Our work hosted a large group event here and they did not disappoint with the service and the food was tasty! The ambiance was very casual with a fiesta-like energy. The chips and salsa was good, but the salsa portion felt a bit small for sharing. A slightly larger bowl would have make it easier for everyone at the table to enjoy multiple dips without running out quickly. I opted for the Chicken Fajita Salad and it was good overall and had a solid flavor. Parking can be limited being in the Pentagon City area and with all the traffic. A fun experience overall. After some shopping in the area, I stopped in for happy hour at the bar. They have a pretty good happy hour that lasts until 9pm every day!! Prices ranged from $4-$10. Ten of us rolled in after work and managed to feed everyone - drinks included - for under $250, which is impressive. We went full family style, with the table covered in tacos, shareable apps, and plenty of plates to pass around. While walking the freezing cold streets of Pentagon City, I passed by this place with my family. I suggested we get out of the cold for a few. The place is enormous and didn't have too many people here yet which was perfect. We got here right in time for happy hour with ten minutes before it started. This will be the last time I ever dine at Chevys or any Xperience Restaurant group establishment. I received an email entitling me to a free entree only to find out that the company removed the ability to honor the entree that they gave me. To add insult to injury, the service was terrible. Half the time I could barely get my server's attention. After being disappointed quite a few times in the past (one time last year I actually found a roach on the bar counter while eating) the food was at least decent this time; however, this is the last straw for me. We stopped by Chevys because it brought back memories of when it was the go to spot and the kids loved getting fresh tortillas from the tortilla machine. Sadly, the machine is gone but now they make them by hand. We arrived about an hour before closing and sat in the bar area since three busloads of young people had just arrived for what looked like buffet style dining. Our waiter was extremely helpful as I ordered the mixed grill (my Chevy's favorite). I joked that I like it super spicy and he mentioned they could roast jalapeno peppers on the side so I added them. When my grill arrived, the waiter set it on fire for a great presentation. Once the flames died down, I dug in and found the jalapenos were extra spicy. I loved it! We love Chevys and go here for happy hour pretty often. My go to order is the births tacos for $8. It comes with 3 tacos and the flavor is amazing for a great price point. I also get the carne asada fries which is also $8 and I usually have some leftover to take home. We share the chicken quesadillas which come in 4 and is plenty for dinner for two of us. Drinks are $4 (rail) and $6 for slightly fancier cocktails. I can't recommend this place enough since the food and service is amazing and the ambience is great too with music. They also have sports playing on their TVs so it's nice to watch sports sometimes while having dinner read more

Service was absolutely horrible It's forever for the waitress to come and take an order. I ordered a margarita because the day was Monday. Margarita brought back with a margarita without any salt. I said there's no salmon in here. Why did the way rub the rim of my glass with the salt? Should've been to check to see if there was no salt. Then he brought me back on the same Margarita and Herrand. I just took some salt on the side of the glasses not even around the whole room, it was an awful experience. I won't come back again. Went for an office holiday lunch with a group of 13 on a Tuesday and it worked out great! There was plenty of space for us and still a lot of available space. Great place for large groups! We had two servers for our table who were very attentive which helped keep things moving. No one complained about their food and those right around me are every bit on their plates. We started with nachos and two Fresh Mex sampler that was good. I had a spicy pineapple margarita that was perfect and the pick two: pork tamale and beef birria taco that had a little kick. There were 150 of us and as many of us finally got drinks and food and not even taken a bite they yelled LAST CALL. Like what? They had another group coming in and shuttled us out. Also... This is your standard gringo Mexican restaurant. It's got two faces: one is a local place for the area apartment buildings. The second is a spot in the back for the thousands of school field trips that come thru the area. Our apartment building sponsored a theme night here. I assumed they made a simple mistake and they took it back without any issue. HOWEVER, when they sent it back again, guess what was on it. CHEESE. I lowkey am a people pleaser so I didn't send it back. I plucked it off (but it was mostly melted atp) and now I am fighting for my life on the toilet. The happy hour has a lot of options for drinks and food and there are also a couple of TVs on the right side of the restaurant that you can watch sports. There is also free chips and salsa. Always courteous service and not too crowded nor loud despite being in a prime location. The management and wait staff are all well trained and friendly. The food is occasionally borderline disappointing, but most dishes are average to slightly above average; and I would generally say, as someone who orders at least 5 but up to 10 dishes whenever I go, at least 1 or 2 really hit. Why do I order so many? Because the 3 - 9pm daily Happy Hour has some great deals! Further yet, they have an internal rewards/birthday system; and are on InKind as well. InKind is a very useful value-added application that I am happy to answer any questions about in private message exchange. Crab and shrimp enchiladas are the best non-Happy Hour menu item to order, I'd wager. And the signature Chevys corncakes that come along with most entrees are always a great albeit way too small delight. I think if the restaurant downsized their overhead space, they may be able to focus a little more on food quality and experimenting with new products. From my estimation, the brand and offerings are solid but stale, and need to improve upon its core to attract new clientele. It is an unassuming and perhaps not widely known brand in a space which is increasingly less visible and traversed. This is one of my go-to places whenever I stop by the area. read more

Solid Tex-Max place that I used to visit all the time at when I lived nearby but now I only get to check this place out occasionally. The frozen margs are really tasty here, especially the pineapple coconut margarita. The chips and salsa are good as ever and the salsa has that enjoyable smoky flavor that you don't get most places. My enchilada combo was also tasty and I enjoyed the beef enchilada and the pork one. It also came with a large portion of rice and black beans. This was a lot of food and I was barely able to finish everything. Service was fast and friendly as usual and the bar is a great place to relax with friends. I didnt realize this so I got the street tacos and they tasted alright but took over 30 minutes to get the food and the toppings weren't nearly as much as what was given at the taco bar. Chevy's Happy Hour is what I consider a unexpected gem tucked away in Pentagon City! Visited this location with co-workers and we had a great time exploring their menu ranging from Birria tacos to Margarita flights. Everything was fresh, tasty, and under $20. We sat outside on a sunny August afternoon and found the outside seating clean and comfortable. The service was fantastic and accommodated all of our needs. It was filling, but not memorable for us. We ordered the ooey gooey sundae and it was not at all near what we thought it was. It felt like a very old, dense brownie with artificial vanilla ice cream. Came here on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. I had a few gift cards to burn, so here I am! They also had the NBA playoff games on, which was an added bonus. I ordered their Beef Birria Tacos ($15), which came with three tacos, Mexican rice, black beans, marinated red onions, and consommé. The tacos were a bit messy as the cheese made all of the tacos get stuck. Could have been put together a bit nicer. Besides that, it was a good and filling meal. The ambiance of the place was so much fun, from the decor right down to the music. It was after the lunch rush, so it was fairly quiet. Delia was my server.
