I am a single parent with one mode of transportation. No loaner offered, but guess I was fortunate enough that they at least gave me a ride home. Malloy Ford was an extremely disappointing experience for me. I owned a Ford Explorer for 10 years that I purchased and serviced at Battlefield Ford in Culpeper. They kept it in great condition and I never had any major issues. After moving to Winchester, I started taking it to Malloy Ford, assuming a Ford dealership would provide the same level of service. In February 2025, I brought my Explorer in because it had an odd smell and hesitation when going up hills and when reversing. They replaced tie rods and several seals and charged me about $2,000. The smell went away briefly but returned. Throughout 2025, I brought the vehicle back four more times for the same issue. Each time they tried something different, and by the end of the year I had spent about $9,800 with them -- yet the problem was never actually identified. In January 2026, while backing into my parking space at work, the vehicle skipped again and the smell became very strong. The transfer case blew out in the parking lot, leaving me stranded an hour and a half from home. A local mechanic came by and immediately recognized the smell as gear oil related to the transmission and confirmed there was a large hole in the transfer case. When I called Malloy Ford, they took no responsibility and showed little concern, despite the nearly $10,000 I had spent with them trying to fix the issue. Since I now needed another vehicle, I spoke with their sales department. I had hoped the money I had spent there over the past year might at least be considered. Instead, I was told multiple times that the service department is separate and there was nothing they could do. I was also reminded several times that my Explorer was 10 years old. In the end, I did purchase a vehicle from them -- a used Volkswagen Atlas with about 50k miles. I chose not to buy another Explorer due to the well-known transmission issues. Unfortunately, the problems didn't stop there. After owning the Atlas for only 30 days, it would not start after work one day, leaving me stranded again an hour and a half from home. I had it towed back to Malloy. The service department initially told me it needed a battery and offered to replace it for $700. When I questioned how a certified pre-owned vehicle could need a battery after only 30 days, they eventually agreed to replace it at no cost. Shortly after, they informed me the battery was not the issue. The vehicle had to be sent to a Volkswagen dealership for diagnostics. They determined there was DEF fluid in the gas tank that had crystallized, requiring the tank to be flushed and repaired at a cost of about $1,000, plus a $355 tow bill. Malloy Ford again took no responsibility, stating that I must have caused the issue myself. I have never owned a diesel vehicle and did not even know what DEF was. I had only put gas in the vehicle three times since purchasing it. I'm not even necessarily blaming them for the DEF being there -- they may not have known -- but the complete lack of concern or willingness to help after everything that had already happened was extremely frustrating. Their only response was that the vehicle came with a 3-month/4,000-mile warranty and I should call the warranty company. At the end of the day, buying from this dealership provided no added value or peace of mind compared to buying a used vehicle from a private seller. Very disappointing experience overall. read more

I bought a car from Malloy Ford of Winchester. Within a week, the check engine light came on. I brought the car back, and they cleared the code, which supposedly showed nothing wrong. About a week later, the light came back on, so I took it to a different shop (Dodge). They diagnosed an oil pump issue and quoted about $1,000 to repair. Ford did not assist during this process, even after I found out the problem originated from the old oil pump in the car. I also purchased an extended, premium warranty, which they claimed would cover the part. However, they only offered to pay 50% of the cost after I had owned the car for just 30 days. This experience has left me frustrated with the service and willingness to stand behind their vehicles and warranty.So a total of 4000 was spent after purchasing and certified used car with and extended warranty. Offered no assistance to help with this problem. I recommend potential buyers consider getting a second opinion on engine-related issues and clarifying warranty terms upfront. I've been a customer of Molloy since 2016 and I've never had a problem with them at all. I never had an issue with them trying to upsell me or sell me something that I didn't need. Had a new vehicle with less then 1000 mile with a no start, every time we called it was a different story, and it got to a point they couldn't keep the stories straight. After 3 months had to pay a tow truck to go get it and tow to another Ford dealer for repairs. Called Ford Pro and got them involved and still no help, they just created another story for Ford Pro. recently visited Malloy Ford of Winchester to check out a 2021 SUV that appeared to be in mint condition online. I was excited about this vehicle despite its high mileage--154k miles--which had initially made me hesitant. Still, I was ready to overlook that because I thought I had found the right deal. When I arrived, I was disappointed to find that the SUV was far from perfect. It had rips around the liftgate, and the passenger door didn't close properly--issues I could have overlooked if the price had been right. I had done my research and came prepared with offers from CarGurus and TrueCar, which both quoted an out-the-door price of around $18k. I was ready to make a purchase that day to end the exhausting car-buying process. Unfortunately, the experience at Malloy Ford was far from smooth. After confirming the car was still on the lot, I test-drove it and noticed the transmission pulling slightly, which was concerning. Despite this, I was still willing to negotiate and showed my offers to the salesman. What followed was a frustrating back-and-forth. The salesman took my offer to the finance manager, an older gentleman with gray hair, who seemed more interested in running my credit than providing a straightforward out-the-door price. While we waited, I overheard the finance manager saying, "I can't give her numbers when I don't have numbers to run," which was ridiculous since all I wanted was the final price without financing. After a long wait, they finally presented a price of $20,736.78--completely out of line with the $16,994.00 sales price. To make matters worse, the next day, the dealership texted me several times, trying to justify their inflated price and shady tactics. On Kelly blue book they valued my car at $9200 with a disclaimer that the approved dealer may negotiate a lower offer.Fine, I had the vehicle detailed and drove over there. I was shuffled around by several appraisers and one guy ( who wasn't who I spoke to on the phone. After a lot of waiting (45 min) he finally sits down and starts the lowball. Look, my car has very little mileage and is 8 years old , so yes it has lots of minor surface scratches, but only one bad one 2 1/2 inches long.Everything else is working perfectly and is good shape. He pulls out some created list and offers me $2500 and then in the same sentence says he'll do me a favor and increase it to $5000. Everyone I dealt with was forthcoming, transparent and honest about the entire process. Had a 7:30 am appointment for an oil change and 2 hrs later I finally get an update. They drained the transmission fluid instead of the oil. Now they have to look up how to fix it properly. And apparently I'm not allowed to be angry or have an attitude about it. So now I have to drive a rental car until Monday, make another trip from Spring Mills to Winchester to pick up the car and pay a $50 deposit for the rental since I'm refusing the Ecosport (roller skate) rental ford offered. Was hesitant to contact "authorized" Kelly Blue Book dealer Malloy Ford, especially after reading bad reviews, but did so anyway-mistake #2. Instant cash offer was nearly $20,000. I submitted them my VIN so they could look at Carfax in advance of me driving to dealership to "evaluate and confirm" the instant cash price. Instead, they waited until I drove up there to decide they weren't happy with the Carfax and instead offered me about half $11,000. Even if it is covered under warranty ask if there will be any "diagnostic fee" that the owner has to pay independent of the warranty charges. My truck (2019 f150) developed a significant fuel leak; gas pouring on the ground when I started the truck. Being a curious sort, I move the truck to a clean location and slipped underneath to see what I could see. Found a hole in a short section of plastic gas line leading from the tank. Easy fix! Undo two quick connect fittings, slip damaged tube out, put new tube in and reconnect. Nothing more required; tank need not be moved, no nuts or bolts involved. Figured about a 15 minute job which I expected the shop to upcharge to about 1 hour. I was wrong! Part cost about $200 which was correct based on online parts suppliers. I was told that the repair required 3 hours of labor plus miscellaneous charges giving a total (parts + labor) of about $900. I questions this estimate but was told that that is the "book price". The truck was not drivable so I had the repair done despite the obviously ridiculous price gouging. When I picked up the truck the invoice showed the cost of the part ($201.06) then a single item indicating installation of the fuel line for $674.89, giving a total of $886.61. Normally when a repair is done you receive an itemized bill listing labor hours and other specific costs but this was not done. In addition there was a "surcharge" of 26.60 on the card receipt but this did not show up on the invoice. This is a 3% upcharge because I used a credit card. Out of curiosity, I called another dealer in a neighboring town and asked for a quote to replace the specific part that was damaged. I was quoted $450. plus or minus a few dollars instead of $674. If you look at other reviews of Malloy's service you will find that mine is not an isolated incident. I would recommend finding an independent shop in Winchester for any repairs that do not require use of this ford dealership. read more

I was charged for a tire rotation that wasn't done. The driver's side rear tire is a different brand than the other three. It is still on the driver's side rear, the other three were not touched, and no smudges and road dust are still on them. In the future, I will take my business elsewhere. They used to be a decent, honest dealership. I bought two new cars from them in 2016 and 2018. Something has changed within the past year or so. It may be due to the current state of the economy. They are upselling now in service. And the labor rate for routine maintenance items is exorbitant. Today I spent about $65 for parts and $170 for labor for an oil change, tire change (The Works) and transmission fluid exchange. The bill came to about $290! And during the visit, I was told the tech recommended spark plugs. But I knew I had them replaced there last year! Know your service history! Also, they use BG additives which upset the price. They aren't transparent about this nor offer it as optional up front. I had a bad experience with BG in the past with a pickup truck I owned years ago. They do not honor their warranty. It is a gimmick for dealers to help them charge more. I am meticulous with my car service. Anything BG is a waste of money. I'm definitely going elsewhere for all future maintenance or I will go back to doing it myself. read more

WE saw a vehicle listed online for a great price that had a great carfax report. NO accidents or maintenance issues listed so we requested a test drive. The following morning the dealership called and set an appointment for that day. When we arrived, we met with a salesman and answered a few questions. He then said he would bring the car around for us to test drive. We sat there in the middle of the sales floor for around 20 mins until he returned and told us the car we wanted wouldn't start but they had another one we could test drive. That car was 6 years newer and more than 3 times the price of the car we were looking at. We took the test drive, told him we weren't interested & wanted to leave. I had purchased a new 2019 vehicle last year and they gave it to me without wheel locks. I realized months later once I needed my tire rotation done that I was missing said wheel lock. I reached out to this dealer because my original dealer had sold the company to a new buyer and they told me I had to go through Malloy. Once I reached out to Malloy they were very nice and told me to buy the wheel locks and send a receipt and they would reimburse me. I did everything they asked and haven't heard a thing from them since. Very rude to say you would help someone and then not follow through. The dealership congratulated me on being this months sweepstake winner, USING MY FULL NAME, in order to get me to come into the dealership and give me a sales pitch so I might have a chance to win $2,500, a 65" TV, or a target gift card. The fine print will have you know even though you may be listed as a "sweepstakes winner", that does not mean you actually won anything. I called and got some more information. Not only do they hint multiple avenues to receive the prize (keep the car or get a new one), the reality is they only want you to come in if you are willing and interested to purchase a vehicle from them. This experience soured rather quickly. In short, I was promised a 2nd key to this truck prior to purchase and after (17) phone calls, including calls to the Manager, I've been ignored and lied to. The dealership states the key was mailed and yet not one employee can provide a mailing date, carrier used or tracking #. As an out of state buyer this ordeal in the end wasnt worth the hassle. The front end experience attempts to mask the back end incompetence of this dealership. My experience is unsatisfactory and Malloy wishes to simply ignore their incompetence. This dealership sold me my first and LAST Ford. I was lied to repeatedly. The Ford Focus had to have the clutches replaced 3 times. The Transmission Control Module and Powertrain Control Module had to be reset and reconfigured multiple times. Even as a Class Action Lawsuit was filed against Ford for the horrible Focus and Fiesta transmissions and clutches, Ford would not reimburse me for the car. Even after the lawsuit was decided in favor of all of the car owners, Ford appealed. I lost so much money and dignity and sanity. This dealership is not worth your time. So today, I bring my car for the normal 16k mike service and I get push from one service counter to the other and then when I tell them I am Briggs my car for a service and the mileage I get asked what must they do? I was told they dont offer the Ford Certification ( which was daughter bought a Ford Certified vehicle in Florida,) I was told that the plan I had for the warranty was the same but I did not get points that I was promised. Came here once to have a damaged windshield wiper fluid nozzle fixed and it went well enough, didn't charge me too much. Came back for an oil change because my usual place was closed and their waiting room was empty. Asked if they could take me right away and she said yes, asked me if I'd been there before. I said yes and that's when it got weird. First she asked me "with tone" why we didn't have service when we were last here for the nozzle a month ago. Didn't need an oil change a month ago, so I don't see how that's relevant. Then she says "Okay, it will be about an hour..." so I asked "I thought you could take me right away?" Her response was a sarcastic "That's how long it takes, we're not Jiffy Lube!" Now I don't go to Jiffy Lube, but most places I go only take 20 minutes. Even if they do a more comprehensive service, I didn't need the snark. Definitely won't come back here unless the service warrants going to a Ford service center for my Escape. My usual oil change place down the street is always friendly and quick, so I'll be sticking with them for routine stuff. read more
