I went in to the big box store to find supplies my husband needed. I couldn't find exactly what he wanted so I went to Sherwin Williams. I had to ask for help looking for specific paint rollers. I called my husband to ask if he needed anything else before I left the store and he said he needed other things. So I had to ask for assistance again. Martin and Bryan were helpful and nice. I've learned about cheap paint the hard way, by choosing to pin the south facing side of my house with any old primer and paint from the orange warehouse store. Only having to paint it again about a year later! After that experience I chose to get higher quality professional paint and it has lasted for 7+ years. I've continued to go back to this location for paint and guidance on many projects with great satisfaction, they're always happy to help. I needed trim paint, so I called Sherwin-Williams in West Seattle. You know the one. It's in the parking lot of the gas station. Fill'er up, grab a six pack, and a gallon of of paint...I digress. Anyway, so I called the Sherwin Williams there and this is the phone conversation, paraphrased for brevity's sake. "Hi. I need trim paint. It's #6419 called Saguaro. Do you have something in the Emerald line?" "No. We can't make that." "Actually, you did make it. I got the color from Sherwin-Williams originally." "I know it's hard to understand, but [insert lots of stuff about base colors here] and we can't make that color in a trim paint." "Can you make something close to this in ANY kind of paint that'd be suitable for trimming out a room?" "Hold on." I hold. "I talked to a colleague and we can try to match it, but no guarantees. Can you bring in a bit of the paint?" I pause, thinking, 'it's on a paint chip in your lobby!' But instead of stating the obvious, we just talk a bit more and I agree to take something down there. When I arrive, someone else comes to help me. "Can I help you?" "Yeah. I've been taking to A about XYZ [paraphrase phone conversation here] and can you try to match this?", unashamedly handing over my wet blob of Saguaro, #6419. "Well, if the system said we couldn't when he put it in there, we can't." "Then why did I drive all the way down here with this blob of wet paint?" "He's new." More back and forth ensues before she disappears to the back to dry my lil blob, so she could try to match it. She returns to the counter, doing some stuff, before settling into it, "We can't match it - what we'd mix would be off by 4 deltas. You're going to be able to tell since it's trim against the wall." I walk out grumbling, pause, then turn around and walk back in. "Just to confirm, there's NO paint in any line that I could use for trim that you could tint this color?" "No." I walk out, even more grumbly, then turn around and walk back in again. "Okay, if I choose something else, how can I know that you're going to be able to make it in a paint for trim?" "Look on the back of the paint chip. If it says 'interior only' we can't make it in that color." I walk over, look at half a dozen. None of them - including my beloved Saguaro, #6419 - say "interior only". WTF? I stalk out to the car. I sit in the car thinking to myself, "Self, this is silly. This is a Sherwin-Williams color...you're at Sherwin-Williams...what's going on?" So I call the Burien store, "Hi, I need trim paint in #6419, Saguaro, and I'd like it in the Emerald line if you can...they have that trim poly." He pauses, "Okay, no problem. Anything else?" Wow. I said, "Thanks, I need to check something. I may be calling you back." So I call the 4th Ave. S store. "Hi. I need trim paint in #6419 Saguaro." "Okay, hang on...well, we could do it in xyz paint, but if you want to go a little higher end, we could do it in the Emerald line..." You gotta be freaking kidding me! Anyway, now after battling traffic, I finally have this gallon of paint. Perhaps it's not going to match and the West Seattle Sherwin-Williams folks will get the last laugh here, but for now, it's 2 stars. read more

Went in with some color choices in mind but realized we were over our heads with all the finish and paint types. Jason jumped in and provided extremely helpful guidance that helped us make a decision we were happy with. Despite the place being super busy, Jason kept a positive attitude while multi tasking between customers and getting us sorted out in their system. Working with this store for 3 years was a nightmare. My former company required me to use the watered down Sherman Williams paint and they found it impossible to match my buildings apartment interior paint color. My brand new apartments on California Ave were literally painted twice because they couldn't match a common color and sheen. I suggest you Go to Home Depot with a paint sample , they will match it in 5 minutes and save you lots of time and money. S-W west seattle just called me 3 years after I left that company (I was tired of painting) to ask me about the latest paint match ...lol Still trying to match it up after 5 years is a joke and that's clearly how they make money. read more

I had a bit of an oddball task on my hands, in the need to mix a custom stain to color match an unstained wood (of a different type than my substrate). Mitch and the rest of the staff were helpful, friendly, courteous, and quick - within a day I had a great match in hand, with obvious care taken to get it right. Friendly and helpful employees. Choosing paint colors is NOT fun as far as I'm concerned and they really help make it a bearable task! They do a great job color matching too. Yes their paint is more expensive than the box hardware stores but the customer service makes up for it! read more

Horrible, incompetent, and rude staff. I ordered two quarts of the same color and they gave me two different colors. Instead of accepting responsibility and taking accountability, Teresa got defensive and keep saying, "people make mistakes." Catherine the manager doesn't work on weekends, at least not this weekend, and so all I got was the correct color replaced and some primer to cover up the mistake. They wouldn't even refund for all the trouble. Teresa said, "I'm already giving you a free can of the right color and primer to cover it up." Really? I mean that's the least I'd expect when you gave me the wrong stuff in the first place and I painted a part of my wall with it, messing it up. Now I have to drive all the way back and fix my wall after their mistake. I'm loyal to Sherwin-Williams and typically they have experienced employees who know what they are doing. Nothing but kids at this location. They won't own up to their mistakes and don't log things in the computer. They also get their feelings hurt when you call them out on their mistakes. read more

Nice store, nice employees. However, apparently the employees have not been properly trained to mix paint. I found a streak of unmixed yellow paint inside the rim of my quart of green (Gecko) paint, as well as large streaks of yellow paint in the middle of the can. I am shocked that the employee (Abdulkadir) who mixed my paint chose to ignore the visible streaks and sold me a partially mixed quart of paint. This paint is for the front door to my home and I need it to match my trim. I am disappointed. read more

I painted my house a decade or so ago before this store opened, but since it was closest went there to match the original paint. Turns out they don't share customer information between stores, but they were able to contact Burien and get the necessary color info. Interestingly Sherwin-Williams had changed the formula for one of the two colors I needed and they were very careful to make sure that it actually matched. Service was quite slow considering there were only a couple customers in the store, but they employees were knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, and most importantly they got everything right so I don't really mind spending a little extra time. I'll be shopping there again. read more

Great paint and stand out service. We just bought our first home and we are painting nearly every surface. We've been back 3 times now for more projects mostly because of the service we've received. Jessica is extremely helpful and courteous and in terms of her customer service, she is an All-Star, far beyond what you'd expect from a small paint shop. She was able to save us a few bucks on some items and was nice to tell us to wait until the big sale to save on our outdoor paint, which we did and saved 40%. I even left my sunglasses there by mistake and they had called the number on file just to let me know. I don't write reviews often, but gotta give credit where credit is due, so thanks guys (& gal!)! read more

We bought a new house and every single room is painted with a different color. The last owners didn't leave us any color information for the paint and so when we had to rewire the entire house we were left with patches on every single wall and really wanted to be able to do touch up painting instead of repainting the entire house. The staff at the store were so helpful and matching all the existing colors and really working to make sure that the matches were good. They worked really hard and now we don't have to repaint everything, you can't even tell there was any patching done! read more

My husband and I bought an old house nearby this location and they have fantastic 40% off sales every quarter. When it was time to do full exterior paint we saved $350!!! on the ~20 gallons of paint we needed. They do custom blends and save it in your profile which only takes a few minutes to set up, that way you can get more gallons of the same blends easily later on. They will also give you extra recipe blend printouts not stuck on the paint cans if you want to file and save it yourself. For our main house color the staff happily mixed a custom color blend for us when their stock colors weren't quite what we wanted (they did this a couple times between test patches until we got it right). We also changed our minds about the accent color we bought so the staff again helped us to re-blend and darken the goldenrod we had into a beautiful copper tone which we love. Their SuperPaint is very high quality (an awesome bang for your buck at 40% off during their sales for sure!). Their non-sale prices are definitely higher than what you find at Home Depot or Lowes, but the quality is far better. Usually we can just wait until sale time and get what we need. read more

I went into the store for 1 gallon of SuperDeck to a color that they said they could color match. They said it might take about an hour but if I wanted to run some errands they would call me. I went and ran errands and ran out of errands to run. 3 hours later I went back to the store and they had a sample drying that they said looked pretty good - it was no where close to the paint chip I brought in. They said they could keep working on and I could stop back by in another 3 hours or in the morning. I went to Home Depot and my paint was ready in 5 minutes. read more
