Fresh fried food. Exactly what we were looking for during our last lunch in the Outer Banks. We tried a little bit of everything, the oyster and shrimp po boy, the fish sandwich, the shrimp and the scallops. Wonderful simple breading with great sauces including a tangy remoulade and wasabi tartar to go with the seasoned fries. 6 people rang in around $90 as each entree was around $15. The restaurant took us a moment to find and is relatively small inside but we were ordering to go. They had $1 PBR's on special so we sat down for a beer while they prepared the food in front of us. Wow. For the last 4 years of our annual OBX vacation, my family has been coming to Mama Easley's to fully support this local business and this year was not going to be any different (hence my 5-star review of this place from 3 yrs ago). Our experience this year went south quickly after my brother-in-law demanded a refund, because while we patiently waited nearly two hours at their restaurant to receive our to-go orders, several people and even a large group of young kids who arrived well over an hour after us, received their food before we did. Even the gentleman who took our orders acknowledged our frustration and apologized. But the owner decided to take his anger out on me and told the same employee who rung us up to hurry up and get me out of his restaurant because he doesn't want to see my face at his place anymore. As appalling as that was, I told him that despite his encounter with my brother-in-law, we were still there supporting his business and that we had every right to be upset after waiting so long for our orders and other customers who placed to-go orders after us received their food before us. Instead, he proceeded to argue that I don't know how a kitchen works and they're allowed to make mistakes. His arguments and insults towards me were all over the place and didn't hesitate to disrespect me in front of other customers even after I waited much later than the pick-up time we were given. As I said, his own employee owned up to the mistake of pushing other orders ahead of ours. I have never ever been treated so badly at an establishment, especially one that my family and I have supported for multiple years. The owner needs to take a page from his employee's book on holding himself accountable and knowing how to treat others respectfully. We have been to many restaurants where mistakes are made, but those same restaurants that are well-managed certainly don't insult their customers who are there to support their business. We told him that 13 of our family members were not going to have dinner as a result of his behavior, he then responded with, "Well you're definitely not going to have dinner tonight." I am at a loss for words. This is NOT how you show your appreciation to returning customers who supported your business for years--but he clearly has no regard for that. The owner's poor attitude is reflected in his responses to other 1-star reviews on Yelp--no accountability and blames the customer for their bad experience. Meal was very satisfying. I went there to pick up Togo ordering and was pleased with the service for a Tuesday evening. Not quite as busy before I arrived in a small line with the cooks on the other side of this establishment cooking some pretty nice treats. Poe boy and the fried green tomato was excellent. We also had there chicken nuggets for the kids and all packaged nicely for an to go order. Time on food readiness for our order specifically was @ 40min. The restaurant is small with limited/awkward seating and a small sign that says please wait to be seated; the hostess is also the cashier and so the hostess duties are hard to fulfill completely. Apparently, you should wait until everyone orders before you take a table.. even if the restaurant is not that busy and your party are the only people in line and a meal was ordered for every single person. You may get comments made as you order for your half of the party ("are you sure that is going to be enough food?") and there may be fake announcements made to the kitchen staff ("by all means, sit wherever you like"). This was a real gem to find. New restaurant with great food and good seafood. The food was fresh and the restaurant employees were wonderful and welcoming. Hats off to Matt and Charlie for making me feel welcomed when I wandered in here alone this week looking for a good fish sandwich. Well, the special of the day was a soft-shell crab basket. I watched Matt dredge two fresh soft-shell crabs through a deliciously light dry batter mix and waited with glee for the result. It was AMAZING! So amazing I brought my family back the next day, and then another family the next . . by the end of the week it was my family and I and Charlie waved as soon as I walked in. This place is small, but good. The tea is fresh and you can sit outside and overlook the putt putt golf complex right outside. The food is fried but not greasy. Fries are nice and hot as well. The food isn't bad but was not happy with the disregard of cleanliness especially in our current environment. The same person who takes your cash is then picking up empty beer bottles then handling your to-go containers including touching the side sauces and throwing the sauces inside the food containers. All without hand washing. Not very sanitary! So now that dirty sauce container is touching my food? Ugh! From what we could see, those in the kitchen appeared to be compliant and clean while cooking and handling food. We really enjoy this place. Started coming a couple of years ago. Their offerings are fresh, tasty, and comes out quick. The team working there is always very kind and attentive. Visiting from California on June 29, and so glad we found Mama Easley's tucked in the corner of a shopping center off Ocean Trail in Corolla. If you're in this area, it's worth the stop hands-down. NOTE: It's to the right of the mini golf from the parking lot while facing the water. Vinny and the guys are super energetic, friendly and fun, and this translates into fare that's fresh and tasty--like nothing we've ever had anywhere in the world--and we travel a lot. Adorable little dive. Owner is so nice and all of the workers are just a group of nice, chill guys. I got the fried mahi fish sandwich and onion rings. Being a bit of an onion ring connoisseur, it means a lot with me saying that these are the best that I've had in a reallyyyyy long time. They are beer battered and have the perfect amount of bite left to the onion. Husband got the chicken sandwich (super good) and the sweet potato tots which are addictive. We also got an appetizer of the fried green tomatoes which are a must have. I'm also picky about my fried green tomatoes (some places serve them almost soggy) but these were on point. This was our first time to Corolla and had a shortened week due to hurricane Dorian. With two kids in tow, 3 and 2 months - we wanted an easy place to get good seafood to go. We ended up getting Mama Easley's twice during our vacation. Once to go and dined in the second time on the back patio. The fried shrimp basket and the fried scallop basket were amazing. It's our 1st time visiting Corolla from Ohio... got down here earlier than expected and had almost 2 hours before we could check into our rental house. Had my twin boys and dog with me. Wasn't sure how things would be given the whole COVID-19 thing... but I called ahead and placed our order and inquired about outside seating and allowing dogs and was reassured it would be fine. They even brought my dog a bowl of water! The food was fresh and hot and ready in minutes. Will definitely be back! The view and atmosphere outside is vacation perfection! Also there is no water view except of a coi pond. Most important thing is to watch the rush. this island during the vacation part of the year gets super hectic and every single place will jam up. So if you can't get reservations at one spot it has nothing to do with the place and more with the general fact that the whole area of Corolla is way overcrowded. So this is a decent place for seafood. The service is good. However it is really really loud inside. Also it's in a giant Town Center type place that is super crowded with cars so it's hard to get too. They have some high seats and some regular ones. You order at the cash register and then get a sign for your table and you can fill your soda up at a fountain or get tea. I had the fish sandwich it was pretty good. read more

Basic fried food that was very tasty. The onion rings and fries were fantastically crispy and well seasoned. The wings were ok. Not super flavorful, but they satisfied the craving. The man working the register was not wearing a mask that stayed up on his face. Soooo disappointed after seeing the 4 1/2 star rating! $35/lb snow crab served with FAKE butter - which leaned more towards a vinegar than, maybe movie 'butter' at best - was such a let down! I feel like 80 cents worth of real, melted butter would be money well spent to get a customer back! That's a fail! Every keg/beer tap was non-functional! Minimal lighting (one porch light for three tables) for outside seating so we ate in the dark! Something black came out of soda fountain into kids drink! The hot sauce on table had mildew spot built up inside of bottle! Huge shavings of Parmesan cheese on calamari was a first for me and frankly, just strange. Needless to say-NOT a dinner!
