Omar and his team are among the best in this business because they truly care and want your event to be successful. They are a literal dream to work with. They offer a beautiful space that can be transformed into just about anything with state-of-the-art A/V systems and screen projections. They are able to offer many things in-house that you would otherwise have to find with outside vendors. Their kitchen is top-notch and the bartenders know how to make your guests happy. They are flexible and easy to work with from the first moment you meet them. On top of all that, their prices are reasonable and the quality you get back is worth what you pay. Just a little south of Wilshire on La Brea sits Candela. It's odd because we had our work Christmas party here, yet I swear I've been in this place before but I can't for my life recall why. There is a large hallway when you enter, then a bar to the left side in a separate room, and I think the women's restroom is across the way. If you kept straight, you enter the large ballroom where there are bars on either side and a stage in front where the dj was. For our particular event, there was a long table set up on the right side for a minimal offering of food while there was random furniture set up throughout the venue along with a couple of photo booths. The food was good, the three stars is for their system and how dark it is inside, although maybe it's a vibe they want or I'm just getting older. haha! They have outdoor dining and inside there are high tables and some lounge seating with lower tables, chairs and booth. A neon side on one wall and a couple tvs by the bar. The bar is small for the way this place gets crowded. Not only are they serving drinks to customers at the bar but they are using half of the bar for waiters and table drink orders. So really you only have a corner of a bar to order your drink and wait. One bartender doing everything, poor guy. We had a group of 10, seated at two tables next to each other. The tables were small and low, like below our knees. No server. The bartender had to take our orders at once and then split it between the two tables after. We were all confused but went with it. You would think it would be easier to order at the bar individually and close the tab? Anyways so when the confusion ended, we got our food. I ordered the taco tour which includes 4 tacos of your choice (seafood ones cost a little extra). I liked it. Fish taco was soggy but the slaw was good. Rice was flavorful. The meat was alright, definitely needed some extra salsa or something to add more flavor. It wasn't the most ergonomic nor comfortable seating to eat. People were bent over to eat their food on the table. I put my food on a separate plate and held the plate to eat to avoid bending over. Overall, we had good food and drinks. It is expensive, but I wouldn't expect anything less esp in LA. The playlist is poppin'. The bar needs to be expanded which I hope they have in future plans. Visited Candela one evening and instantly fell in love with the nice outside decor of an arch and beach. Lots of inside seating and I heard there's even a hall for special events although didn't get the chance to see it. I love the Art Deco touch on its overall decor and furnishings. It's spacious, clean, and sophisticated. Just not a fan of the neon lighting which made it difficult to take decent pictures. There was only one server when I came in. Although it wasn't really busy but she seemed overwhelmed.It took awhile before I was greeted and seated. It took additional time before she came back to ask for my order. I told her that it was my first time and for the life of me, I forgot my glasses and with the fun lighting, I can't really see anything on the menu. The lady wasn't really helpful. She seemed to be rushing me so I asked for guacamole and chips to go with my free shrimp ceviche courtesy of off the menu. Both of these items were great. Ceviche was loaded with lots of fresh shrimp. Same with guacamole. Portions were generous. I was happy with both. I got charged $12 on my credit card for both items. I added $2 tip although I wasn't happy with the service. However, these two items cost $6 each. Ceviche was supposed to be free. Guacamole should have been discounted 20% for yelp check in. Sad to say, I was obviously overcharged. Moral lesson, bring your eyeglasses always. read more

This is my default spot for tacos in Los Angeles. Especially, on taco Wednesday's. OMMMGGGG, let's commence with tacos are a food group. Ok, now that that's been settled. Candelas has a wholly amaze litany of tacos, including awesome vegetarian options: such as creamed corn, fried potatoes, and a sort of squash. My usual in these three tacos, they are a tried and true staple. All in all, they have 30+taco varieties. Also, their iced teas are yummy. Oh and the chips/salsas arrive at yr table in a delectable set of four. And I only need One basket of chips folks, to share with friends. Nothing tastes as good as skinny, baby. ;) The fun part, is their constantly evolving taco of the month. Surrrpriseeeee, ya never know what ya might encounter. Customer service here is excellent: Luv ya guys. This is a sports bar; however the decor is super hip, millennial, it feels welcoming to a girl who's not into a bar vibe. Warm, hand carved wood furniture and cool neon signs. Most folks come with a friend or a group of friends, so they keep to themselves and don't bother a girl. The space extends beyond the initial restaurant area, adjacent there is an additional venue space which is massive and contains additional tables, couches, and a bar area. It's cozy but spacious. I came here for a travel agent event put on by the Preferred Hotel group. They offer valet parking but we took Uber which they paid for, very generous of them. 5 Stars for the food, 3 stars for the service. Came for the Wednesday taco deal for a party of 3. Each person particiapting has to purchase at least one drink ($10-$15) and then you get $1 tacos (seafood tacos excluded). They have a great variety of tacos and drinks to choose from. Drinks were great, tacos were amazing, but service was a bit slow. It took about 20 minutes for 9 tacos to get to our table each time we ordered (we ordered 3 rounds total). The orders were definitely not accurate but we were so hungry that we ate it anyway. All the tacos are good so you can't go wrong. I highly recommend ordering all at once otherwise you'll be sitting for 15-20 minutes in between each order. Usually when you order tacos, they explain which taco was which. They didn't do that until the last round of tacos. Server was nice but not all that attentive. He asked if we wanted another basket of chips, we said yes but they never came. We asked for water refills and that took about 15 minutes after already sitting at the table with empty glasses for 45 minutes. It was busy so understandable but they did seem understaffed. We were also charged for two extra tacos but I didn't think it was worth waiting another 15 minutes for another check for a $2 difference. I'm taking away a star because of the vile valet staff. The cater-waiters & bar staff were fine. The venue & security staff were excellent. The food was delicious & the pours were generous. But, both of my interactions with the valet staff were unbelievably negative. If you don't want to be in customer service, you don't like people & you can't even imagine that anyone on the planet would have a different POV ... you shouldn't be in a customer-facing role. They were ALL nasty, rude, abrupt, self-absorbed & utterly unconcerned. I watched them do this to several people, unless you were a celebrity. Not famous? Not worth it! Since parking is quite impossible in that neighborhood, guests at the event had no choice but yo use the valet. The only other negativity was that a guest wanted a coffee, but I guess the host hadn't ordered coffee to be available. Instead of just brewing a pot, they offered her a cold brew. Feeling desperate for the caffeine, she accepted, but when she asked for cream, milk, anything ... they didn't have anything like that in stock. Nope. Wait ... you have a fully stocked bar, but have nothing with a cream base in it? They didn't even offer any suggestions. So, that was disappointing. I would avoid events there & not recommend it for people looking for a venue, almost entirely because the valet staff was evil & the bar staff not at all proactive. If you have to think of every eventuality in advance to ensure your guests are served, that's just exhausting & nearly impossible. You need a staff that is willing to think outside their box. Still living Candela. Been coming here for about 3 years. Always a great go to for good tacos and enchiladas. Staff is always professional and friendly. I enjoy the margaritas, chips and salsa, guacamole, Baja fish tacos, garlic shrimp tacos, veggie enchiladas plate. Music and vibes are chill unless there's an event in the back then it's all the way live in this mutha! I do miss the pre-pandemic days of Candela themed parties, but things are slowly coming back. Used to come here all the time. Awesome tacos. Decided to ride my bike from Manhattan beach to get lunch. Their Yelp says open 24/7 which clearly they are not. Their Instagram has no answers. Got here and the door says opens at 4pm. Sitting here at 4:10 no sign of anyone. Googled for 5 minutes and a Facebook says to opens 5pm. Change your sign then. Nothing beats taco Tuesday followed by taco Wednesday. The tacos are $1 on Wednesday night (with a drink purchase but then again wouldn't be taco night without a few drinks). The tacos come quick and they taste amazing. I ordered 1 of all the available tacos and they tasted great. My favorite tacos were the barbacoa (a must try) and the al pastor with pineapple. Put a little of their red sauce on each of these and you have yourself a flavor explosion! The music is playing, but not loud enough to ruin a conversation. I can rave about this place and the Candela team all day. Over last weekend (8/28/21), I rented the loft event space for my wedding. Not only did Omar and his team answer every question I had, he made sure every single detail was taken care of. Planning a wedding is one of the hardest things I've done but Omar made it so much easier. There was plenty of open communication and lots of checking in. I opted in for the premium 1 hr open bar, assorted appetizers, taco bar, and churro desserts for my guests and everyone couldn't stop raving about the food. Came with some friends on a Friday evening (7 PM) when we were visiting from Houston. Parking: I would highly suggest y'all lyft as parking sucks. There is street parking but other than that good luck. Atmosphere: we went inside the restaurant and it is very small/intimate. They do have tables for large parties. It is very hip and it wasn't too crowded. They did have TVs for anyone interested in watching games and the music was also playing the background Food: the food was AMAZING. We missed happy hour, which it looks like they have a great happy hour, but the food was spot on. I highly recommend the botana plate under the appetizers. It was very filling and you can have it as your entree. Service: they need more training because like everyone else here, the service was pretty bad. We had to keep asking for refills on water, the server messed up several of our orders and we had to grab his attention to correct it. Being from texas we are used to getting free chips and salsa everywhere. Not sure if it's an LA thing but they give you the first basket free and you have to pay if you want more. Overall this place could easily be a five-star restaurant, but the service really sucks and the parking really sucks. read more
