Food is really great! Fresh and good serving sizes. Ashlin was a very fast and attentive server. Perfect for brunch!

One of the loudest restaurants I have ever been in. Came here for dinner last night with a client. The hostess greeted us and seated us right away at around 730PM on a Wednesday. One of our menus was soaked with water inside the liner and we waited at least 5 mins before being greeted by our server (in all fairness, it may have only seemed like 5 mins because of the noise) He had the poke bowl (which was served on a plate) and a large soda. Our server brought 2 pints of soda and when he mentioned he'd only ordered one, she replied that he ordered a large. Did she not want to have to come back? The second glass was flat by the time he got to it. I had the fried chicken sandwich and a glass of white wine. I don't understand why restaurants insist on using brioche rolls for hot sandwiches. The roll disintegrated 2 bites in, the sandwich completely fell apart, and I had to use my fork to eat the rest. Side of fries was really small...served in a basket that was mostly filled with the liner paper and the fries appeared to be the last of the batch. Just small bits and pieces. I think there were 2 or 3 full sized fries in the whole order. I don't recall if the server checked on us after the runner brought our food, but our table was never bussed, our plates sat dirty, and we had to flag down the hostess to ask for our check. Really disappointing all the way around. Was it terrible? No. Was it good? Not really. Certainly not enough to want to come back. With the arrival of Amazon HQ2, there's a lot of money to be spent in National Landing and PLENTY of dining options. Do better. read more

Best place in the Crystal City / Arlington area, by far! I was recommended this by a coworker recently, and Lindsey took care of us. The service was phenomenal, the food was fantastic, the location and the outdoor patio were perfect for us! More than fair pricing, and delicious! If you're in the area, definitely check it out, and ask for Lindsey! read more

Great place to go in the neighborhood and always full of life. Seems to have something for everyone whether it's delicious cocktails or tasty food. Everything that comes out is always consistent and fresh. Do yourself a favor and give this place a try, if you haven't already. This is the place to go read more

Service! These five stars are for Lindsay our server! The food was 4-star as they did not have drip coffee available for brunch nor did they have alternative milk options. But Lindsay was great and the food was very good. That Monkey Bread is delicious!!!! read more

Thanks to the amazing service by Katrina! Turned a great night with friends into an even better evening. Great food, great drinks! This spot doesn't disappoint! read more

Avoid like the plague. A restaurant has 3 components Atmosphere, Service and Food. They fail all 3. Music is very loud for a dinner restaurant felt like a club. Food was so so Ribeye was ok Prime rib dip was tasteless and had been sitting around. Service was BRUTAL.. "Ash" was slow inattentive and uncompassionate. In an hour we saw her 2x I actually had to go to her to get her to bring check. Never checked to see how the food was not that I blame her because it was awful. Then after not receiving a small tip she went right to her manager and complained about us. Only bright spot was the manager Tony who was very willing to comp which we didn't take because that wasn't our intent. We live in the neighborhood and we will never go back. I see the glowing reviews on here and they must be tourist because this place does not meet the DC standard. read more

A great meal with great service. Ashlyn was attentive and friendly and rocked it. A santa cup drink sealed the evening!!!! Yay Ash!!!!

Welcome to the neighborhood! We have been wanting to try this new addition to the Amazon HQ2 complex. The atmosphere is airy and open, with 2 walls of glass, high ceilings and a good sized bar in the middle. Like many other reviewers noted, with all the hard surfaces the volume can get amped up. They probably could use some sort of sound dampening in the big blank wall over the open kitchen. It looks like the entire window wall can open up to the patio where they have created a nice sense of place. Looking forward to sitting outside when it's not 20 degrees out! Service was attentive from the host to the server. We enjoyed their restaurant week offering. The nacho serving was huge and they were tasty. The Nashville hot chickens were 2 tenders. Tasty but not up to our Hangry Joes benchmark. The crispy Brussels were a decent sized portion and on par with most restaurant offerings. Lunch entrees included the seafood Diablo: 4 mussels, several shrimp and a mound of pasta. Tasty, but we all joked it was not Diablo, many at best mono-able, but really there was "no ablo" there wasn't even a hint of fire. Probably just Better to have been called pasta with seafood. The impossible kebab was a surprising hit and a decent sized portion. Dessert options included tiramisu or bread pudding . Both were adequate but not show stoppers . All in all a nice place we look forward to returning to so we can try other menu options. If they have happy hour specials in the spring we'd walk over and give it a go. It felt like this place was established longer than it has been here and that an experienced grown-up was running the joint- unlike so many other entries lately. We wish them well! Thanks for coming to the neighborhood! read more

Service takes forever. Sat down and people after me got service. :( took a long time to get drink (sweet tea).

Places has a cool vibe. Nice place to grab a drink. I didn't eat there but dishes looked good and decent portions.

I'm giving 5 stars because the staff are attentive, happy and very accommodating! Porsche was so sweet and brought everything out quickly! She made sure we had water, drinks, and food. The restaurant itself and the patio are beautiful. The food however, needs a little work. We went for brunch and the cappuccino tasted off. The French toast was delicious but a little much, by that I mean I felt like the Frosted Flake crust kept the toast from cooking thoroughly because it was a little gooey. I also had to ask for more syrup, I think it'd be better if it just came on the side anyway. The Maryland crab eggs Benedict my husband got was a little dry and we should have asked for more hollandaise sauce. I would go back but I'd probably try something else! read more

This place is AMAZING! Went here for my birthday and the food is always delicious! The staff is super friendly and attentive. The restaurant itself is stunning! Every attention to detail is perfect! Definitely will be coming back! read more

Makers Union - American Near Me - Arlington, Virginia

This restaurant was perfect for after work eats. I got the cheeseburger and the crab soup. Both were so good. The service was a tad slow but that was because they were really busy. Loved the vibe of the restaurant. read more

We went twice in two days for lunch and had a wonderful experience, mostly due to the fantastic service by Lindsey. He was absolutely great! There was a minor issue on our first visit and Lindsey was assigned to our table and took care of us. The food was delicious and and when we returned the second day for lunch, we got Lindsey once again and were thrilled to see him as he was friendly, efficient, and just a terrific server. The Makers IPA was great and the burger outstanding! Go there. Ask for Lindsey's section if you can! read more

Firstly I want to start off saying that my server Jasmine gave me immaculate customer service!!! I usually order my food online, but I decided to come in person this time. And she made my experience well worth it!! Her attentiveness to making sure that me and my table was good making sure that my food was hot and prepared overall best experience I've ever had at this restaurant. The overall atmosphere and ambience was great as well 10 out of 10. read more

I'd heard some positive buzz about this spot and was in the area after a show at the Folger Shakespeare Theater. So I decided to stop by and see for myself. Glad I did. I was greeted by the floor manager / host after I stepped inside to take in the indoor/outdoor layout. I decided to take a seat at the island bar surrounded by tables and chairs. The bar tenders and support staff were attentive, taking my order and checking on me. Even had a couple of which chats to get the history of the spot and info about their happy hour crowds during the week. So far so good. I ordered the Brussels sprouts I'd heard about. They were delicious and I eagerly ate the whole bowl probably sized for two. I didn't see the crab cake sandwich on the menu like the picture I saw online but per another recommendation set out to order the chicken sandwich. Well, there was a mixup and the bar tender ordered the chicken fingers instead. When they arrived I was actually glad for the change having already eaten half the Brussels sprouts. Fingers were just ok but a good match with the sprouts. Their house Malbec was good but the finish was the hyped tiramisu. It was delicious. So the Brussels sprouts and tiramisu are definitely going to see me again. However, the fantastic recorded house music included Jimi Hendrix, the Doors, and Midnight Rider by the Allman Brothers! I'm hooked! read more

Hope was a 10/10 sever. Appetizer's are really good, entree's not as good as appetizers, but a good spot

Had high hopes for the restaurant. Being local to the Arlington location my wife and I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately we did not get to experience any service after 15 minutes of being seated we received nothing, glass of water acknowledgement of being at the table nothing. Again high hopes but failed to deliver on any level. read more

The ambience was cool and the food was good. The service...left a lot to be desired. I got the Makers Mac & Cheese side) it was very yummy). They charged me $15 for the added crab, it should have only been an additional $8. After not seeing our server since he dropped off the food, I finally got his attention and got him to bring the bill. When I realized I was overcharged the manager said I wasn't. When I went and found him and explained to him directly what happened, I got the difference refunded; and he said he'd let his partner know they had been overcharging! But I didn't get the voided receipt and when I requested a receipt on the updated charge, I didn't get that either. Also, I got a bad feeling about the service as soon as I walked in. The hostess seemed irritated that I asked about happy hour. It was ending in 12 minutes and she basically stopped talking to me when I asked her if it was still happy hour. We decided we didn't want happy hour so the hostess sat us at our seats. There was only one menu left, she didn't even apologize or say she could get another one. She just gave the one menu and was on her way. read more

This place was amazing. And the smoked bourbon was delicious, as well as the food. Must try while visiting the area. read more

Solid food, lively atmosphere and great service by Lucas and Britney. I'll go back to Makers the next time I travel into Arlington for work.

The food was delicious and the service was even better. Everything came out in a reasonable time and I will definitely be visiting again.

Sat at the bar late one night- received excellent service from the bartender! Found out that the patio is dog friendly- so you know we will be back. I highly recommend the Brussels sprouts! read more

Service was atrocious. We sat for almost 10 minutes and no one even came to our table for drinks. Disappointed and will not return.

I came in tonight for a work event. We had Jasmine as our server. She was amazing! She kept our drinks refilled, kept us informed about the food status and made great recommendations. The crab cake was amazing and she suggested the maple old fashioned and even smoked it which added a great flavor. The entire atmosphere was a great way to end the work day. read more

I stopped in for a a quick bite in a tight crunch for time. Katrina was an amazing server. She suggested some local favorites and I was not disappointed. Who knew makers union would have the best empanadas in Virginia?! She also closed me out quickly so I could be on my way. Thank you Katrina (I hope I spelled that correctly) from gate 4 at DCA. Thanks to you, I'm full, on time for my flight and longing to return to Virginia! read more

Came here to escape the rain and have a drink. Never again! $50 for 2 glasses of wine and a beer! What?! I asked for a Chardonnay and the server brought me the most expensive one on the menu. $16 for a very small pour. No way I am ever coming back. read more

Best experience I could possibly ask for, was met by the hostess with a smile and was sat an appropriate amount of time with very little wait. Our server was so sweet and kind, accommodated our every need from start to finish. Food was amazing, pack with flavor and at a reasonable price. Atmosphere was a 10 out of 10, with the open concept of the restaurant making it the perfect place for lunch. Will definitely come back again. read more
