I've been to this location before. This visit was so so. The wait staff was terrific. The food was slop. I was disappointed at the presentation. It seemed the food was just thrown on the plate. The burrito had ro be sent back. The 3 tacos were just okay. The shells were soggy, the beans were runny. The best thing was the chips, sips, and coke. Maybe they were having a bad night. There were several large parties. The table we were sat at was stuffed in between the large parties. I get it but don't stuff people at a table in the middle of the floor. Previous visits were much better with much better food. I don't know if I will try again.
Went to Guapo's for lunch with my parents. I like the menu here a lot. They have so many ceviche options. My mom ordered an omelette and said it was fantastic. Service was ok. There was a bone shard left in my ceviche that hurt the inside of my mouth, and when I told the waitress, she barely acknowledged it.
Never disappointed. I've gone here multiple times and enjoyed everything I've tried. So this time I tried a breakfast burrito, and enjoyed it like everything else. There's plenty of free parking garages nearby so they're very accessible. Staff are always friendly, and the atmosphere is very relaxing and comfortable.
First of all I LOVE Guapos! Stopped in Oma. Friday night for dessert only. The bar area was LIT! They had a DJ and if you know... margaritas at Guapos are delicious so is the tres leches! Service is always good!!
Stopped by the other night for dinner with my wife. I have been here before. The service was amazing the server was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Really nice decor they have that Mexican vibe. Try the shrimp in tequila sauce my wife loved it. Always a fun time at Guapos!!
The food at this guapos in Shirlington is always good, whether you get one of the several types of ceviche, carne asada, asada tacos, chile rellenos, mariscada, or fajitas. The steak here is always cooked so tenderly and seasoned so well. The chile rellenos are ginormous, and actually have a good kick, we prefer the straight cheese as opposed to the carne con queso rellenos. The beans are always bomb here too. The Jamaica looks really pretty, but looks better than it tastes, you need to water it down, it's definitely on the sweet side. Take a few sips and then add water to it as you drink it. It will stretch out the drink and taste better bc it's originally too sweet.
Whenever I'm in Arlington, I can't resist stopping by Guapo's. This time, I brought a guest visiting from Texas so she could try one of my favorite spots. We sat in the bar area to catch some college football, and our server was quick and attentive. The food was on point -- flavorful, fresh, and just as good as always. Another great visit. Highly recommend
Quality food combined with great atmosphere along with friendly staff, makes for a great dining experience. Such it was at Guapo's where we felt welcomed and treated with the upmost hospitality and amazingly authentic Mexican food. The Churros were amazing
The food and service are superb!!! The waitress was so kind and tentative ! We had the chicken tacos and corn tamale! They were both super flavorful! I'll definitely be returning soon!!
Guapos has delicious chips that arrive to your table. They are thin, slightly salty and addicting. The main course meals are tasty but I really love the chips. I had the enchiladas which were well seasoned. This restaurant has decent service but it can become very crowded. Being able to sit outside on a nice day is a plus and adds to the general ambiance.
Came here on a Friday night before a movie and it was bumping in here! We decided to sit in the bar area rather than wait for a table in the main dining room, so I will say it was a little loud but it was still fun and great vibes. This is exactly the traditional Mexican restaurant I was hoping for. The chips were absolutely delicious, as was the salsa and the guac! I got a skinny margarita and it was perfect. I split the steak fajitas with my friend and it was so much good but some of the best fajitas I've ever had. The steak was so tasty and cooked to perfection and the tortillas were substantial. I'll definitely be returning!
We had a blast at Guapo's!! My sisters and a few cousins decided to meet up at Guapo's to catch up over food and drinks!! I should emphasize the word "DRINKS" because that's the true star of this restaurant! Plenty of garage, street, and lot parking around the restaurant. The layout and decor is your usual Mexican flavor. I love the fact that if it's someone's birthday, the staff comes out playing instruments and sings to the table. Super cute! The staff were all nice and helpful, especially our server, Stephanie. She was very sweet and gave us wonderful menu suggestions. I had the chicken enchiladas and they were very good. Great flavors! Someone else at the table had pinto beans and I tasted them. They were delicious! So the food was truly on point! Now on to the star of the day, my mojito! I ordered the strawberry mojito and it was fabulous and HUGE! It had plenty alcohol and it was HUGE! Did I mention it was HUGE?! Ha! For $25, it should be! I love a restaurant that doesn't skimp on the alcohol and this one didn't disappoint. All and all, it's a great place to grab some drinks and food. If you're dropping by on Saturday, make certain to come early, this place gets packed! PS they serve brunch during the weekends.
This place was jumpin when came to hang out here after the movie. The service here is on par with Chick-fil-A employees and that is saying alot. We were greeted immediately and everything we ordered was amazing. The semi spicy sauce with the chips deserves a chefs kiss. I can see why this was the only place at capacity at night they also had a DJ and an ambiance. I've been told Taco Tuesday is the always the vibe but this place is like Taco everyday! Definitely give your late plans a boost with this place.

I love this Guapo's location. I've been here several times, and they're incredibly consistent when it comes to both food quality and service. Every table starts with complimentary chips and salsa, and it's surprisingly easy to fill up before your meal even arrives. The smoky salsa is my favorite--I always find myself reaching for just one more chip. I've visited a few other Guapo's locations, but this one is by far the best. The portions are more generous, the food is consistently well prepared, and the service is noticeably faster. Some of my favorite menu items are the steak quesadillas, birria tacos, calamari, and the sizzling fajitas. Their margaritas are on the sweeter side, but they're also strong and flavorful, making them perfect if you're meeting up with friends. The restaurant is almost always busy, but I've never had much trouble getting a table as a walk-in. The atmosphere is lively and energetic, although it can get quite loud on weekends. One thing to keep in mind is that the staff celebrates birthdays with drums and a song. It's fun the first time, but if there are several birthdays in one evening, it can become a bit overwhelming. If you're looking for a quieter experience, I'd recommend sitting on the patio. Overall, this is one of my go-to spots for Mexican food in the area. If you're looking for generous portions, strong margaritas, friendly service, and good value for your money, Guapo's Shirlington is a solid choice. read more
Guapos has changed so much! The bar they've added near the entrance gets really loud! My girlfriends and I could barely hear each other and our waitress couldn't hear us either because she kept getting our orders WRONG! Anyhoo- we still made the best of our evening. Enjoying each other's company with some delicious pitchers of margaritas and food once she was able to get it right! The menu has also changed a bit and had a bunch of new offerings on there... The foods always flavorful and delicious! Happy Yelping! read more

"Guapo's never disappoints." - my husband, looking down at his sizzling carne asada in pure rapture. The chips and salsa are always good, and I swear I'd come here just for the tortillas alone. I had 3 tacos (Al pastor, carnitas, and camarones) and even a literal downpour on our patio table couldn't stop me from finishing every bite. Service was great, our waters were always refilled, and our food came out fast. See you next Friday night! read more

We did delivery from Guapo's and I was so impressed with how well they prepared and packaged the food to avoid it getting soggy. We ordered chips and salsa, a chicken quesadilla, a side enchilada, and side taco. We were shocked with how plentiful the chips and salsa were, and were so impressed that they kept the meat separate from the taco shell so it didn't get soggy. It's exactly what we wanted and we're very happy with our choices. read more

Very average food and drinks. Was okay! Also seems like they were cutting corners on things. They gave free table chips that were paper thin and tasted inedible, but used using a different chip for their nachos and other items. Never seen that. read more

Coming from Texas, I'd say it is hard to find a good Mexican place around DMV, this is one of the better spots tho. The atmosphere is great, and the service was very hands-on. They offer bar, indoor, and outdoor seating, and with how spacious the place is, it's perfect for big groups. The food was satisfying! The salsa had good flavor and a nice kick (could use a bit more heat to be perfect). The sizzling beef and shrimp felt like eating a molcajete dish--just without the sauce. We also took home the mango cheesecake, which was good, but I wish they used mango jam or purée instead of the jelly-like topping. Overall, we enjoyed every bite, and I bet it would be even more fun to come back at night! read more

Guapos is our go-to in Shirlington even with so many other restaurant options nearby. The steak taco salad has my daughter in a chokehold so we keep coming back. Always great service, always quick food service, always unlimited chips and salsa, and always delicious food at a good price. read more
I've eaten at Guapo's Shirlington a few times over the past year, despite having only been once or twice before for drinks only. I really like it and this type of Mexican cuisine is not really my favorite. The staff are amazing. Very friendly and attentive, despite it being constantly busy, and that definitely adds to my enjoyment of Guapo's. I also like that I can delivery from them later than a lot of other places in Arlington, which is helpful. The lively atmosphere is also fun. The margaritas are strong and delicious, so that is much appreciated. I love the vegetable fajitas. They actually give you a variety of vegetables, which are all perfectly grilled/charred and not just thrown on the skillet, unlike some other places. They thought the put into the dish is noticed. It's become my go-to order. My companions have all enjoyed their dishes as well. I like their chips and salsa. I've also had one of their ceviches and it was good. I'm very glad I've given Guapo's a chance and am always down to return. read more
Had my first ever experience at Guapo's with some friends for brunch and it may be my new favorite Tex-Mex spot! We started off with some brunch drinks. I had a spicy Bloody Mary and it was fantastic. Not too tomato juice tasting and not so spicy it ruined my tongue! My friends had a Piña Colada that was amazing - not too watered down and just enough alcohol. The other two had one of their juices that were on special for a few $$ less than the menu price. They both said they were delicious! We shared the white queso that was very very good along with their table salsas. One salsa was a standard tomato salsa and the other was a bit smokier. Mixed together? Even better! I opted for the family recipe waffles with fresh berries and I was not disappointed. Unlike any other waffle I've had. My friends had the taco dish, opting for hard shell over soft flour, as well as the cheese enchiladas. Everyone cleaned their plates! Their menu had so much more of like to come back and try! read more

Expect it to be packed!! But even so, we had a party of 6 and were told it'd be a 45 minute wait, they were able to seat us in 15! Super fast service and our waitress was so kind and helpful. We really had such a great experience here. All of the staff was very on top of refilling chips and salsa, topping off water, clearing plates, etc. Food came out hot and accurate to our orders. All delicious!! Highly recommend coming here read more
First time coming to Guapo's with my baby. It's kind of cramped on the inside and outside if you're coming with a stroller. I also didn't care for how loud they play the birthday song on the drums. I had to put my baby's noise cancellators on twice when they got too close with their drums. The food and drinks were very delicious. Great time, don't recommend bringing baby. read more

Samantha always takes good care of us when we stop by this location. I went for the tacos lunch special and it was truly delicious. Everything was well seasoned and the portions were a great size. This is my least favorite location for drinks, the mezcal mule wasn't smoky, it almost tasted like it had been watered down. I opted for a margarita, and it tasted more like syrup than anything else. I'd definitely be back for food, but I think I'll skip the drinks on my next trip. read more

Honestly, I love Guapo's. I had a nice intimate, solo lunch on the side patio today and it was lovely. The staff members were incredibly attentive. The food was good (note: it was good - it was not exceptional - I spent a lot of time in Cali.... Mexican food is different there... the five stars is for the overall experience that I consistently have here). Today, I ordered the chicken enchiladas, and sangria. Of course, they blessed your girl with free chips and salsa. And you know what I noticed today? The roasted salsa is actually served warm. I did not notice that the first time. It was great. I definitely like the chunkier salsa a little bit better, because the roasted just doesn't have the exact flavors that I look for and a roasted salsa, but I appreciate them both and I like to actually mix them. Enchiladas: very good. Green sauce could be a little greener, meaning, having more of a true tomatillo flavor. But good overall. Portion size: good. Again, the chips and salsa are bottomless and free. And, even though the thought of two enchiladas seems small, they are actually pretty full and pretty filling. Plus, they are served with rice and beans. You can sub and get double rice if that's your thing. Sangria: good. Pretty basic red wine mixed with fruit. I definitely had a little bit of a buzz after drinking a regular, but the large is 24 ounces and might be what I get next time. Lol. Vibes: i'm telling you, I really appreciated my time on the patio. I didn't realize how peaceful it was. Even with relatively loud Latin music playing in the background, it was so calm and I was able to work there for a couple of hours while enjoying a nice lunch. I will be back. Oh, I have used the bathrooms here before and they were relatively clean. They have Wi-Fi. And yes, you can tap/use your digital wallet to pay at the table. read more
