I generally don't post negative reviews because I know the food service industry is challenging. This isn't meant to be an attack on the restaurant, but I do want to share our experience. We arrived at 4:03 p.m. and left by 4:46 p.m. Our plan was to relax at the bar, enjoy happy hour margaritas, have appetizers, then dinner while watching the soccer match--a leisurely vacation evening. The hospitality, unfortunately, was lacking. Although our bartender wasn't rude, she seemed to be in a constant rush to get us to order, despite the restaurant being relatively quiet with only a few tables occupied. We even mentioned that we were hoping to enjoy a slow, relaxing evening, but we still felt hurried throughout our visit. The happy hour margaritas were very lime-forward with very little tequila. We switched to a regular menu margarita ("The Perfect"), but even that tasted weaker than expected. As tequila fans, we were disappointed. We also found the food to be far from authentic Tex-Mex. Having lived in San Antonio, I realize that's a high standard, but this didn't come close to what we expected. In the end, we asked for our food to go and left. We found another restaurant where we could relax and enjoy the kind of hospitality we had been looking for. I don't enjoy leaving critical reviews, but this was a disappointing experience, and unfortunately, I can't recommend it. read more

We're honestly surprised Dos Amigos is reviewed as well as it is. We didn't really enjoy anything. To start, the margaritas use mix. I ordered one without seeing that on the menu, and it gave me a stomach ache, so I didn't even finish it. The guac was overpriced for the portion and too chunky. There was hardly any avocado and way too much onion. It's an easy way to charge more for less because it looks like there's more than there actually is. The soup and steak were fine. Not bad but not great. Normally I like to try flan and/or churros when we go to a new Mexican restaurant, but we were so underwhelmed with the food, we didn't bother. There are so many great Mexican restaurants in the area, and I'd recommend any of those instead. read more

Came here after a massage in the area after looking on Yelp. Decided to stop in after I saw happy hour was still going after 6pm. I had two margs, a frozen strawberry margarita and a spicy margarita although the frozen strawberry was still my fav. I had a shrimp enchilada with seafood sauce on top and it was amazing. I had to save the other one for my partner so she could indulge in one as well. I will certainly be back with friends. This food was truly amazing and big shoutout to Douglas. read more

We like coming into Dos Amigos for the atmosphere but we do wish they'd make some modifications. Onions are a fantastic complimentary ingredient in any dish but we find the food here, particularly the pico and salsa to be so onion heavy that we don't enjoy them. The margaritas are ridiculously weak and made from the absolute sweetest mix. Even the "skinny" margarita is so sweet it's hard to drink. I don't mind spending money on a cocktail but $21 for premade cup of sugar water is hard to take. Most of the servers are great, one of them is not great and her aggressive behavior stresses us out. We do like the restaurant and the menu has some good aspects. Hope to see them figure out the kinks. read more

Rating as a bar only Came here specifically to get some margaritas and some chips and salsa with guac. The Margarita's were the house margarita which was quite tasty where the recipe they use has a heavy dose of sour mix instead of pure lime juice. This type of drink basically let's the sour mix stand out versus the agave notes of the tequila which is a nice change up to what I am used to drinking. As a small gripe, my Margarita probably could've used a tad more tequila as it lacked the punch that I was looking for in my drink. Having said that I could drink these margaritas all day long as they were that tasty! The facility itself is quite nice with both indoor and outdoor dining where we took full advantage of the outdoor dining on this nice day. Staff was very friendly and talkative, which I liked, with great follow up as well and seems to be a strength of this business. Overall, we really enjoyed our drinking excursion at this establishment. The outdoor patio on a nice day with the quality of the drinks they serve is hard to beat. read more

Get the flautas!!!!! I cannot emphasize this enough, they are my favorite thing on the menu so far. I had one of each, chicken and steak, and they were awesome. Wish I had room to eat more! The steak was my favorite, it was tender and savory and cheesy and delicious. He enjoyed the chicken and shrimp fajitas, which were seasoned perfectly. We also really loved the queso with chorizo. The chorizo added so much to the already very yummy queso. If you order the grande margarita, be prepared, it is properly grande. I enjoyed the mango and he loved the jalapeño. This place is so good! There food is fantastic. I came here for dinner with some friends. They readily provided chips and salsa at the table, which is free. The chips came in hot. I got the fajita taco salad with grilled shrimps, , which was great. My other friends got some form of a salad, enchiladas and fajitas. The tacos were delicious and very fulfilling. I couldn't finish them and had to box one of them. Of course, the tacos came with your typical free chips and salsa. Food wise, it was enough-more onions than anything else with my fajitas (and I used every last one!). The accompaniment of sour cream, avocado and tomato I would refer to as "a smidge".
