Patella- enough food for 3-4 people with leftovers to boot
Rita H.

Service was fantastic! Great Argentinian food and good selection of wines and beers. We had a party of nine and our food was prepared and ready very quickly. They have amazing desserts. Nice little tucked away place. The only gripe I have is finding parking. That was our biggest challenge

Papas Provenzal

My fiance and I came to Malbec Market for an early Anniversary celebration, booked the time and seating through Opentable and voila - all we needed to do was show up and enjoy what they have to offer. The place is simple but chic, the table setting is lovely, elevated but not forced. A casual smart restaurant that has the appeal of a sophisticated neighborhood market restaurant but yet not stuffy and inauthentic - the staff are courteous and friendly. I very much appreciate their attention to detail and their effort to make their customer experience comfortable and memorable, since it's summer, the timed misters are a welcome sight in their Al Fresco section of the restaurant, they also have heaters installed for the colder months. The appetizers are well portioned for 2 and even maybe 3, we were excited to try their Pulpo, however, my fiance is allergic to pine nuts so we opted for the Rabas which is their version of the calamari, lightly fried to golden deliciousness, it was fantastic! We also ordered a side of Papas Provenzal - perfectly fried with a balanced infusion of seasoning, garlic and parsley, definitely a must! For the main dish, we both had the Entraña Al Malbec - Absolutely tender and delicious! Beautifully seasoned and infused with red wine reduction, served with mushrooms, onions. mashed potato and sauteed vegetables - a definite must try or for consideration! Overall, Malbec Market did not disappoint! It was such a lovely experience, great food, wonderful people and convenient location, a definite two thumbs up.

Did NOT know that this place is so close to my grandfather's. I really should take him here one day. It's a nice in between for fancier dining and something for a casual dinner date. Service was friendly, welcoming, and very attentive. Not sure if it was for a special night or event, but they had the entire Beatles discography playing too. I don't think I've had Argentinian food aside from empanadas, milanesa, and some street/snack food, so this was real neat dining experience for me. We got some complimentary bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Simple and delicious but try not to fill up on these! I was already super full from before and I also wanted dessert but did not have enough stomach space. Maybe next time! We got the: 1) Picada de Chorizos: -We paid a bit extra for the upgrade so that we can also get the mollejas aka the grilled veal sweet breads. -This was NOT the sweet bread I was expecting. I legit thought it was going to be like a sweet roll bread, so this was my first time having sweet bread and it was tender meat instead! Very interesting. -This plate of different sausages were all natural with no artificial ingredients or hormones. -It included Argentinian chorizo, red chorizo, thin parrillera (meaning BBQ or grilled, I believe) sausage, morcilla (blood sausage). -Each had a unique taste ranging from slightly salty, to peppery, some which were a bit richer in taste, mixes of spices and pepper, etc. -It also came with a side of potato salad too. -Nice variety and spread of unique meats. 2) Sorrentinos: -These are stuffed round pasta with pieces of ham, smoked mozzarella, asparagus, mushrooms, and a yummy orange sauce (most likely a mix of cream and tomato/cheese). -Different types of yummy mushrooms are mixed with this pasta and there are 5 large, sizeable pieces. -Meats were tender and not too salty. -Creamy and rich sauce. Great dish. I'd love to stop by here again one day!

Swung by during Dine LA week & had a fantastic time! Food was delicious and the wine was so good we bought a bottle to enjoy at home later Highlights were the tuna appetizer & the chicken cutlet. We opted to be seated outside and while it was a bit to toasty at first the shade & fans were great and then as the sun set it was beautiful. Yes it's right off the major street with traffic but the curtains help feel it a bit more peaceful. Will definitely be back!

Tortilla de Papas

So excited I finally got to try this spot! Prices are a bit on the higher end, but the wine selection is great! Our service was a bit slow, but super friendly. To start we had the tortilla de papas! The frittata and aioli were a delicious pair! We also had the prosciutto pizza. It was a bit underdone, but still very flavorful and cheesy. Overall, had a pleasant experience!

I've had this restaurant on my list for a long time, but I had not been close by to stop in. This past weekend we had a long trip and decided to stop by and I'm so glad we did! The restaurant is located in the Main Street of a cute neighborhood. I was able to find street parking nearby. The ambience is very welcoming and you have the option to sit in their sidewalk patio or inside. This place is perfect for every occasion. My husband and I split two appetizers into entrées because we wanted to try multiple things . We started with the carpaccio al trufo which is thinly sliced beef topped with truffles, olive oil, red onions, olive oil, arugula salad, and grated cheese. This was absolutely lovely. Then we had the Jamón Serrano with tomato toast. This too was tasty but I wish they gave you more of the bread. 2 pieces is not enough. Argentinians are known for cooking amazing steaks, so of course we had to try one. We ordered the Ojo de Bife al Chimichurri and it was perfectly cooked to order. I really could've eaten this by myself. The Noquis al Pesto pasta dish was just ok. I will say that the server tried to guide me to get another entree and I still decided to try it. Just to be clear it wasn't bad but I'm sure there were better dishes on the menu. Let this be a lesson to listen to the servers I wish I lived closer so I could stop by more often . This will definitely be on my list for every time I make it out to the area.

After having been to Argentina 5x and falling in love with the culture, this place acts as an island extension of one of my favorite countries. The people who run the restaurant are from Argentina and the customs observed here are very Argentine. I ordered a choripan and a milanesa. Both were probably the best I've had in LA. No necesito decirte más sobre la comida porque la experiencia vas a tener acá será la más auténtica que es posible en Los Ángeles. Buen provecho!

Parrilada, great for 3-4 people!

Amazing food and service! Don't skip on the empanadas, and the beef milanesa is the best one I've had in town. The parrillada is a great option to share, the highlight going to the sausages and the skirt steak! Also don't skip on the sautéed veggies: they're legit the best broccoli and cauliflower I've ever had, and they don't share the recipe (I've tried lol), so you know they're cooking something special.

I've been here twice and both times I enjoyed it . Everything here is tasty, the only thing I have problem with is that their food is too oily. I have tried a lot of things here , including appetizers and sides. My fav thing is their breaded chicken , and the side of carrots. I liked the calamari too. Their service is kind of mediocre but it does the job . I will try their other items :)

Great for take-out empanadas and Argentine wine. It's a great neighborhood place full of local ambiance with a Latin American flavor!

We arrived early and we got seated immediately by Alejandro. For starters we had the pan con tomate, jamón ibérico (a must) and the burrata with black truffle, we had a couple of glasses of wine and sangria, all very delicious . Our entree was the paella de mare and the oxtail pasta (not on the menu) both exquisite and delicious, cooked to perfection. At the end of the meal the crew came over singing happy birthday with delicious slice of warm bread pudding and house made vanilla ice cream. All throughout the meal the service was amazing, always attentive to our needs. Keep in mind it was Friday night and the restaurant was packed only a table was empty. Alejandro too his time to explain different dishes too and gives us a little more background of where the dishes fresh was from The can smell the fresh dishes from the kitchen and you can see them cooking thru the glass windows, the wonderful aromas... definitely a place to come back to over and over again. Everything is served for sharing. This is a Spanish restaurant so think tapas. We shared tapas - albondigas in tomato sauce, Olives and garlic, octopus with potatoes. All so tasty and delicious. For the main meal, we ordered, filet mignon, seabass, lamb chops and rigatoni with peas and serrano ham. We shared each others dishes so that everyone had a few bites. It did not disappoint. I really want to go back to try the paellas.

We weren't disappointed. We found street parking nearby easily, even on a Saturday night. However, Casa Leo does have valet available. We were greeted warmly by the hostess when we arrived. I'd originally booked an outdoor table but we were able to switch to indoor. There were several diners both inside and out when we arrived at 6:15 pm, but the restaurant looked less than half full. We were brought menus and asked for our water preference immediately. The ambiance here is minimal but chic and gorgeous, with warm lighting, plush booths and wooden tables, as well as bar seating. Several plants are scattered around the restaurant and one window looks out onto a 76 petrol station, though this adds a unique charm to the vibe. Our waiter was kind, welcoming and efficient. He gave us great recommendations. We ordered a mixture of dishes including the whipped ricotta, gambas (garlic prawns), pintxo, tuna with tomato, lardons and gazpacho. Everything we had was superb, but my personal favorites were the gambas and the lardons, which was like a small pizza. We also ordered the cheesecake for dessert. It looked unassuming on the plate, with a dollop of pink sauce next to it, but it was wonderfully creamy and light. Definitely up there with one of the best cheesecakes I've ever eaten. We also got one sangria each and I'd highly recommend ordering these, they were delicious. Already looking forward to our next visit.

And the shrimp agua chile was something I would order over and over again if I could! We then ordered the vegetable salad and the oxtail for dinner. The oxtail was a small portion - but the flavor was divine and it actually was pretty filling with everything else ordered. We were too busy enjoying our plates to take photos of them all! I would return to this restaurant over and over again honestly - every menu item was thoughtfully curated and sourced. I truly appreciated my time here!

Service was friendly throughout until the end when another server slapped our bill on the table just after clearing it, without offering dessert or asking if we were finished. We had been there under 90 minutes and there was an empty table beside us with no one waiting and plenty of tables outside. Sunset, spectacular views, and some seriously good food!…read more We had dinner at Chef Jose Andres' San Laurel at the Conrad Los Angeles, and the setting alone makes this place worth a visit. It's on the 10th floor, with a beautiful outdoor terrace overlooking the Walt Disney Concert Hall and The Broad. If the weather is good, sit outside! We arrived around sunset, and dining with that golden-hour view was pretty magical. We started with cocktails. The Japanese Milk Punch sounded amazing, but it was a little too subtle for me. The Pisco Sour, though? Absolutely nailed it. Refreshing, citrusy, just the right amount of sweetness, and perfectly frothy. Then came the food. My favorite of the night was the fennel soup with Dungeness crab--absolutely gorgeous and packed with delicate flavor. The Hokkaido scallops were another standout: beautifully caramelized on top and perfectly plump and juicy inside. I had the European sea bass, which was crisp, clean, and beautifully prepared. My friend ordered the duck breast, and wow--that was fantastic. Definitely going on my list for next time. We also shared the wild mushrooms with a fried egg, and even though we were already getting full, I'm very glad we ordered them. So simple, but ridiculously delicious. No room for dessert, but honestly, who cared? We sat outside, soaked up the views, and lingered over conversation as the evening settled over downtown LA. Great food and service, gorgeous setting, and that sunset view? A pretty memorable night.

The restaurant itself has a very cool, upscale feel, modern, open and sophisticated without feeling overly formal. It sits on the 10th floor of the Conrad, and the outdoor terrace is probably the star of the setting, with a terrific view directly across at Walt Disney Concert Hall. We chose to eat inside because it was HOT outside, and while our particular table was nothing special, the overall layout and ambiance still made it feel like a special-occasion kind of place. The highlight, though, was definitely the food. I started with my go-to: a filthy Ketel One martini with two blue-cheese olives. They nailed it, cold, dirty and exactly the way I like it. The standout dish was the Vermicelli "Mac N' Cheese." This is definitely not your typical mac and cheese. It's made with fideuá pasta, Idiazábal cheese, seasonal mushrooms, egg-yolk sauce and crispy shallots. Rich, creamy, savory and very unique. Easily an A+ dish and something I'd order again without hesitation. My wife had the stracciatella salad with strawberries, macerated figs, Marcona almonds and greens. The presentation was beautiful, and the creamy cheese with the sweetness of the figs and strawberries made for a really nice combination. San Laurel isn't inexpensive, so I wouldn't necessarily call it an everyday dinner spot, but the quality of the food, atmosphere and location make it feel like more of an experience than simply going out for dinner. Being directly across from Disney Hall also makes it a great pre-show choice. Four stars from me. I'd definitely go back, although next time, on a cooler evening, I'd want that outdoor table overlooking Disney Hall.
