I went to El Cid to attend the Uncabaret comedy show on a Friday night, so not sure I had the typical experience. There seem to be several areas, both inside and out, and it seemed like a very cool place. We were in a room downstairs, which incidentally is reached by a rather treacherous stairway where the railing is about knee height. I'm kind of klutzy, and I was a bit nervous! We had time for food & drink before the show began. We had the chips & guacamole, which was good and the charcuterie platter which had a very generous amount of cheese & salami. Friends had the fish tacos and enjoyed them. The wine choices were limited, and not recommended by others at my table. I had a spicy margarita, which didn't seem to have much alcohol in it at all. So not a place for drinks! The service was friendly, food came out quickly and the atmosphere is cool. The comedy show was terrific!

Came for the dancing and had a beautiful time! We rideshared so idk about parking. The restaurant is beautiful at night with indoor/outdoor spaces, fireplaces, and mood lighting. Service was quick and they paced the meals with the show. Our server was kind. Food and drinks were only okay, but we read the reviews before and expected that. Still a cool experience or date night!

So...I visited back in July 17th for the Carter Vail show. But I just visited this Yelp page just to see how it was doing and I was kinda appalled by the recent one star reviews, because...in some of the reviews they're lying. (Like them having a "big empty gated/fenced parking lot"....they don't and that's why you had to find street parking, get outta here with your entitled self.) Security was friendly, actually had a conversation with them while waiting in line to get in. After getting in I was greeted by Stevee who was so nice and energetic. Got a drink from the bartender, Mitch, who did their thang and me and my friend went in. So staff was great! Design of the place is very unique. And it's a lot bigger than how you'd think it would look from outside. Show started promptly, no issues with sound, and it was just a fun time. After the show, we went to the courtyard and took a photo with the artist. A really good experience. I could see why up and coming artists book shows here.

Is it possible to make a Flamenco reservation for 1 person only?

Is it wheelchair accessible?

The patio is not. The entry off Sunset Blvd has multiple flights of uneven concrete stairs. I hear the theater can be accessed by wheelchair off Myra Ave, but didn't see it for myself

Are minors allowed?

Yes..it's a restaurant. They are probably not allowed to sit at the bar area though. Some special events like club nights, etc may not allow minors. It's more of a romantic setting so I'd still say leave the kids at home.

Is it required to order a dinner package during flamenco night, or can a la carte be ordered from the menu?

I noticed it said there's a El Rey package. What is it? Do they offer different packages too?

There are few different packages, depending on the food choices. Hope this helps

Is this venue 21+ for concerts?

I believe so as they check ID's at the door

Is there parking available?

Yes, there is valet and some street parking.

Is this also a theatre venue?

Yes, inside.

No, that would be Girl in a Coma. Bell Systems was the first act up. It's a nice, dungeony-feeling music space with plenty of room to spread out and enjoy your drinks or your conversation or the music from afar, if you so choose. It also feels like a deathtrap in a fire, but I chose not to continue to think of that when I had thought of that. The sound is very good for how much of an afterthought the stage looks like. I didn't order any drinks, but they have cool names to go along with their high prices. This was going to be a four-star review, but the physical location of Echoplex is confusing and ridiculous. It's tied to The Echo, with which it supposedly shares a building, but you can't get to Echoplex from The Echo or vice versa. Why is that important? Because while both parts of the building are at street level, they're on different streets. The Echo is on the top of the building, which is on Sunset Boulevard, but Echoplex is on Glendale Boulevard. But you can't just walk around the corner from one to the other. No, Glendale Boulevard passes under Sunset Boulevard, so in order to walk from the entrance of The Echo to Echoplex, you must walk west on Sunset, turn left on Park Avenue, then turn left, cross Glendale, and continue walking north until you reach Echoplex. It's literally a quarter-mile walk from the top floor of the building to the bottom floor, and because of the street layout, you're much more likely to be parked near The Echo than Echoplex. For you history buffs, it's really close to the Angelus Temple and Echo Park Lake. Bell Systems was OK. Skating Polly was awesome, although I wish they had played more than ten songs. We left before Girl in a Coma performed.

The sound filled the room perfectly, heavy on the bass but still clear enough to catch every lyric and detail from the stage. I just loved it so much! The energy was insane the moment the lights went down. Being that close to the artist felt almost unreal--there's no bad view in the place, and it really feels like you're part of the performance instead of just watching it. The crowd was hyped, responsive, and you could tell everyone was there for the music, not just the scene. I would definitely go back. Parking is very tricky. I lucked out and paid nothing at 9pm in a lot FREE after 9p up to 14 hrs

We got on the waitlist for billiards and were able to start playing immediately. It was $20 for one hour and we played for two hours. The drinks were wonderful, my friend and I shared a purple ube cocktail and a fresh lemony gin cocktail. I can't remember what they were called but they were so tasty that we ordered a second round. The live music also made everything so special. The performers were absolutely incredible. It was a little bit crowded in there, which would be fine if people didn't keep crowding standing around where they shouldn't be. Last call for drinks was 1:30am, and I think last call for food was 12:30am. At 1:30 we were told to move away from the games area and go upstairs. Everythung was great until I heard a bartender say that me and my friend were overstaying our welcome ... it was barely 1:45 and we were finishing our drinks. That was rude... After that we were told we still had 5mins. I guess we'll leave early next time. It was just rude to see bartenders point at us and loudly say we weren't welcome ...

First off, the parking situation is a nightmare so you better be down to uber if you want any prayer of getting there otherwise you'll be circling the block for 30+ minutes trying to find a spot. Second, the beer was way over priced. You're looking at $17 + tip for a decent sized beer, or paying $11 for a cheap can. That's like Coachella pricing, absolute robbery. Third and probably the biggest turn off, was that the second the last band played their last note, the bar immediately closed and started kicking people out. No final call, no grace period to hang out, just gtfo. Zero hospitality. Overall, I liked the space itself, especially the upstairs lounge / balcony area, but the cons just far outweigh the pros with this place. Logistically terrible location and zero hospitality to speak of paired with overly expensive drinks and not particularly friendly staff did not make me want to come back here. There are far better venues in LA.

When I saw POPPY perform here years ago right after COVID, it was my first concert here and this place is dope because you're literally so damn close to the artist(s) you watch because the stage isn't too high. The acoustics, bass and all around sound here is NICE for a small, intimate venue. ALL of the workers I've met/interacted with were all so damn nice and helpful as much as they can. The outside space is an amazing grassy retreat with a stage, tables and chairs, and a big ol' tree. The crowd was a mix of once rock stars, "hippies" ("burnouts" may be a more accurate descriptor, I suppose, and I'm only referring to their aesthetics and the fact that they were wielding bottles of booze and celebrating the arrival of each of their friends), hipsters, artists and locals. The people/environment was friendly, and it looked like everyone was having a good time checking out the art, drinking wine and beer, smoking cigarettes, listening to music and talking to each other. As far as the art, there was a mix of collage, sketches, and paintings starting at $40, but most above $100 (and way above $100). The space was cleverly curated and there was an easy flow from artist to artist. There's parking in the Barragan's lot (next door) for $5 or street parking. This really cool intimate venue has been around for a while as the spot where old and new bands from Band of Skulls, Unwritten Law, NIIS, SCOWL, Joker's Hand and Destroy Boys (right before they got bigger, opening for Blink 182 on tour!) have all played at. The sounds, acoustics and everything are all dynamically set up by their amazing crew of technicians and staff. Custodians are on their toes keeping things clean around here as well. Security around here are very fair. They don't trip about moshers and stage divers as long as they keep things peaceful and fun! Huge plus! Parking can be a toss up, but that's normal and the price around here isn't bad. Lines usually wrap around the building and into the residential area nearby with peoples' houses. It's pretty damn funny, IMO. I was able to see NIIS, Scowl , Destroy Boys and other awesome bands here . Super chill, fun venue!
