours of operation during the week should be extended because the lines and seating sometimes is overwhelming. read more

What can I say...it superceeded our expectations. When we arrived the line was snaked around the inner lobby but within five minutes it was wrapped around the building. Luckily our graduation party of 15 were able to be seated and thats when the gut busting began. Ribs, Meatloaf, Sliced Beef, Chicken 3-4 different ways, beans, mac-n-cheese, cabbage, greens, black eyed peas, the salad make up was awesome(not sure what green makeup that was but I still tasting it), they even had a small antipasta station. There was so much more but I can't give myself a sensory overload while I'm so far away. For so many people at a buffet setup the food area and seating floor was constantly cleaned and never appeared run over. People each person was less than $12...Yes I said less than $12. I'll be passing through again and will alway refer others. read more

I've eaten here many times and intend to continue. Probably the best Home Style Buffet in Mississippi and maybe anywhere. I've never found better "home style" The food is great and does taste homemade. Lunch is $10.00 buffet, drink & tax included. I gave it five stars but the buffet layout is crowed and slow. Hamil's is a great place for great southern style food. They do a great job creating a consistent quality Buffett. If you don't like southern food then you will not like Hamil's. However, if you like southern food you will absolutely love Hamil's. And the service is great also. It is often crowded but that comes with offering a great product at a great price. read more

Good buffet ! I had the fried gizzards, greens, fried okra, rice and gravy, creamed corn and ribs. For dessert I had a cinnamon roll. The negative parts were we almost had to sit at the communal pic Nic table, but luckily a booth opened. The other draw back is the huge no gun sign out front. Signs don't stop criminals. read more

Check the hours before you go. We went tonight, Wednesday, and they were closed. They have very limited hours. Big disappointment. Update: we went back and went during open hours. It was WORTH THE WAIT! Some of the best food ever. So good, we went again the next day! It can't be missed if you are in town. Do yourself a favor. You won't be sorry! read more

So, I hit up Mama Hamil's in Madison, Ma and man, it was a real Southern feast. I grubbed on some comfort food. The fried chicken? Crispy goodness that had me feeling all kinds of satisfied. And let's talk about those mashed potatoes - creamy and the many vegetable options are what I really needed. Turnip greens, Lima beans, black eyed peas, okra, a great salad bar and more!!! But the star of the show? The catfish. I'm not No fancy schmancy stuff here - it's all about that authentic Southern vibe. The place is large but had a cozy flair, like your grandma's kitchen, and the service is friendly as heck. So, if you're into down-home comfort food that hits the spot, Mama Hamil's is where it's at. Full Disclosure, Professor caught a damn Snorlax right out front of Mama Hamils. When you pull in and drive through the gravel parking lot, you might think - Is there really a pokestop over here? Yup and the pokes are better than you'd expect! As I said earlier, I caught a Snorlax and a starter during my visit. There is a gym in the cemetary next door, but you won't catch the professor anywhere near it. I aint going to get a bunch of damn ghost just for a pokemon gym on a cellphone game. food is great. the only place i know you can get livers that isn't a gas station. me and my crew ate 3 plates then went back for banana pudding. read more

Their buffet has so many different varieties of food to choose from. The price is awesome. The food is beyond delicious. I treated my mom to lunch there and she loved it. The buffet is $12 per person and that includes your drink with free refills. They have excellent service and great hospitality. They have good southern soul food to tender chicken and ribs cooked on the grill on the buffet line too. There's so many delicious vegetables, meats, salads and desserts to choose from. So if you're looking for a nice enjoyable buffet then this is the right place to go. The best buffet in Mississippi. read more

Always a great time headed to mama Hamil's. Cant wait to go back again with our whole family! the buffet is always packed with fresh food. The environment is family friendly and the tables are always cleaned ASAP!! Staff is so nice and genuine. Mama Hamil's peach dessert is the best with some ice cream on top woooo! cant beat it read more

Great southern food, wonderful service. You can't beat the flavor and price. I can't count the number of times that I have eaten here, but I have yet tried every single item that's on the Buffet. First place I went to eat in Jackson and I was in heaven. It's always packed here and for good reason. The food is so great, and there are so many options. All you can eat of the most delicious food. My favorite dessert is definitely the bread pudding. Always leave Mama Hamil's in a good coma read more

Food is pretty good, but I don't eat there anymore. I don't feel safe. The restaurant continues to display a sign prohibiting legal gun permit holders from entering the building. I will not dine there again until they take the sign down. read more

This is the classic southern food buffet at its absolute finest. Food is delicious, and 24. Essentially endless amounts of delicious food. The only downside, you'll need to go home and nap. read more

Mama needs to lighten up on the salt for me. I love home cooking, but you can't take out the salt once it is added. I won't eat here because of the salt. read more
