Straight down the middle. No big swing. No real miss. It had that familiar lobby-restaurant comfort where you know exactly what you are getting before it hits the table. Solid enough for hunger. Not enough for a speech. Background character food with main-character service nearby. The fries were ehhh. Warm filler energy. They did not ruin anything. They also did not bring much to the table. Needed more crisp. More salt. More reason. Fries should have a little attitude. These were just present. The coffee save was the moment. They ran out of cold brew and the bartender still found a way. I was at the Renaissance hotel for a conference and went to Socci with about 6 other colleagues to avoid the hot temps. We didn't have a lunch reservation but they were able to easily accommodate us. It's an odd layout but they had a tall table with high chairs. Btw, have a limited lunch menu but the choices had variety. Two others and myself ordered the linguini with shrimp. The size of the shrimp was large and a mouthful. Linguini was cooked perfectly. Seasoning for the smooth sauce appropriate with garlic, tomato, white wine and butter, aka yum yum. The breakfast buffet was okay overall. The service was good, and the manager was friendly and attentive, which I appreciated. There are just a few details that, if improved, would make the experience feel like it was worth the $28.00 price. The fruit was difficult to reach because the glass barrier made it difficult to get to the back row, and there was only one pair of tongs for the fruit The toaster also needed attention--one of the handles was broken, and it didn't toast very well. The omelet station could be improved with a sign letting guests know that made-to-order omelets are available, along with a list of the ingredients or toppings they can choose from. Without any signage, it was easy to miss. The jam selection also gave the impression that it was just made up of leftovers. There were mostly jars of grape jam and only a couple of marmalade jars, which didn't feel very thoughtfully presented. We tried the following menu items: -Penne Bolognese (4/5). -Spaghetti Carbonara (4/5). -Gala Apple and Gorgonzola salad (4.5/5). -Happy Hour chicken wings. I ordered the burrata and it did not disappoint. There is only one burrata I have had that was better than this one and it is in CT. The bed of tomatoes and stuff it sits in is so savory, the bread not too hard where you have crumbs all over the place but also not too soft! Love love! It's a hotel bar/restaurant, the servers were nice and offered suggestions not just to me but people around me when they were deciding between things. I also want to note that I love they have and offer "half portions" of some their entrees for half the cost. Honestly perfect for a hotel guest. Oh the meatballs!!!! Absolutely delicious!!!! Socci was located within my hotel, so it was the natural choice for a late night dinner. There are not many dinner spots within walking distance. I came down in a tshirt and shorts and this was definitely considered underdressed by the staff. They seated me on the outskirts of the dining area at a low-top table. The table was quite uncomfortable as your knees did not go under the table top and instead sat level. I had the Gala Apple and Gorgonzola Salad ($14) with added Chicken ($8) and the Strawberry Shortcake ($9). All of the food was quite good, especially the Strawberry Shortcake. Servings were just right (though the Shortcake is probably intended to be shared by two or three). That said, the treatment of the staff who took my order and rushed me to be done, the terrible prices on the rest of the menu (crab cakes were listed at $52 which feels like highway robbery when compared to my salad), and the small size of other, more expensive dishes I watched walk past me left me with a bit of a sour taste. read more

Visited SOCCi twice during my stay in the area, once at the bar and once for dinner. The restaurant was not packed, so we were seated immediately both times. ATMOSPHERE: Mix between a hip dive bar and a classy restaurant, not landing exactly either of the two. They have these changing overhead lights that felt distracting during dinner and really more appropriate for the bar alone. Also, I didn't see any restaurant parking, and the parking at the hotel is incredibly expensive. FOOD/DRINKS: I ordered the Linguini Carbonara. The pasta was pretty good. The sauce tased like a hybrid between garlic alfredo and a true carbonara, but still tasted flavorful and rich. I thought I wouldn't like large pieces of bacon in the pasta, but they were soft and not chewy. The drinks were a let down. I got an old fashioned and a "Blood of the Moon" (fruit cocktail) and both were just "meh." PRICE/VALUE: They have a small side plate size and an entree size of each plate. The small size plates my friends got were small and are overpriced in my opinion. The entree plates were more reasonable in proportions. Their drinks are a bit pricy in my opinion and don't deliver for how much they cost. SERVICE: Everyone was kind here. The bartenders and servers were attentive and it didn't take long to put in an order and get our food/drinks. Overall, you are likely headed to this place since it's close to where you are staying, and while convenient, there may be better options in the area. I've been side eyeing this place for a while, waiting and wondering if I should give them a try and bless God, THE FOOD IS GOOD!! lol!! The night I went, the restaurant was buzzing, full of patrons and there was a trumpet player soothing us with his beautiful sounds! Let me get to this food though... I love spaghetti, I kinda refuse to eat other people's versions so this is why it took me a while to get over here and try the place out. The spaghetti and meatballs come separately and I truly understand why and let me also say that I won't mind buying them that way in the future. The food and service was great. I had a delicious bread pudding that is a must try. Coming from SF, CA, I sort of know my way around food and was very impressed with the staff, dishes and ambiance. Especially for a Renaissance. I probably would only get a few things on the menu being that it's Italian themed. After looking over the menu, I decided on ordering a small house salad and their sausage pizza. Both items tasted good, but were pretty dang salty. The pizza was okay, but boy was it paper thin! It wasn't even strong enough to hold the ground sausage. One thing that detracted from the dining experience was that the ceiling lights kept changing between red, white, and blue. Meh! I ate here because some of the food pictures looked good. Well that must have been a long, long time ago. The spaghetti tasted like a 12 year old tried their first attempt to make pasta. It was lukewarm, tasteless and overcooked. I wanted the pasta carbonara from the pictures, but the waiter says they permanently removed it from the menu. Maybe it was too complicated for their inexperienced, mediocre kitchen staff. The wait staff was a total of one person. There was nothing special about it but it came out really fast and the bread was toasted just enough and had the right amount of butter. I can't even begin to tell you how good this burger was. The bun was soft and toasted, the lettuce tomato and onions were not wilted at all and looked fresh too! Although I ordered the burger medium and it came out medium-well, it was delicious. The service and ambience was wonderful as well! The steak was alright, it wasn't as it wasn't as tender as I would like for a medium rare, but it was just okay. It's hotel food, but I would say I've had better hotel food elsewhere. The food wasn't terrible, but it wasn't really great. When you hear of an amazing place, first place you don't think of is of hotel food. And this would be one of those places. I had a couple of their appetizers as well, but there isn't anything that I would have said was worth it. So overall, I would say that if you come here, by no means it's bad. But at the same time, don't expect the world or have an absolutely amazing food. The food is pricey, and I would rather spend it elsewhere. Staying at the Renaissance and our group of 3 decided to have dinner at SOCCi instead of going out. First off: lighting! It's off, it changes color from red to blue to all shades in the rainbow. You can't get a clear view of your dinner, it's off-putting and sensory overwhelming. There were 6 total people in the restaurant and we waited at least 5 min to be acknowledged and to be seated. We ordered a bottle of wine and waited 10 minutes to get it to the table. By this point we were STARVING, we had not had lunch and dinner was looked forward to! We scrolled through the menu and ordered some fries as appetizer and they were delicious! By the time our food came, we began to eat and all 3 of us just looked at each other and said "salt!" At the same time. I am not exaggerating when I say it tasted as if the food had been seasoned with salt 5-10 times over! The protein, the sauce, the pasta, was EXTREMELY salty. We did not eat the food. The waitress quickly came to pick up the full plates and never once asked how the food was or why we didn't touch it. The bill was outrageous! It is now 3 hours after dinner and one of my colleagues has food poisoning (she had the seafood pasta) and all of us have a stomach ache. Please read other reviews about sodium overload. We ate here twice. Decided to eat dinner here first because we had just flown in, unpacked and were hungry! We were seated promptly but it kind of started going downhill from there. We asked the server to give us a couple minutes to look over the menu more, but after 5 minutes passed by, he was nowhere to be found. 5 turned into 10 and we eventually flagged someone else down to take our order. Our original server never came to check on us again. To top that off, the lights started changing colors at some point and it was super annoying throughout the meal. I think it would have been fine if it stayed one color, but it changed colors too quickly and it made me feel dizzy. The waiter was amazing and his customer service was top notch. I started with the burrata (chef's kiss) and my mom started with the crab cake appetizer ( to say she loved it is an understatement). If I could give this place 0 stars I would. So we were staying at the hotel and decided to go down to get dessert or a drink. Upon reviewing the menu I decided on the bread pudding. The description says the bread pudding has vanilla sauce and berries. No asterisk next to it or anything. My bread pudding comes out and it looks like streusel on top. I'm thinking ok this is different but I love bread pudding so I was eager to try it. I cut it and took one bite and instantly could tell it had ground walnuts. I have a tree nut sensitivity so I avoid them. I spit the piece out and called the waitress over and ask her if this was nuts on here because it isn't listed on the menu.. she states she doesn't know..she goes to the back to find out. My mouth instantly starts flaring up so I already have my answer. The chef comes to the line...not to my table to the line area like where they set the prepared plates and Says oh yeah those are nuts we make them all with nuts. Nowhere on the menu are nuts listed. They all apologized and offered me something else...I refused but they kept insisting..the chef said I will bring you chocolate cake will that be ok can you way chocolate...I tell her yes..meanwhile the waitress is checking on me and I show her how my mouth is flared up so she brings me a bottle of Perrier saying it will help. The chocolate cake comes I do not want it my mouth hurts..I ask for a box and my receipt because I had a drink and my sister & mom ordered things...they bring the check and charged me for the dessert. I tell the waitress I am not paying for that dessert. She tried to say she'll take half off but I have the chocolate cake...I told her I didn't want the cake I told you all no but yall insisted so she ended up taking the dessert off. This could've been so much worse. What if my reaction was anaphylaxis...what if I had my kid who is allergic to tree nuts and I gave them a bite. They know better and they know if something contains nuts it should be listed. The atmosphere of fhe restaurant was ok. The have bright red and blue lights that change back and forth..we were there on a Friday Night around 9 Wasn't too busy but steady customers coming to the bar and there was only 1 waitress. The whole negligence thing threw me off so if you go here and have food sensitivities ask.
