Had the pleasure of stopping here on a Food Tour of Old Town. Glad that it was one of our stops. Vibe is casual, bright & lively, nice dining area with a Bar. Our Server was Javier, friendly and on it. The Chips & Salsa was the starter, chips were light, tasty and served with two types of salsa. Mild & one more for the heat seekers. The mild was served warm, the hot one - no idea- LOL. Second round was Mexican ceviche, I was leery as I am not a fan of most of the ingredients. I was pleasantly surprised as it was delicious and was the dish that will bring me back. WOW !!! We wrapped up with delicious fish tacos. Overall a great experience and will be back, and definitely will partake of one of thier margaritas. They looked amazing !!!
I decided to treat myself to some bites and drinks after returning from vacation. Wanted some seafood options which is what brought me here. It was not at all busy. I arrived late afternoon post brunch. I opted to sit at the bar which was pretty empty but all the seating options were open. I was greeted by the bartender right away. I ordered food and drinks and everything arrived pretty quickly. The decor was bright and vibrant and the staff was zeu friendly. Food was really good too! I need to go back and try many other options on the menu soon!
Urbano 116 came through for an unexpected Thursday night out at the end of our walk. We grabbed a table outside, and even though it was pretty busy, the service never skipped a beat. Our server was quick, friendly, and kept things moving without making us feel rushed. They actually have a true happy hour menu. Not one of those "$1 off" situations, but legit deals across both food and drinks. Everything we ordered hit. The margaritas were refreshing, well-balanced (not overly sweet), and definitely did the job. For food, we kept it classic. The tacos were simple but flavorful, with tender, well-seasoned meat and fresh toppings that didn't overpower anything. The nachos were good but in my opinion, the portion size wasn't worth $11. Everything tasted fresh and came out hot, which I always appreciate, especially during a busy service. The vibe outside really pulled it all together. It's one of those spots that feels lively without being chaotic...perfect for catching up, people-watching, or just unwinding after a long day. You can tell it's a go-to neighborhood spot for a reason. I'd definitely come back--especially for another round of margaritas and to try more of the menu.
Stopped in here during a stroll through Old Town. It's very colorful inside with ceiling decor, bright lights, and paintings. We were immediately seated and handed menus. I didn't have an appetite, so opted to get a steak fajita salad while my friend ordered the shredded beef burrito. They gave complimentary tortilla chips with two types of salsa. One was smoky while the other was a bit spicy. The chips were freshly made, and very light. Our food was spectacular. I asked for my steak to be medium well, and it was cooked perfectly. The salad was so fresh, and the steak absorbed the tanginess of the dressing. There was avocado, cheese, and fajita peppers mixed in. It was just great!! My friend really enjoyed her dish too, and cleaned her plate, lol. Service was great as well. While we were there, several members of their team stopped by our table to check in and make sure we were taken care of. Would definitely recommend.
We loved our ceviche.. it was unique and really tasty! We also had another small plate of fish. Yum! Our drinks were also tasty! The place was packed and loud! But staff was friendly and it's a fun vibe!
Friends and I popped into Urbano for a quick happy hour drink. The staff were friendly. The red sangria on happy hour was delicious. Other than the chips and salsa we were given, we didn't indulge in food. We did see a massive margarita--may have to go back just to try it.
Good drinks! We sat outside and drank Lalo margaritas which were nice and strong. I had the fajitas and we celebrated a huge shot of tequila for national tequila day! The service was good. I'll def be back.
As long as I've been visiting Old Town for lunch, dinner, happy hour and brunch I can't not believe I have never been to Urbano (yes, I know I have to do better lol). My friend wanted to grab drinks and a quick bite to eat after work and suggested we try Urbano. Let me just say since my first visit we've been back 3x already. The service is always friendly and fast and the happy hour menu food selection is top tier. We always order the Happy Hour Platter which gives you a little of everything - Wings, Queso, Guacamole, Tacos and Taquitos. Like seriously what more can you ask for on a happy hour menu. The food always comes out hot and fresh and is delicious. I think it's safe to say we've found our new go to happy hour spot in Old Town Alexandria. I'm pretty sure we will be back in the next week or so to enjoy the platter and a couple of margaritas.
While strolling through Old Town Alexandria on my husband's birthday, he chose where we would eat. He chose this restaurant and it was a pretty good choice. The chips that come with the table were good and -- being a person that cannot do spicy food -- I appreciated that the salsa was good and NOT spicy! He had the spinach and chicken enchiladas and said they were pretty good. I had 2 soft tacos that were OK. The rice and beans were kind of bland. The margaritas also were not that great. The service here was outstanding and they do offer a military discount. The decor was quite interesting making for a laid-back and relaxed atmosphere.
Urbano is a great, reliable lunch spot! The service is attentive and friendly and the food is yummy and consistent. It won't knock your socks off, but it's always good! My husband and I came in on a Saturday for lunch and were able to be seated immediately. We each got margaritas on the rocks. I thought my passion fruit one was a bit sweet, but my partner loved his pineapple one. He got the chimichanga and I got the birria tacos and we were really happy with our lunch! $90 with tip, so a but expensive, but that's only because we did speciality margs. We'll be back!
Stopped by on a Thursday for thirsty Thursday! Queso and food were great. I had the 2 item combo with the beef chimichanga and carnitas enchilada and they were both excellent. He had the three item combo with a crispy chicken taco, a beef chimichanga and a ground beef enchilada. All were wonderful. First round of drinks was amazing, we had the classic marg. Second round of drinks was weird, almost as if they were made by someone who hadn't made a margarita before. Nevertheless, we've had the drinks here many times and have usually enjoyed them. Great service and good vibes.
I like the pedestrian-only stretch of King Street in Old Town. It affords the opportunity to peek at what diners are eating in the restaurant outdoor sections along the row. But to be honest, most of these restaurants are unremarkable. The one exception, I would offer, is Urbano. It's decidedly different that the glorifed bar food that surrounds it. We've eaten inside once and three times outside. This is a good time of the year to grab an evening bite at Urbano. Even if the weather is glorious, the tourist season has not quite started, and you can get seated quickly. Service is usually excellent, but on our latest visit our server disappeared for an awful long time at the end of our meal, making us wait forever to ask for our check. My favorite dish is the Elotes Locos, which are three sections of corn on the cob on a stick sprinkled with queso fresco cheese and chili salsa. These are delicious. I like the quesadillas. As default, they will stuff lettuce and a red sauce into the quesadilla. For me, I enjoy them best with just cheese and meat. The slightly smokey chicken wings are excellent. It's not something I would order, but JP liked the fajita salad that comes with either steak or chicken. Your meal comes with complimentary tortilla chips and two dipping sauces.
I got the chicken birria tacos which were great. I always see it made with pork so I was really glad they had a delicious chicken version. The green dipping sauce was good, but maybe next time I would ask for the red just to try that. My cousin got the chicken salad it was plain just grilled chicken over iceberg lettuce :/. I would definitely go back just don't recommend the salad. We couldn't find the waiter but it was all good. Food came out relatively quick. We stopped at this restaurant after walking along the shops and it was perfect.

I came here with a group of girlfriends for a pleasant Sunday evening. We sat outdoors because the music indoors was too loud to hear each other talk - but the patio was lovely. We started with the standard chips and salsa, and the two salsas were unique and delicious. Added queso and gobbled up almost 3 baskets of chips between us - delicious. The mojitos were strong and the margs were pretty good. My vegetarian dinner companion found plenty of options and enjoyed her black bean burrito (get the white rice instead of Spanish rice). I had the seafood burrito, which was good but very rich and I could barely finish it (though that could have been the 3 baskets of chips). Our server let us stay out chatting well into the evening. My family waited for 25 minutes before getting our food. My son got his Sprite taken away from him mid sip to get a refill. But my chicken fajita tasted like only charcoal. Yes it's charcoal grilled, but it only tasted like coal. Disgusting. The manager gave a shitty excuse for the delay. The ambiance of the Mexican music was okay and expected. But the experience was horrible for us since it was our first time. Never going again. read more

One of my absolute favorite places on king street- Javier is truly a gem, the food is great, the ambiance is great but me and my mom come here weekly just to see javi! The shrimp ceviche and queso are my go to app order, and we love the happy hour too! Get a frozen marg and thank me later read more

We stopped by yesterday for brunch and they did not disappoint. The food and the service were amazing. They sat us down right away in the outdoor patio. The weather was beautiful the King street location is always beautiful and the location has amazing servers. Definitely when in Old Town stop by and enjoy the food and the ambiance! read more

The line at the Irish bar next door was too long so we came here instead. It got packed around dinner time. One complaint is the bathroom which was so small and the door made it impossible if there are a few ladies in line. read more
I had a great experience here. The salsas are delicious. Food was reasonably priced. Portions were pretty large. I ordered the steak quesadilla which was delicious. I didn't order a margarita but my friend got one and told me it is her go-to place for frozen margaritas in Alexandria. We sat outside as the weather was nice. They also take reservations. This was SO good. I mean some basic Mexican entre options, but seriously an overall great experience. We had the best server, who was super accommodating and kind. We got their shrimp appetizer which was AMAZING, I ordered the steak fajitas and my husband got a pick 3 combo, and we ended with some bomb churros! Margs were awesome and it was an overall vibe! Food was flavorless, and on top of that there were mice coming out of a hole in the wall. When I talked to the manager she didn't even seem surprised, and said she had been meaning to cover it. There were also rat traps in the corners of the booths. She gave us 50% off, but honestly I just wanted to leave and vomit. read more
Food was pretty good. My fiance got the taco Tuesday deal that they had going on that day (unlimited beef or chicken tacos) I tried the crispy ground beef taco from her and it was pretty tasty. The shell was toasted to be like one big nacho. The server we had was very nice but made a lot of mistakes - from getting some of our orders wrong to charging us the wrong receipt. But they fixed all the mistakes so the customer service was good I'd say. Ambiance is cool, some booth seating and open square tables. Plenty of seating on a Tuesday night read more

Solid Mexican spot, just takes a while to catch the waiter's attention and the tacos were tasteless without hot sauce. Other than these complaints, there's both indoor and outdoor seating, which is perfect for a place in the heart of Alexandria. The servers were nice and the food comes quickly. Just expect long wait times in placing your order and getting the check. read more

Our Friday group are frequent customers. Generally good tex-mex food but last night was a Shocker. Ordered mixed fajitas and got what could best be described as build your own bland tacos. No wraps, just four taco or smaller sized circles. Eventually after speaking to three people got four more but the whole experience of mixing a fajita wrap with onions and protein was lost. read more

If you're down near the water on King and want some tacos, this isn't a bad place to stop in. They have a nice size patio and the day was beautiful so we sat outside. Checking in, we saw that the inside had a nice size bar, many tables (which were empty because everyone wanted to be outside), and was nice and open. The hostess and the servers were great. Everyone was friendly, and pacing was good, particularly asking us whether we wanted additional drinks. The frozen margarita was good and refreshing. The elote had what seemed to be crumbled Doritos on it. I mean, that's how it tasted. They were flavorful but not amongst the really tasty elote that I'm used to. The chicken birria tacos (never had chicken birria before) were cooked well and were better when dipped. The black beans and the other accompaniments were good. I'd come back to try more things if I were already in this particular area. read more
Stopped in on a hot evening out in old town Alexandria - the air conditioning was kinder than any welcome wait staff could have given us. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. All menu items are in the upper $10s, I know inflation has been hard but a single enchilada is not worth $18. Gotta pay the rent somehow I suppose, may as well charge the tourists. Reggaeton was playing extremely loudly and it was difficult to hear, even though we were rather far from the bar area. Either my taste buds were broken this night or the food was truly nondescript, but I couldn't tell the difference between the salsas, or between the al pastor, carnitas, and the beef. The cheese under the black beans was a great touch though, but nothing standout. After the waitress brought the check, she didn't come back for it. My partner used the restroom and after they were done, the waitress still hadn't shown up, so I had to go up and bring the bill directly to her. All in all, feels like a tourist trap, won't be back anytime soon. There's a niche this place fills, and it ain't for me. read more

Stopped by for a light dinner on a Friday night. It was pretty crowded but we were quickly seated (no wait) and provided chips and 2 types of salsa (with no explanation of what the salsas are). Salsas are mild and tasted the same, though I would've liked them more if they had more flavor or a kick to them. Prices on the menu are what you'd expect to pay when dining out I guess, but it's still a bit surprising that there was no item below $10 - not the appetizers or the sides! My partner and I decided to split the "combo" - $20 for small versions of the burrito, enchiladas, and chimichanga. It was a good value meal, as we both were full after finishing it. The food kind of tasted the same with no distinguishing flavors between the different types of meat we got (al pastor, chicken, carnitas). We had to ask for spicier salsa, which they delivered on (it was quite spicy). Service was fast in getting us our food, but was really slow in coming to get our check/credit card (our server was standing around at that point), so we had to go over to her to hand the check. As for the ambience, I kind of hated it lol. I'm not a fan of reggaeton and that's pretty much all they played as background music. The women's bathroom was also kind of grimy, with toilet paper strewn around and the main trash can overfilled with used paper towels. Overall, I probably wouldn't dine here again, as I don't live close enough to take advantage of their happy hour. There are much better Tex-Mex and Mexican places around the DMV. read more
I came to Urbano for happy hour. Yes I'm going to be that person that wants an explanation for what's happening on the menu. Happy Hour specials at Urbano are only available at the bar. They have a few different margarita options available. There's an additional charge for some of the happy hour margaritas. My drink was an We were offered chips and salsa as well as a another type of salsa but no one explained what the other salsa was. I decided to go with the happy hour nachos with steak. (An additional charge for steak) The nachos were served a little differently then your typical order of nachos. The nachos were individually topped with beans, steak and cheese. I don't think I would order the nachos again. There was nothing crispy or crunchy about these nachos. read more

The bartender raved about the birria so I switched my order from quesadillas to birria tacos. I was unimpressed. Birria tacos are my fave so I rate them hard every state I try them in. I honestly would rate the food 3 stars, but the great service/drinks/ambiance/location bring it up to 4 stars. He made me a passion fruit mocktail which was really tasty but too large to finish. Perfect location, comfortable bar to sit at solo even though it seems a place for pairs or groups so I can't say it's a place "for" singles to meet other singles but it's certainly going to be comfortable for you at the bar given the light environment, and friendly energy/friend groups or pairs. My friend and I enjoyed the time! Go, enjoy!! And take a stroll through the strip or neighborhood after :) read more
Pros: fast service, cute ambiance, good/average food! Cons: sort of "basic" food (if you will - nothing super special, not bad though), and I do think the drinks were perhaps watered down...? I am a lightweight and normally feel something after 1 drink. I drank a large margarita and felt nothing so that was a totally new experience for me, lol. Not sure if my partner and I will return actually, as I think you can get more bang for your buck elsewhere in terms of the flavor/quality of the food and strength of the alcohol! read more
