Coconut quinoa porridge
Andrew P.

Oh. I was in the area for a convention, and wow have I been depriving myself! There's one right in Silver Spring... I need to visit ASAP. I went in the morning for breakfast and it was mostly empty. There's a full bar in the middle and they had some great R&B tunes playing. They asked if I wanted to do to-go or dine in, and when I said the latter, they led me to a table I could sit at. I wanted something hearty, and the coconut quinoa porridge immediately caught my attention. I decided to get vegan sausage and beignets too, because why not? The hot chocolate was a pleasant surprise too with the nutmeg on top of the whipped cream... YUM. I made the right choice with all of my food picks -- the porridge had so much amazing fruit and pistachios on top, and it was just so delicious. Apparently they have happy hour too, but I need to visit the Silver Spring location that's close to home. I was thoroughly impressed.

This location is a great local spot, uniquely built. It has a chill but classy atmosphere, and the staff is friendly, service is great! It's a good place to go with a group or on your own. The drink menu is interesting and delicious no matter what time of day, and each coffee beverage I've had has been enjoyable. I've been here multiple times for brunch/lunch. To me, it's been hit or miss depending on the dish, and it seems that it's only due to some items not being quite seasoned enough. Everything else about this place is a positive. I really do like this place, and would like to try dinner at some point, just wish my experience with the food was a little more consistent.

Birthday Brunch Beverage Options

In February, our family hosted an absolutely brilliant birthday brunch for 22 "foodie" family and friends at Arlington's Social All Day, sight unseen as it was planned from our home in San Francisco. We were all delighted with the quality of the food, extensive selection of beverages, impeccable servers and attentive management, and we loved the sparkling clean and comfortable space. Co-owner/manager Sean was knowledgeable, responsive by phone, email or text, and provided invaluable options and menu suggestions. He curated a special menu for us with something for everyone, which he printed for each place setting with the name of the birthday boy prominently featured. For a shared starter, the chef's beautiful presentation of fresh fruit boards included uncommon-for-winter fruit such as dragon fruit, mango slices and various sweet berries. We also shared platters of freshly shucked local oysters on ice and bacon deviled eggs, while enjoying rounds of café lattes, freshly squeezed fruit juices, pitchers of mimosas and brunch cocktails, all before selecting our entree choices. The birthday "cake" - bread pudding slices with creme fraiche - concluded the party leaving a touch of sweetness on our palates. Our skilled and infinitely patient server, Winter, and her efficient team, couldn't have been nicer, and they made sure that we all had plenty to eat, drink and even boxed up a few leftovers. The bright, open air ambience of Social All Day's glass walled space, and the casual, unhurried atmosphere really contributed to the warm vibe of our party, and the location was very convenient to our hotel. When next in the DMV area, we look forward to visiting Social All Day again, for lunch, dinner or drinks, as we loved every aspect of our recent Arlington experience and are so grateful to Sean and Winter for making it happen so smoothly.

Wonderful meal at Kaldi's Social House. I met two co-workers for dinner at Kaldi's. We were quickly seated and the server brought menus and went over some of the beverage offerings that evening. We put in drink orders along with two apps--the crispy Brussels sprouts, Charred Spanish Octopus and Raspberry Point Oysters. The octopus was meaty, seasoned well and charred to perfection. The oysters were great with a homemade cocktail sauce. After making our way through the apps, we ordered entrees. I chose the Miso Glazed Halibut and it was unbelievable! It was well plated and served over bok choy and drizzled with a brown butter sake sauce. For dessert, we shared the peach crème brûlée and bread pudding. It was so good, I ordered take away the next night and enjoyed the clam linguini.

We went on a Monday evening, but even still, I was surprised that Kaldi's Social House wasn't busier! The service was great, and our server noticed that I wasn't drinking alcohol & asked if I'd prefer a mocktail. I was so grateful, and the drink the bartender came up with was so good!! The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was so cool. This is a great spot for a date night or dinner & drinks with friends!

Went to check out the new Kaldi's in Crystal City and wow a great time! I decided to spend the work day there. In the morning I grabbed a delicious iced latte and the coconut quinoa porridge and it was absolutely delicious! Prepared perfectly and neither was too sweet and yet still very filling and fresh! They had a great musical selection all throughout the day! They opened up the sliding doors as the day went on and what a wonderful experience, it added to an already great ambience! I was told they have a a green wall that I believe they were setting up! I eventually got a drink during happy hour and the seasonal burrata and both were very delicious as well! The service was very friendly and attentive without being over bearing especially for working there all day! They do only have one outlet if you plan to work there for the day but if you have a long lasting battery then this is the place for you! I look forward to working here more and checking it out for dinner

Haven't gone to their original location in Clarendon, this is a very different vibe, but not in a bad way! This location feels a lot more like a sit down restaurant rather than a place people go work and study. There were still a handful of people working and just drinking coffee with their computers out. They have a much more comprehensive menu at this location and a full bar service. The location is very interesting, it's basically a full window 360 building so you get a lot of nice natural light. I got there arugula salad with apples and squash, and it was delicious, and I was able to add their fried chicken, which was really good. A big piece of fried chicken and it was cooked and seasoned perfectly. It doesn't say specifically on the menu that you can add their fried chicken to their salads, but they were able to accommodate us! The serving was plenty big, we got a side of their breakfast potatoes but really didn't need them, we took most of them to go for later. This is a good place for a step up from a casual date spot that isn't too fancy or just a place to get a nice lunch. It wasn't super crowded on a Wednesday during lunch so it was easy to immediately get a table and order.

We love the Clarendon location (more of a coffee shop) but the National Landing location might be my favorite. It gives more of a hip restaurant atmosphere. The food is tasty (brunch both visits), the music selection is hip and fun and the service is excellent! This will be on our Sunday brunch list!!! (fyi if you have a coconut allergy avoid the granola)

Amazing experience dinner last night at Kaldi-kudos to this creative chef and the entire Kaldi team for this special treat! Everything was delicious and the care that went into every detail, from the pairings to the presentation, highlighted the talent and skill of this team. Can't wait to see what they come up with next!

Never again, I should've went to the 10th street one but atp I'm over it all together. The food was horrible!!! & the bartender who worked this morning 3/19/25 was super snotty and unpleasant, he heard me complain about how cold it was, my server also agreed but he decided it was a bright idea to open BOTH patio doors. I got up and left after mentioning while closing out how unprofessional I thought it was but I was left ignored. I only gave two stars for my server (she was new, but nice), and my smoothie.

Casual bar with great bartenders. Highly recommend the lemon drop martini and the dirty martini with blue cheese, stuffed olives.

The atmosphere is wonderful. Really hip with a great bar. I met a group of women who I hadn't seen for over 20 years and we had such a wonderful time being able to talk yet. Still having the music in the background. The food was incredible. I highly recommend the trout. And I also had a dirty martini that was out of this world! Blue cheese, stuffed olives are a must. This is a great spot if you want a nice intimate dinner with solid, good food and great service. Melvin is wonderful!

Dan G.

Already been here three times since they opened earlier this month and the food has been consistently amazing! It can get a bit pricey but that is due to the high quality of their dishes. So far I have had the trout for dinner, lox and eggs for brunch and chicken salad for a takeout lunch during work hours (they are on the Toast app already!). I live across the street so I'm sure I will be back often. Finally, a fancy place to enjoy on my block!!

At first, you'll see what looks like just a pizza shop -- but if you head in and either use the side door or walk through and climb a set of stairs, you'll find the speakeasy upstairs. Very cool vibe: dark, cozy, and date-night ready. Drinks: 4/5 I ordered their take on an Old Fashioned, and it was definitely the highlight of the night but sweeter than I would have liked. They served it over a stamped solid block of ice (a small detail I ). My friend was abstaining from alcohol that night and asked for a non-alcoholic cocktail. To our surprise, they didn't just hand her a lemonade like most places -- they actually made her a crafted virgin drink, which she loved. Food: 3/5 We ordered fries and a slice of pepperoni pizza. The fries turned out to be waffle fries (not mentioned on the menu) and were overly crispy, so not really our favorite. The pizza was fine -- clearly sourced from the shop downstairs -- but it leaned oily and didn't really wow us. Service: 5/5 Pretty standard -- nothing over the top, but not neglectful either. Drinks came out reasonably fast, food followed, and we were checked on enough without it feeling pushy. Vibes: 4/5 The speakeasy itself is definitely the selling point. Dark, intimate, and stylish -- you feel like you've found a little hidden spot. All in all, the cocktails are the reason to come, especially if you're into whiskey. The food was forgettable, but it's convenient that you can order pizza upstairs. We spent about $30-40 for drinks and snacks, which isn't shocking for Old Town. Would I go back? Maybe if I was already in the area, but for a dedicated whiskey night, I'd probably head somewhere else.

We were seated inside, which had a decent amount of seating. I thought the restaurant was cute, and it had a nice ambience. We ordered several dishes, starting with the cajun crawfish Mac & cheese, crab stuffed oysters, and charred spring vegetables. All 3 starters were delicious, with my favorite being the crab stuffed oysters. The Mac & cheese was a close second - it was nicely seasoned and perfectly au dente. The vegetables were also very good, and the pita it came with was great. On the breakfast menu, we ordered the chicken and waffles and shrimp and grits. Both were very good. I haven't had many chicken and waffles, but the chicken was tasty with the hot honey. The shrimp and grits was very flavorful. If I had to pick one though, I would probably pick the shrimp and grits. We walked in and were blessed to immediately get a table despite being told it may be an hour wait on the phone. We received a menu and ordered the breakfast burrito and the biscuits and gravy. Our food came extremely fast which surprised me and makes me wonder how much is prepped ahead. My friend received the burrito and it was very greasy so she requested to order something else. My biscuits and gravy were yummy. The eggs were cooked well and the fried chicken was the star of the show. Easily this was some of the best chicken I have had in a while. I overall enjoyed my meal but I wish there was way more gravy as there was only a little bit layered on top of the 2 biscuits. My friend was given a menu to order something else and this menu was different and had dinner options. It was 4:30 when we came and not more than 15 minutes of difference before receiving a menu the second time so we were surprised but eager to look. My friend ordered the half chicken which came with collard greens and grits. Since there was a different menu I wasn't aware of I wanted to order something additional and opted for saving the brunch meal I ordered for breakfast tomorrow. I loveeee scallops so when I seen them on the menu especially over grits I had to order it. The scallops were cooked wonderfully and I loved the composition of the dish with the creamy grits and the acid from the tomatoes and the smokiness of the sauce and grits. My friend loved the half chicken and after trying it myself we both agreed Matt and Tony's knows how to cook chicken well. The greens had nice flavor but were a little dry and needed some broth/juice from cooking. Again the grits were delicious and creamy with a bit of smoky flavor. I also had the Peso Cocktail which was sweet with a nice kick. Overall I enjoyed this restaurant and would come again and absolute what I ordered again as well. Coming here next time will be hard cause I'm definitely going to be battling between wanting what I already had and trying something new.
