Weird alien like drink

There was a weird and awfully looking drink under our table. Totally off putting. There was also hair in the cookies. Also the queso was horrible. Like I'm sorry I didn't order a bean lemonade am I right fellow moms. Sincerely, rattafinger

Today's episode of eating my way through Arlington - after work edition Chev Mex was the pick for happy hour, and it was the right call. Ten of us rolled in after work and managed to feed everyone - drinks included - for under $250, which is impressive. We went full family style, with the table covered in tacos, shareable apps, and plenty of plates to pass around. I'll admit, I was a little hungry, so I started digging in before I took the pictures - funny, judge me if you want. Service started a little slow, but once it found its rhythm, the staff kept us well-supplied. The vibe was relaxed but lively enough to shake off the office day. Plenty of room to talk, laugh, and eat without feeling rushed. I eat. I judge. The fork stops with me

While walking the freezing cold streets of Pentagon City, I passed by this place with my family. I suggested we get out of the cold for a few. The place is enormous and didn't have too many people here yet which was perfect. We got here right in time for happy hour with ten minutes before it started. I got my family and I each a margarita and if we didn't already have lunch, we would've probably done their happy hour. They had a decent happy hour menu for food and drinks overall.

We stopped by Chevys because it brought back memories of when it was the go to spot and the kids loved getting fresh tortillas from the tortilla machine. Sadly, the machine is gone but now they make them by hand. We arrived about an hour before closing and sat in the bar area since three busloads of young people had just arrived for what looked like buffet style dining. Our waiter was extremely helpful as I ordered the mixed grill (my Chevy's favorite). I joked that I like it super spicy and he mentioned they could roast jalapeno peppers on the side so I added them. When my grill arrived, the waiter set it on fire for a great presentation. Once the flames died down, I dug in and found the jalapenos were extra spicy. I loved it! I took home a whole and a quarter portion of leftovers and enjoyed them for dinner the next day. Happy hour was also available making it all a great experience.

CHICKEN QUESADILLA

We love Chevys and go here for happy hour pretty often. My go to order is the births tacos for $8. It comes with 3 tacos and the flavor is amazing for a great price point. I also get the carne asada fries which is also $8 and I usually have some leftover to take home. We share the chicken quesadillas which come in 4 and is plenty for dinner for two of us. Drinks are $4 (rail) and $6 for slightly fancier cocktails. I can't recommend this place enough since the food and service is amazing and the ambience is great too with music. They also have sports playing on their TVs so it's nice to watch sports sometimes while having dinner

Been a long time since I've been to Chevys after moving away from the DMV area. Place was pretty packed. unfortunately the only thing that was good was the appetizers. The main dishes lacked flavor. This place used to be pretty good if I'm remembering correctly. Hopefully they just had a bad day.

Went for an office holiday lunch with a group of 13 on a Tuesday and it worked out great! There was plenty of space for us and still a lot of available space. Great place for large groups! We had two servers for our table who were very attentive which helped keep things moving. No one complained about their food and those right around me are every bit on their plates. We started with nachos and two Fresh Mex sampler that was good. I had a spicy pineapple margarita that was perfect and the pick two: pork tamale and beef birria taco that had a little kick. Food was standard, nothing wrong with it but nothing extra special.

We were so excited to have Chevy's because all of the locations in our hometown closed over a decade ago. The waitress was very knowledgeable about gluten free and cross contamination, which we greatly appreciated since everyone in my party is GF. They changed the chips and they are not as good.

Came here for our 8th grade trip and this staff HANDLED IT! We had almost 200 guests! So well organized from beginning to end and the food was good too! Definitely suggest this spot, even if you have a large group for a dinner! Staff even played games with our kids. Will return when in town.

Always courteous service and not too crowded nor loud despite being in a prime location. The management and wait staff are all well trained and friendly. The food is occasionally borderline disappointing, but most dishes are average to slightly above average; and I would generally say, as someone who orders at least 5 but up to 10 dishes whenever I go, at least 1 or 2 really hit. Why do I order so many? Because the 3 - 9pm daily Happy Hour has some great deals! Further yet, they have an internal rewards/birthday system; and are on InKind as well. InKind is a very useful value-added application that I am happy to answer any questions about in private message exchange. Crab and shrimp enchiladas are the best non-Happy Hour menu item to order, I'd wager. And the signature Chevys corncakes that come along with most entrees are always a great albeit way too small delight. I think if the restaurant downsized their overhead space, they may be able to focus a little more on food quality and experimenting with new products. From my estimation, the brand and offerings are solid but stale, and need to improve upon its core to attract new clientele. It is an unassuming and perhaps not widely known brand in a space which is increasingly less visible and traversed. This is one of my go-to places whenever I stop by the area.

Any free parking at your location?

There is parking in the mall that costs $6 per hour if I remember correctly but if you go to Chevy's they will validate your ticket for at least one hour (so it's free if you stay one hour, but longer than that and you'll pay)

How does Chevy's Fresh Mex handle Gluten Free/Dairy Free guests? Will be dining there soon and wondering what options are available. Thanks ~

Hi Deb, I am sorry to share we do not have an allergen-free environment or gluten-free menu. We will do our best to accommodate you and your guests, just a precaution that…

When we made the reservation in advance, we called to ask if happy hour was everywhere or just at the bar; they said everywhere, so we booked a table. Plot twist, it's only at the bar / downstairs :))) We arrived 15 minutes early, so while they got our table ready, we ordered at the bar. 5 stars for the bartender. If I could review her, the host, and the happy hour prices in isolation, I would! They moved us upstairs, we sat down, and immediately saw the menus were different. We asked the gentleman bringing waters about happy hour and he sent the waiter over. The waiter, with about 2% helpfulness, shared that happy hour is only downstairs. I mentioned that we had called in advance to ask. We asked if it would be possible to have that menu or perhaps move. The conversation felt like pulling teeth. He said, with much dismissiveness, it was up to the host downstairs to move and if they had availability and left. (Fair, we move, he doesn't get his tip. An alternative? Give us the happy hour menu, still get your tip. Better yet, just be slightly helpful?) The host downstairs found us a table but shared it was booked at 6:15 so we needed to be in and out. It was no problem because we had arrived before 5 (early, remember?). Although, it took 15 minutes (I timed it!) for anyone to come bring waters or address us as their table. A little hard to operate with urgency when no one takes your order!! I got up, told the host stand, and they sent a server over, and he proceeded to come back all of three times. We also had to flag him down to get our check, while we sat with empty waters that were never once refilled. We had pizza, cod sliders, and half orders of aglio e olio pasta. The cod sliders were more breadding than fish, but the flavor was decent. The pasta was delicious. No five star Italian meal, but it hit the spot and the portion was plentiful. I didn't try the pizza but it was 12 inches, piping hot, and the two eating it couldn't finish it. The food came out quickly and hot. I think we spent under or just about $100 for four folks to have dinner + drinks, so the prices are really solid. Perhaps you get what you pay for though? Both of our male servers seemed annoyed to be dealing with us and mostly unhelpful. Noteworthy mention: there was a female server who was kind enough to bring us a brown paper bag for our to go box. She was running around and her tables seemed well cared for. Disappointed in my experience and the customer service.

That thoughtfulness is one of the many reasons I was excited to try it. When we arrived, I was initially concerned after learning that the "G" on the menu indicated dishes **containing** gluten rather than being gluten-free. Since many menu items were marked with a "G," I worried my options would be very limited, especially for the unlimited brunch experience. Thankfully, our server, Emma, immediately put me at ease. She brought me the food allergy menu, answered my questions with patience, and made sure I understood what was safe for me to enjoy. While my husband and I were deciding whether to stay, the manager, Antonio, came to our table after Emma shared my dietary concerns. His kindness completely changed the experience. He took the time to explain my options, offered to have the kitchen modify several dishes, and reassured me that their goal was for me to feel safe and enjoy my meal. Thanks to Emma and Antonio, what started with uncertainty became one of the most enjoyable brunch experiences I've had. I was able to enjoy a variety of delicious dishes, the mimosas were a great value, and the restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful, with floor-to-ceiling windows that fill the space with natural light. What I'll remember most, though, is how genuinely cared for I felt. Before we left, Antonio stopped by one last time to make sure I was happy with my meal and that all of my needs had been met. My husband had put so much love and intention into choosing this restaurant, and thanks to Emma and Antonio, we both left with happy hearts and full bellies. If you have food intolerances or dietary restrictions, I hope this review gives you confidence to visit Ambar. Their team didn't just accommodate my needs. The space is so unique and artsy. The walls are covered with beautiful artwork (some of which you can actually purchase), and even the menus are works of art. It made the whole experience feel fun and creative. The staff was wonderful, especially our server Noah, who was incredibly attentive and made the experience even better. We did the bottomless dinner, and the value is honestly unbeatable. We tried the grilled gem lettuce, marinated cucumbers, street corn, hoisin-glazed pork belly bao buns, P22 cheeseburger sliders, spicy shrimp & pancetta pizza, funghi pizza, dan dan noodles, rigatoni norcina, and the sesame steak skewers. Everything was delicious, but the standouts were the dan dan noodles (rich, savory, and packed with flavor), the funghi pizza (crispy with earthy mushrooms and perfectly melted cheese), and the sesame steak skewers (tender, juicy, and coated in a flavorful sesame glaze). The hoisin-glazed pork belly bao buns were soft, fluffy, and packed with melt-in-your-mouth pork, while the rigatoni norcina was creamy, comforting, and perfectly cooked. The grilled gem lettuce was also a fresh, flavorful way to start the meal. For drinks, the white sangria and pomegranate ginger mocktail were both refreshing and delicious. Dessert didn't disappoint either, the flourless chocolate cake (with candied pecans instead of hazelnuts) was rich without feeling too heavy, and the churros were light, crispy, and perfect with the caramel and chocolate dipping sauces. We finished with cappuccinos, which were the perfect ending to the meal. 10/10 experience, we'll definitely be back!

I decided to give it another shot after they brought back their bottomless dinner and introduced a few new menu items. We opted for the bottomless option and ended up trying almost everything on the menu. Unfortunately, nothing really stood out enough for me to order a second time. The biggest surprise was the butter chicken, which had corn mixed into it for some reason. The street corn was also disappointing, lacking the flavor I was expecting. The lumpia and shrimp tacos were decent but fairly forgettable. The dishes I enjoyed the most were the Cubano sliders and the steak skewers, but my favorite plate of the night was actually the chilled udon noodles. They were refreshing, well-balanced, and one of the few dishes I'd happily order again. One thing Palette 22 continues to do well is the atmosphere. The restaurant has a fun, artsy vibe with colorful murals, paintings, and graffiti covering the walls, making it an enjoyable place to spend an evening. The service was also efficient. We were allowed to order two small plates per person at a time, and each round arrived quickly, so there was very little waiting between orders. Overall, I think Palette 22 is worth trying at least once, especially if you go for the bottomless dinner/brunch. The value is much better than ordering the same dishes à la carte. That said, because the menu doesn't change very often, repeat visits can start to feel repetitive. Unless they significantly refresh the menu, I probably won't be returning again anytime soon.
