This review is for 3.5 stars. I came to Mama Easley's on a busy Friday night. The main issue I had was that the whole process was disorganized and stressful. Despite it being the peak of vacation season, they were very clearly understaffed. No one was available to organize the seating process whatsover. No one to guide on how to order or where to go, and limited seating. For common courtesy, we had assumed that you order first, then proceed to get a table. You would think it would be frowned upon to squat at a table when you haven't even paid at the register. But after waiting in line for about 45 minutes, when we got to the cash register, the woman at the cashier asked if we had a table, then almost looked at us like she couldn't take our order because they had no seating. WTF? We instead proceeded to order our meal to go in hopes that a table would free up (it eventually did), but the whole process turned us off. As we waited, there were people in the same boat who already ordered and were waiting for a table, as well as people fresh into the restaurant trying to swoop tables. There was no organization or orderly way in place for people to be seated. After ordering, we waited another 45 minutes for the food to arrive. Ultimately, the food was good - particularly the fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese! BUT, was it worth the 3.5 hour meal for what is billed as fast food? Probably not. read more

Attention! This is a no frills place. All the yelp reviews do not have this info. They have no one who comes to your table and takes your order. You get menus and find a seat. Once you decide you go back to the counter, place your order. That being said now. The food is delicious. We had fish and chips to cheeseburgers, all were cooked to perfection. They have a good beer selection and a few drafts. Flea was great and the staff was very friendly. Will definitely return. read more

It had been a great while since I've had some great fried shrimp. I ordered the shrimp basket and not only was the shrimp great but so were the fries AND their special dipping sauce. We are a family of five and we paid about $60. Everyone liked what they ordered even my kiddos so I do recommend it. They even have a deck to eat outdoors if you choose to do that. Amazing place! Won't regret stopping in for a bite. The scallop steamers are HIGHLY recommend! Crab legs were very fresh (then again so was everything else). Seemed optimal when we were told a 1 hour wait. After 2 hours we checked in and was told our name was skipped over and they would try to make up for it. After having 2 babies and a pregnant female come to the counter they said we can either go home with take out in 45 minutes or sit in the rain outside and "enjoy our meal". We are here on Labor Day night. One of the few restaurants that was open. The restaurant was not busy at all. We sat at the bar and enjoyed taking to one of the servers about the area and about his travels. The food was good. A grilled fish sandwich and a grilled chicken sandwich. Everything on the island seems to come with fries. We both enjoyed our sandwiches. I would go back. read more

At first glance, i was not sure what to expect. Seating is limited and there isnt much room for multiple parties. However, amazing food. If you are looking for a great fried meal head over here. Their fried clan strips and mac and cheese balls were delicious! I only give this place less stars because as i went to sit down my hand found itself in a cold caramelized onion resting on the chair. Very casual place. The bad: order from the counter and they deliver food to the table. They have no washable plates, cups or utensils, it's all single use disposables, which is really surprising for a resort area on the ocean.... tens of thousands of throwaway styrofoam cups hitting landfills or the ocean every month is disappointing and disturbing. The good: good food. Fried green tomatoes done really nicely with a heavy mayonnaise based sauce, decent wings, good calamari, good fried fish, really nicely done burger cooked to order (even med rare). I got a soft shelled crab sandwich which was honestly the best soft shell I've ever gotten (I normally don't like them). The best: truly nice people working there, and I alway like to support good people. The best casual lunch spot on the Outer Banks, the crown jewel of Corolla eateries, and probably one of my favorite restaurants anywhere. No one does fried seafood better than them. Food comes out quickly, the guys that work there are great, and they have an awesome selection of beer. Their fried green tomatoes are absolute fire, as are the crab cakes, shrimp, mahi, onion rings, fries, sweet potato tots, it's all good. We came here for lunch while vacationing in OBX and had a great experience. We were seated very fast considering we had a group of 11. Inside seating was tight but it was just the right amount of room for us. Our food was served quick and everything was delicious. Our favorites were the Shrimp Po Boy, Fried Chicken Sandwich, and the Wings. One of our orders was forgotten but as soon as we let the waiters know, it was out in no time! read more

We came here for dinner after renting a pontoon boat next door. It was the perfect spot. The fried green tomatoes were simply amazing. Numerous people in our party ordered the soft shell crabs and were very satisfied. The fish and chips were also delicious. &While I don't particularly enjoy PBR, $1 for a can is unbeatable. Dining here between 7 and 830 is perfect for watching the sun set. You can follow the boardwalk down to watch it set over the sound. read more

This is the deal with this place. You wait in line to get a table for 25 minutes or more, then you are shown to your seat but then need to go wait in another line just to order your food. It's really weird and there is very little space inside so people are constantly bumping into each other trying to order, getting drinks or going to the rest room. It's cramped inside and very noisy with lots of large parties with kids. All that said, the food finally arrived and it was delicious and flavourful. I order the shrimp basket and the shrimp were fried perfectly and tasted delicious. My husband had the fish and chips which was also wonderful and was a very large portion. If you don't mind a super noisy environment which is cramped and chaotic, then you will enjoy your experience. read more

Outstanding example of a group of young people doing food the right way! Everything we ate was great! Fried green tomatoes and the calamari were some of the best I have had. There were 8 in the group from age 64 to age 2 and everyone cleaned out their baskets. The soft shell crab special was killer!! Ahi tuna wrap, shrimp wrap and the white fish baskets were great and the kids meals were consumed with glee! We hit the restaurant at just the right time and were lucky enough to get a big table inside as the outside tables filled up quickly. Sure there were things that weren't perfect and sort of quirky about the service, but we would go back in a heartbeat!! By far the best food we had in the last three days. This place is a gem hidden in the corner of Tim Buck II. The employees are fantastic, friendly, and welcoming. Its a very casual place, but don't let that fool you. The food is phenomenal. We started with fried green tomatoes, probably the best I've ever had and then split a burger which was juicy and delicious. The sweet potato tots are dusted with cinnamon sugar, which I think makes them a little too sweet. They were still really good. The fries have a wonderful seasoning. I had never heard of this place until this year, so I saw that there were wings on their menu and decided to try them. The building itself is fairly small with limited indoor seating. Luckily, they have several outdoor tables overlooking a pond and the nearby mini-golf course. I got to see a turtle on the day I ate here. Anyway, their wings are quite good, and actually taste like the buffalo wings I am used to. Most places down here don't actually use buffalo wing sauce, or, if they do, they are rather skimpy on the sauce. read more
