Breakfast! Bacon breakfast burrito and eggs, potatoes and toast plate!

We were looking for a different place to eat when we stumbled upon this place, next to Unincorporated Coffee. Food is absolutely delicious! Place was a bit quiet, but I'm guessing it was because people were still at Easter Mass. Anyway, the owner was kind, and allowed for plate customization! Can't wait to come back! Thanks for being open on Easter!

I love that we have a locals only place like Lucys. If you're looking for a good place for breakfast or lunch that you can walk to in Altadena then Lucys is great. I have had veggie omelette and it was delicious. Portions are always big and service fast. I love the murals and music and it feels good to eat some where that's not gentrified like next door.

We stopped by to have breakfast on a Sunday morning. We were the only customers inside the restaurant but we decided to still try it out. We ordered the veggie omelette, house potatoes, and sourdough bread. The food was served in less than ten minutes. The meal was decent and I enjoyed the tasty potatoes, the only negative was the old piece of cantaloupe that was included on the plate. They also had donuts for sale from a shop on Lake Ave and it was super delicious.

From the first day I walked in, you would've thought we were old friends. He makes you feel right at home, always a warm welcome. And his food!!! Always cooked to perfection. Since they say a picture is worth 1000 words, I've included some for your eyes to feast on. Let me just tell you, as pretty as the dish is served, it tastes just as good as it looks or better!! Juan is just a genius! Gracias Don Juan. Siempre quedo Bien llena y contenta!

A no frills neighborhood restaurant offering a quick, authentic meal, dining in or to go, served with a friendly smile. Their menu has the classic Mexican food standards (burritos, tacos, enchiladas, plates of various meats) as well as a variety burgers, club sandwiches, and soups. Assorted pastries, coffee, and their delicious jumbo-sized breakfast burritos make for a convenient stop in the morning. They recently have started some much needed clean up to the restaurant. The fresh paint and new counter help, but new tables and chairs would make it more comfortable and appealing to customers that would rather dine in, creating a draw for this community establishment.

They…read moreactually fight over the *Brussel sprouts* and we have to get them each their own order (they are 5 and 8). They also love the chicken fingers, the fries are phenomenal and the chocolate lava cake is a must. As for my husband and I, he says the French dip sandwich is the best he's had in his life. And he is a French dip connoisseur! He's tried all the regular L.A staples--Philippe's, Cole's, etc.... But he says nothing compares to The Proper. Their burger is also wonderful. I've also had several of their fish dishes and have enjoyed them all. And you must try the warm butter cake. I'm normally a chocolate lover, but I dream about the butter cake from The Proper. I'm not a big drinker, but husband loves their Old Fashions and they have a fully stocked bar with lots of specialty cocktails as well. We love sitting in the long booths, which can comfortably fit our party of 2 adults, 2 kids and often 2 grandparents as well. The service is always wonderful and everyone is very friendly. My only complaint about The Proper is that I hate the parking lot. It's very tight and people don't pull up far enough. But that's a small price to pay for this wonderful local gem.

Overall, we had a pleasant experience, but we ultimately left feeling that the prices just didn't match the overall value. The restaurant itself has a nice atmosphere. The décor is modern, clean, and thoughtfully designed, making it feel much more inviting than you might expect from a restaurant located in a strip mall. It has a comfortable, upscale vibe that makes for a nice dinner setting. The only downside was that we were seated directly underneath an air conditioning vent, which made it uncomfortably cold throughout our meal. For dinner, I ordered the short rib sandwich, and my wife had the three-taco plate, which included chips and tortilla soup. We didn't order any appetizers, desserts, or alcoholic beverages--just our entrées. After tax and tip, our total came to over $80. I completely understand that restaurant prices have increased over the past few years, and I'm willing to pay more for a great meal and experience. However, this felt like pricing I'd expect from a high-end standalone restaurant rather than a casual neighborhood spot. To be fair, the food was good. Everything was well prepared, flavorful, and enjoyable. I don't think the issue is the quality of the food--it's simply the value. While we enjoyed our meal, nothing stood out enough to justify the premium pricing, especially considering there are many other restaurants nearby offering similar quality at a lower price point. I'm glad we gave it a try, and I can see why people enjoy the ambiance and atmosphere. Unfortunately, the overall value just wasn't there for us, and because of that, I don't think we'll be returning.

Nice open dining area that sits about 20 or so, plus seats outside. Just a nice spot for casual dining. During prime hours, you should make reservations. Wait staff is friendly and attentive. And the food comes out relatively quickly. Ordered the Cuban sandwich that came with your choice of fries or salad. Come on now, fries all the time! The sandwich is really large and they are super generous with their pork. The roasted pork was delicious with a hint of smoke (they have a smoker in the back I think). My only complaint is they threw in a couple of strips of pork belly. That kind of gave you an uneven bite in the sandwich, not to mention that the belly strips were rather tough and chewy. The menu is varied enough to make me want to try this spot again, so a pretty good time was had by all.

LATE REVIEW…read more Finding little neighborhood gems when it comes to food has always been an exciting experience for me. Having family alongside makes the journey more special. We chose Holy Saints to announce our baby's gender with our parents and we had an amazing time during our intimate dinner here. The restaurant's ambiance was the perfect combination of homey and inviting. It is a smaller place and the number of tables are limited so I highly suggest making a reservation when dining here. During our dinner, it was a bit difficult to have a full blown conversation as the place was packed with guests when we came plus the loud background music that was playing the whole night. Service and food were nothing but amazing! Their menu is very limited. Maybe not everyone will appreciate that, but I think it is more intentional on what is being served to the table. Our highlight of the night was the Grandpa's Pan Roasted Duck Magret Au Poivre for sure. It was so tender on the inside and crispy on the outer edges! We never had a meal like that elsewhere and we will for sure be back just because of it.

Dishes tried: - Sourdough bread and bbq butter, solid for a bread dish, butter is definitely unique, reminded me of Lay's BBQ chips in a good way - Grandma's Risotto w/ prosciutto, okay for me? Prosciutto was a supplement here and needs it imo for that oomph, otherwise a fine risotto dish but would pass unless it speaks to you - Barnyard Bolognese - a bit underwhelming to start, just too one-note for me, but it eventually grew on me and would get it again if I wanted a rich pasta - Duck Magret Au Poivre - easily my favorite dish here and what I would come back for and recommend for people, tender duck with the right amount of fat and a great sauce. Fries are a bit thicker than I would like, but still enjoyed it. - Seasonal apple pie - more of a danish if I had to describe it to someone, but nice texture and more importantly, not too sweet!

The biscuit, we were too excited to eat it and didn't get a picture but it was hot, large, soft, and very comforting. The gumbo was great! It's a very filling dish and was seasoned perfectly.
