I showed them a can of 50% Revere Pewter and told them to make it the exact same. They only wrote down HC-172. I said there are four or five numbers on the can showing the exact color combination and they said that HC code will match it perfectly. Over $2k later of painting the house...it's not the 50% Revere Pewter. The walls are different colors. This company will only comp my paint can. So frustrating even after I told them to double check. Their negligence becomes my cost and frustration. They don't care at all. read more

I've been meaning to submit this since last April, and I hope the staff who did such a great job for me at the Mallory store in SODO are there to see this. Hands down, they've always been the best paint store, and Benjamin Moore the best product, I've ever worked with. Been a fan of Benjamin Moore paint for decades, but I also loved my 'inherited' living room wall color from a different vendor, a brand now owned by a big box outfit. It is the best dark brick red I've ever seen, my furniture pops happily against it, and I'm decisively not interested in changing it. So, here is the story of the color matching/touch up nightmare I went through, only to be rescued by Mallory SODO, even with non-Benjamin Moore painted walls. When it came time for some repair and touch up of the walls due to hanging and rehanging pictures and moving my television, I patched walls and then I spent over a month trying many (maybe 40?) samples attempting to even get close to the original color using the original brand, and color match services from the big box store. All trials failed completely. Worse, the big box store wouldn't even take back the quarts and pints and sample jars, of their own big box product! Biggest lesson from the whole mess - never will buy paint from the big box stores. Feeling defeated, and facing up to the work of picking a whole new color and a whole room paint job instead of just the touch ups intended, I went to my favorite Mallory store to check out my options. First, they took back all the opened paint that had accumulated over the months from the other company because they participate in the take it back program. Second, they matched the color (I cut out a small square from the wall) with only a tweak needed for sheen, since the original paint was somewhere between two of the current products. All of the staff were incredibly helpful and customer focused. And, the person doing color matching has the skills of an artist and designer that one does not see these days. Most rely only on computers, but those of us who work with real paint understand that color in the real world involves so much more. It requires talent and training for that eye. It is worth paying for, I would have paid more. It is worth time, although they turned it around fast this time. And, it is worth me taking the time to try out mixing the two sheens. All painting in your home requires the customer time and investment, color matching is a process that requires working WITH a skilled staffer. The payoff, though is this - I now have the formula and proportions so my living room walls look just perfect and can be maintained with the color I love. Thanks to Mallory. Mallory as a company has always carried what I consider the best product and other Mallory stores, more convenient to various contractors I hired, always have done well for me ordering over the phone. But, I hope the management knows what a gem they have with the SODO store and staff, 'my' Mallory store for I hope many years to come. read more

Seriously, everyone at this shop is just amazing. I look for opportunities to go out of my way to get my painting supplies here- every sales person I've interacted with whether on the phone or in person is personable, helpful, inquisitive about my projects, and proactive in offering solutions to make sure my projects go well. For example, they double checked which primer I should be buying for a tricky project, even though the primer I had picked out did list the substrate as compatible on the can. They were able to offer a better option with an explanation of why that would be the superior option. And they offered to shake up the can as well! They offer their opinions on color and finish as well which is really helpful. Every time I have ordered paint they have it ready in 5-10 minutes for pickup which is great because we all know that home improvement projects can put you in a time crunch. Plus, the location is easy to get to from most areas in Seattle and is nearby other hardware stores and showrooms so if you're working on a project there's usually another stop you need to make nearby. Parking is easy as well. Overall I can't wait to find something else to paint. :) read more

Best paint store in south Seattle. I was a SW man for years - like 20, until I walked into this shop 6 years ago on the one day the SW across the street was closed and I NEEDED paint that day. This is now only place I shop for paint - personal or business. Benjamin Moore is QUALITY paint and you can tell from the first brush stroke. The staff there is just as good, better, than the product and both Bruce and Mary have always been there to suggest a better way, technique with the sprayer, or product to save me time and money. The paint is pricy. True statement, but you really are paying for quality. And one craptastic paint job is all it takes to convert someone to good paint. That is all the Mallory Paint Store sells. The worst! I called this store because Sherman Williams said they wouldn't have the color in for a week. I was on a time crunch to start the painting. The assistant manager, David, said no worries, "we would never make you wait so long." I was told that the paint was going to be ready when I got to the store. I figured that sounded right since I was traveling almost across county to get it. Almost 40 mins later, I get to the store to find that they didn't even start to prepare it. (So much for working with the assistant manager.) And, then another 10 - 15 minutes later, they tell me something about not getting the color right and it would be another 1/2 hour! The older man that ran me up said he would give me a discount and then gives me the price I was quoted over the phone in the first place. Stick with Sherman Williams - at least they are honest!!! read more

I'm loving the fact that Miller is the head manager of this store now that I live in Seattle. Every employee that works at this location goes way above and beyond when you need help with anything! Parking sucks, but other than that this is an awesome Benjamin Moore store to shop at. Store manager's name is Miller. He telling lies. He got my all importation but after hour he forget everything. He should call me back. I desired to match a discontinued Pratt & Lambert exterior latex paint for patch-paint purposes. I went to a P&L retailer who diligently attempted to match the color and the "flat"/non-sheen appearance without success. I just happened to come across Mallory. Bruce assisted me. With only a sample the size of a quarter coin, Mallory reproduced the color and flat appearance PERFECTLY ! The Benjamin Moore paint from Mallory is an absolute 100% perfect match. My patch paint is indistinguishable from the years old P&L paint job. Mallory knows what they are doing! read more

By far my favorite paint store in town. As a professional painting contractor, quality products and good service are hugely important to me. Staffed with some of the most knowledgeable employees in the industry, they are the first ones I call when I have a question or need help on a unique project. Unfortunately for all of us paint has gotten more expensive over the last couple of years but frankly you get what you pay for. I'd rather pay a little more and have the peace of mind that what I'm using will hold up and look great for years to come. I already liked Mallory paint store after one of their staff demonstrated complex knowledge of color and light when he assisted me in matching paint to window coverings in 2013. He saved us from a terrible recommendation from the drape-maker and we are very happy with how the room came out. After what happened this month, we are truly devoted. Last year Mallory matched a custom stain the previous owners had made at Daly's for our balconies, fencing and deck. We'd had some problems with getting the stain from Daly's previously, and wanted somewhere closer to home. This year we wanted to re-stain the decking and needed just a quart of stain. I was mid-project when I opened the new stain and found it truly did not match what we bought the year before. We took it in and senior staff spent a full hour with us experimenting until he was able to find the error in the formula - all for a $14 can of stain! Although the error was a bummer, the commitment to fix it and save our project was tremendous. We love this place. Top notch customer service. read more

I've been going to this paint store for over 7 years. The reps. are super knowledgeable, helpful and quick and are really nice about pulling out the large paint chips and answering my questions. I especially like working with Bruce who has helped me numerous times on my painting projects. I often have a hard time deciding on colors and they will look up formulas for me so I have a sense if the color is more gray, green, brown, etc. Great little paint store. read more

If that interests you, then this is your store. $70 paint, empty shelves, employees sitting on counters, managers/owners walking by and giving you a fake smile as they walk to the bathroom and/or coffee machine (how about you actually lift a finger and help out for a change, instead of going to and from your office, while the store is filled with customers, and you just sit on your butt and ignore the world!?)
