So you can do some grocery shopping afterwards! This place is pretty busy though so make sure you come in a bit early if you want to get seated right away. I went here 30 mins before closing, all their tables were full. I got pork dry hot pot for the first time. It was a bit too fatty for my taste but i think it was still pretty good. Best soup dumplings (xiao long bao) I've had in the northwest (including those in Vancouver BC). Though the dough is not as thin as what you would get at DTF, the flavor is beyond compare. It's rich, complex, and just sinfully good. My usual order is their pork xiao long bao, mamas house special bao with pork (pan fried), braised beef pancake rolls, house special vermicelli, and any of the dumplings (I'm partial to the pork with fennel, which has a lot of fennel... mmmm). You can also buy their dumplings frozen and cook them at home whenever you're feeling the late night snacks. Truly one of my favorite restaurants in the area. If you're visiting IKEA, I'd highly recommend swinging by here for lunch or dinner. Also, there's a fantastic sugar cane juice place just down the hall at the Great Wall shopping mall. read more

The soup dumplings were my faves with decent amount of filling and soup! The spicy sauce for the wontons were similar to DTFs but not quite, but still a good option! I've been here twice for takeout, and both times have been so good. The first time was when indoor dining was still available. They only had one staff member hosting, bussing, serving, and taking all the online and phone orders. It was impressive how much they were hustling. Despite the busy-ness of it all, they were kind and gracious about trying to get everything done in a timely manner. The second time I came here, indoor dining was banned, but they were equally as busy with takeout orders. They worked their butts off and got my order done in 20 min. As for the food, I can honestly say that I like their dumplings better than Din Tai Fung or Dough Zone. The ladies that make the dumplings are such pros, and their dumplings reflect their talent and craft. I got the crab with pork xiao long bao, the Mama's special bao with pork, and the spicy intestine noodle soup to share with my partner. Every single dish was on-point. I get over here about once a month for xlb dumplings and spicy wonton but they offer a pretty large number of dishes. The service is efficient and cordial- the male server isn't chatty and that is okay with me! I do love their spicy cold noodle dish that often is served as a small appetizer alongside picked daikon and could eat a whole plate of it. If you haven't tried this yet and you enjoy northern Chinese cuisine, this is worth a stop. One of my personal favorites in the Kent area- just know that on any given "normal" weekend day, the parking lot at the Great Wall Mall is packed. Ordered many different dishes online for delivery. We spent $75 but the food is only enough for one person. Honestly feels like $30 belongs to the delivery service and $40 worth of food. The food is very greasy. Probably contributed by the take out. Even so, their house famous beef buns are bland. Traditional beef buns you would taste the scallions and maybe some gingers. I just tasted soy sauce and grease. The beef roll is misleading. It says rolls on the menu but only have one. Oh, I get it. By cutting that one roll into two to call that rolls. An even more homestyle version of Doughzone, Mama's Dough really "doughs" bring something new to the table of the local bao scene. Located in the same shopping complex of Ranch 99, I somehow always make the mistake of doing my shopping before the eating. You'll find it on the right entrance (coming in) or left exit (going out). The place is very unassuming and very cozy and all the food we've tried so far has been fantastic. What really sets Mama's Dough apart is, well, their dough. The dough of the buns, the xiaolongbao and even their pancakes has a chewier more engaging texture than both Din Tai Fung and Dough Zone. This is mostly a matter of preference, but it left a more homecooked impression on me than the others. The beef pancake in particular really stood out: that green onion pancake wrapping the beef is some of the best I've had in the Greater Seattle area and there is no doubt I'll be looking to order more pancakes when I visit next. Mama's Dough is a fantastic spot to eat, so next time you have some groceries to pick up, consider grabbing brunch or dinner too! read more

Located in an Asian plaza, 10 mins from the airport. The store is a few stores on the left after you walk through the door farthest right, facing the plaza. Parking was plenty and easy to find but when we left around 11:45am Sunday, it was packed. Wanted shu Mai and dumplings so thought we tried here especially since there was no line and reviews were generally good. Got seated right away and a tea pot was brought out without being asked. Tea was 1 Lipton tea bag in the pot that we had to let it sit for a bit to get any tea flavoring. The steamed pork dumpling was perfect but it came with tiny sliced ginger potion. Am sure we could have asked for more. The pork fried rice was good. The pan fried dumplings, pork and chives and pork and sauerkraut ordered, were good. Prefer the pork and chives as the one with the sauerkraut is not for everyone. It was likened to bratwurst and sauerkraut. Cold chicken fish, the meat was not tender, quite dry. The beef pancake roll was good but portion seem small compared to others I have had. Wonton in chili oil was not flavorful enough. Would be back for the pan fried and steamed dumplings though. Made a mistake ordering shu mai, they don't have them. If you want some, there are some at a bakery around the corner, in the same plaza. I was in the area and needed a quick lunch so I decided to stop by alone. The place is not big but I got a table right away. I wanted to try multiple things, but since I was by myself I got the pork & shrimp XLB. While you wait, they give you a tray of side dishes that were all pretty tasty. It almost reminded me of Korean style banchan. The dumplings were solid and had good flavor. The wrappers were solid too. Very consistent, whenever I come here to eat it is always very good. For dough dishes get the xiao long baos and the panfried dumplings. I also recommend the fresh pulled noodles, you can see them pull your noodles behind the glass barrier after your order. Their non dough dishes are also pretty good. Was excited to hear that there was a new place similar to Din Tai Fung and Dough Zone in Kent. But our excitement was short-lived. We ordered a bunch of different things to share family style: the golden egg fried rice, the pork XLBs, green onion pancakes, sauteed green beans with garlic, the pork wontons with spicy sauce, and pan fried pork and chive dumplings. The XLBs were overcooked, or oversteamed. We could tell just by looking at them when the server removed the bamboo lid. They looked all shriveled up and not as pretty like at DTF or Dough Zone. Not a good sign. They were indeed overcooked, but the inside was ok. The rest of the food pretty good. I liked the green beans and the pan fried dumplings. The fried rice was fine too. The wontons were just meh and the green onion pancakes kind of had this chewy rubbery texture, instead of a crispy one. The verdict: the food is not as good as DTF or Dough Zone. If for some reason you can't make it up to Tukwila, then this will suffice. We think that they might be better at making the noodle soups, so we're going to come back to try that, but we'll skip the XLBs in the future. When we were paying, the lady asked us how the food was and when we told her about the XLBs, she took them off the bill, which was really nice of her to do. Service was satisfactory - our server brought out our food efficiently and refilled our waters, but when we wanted to get our check, it was impossible to get anyone's attention, so we ended up just going up to the counter. Best xiaolongbao in WA hands down. This little unassuming shop inside a mall is the place to go for xiaolongbao. They have mastered the delicate balance of flavors and chew on the dough. Our other go to orders are the house chowmein with the fresh pulled noodles. Yes! Fresh pulled noodles! We also love the spicy chicken. The soup wasn't as flavorful and the dough was quite fragile and kept popping which was rather disappointing. After reading about this spot, we decided to check it out for some takeout! It's located in the Great Wall shopping center inside a modified strip mall that has some really good stuff in it! This is one of a dozen or so Asian restaurants, including a number that focused on dessert. You could seriously come to this place for a late lunch, go shopping in the grocery store and then grab some food on your way out as well! Truthfully, you could probably just Peru's in this place all day, trying different cuisines and then just hanging out afterwards. But I digress, we came here for the soup dumplings and the soup dumplings, along with some bao, we had. The crab soup dumplings importance of junk legs are both excellent, with the crab being a slightly bigger crowd pleaser. It was something like $11 for 10 of them, so a little bit cheaper than many of the other places in the area. For the bao, we got beef that were pan fried, and they were solid. I would order the soup dumplings over the bao, but if you have a group, it's worth getting both. We got 20 dumplings and five bao for our group (Four adults and five kids) and found that was plenty as appetizers before dinner. We also had a couple left over for the next morning. In fairly standard Chinese restaurant fashion, it feels like there should be a big fish tank..I'm not sure if there was one or not, but it would not have surprised me if there was one there! They have an open space where they make the dumplings, and boy do they make a lot of dumplings! I definitely gives you an appreciation for what goes into making all those delicious little soup filled pockets from on high! Our order took about 15 minutes to be made and be ready to depart with. It was the perfect amount of time to go over to the grocery store around the corner and grab some mochi for dessert! I just love the food at Mamadough. I have been going to Mamadough since it opened three years ago. My favorites are Chinese Sausage Noodles, Red Oil Spicy Noodles, Spicy Xiao Long Bao, Salt And Pepper Shrimp, Spicy Eggplant, and Chicken Wonton Soup. There are more that I like too but I repeat these a lot. My pic attached here is Tempura Shrimp, Spring Rolls, Pork Belly With Boc Choy, and Fried Dumplings. The soft drinks, beers, wines, and sake are very cold which I like. You can dine inside or do takeout or delivery. Frozen buns, frozen dumplings, and frozen wontons are also available for takeout and delivery. The location is at The Great Wall Shopping Mall near IKEA in Kent which has easy parking, lots of shops, and a 99 Ranch Asian grocery store. Inside it's cool in Summer and warm in Winter. Mamadough is comfortable and relaxing. It's also quiet so you can have easy conversations at your table with family or friends and kids. I prefer quiet restaurants. There is no background music playing. Two TV's with sound off and closed captions play Chinese food channels, and football in season. The chairs and tables can be moved close together for large groups. I have seen about 18 people for a Birthday Party. And there is a big round table. I'm an American who has been studying Chinese at community college on and off for the past five years. That, and a three week trip to China, led me to discover what real Chinese food is like. Now I'm a huge fan. Mamadough has a great menu and the dishes are amazing. Fresh, tasty, variety, and great presentation. Ping Ping, the owner, really likes meeting customers, and offering good healthy dishes is her goal. She delivered 12 free Mamadough Lunch Box Specials to Kent Valley Medical Center Hospital once or twice a week for about three months last Spring, to help the medical staff when they were so busy. I saw them being delivered and took a pic. Bty if it is your birthday come to Mamadough for free Handmade Noodles for "Long Life". She has electric light Holiday Keychains for customers again this year, and still has Chinese New Year stuffed animals left for the kids. It's a nice place to go. read more

This place was terrible. The food and the service. We got sat down pretty quick because there was no one else really inside. We ordered the chicken chow mein and pork buns. So the pork buns, not impressed. I'll post a picture up and you can be the judge. There was clearly more dough than meat inside that bun. The chow mein was dry and very bland. One of my favorite new dumpling places. Everything tastes freshly homemade. The beef noodle soup wasn't spicy at all even though it says it's spicy and it looks spicy but it's more sweet to me. I love how they made the hand chopped noodles! The steam dumplings are ok & so were the pan fried buns. The xlb and wontons are a must. The other thing I forgot to take a picture of was their onion pancake beef roll. I would skip on the beef and settle with the green onion pancake. But I had a tasty lunch here and the service was fantastic. Appeared to be family owned and operated. I'd rather give my business to a mom and pop shop over a chain like DTF. I think they are over priced anyway. I got the pork wontons in spicy sauce, fried rice and the pork xiao long bao. It didn't look like a ton of food but it fed me and 2 others. And filled us up! I loved the soup broth that fell out of the long bao when you bit in. So tasty and perfectly sized. The fried rice was excellent and exactly how you thought it should taste. Not too much soy sauce. My wife and I moved from Atlanta, GA to Seattle just a week ago, and let me tell you, we were stoked about Chinese food in the West coast. And one of our first stops had to be 99 Ranch, which was reminiscent of home for us (both of us are originally from CA). After buying a mountain of groceries from 99 Ranch, we saw Mama's Dough and, given the fact I haven't had Xiao long bao in Atlanta for 4 years, I was dying to try it. Good news: Xiao long bao was so good! The soup was so hearty and it lived up to its hype. Bad news: The rest of our food....not so great. Considering that we're moving and buying tons of stuff, my wife and I decided to go on a budget meal and share Xiao long bao, pig ear, and beef scallion pancake. The pig ear was decent, but my goodness, they were clumped and stuck together so tightly. My wife spent more time trying to tear them apart than eating it. So that means that they were not fresh and probably just defrosted or came from a jar or something. No bueno. The beef scallion pancake (which is one of my favorite Taiwanese dishes): are they rationing?? It was literally one roll cut in half. It was tasty, don't get me wrong, but my wife and I stared at each other and literally mouthed : "Is that it?" Total bill came out to be over $30 and we were still so hungry. Pan fried dumpling. I like it here. It doesn't look much. Very unassuming place. Service was very personable. The owner was very sweet and this is not always the case in a lot of Chinese restaurant. The dough were thinner and I didn't feel so bloated after the meal. She says all the noodles are hand made and I think I prefer this place more than Ding Tai Fung. I've been to this restaurant several times. Each time we have gone the food is delicious. Mama's Dough is in the Great Wall Mall. In the Great Wall Mall there's 99 Ranch, AT&T, Cathay Bank, several other restaurants, an herbalist, a bakery, and a couple of bubble tea/dessert places. No matter what time of day we go to the Great Wall Mall we usually have to drive around to find a space that's somewhat close to the entrance. Mama's Dough has yummy dumplings & baos, handmade noodles, and vermicelli noodles. You can watch the ladies behind the window make the handmade noodles and dumplings. It's fun to watch the lady with a long roll of noodle dough while holding both ends, fling it above her head and slap it down on the counter and then repeat the process several times. read more

I have never had them prepared in such a manner, and I went a bit overboard eating them for dinner, so I didn't have that much available for lunch the next day.
