Went to see Barns Courtney on a Sunday night at The Moroccan Lounge. Doors were listed at 9:30 PM, which already feels pretty late for a Sunday. The frustrating part was standing in line for about 40 minutes while the venue itself appeared mostly empty. I kept wondering why they wouldn't just let people inside to grab a drink and sit down instead of waiting outside. That said, once inside, I really liked the venue. It's small and intimate, split into a bar/lounge area and the stage room. The stage is low to the ground, which makes for a very up close experience with the artist. Probably around 150 people there, good sound, and overall a cool place to catch a live show. I'd definitely come back. I'd just love to skip the long wait outside next time. 4 stars read more

I'd heard of the Moroccan Lounge for many years now, and I finally got to experience it myself when I came to see Emeline last month. Overall, I had an extremely positive experience and would love to come back to this venue again. There are quite a few pros of this place: - walking distance from the Metro station - free street parking in the evenings - very friendly and helpful staff members - yummy food options (I only tried the Jamaican beef patty, but it was so delicious!) - beautiful bar/lounge area to hang out before or after the show - super intimate venue where you can get up close and personal with the artists if you're in the first few rows. The only con I experienced was that the main room can get uncomfortably hot and stuffy once the show has started. It honestly felt like there was no air circulation, and I'm not sure if the AC was broken or if they just didn't have it there. Hopefully, they're able to improve that aspect of the venue! If you have the opportunity to visit the Moroccan Lounge, take it! It's a wonderfully intimate atmosphere to enjoy live music from up and coming artists. read more

The "lounge" portion of the Moroccan Lounge is really nice. It feels hip and well maintained. It has good character without feeling pretentious. There are large booths capable of holding large groups and high tables for smaller parties as well as a nice space between seating & the actual bar. I could easily see this being someone's watering hole. The stage area, however? Definitely left something to be desired. Going from the somewhat ornate bar area to the desolate stage area was a jolting experience. I understand that for most of the performances you won't be looking out to the crowd area, but even the stage area is so bland and boring. I wanted something. Some sort of character. Bring in one of the chandeliers from the bar area. Something. It felt just like a black box theatre and it left me disappointed. It had no character. The acts that perform her are smaller and up and coming, but I still feel like they deserve more. There is technically no onsite parking, but if you show up after 6, there is plenty of street parking that's free. If you get their earlier, there are plenty of meters and the cost isn't to high. There's also a light rail that runs right by the venue so you can avoid parking all together and take public transportation. I would certainly come back to the Moroccan Lounge. I just hope that they add some sort of flourish to the stage area. read more

This is a small quaint lounge with a small bar offering beers, wines and various cocktails. The bar service was spot on and the bartender friendly and knowledgeable. The decor and lounge area is inviting and intimate. There was food - small bites - available near the entrance. The concert venue is small and if you don't get there early you are smashed in. Got me a little claustrophobic but I was able to hang outside the doors and still listen but not see the musician. The doors and windows are frosted so you can't see in. I would have liked to see that opened up not only for safety, air circulation but we paid to see the artist. It would have been a better experience if it were opened up. It was an easy walk from China Town and a short uber ride back to dtla. read more

Came for a show. I will say I do agree with a prior reviewer that this was super nice and a more intimate show vibes!! The inside was quite bigger than I thought. They had a bar (didn't drink so I can't say much about the bar). Will say kinda dark for me that I bumped myself into something but my eyes adjusted eventually ahahaha. Of all my life in LA, I am just now hearing about this venue. It's for sure in the cut, make sure to take all your valuables with you! But I had a good time! It's a much more intimate setting that's ideal for a date night or bestie hangout. The bar is cute and we love to see POC bartenders. The drinks were solid but the menu is hard to read. They offer the beer and shot deal, super worth it! My friend and I did a Jack n Coke and Tequila Sprite with a bit of grenadine, yum! Would've never known this existed in little Tokyo. I am in this area often, near the Tokyo plaza. This is a slightly spacious dive bar with a concert venue. There's a third party kitchen at the entrance. Mostly Caribbean and Mexican American dishes. I tried to get the oxtail tacos but kitchen staff were missing ingredients. Opted for decent rosta fries, not spectacular. There's non alcoholic drink options and semi open bar. Restrooms are adjacent bar. Electronic pay most forms accepted. The concert hall is decent and can fit a crowd. The surprise for me is the a/c was frigid. Was not expecting it to work and keep the hall cool under pressure. I'm used to just similar venues out east limited a/c and smothering. Just wear a light jumper/jacket in case your iron is low. All and all, this venue is decent and might have room to dance depending on artist. The sound system is great and even loud performers have sound control. The most legit small venue I've experienced so far. Hope your favorite indie/alternative artist performs here sometimes. read more

Small venue to see upcoming artists! PARKING: SUCKS! There's metered parking all around the area but if you're not there early, you might need to park a few blocks away. Metered parking is free after 6pm on Banning St. FYI -- don't be a dummy like me and DO NOT park behind the Moroccan Lounge Venue, that is NOT public parking. There should be a sign that warns you. VENUE : I saw Amira Elfkey (heavy goth metal, she was amazing to see). The venue is super small, it's all floor. There's merch straight when you walk in. First time at this venue to see the Dandies; I was pleasantly surprised--friendly staff, good bar, and the perfect place to see a band. While it got crowded, everyone was well-behaved and there to just have a good time. Had a great night here seeing the band, Ray & Paul. The sound and room set-up is great. You can watch the band in one room or get drinks in an entirely different room, where it is not super noisy. Upon entering they have a merchandise area, expect to pay a cover if you are going to see live music. Nice place to catch a band. I have been to the Arts District/Little Tokyo area tons of times but did not realize that The Morrocan Lounge was nestled near there. I recently came here for a concert. I took an Uber here, but it looks like there are parking around the venue (it is a little outside of the busier area). The staff were super efficient and nice and I was able to get into the venue with no fuss. Definitely make sure to bring your ID if you are drinking as they check before you go in. Inside, there is a pretty big bar and seating area. It was easy to get drinks. There was also a small food selling area. The food was pretty decent. I was able to hang out by the bar until the concert started. The concert area is standing room only, but felt very small and intimate. I really enjoyed the venue and concert. As another plus, the restrooms very very clean, which was great. LOL. I hope to come back here for another concert. read more

Concert venue experience ** I love the interior of this place and the fact that as you come in there's some slight incense in the air. Inside is cozy and very wine bar vibes. The venue is intimate and small enough that if your small town artist had a concert here you'd definitely get a loot of fan service/interaction. There's seating in the lounge outside and security/workers were all very relaxed. They also provided water. I would come here to chill if there were more music to my taste( or for drinks/tapa). They do sell food that looks more fast food type! But I didn't get any. The only thing is that the projector is a bit broken so the visuals for the artists like their name etc would go on screensaver mode every few minutes. read more

Charging to get in to pay for beer to see small local acts is not a vibe I will be feeling with in the future.

I came here to see a concert by myself on a Sunday evening. The closest parking areas I found were in Little Tokyo, but I chose to park in a garage on 2nd St. and Spring St. I took the Metro A/E line from Historic Broadway Station to Little Tokyo Station. Then, I walked down 1st St. to the Moroccan Lounge. The streets can get dark during a winter night, so take necessary precautions. The most important part of the Moroccan Lounge is that the concert venue easily gets easily crowded due to the small general admission (standing) space. If you leave to go to the bar or restroom, you may lose your spot. If you get too hot, lightheaded, or dizzy due to the standing, I find the bar a good place to rest. On the night I went, I waited for a long time both outside in the line and inside for the artists to get ready. I don't know why the wait took so long, but I'll take note of that experience if I want to go to the Moroccan Lounge again. read more

The service of the lounge was very nice and welcoming, we went for a concert they were hosting and it was an amazing night, the ambiance of the lounge itself is quite nice with a very open air concept at the bar and a separate room for the stage. Great place for a show! Love how the bar has a speakeasy ambience vibe and is separated from the venue room. Allows the guest to enjoy a drink without loud music and then in the venue you can jam out without the clanking and loud sounds of a bar. They have a nice bathroom too! The venue, as it pertains to the music, was awesome. Sound was great, lights were great, stage was great, but the bartender needs to be fired and I've never said that before. She wasn't just bad, she was absolutely terrible! First of all, she acted as if someone was forcing her to work against her will. She had one of the worst attitudes I've ever experienced in customer service. Secondly, she said my drink cost $16, which was a rip off since the pour left a lot to be desired, I handed her a $20 and she gave me $3 back. Huh?? You can't do basic math as a bartender? Also, she said soda water was $4?!?! It's typically free! I really liked the venue otherwise, but she almost ruined the entire experience for me. I will definitely think twice before going here again unless I'm not drinking and don't even want water. Ya'll this place is a vibe. It's this pretty lowkey place and theres a decent amount of free parking (at least around 7). As you enter and scan your ticket, they stamp you're right wrist so you can go in and out as you please. The bar/food area is in a separate room from the performance area and its super chill. The bartenders were pretty nice and kept up with the pace of customers pretty well. And when things slowed down, they made conversation and joked around. My boyfriend ordered a cosmo after getting himself a stone IPA, and the bartender jokingly said "you don't look like the cosmo type" after which my bf pointed at me and the bartender said, "that makes more sense." The drinks were pretty good, a little pricey but honestly not for LA so... what can u do. The stage itself is not all that large. The room holds an audience of maybe 250ish. But regardless of where you stand, theres a pretty good view of the stage. The lighting and sound is great. I went to see Dove Cameron and she and the lighting guy had a really fun thing going, setting the mood for each song perfectly. Overall, it was a great time. read more

No complaints at all here. I drove here from the IE to see one of my favorite bands. It was a Sunday night, so there weren't very many people. Make sure you have the brightness turned up on your phone if you have a ticket to be scanned. They stamp your hand so it's nice that ins and outs are allowed. When I walked in they had a Merch table setup over on the left. From there, you walk into the main restaurant and bar area. The bartender was nice and the Austin Mule I ordered tasted perfect. Really impressed with this place. Performance area, while small (about 250) has excellent sound , lighting and visibility. It's easy to get to and after 6pm parking is ample and free- something practically unheard of in LA. The bar/restaurant area is separate from the performance space and you walk through it as you enter. For LA, drinks are reasonable and beers run from $4-$8. I saw Sam Fender here last night. Excellent show made even more excellent by this venue. Will definitely be looking for bands I like to be playing here in the future. read more
