Have stopped here for food and drinks at least a dozen times. Like the outdoor seating and the friendly service. The food is subpar, except for the shrimp cocktail. To describe the true issue and reason I will never return is that the servers make the margaritas - not a bartender- and there was only 1 time I had a good drink. This place is close to Cameron Station and I'll speak for myself and say that I do have disposable income for a good margarita, but do not have disposable income of $45 for bad margaritas for 2 people. Tried to give this place a chance on several occasions, but won't be back. read more

Nice local place even thou the environment can be a little loud. Drinks are ok. Food is tasty and generous portions. I most enjoyed the pork belly tacos. Staff at bar is slow to fill your drink orders. Good happy hour prices even thou I did not have happy hour items. Place is always full. I visited the above establishment on Cinco De Mayo for my 1st experience. I passed over 3-4 restaurants to try the above establishment. The Parking was terrible, had to wait for someone to exit. Waited to be seated ( no pager or intercom to call the guests), Guests stood in the small entrance to hear our name be called. Once seated, I received menus & waited for over 30 min. to order. Next to my table was a party of approximately 15 people. The waiter seemed to cater to The 1st party ( who eventually left) as the 2nd party ( approximately 16-18 people) who were seated at the same setting. I inquired of placing my order, with Jaime/said manager(who waited on both of the large parties). He inquired about my other guests. I replied, they are on their way to restaurant, I ordered drinks for my guests, myself & a meal for me. It appears the staff was not prepared for the amount of traffic in which they received. Jaimie returned & said he was waiting for my guests to arrive, prior to placing my order & I should have been seated once my guests arrive(he was unprofessional & exemplified a very demeaning attitude towards me). I was flabbergasted. Again, He advised he had people who were waiting for my table & my guests must arrived within 5 min. otherwise I had to leave. Very disturbed and appalled (there were no signs indicating maximum time seated). Friends were searching for parking spaces & eventually arrived. They searched for Jaimie to order their food. Jaimie stated, they had to wait 20 min. For chicken. We ordered drinks and waited over 45 min. for chicken. We Inquired about the chicken ordered, he again repeated all the above, and failed to put order in. Eventually an argument occurred (about the wait time and the amount of drinks order).He printed the check and told me to give 0 tip. Which is the only thing I agreed with. He tore the receipt off, which was half of the printed info. I went to him & requested a new receipt. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THE ABOVE RESTAURANT. If the manager represents the restaurant, I could imagine how he train his staff. Jaimie's behavior was: deplorable , obnoxious, rude, disrespectful and unprofessional on ALL LEVELS!! Food was not good, service all of the above adjectives and the floors not cleaned. Staff did not thoroughly clean, prior to seating guests as they walked over & around the ( food, napkins, straws on the floor). I prefer to give 0 star. read more

If I could give -0 I would. Food: 0/10, I've had my fair share of different plates from this establishment. The only "decent" item they have are their birria tacos. Nothing spectacular though. Service: 4/10, on a good day. It does get busy and they love to choose whom they would better choose to serve. They love to kiss white folks a**** It happens too much in the Hispanic community unfortunately. If you do NOT support (ice) or have some decent respect for persons of color (although this is a Hispanic owned establishment) do not bother coming here at all. Here, they let it be known they support ICE , that was last straw for me as someone who used to come here frequently. Last note, the owner does not care for his employees. An employee was injured on the job and the owner had unfortunately the nerve to tell the employee to continue to work. Thankfully, the employee hired an attorney and at that point the owner had no choice but to starting paying out. I do want to point out, I do not know the employee whom this happened to. I got to learn this unfortunate story through another employee with receipts. All in all, I would NOT recommend this place. Poor quality food, shitty service, and a shitty ass owner. Decided to try this out to mix things up. We sat at the bar and the music was incredibly loud on Friday night. I had the burrito deluxe which comes with chicken and ground beef and my bf had chimichangas. The food was okay... for two drinks, cheese dip and our meal it was $80. I have been here many times. Great happy hour specials, and Willy is the best karaoke DJ! Karaoke is now on Saturdays from 7-11pm. All the drinks are great but the Absolut Stress is my favorite! And yes, they have tamales de pollo (chicken tamales with a red sauce)! Their fajitas, tacos, burrito bowl, wings and combo platters are also good! It's a great place for groups and families. It's best to go when they are not busy because service can be slow but when it's not so busy, the service is great! read more

I popped in here to wait on my ride. I only ordered chips & salsa plus a beverage. Everyone was friendly. They had a nice music selection for the lunch hour. But I can understand why people say it's a bit loud. The decor has changed since my last visit. I will need to return to check out more of the menu. read more

One of our go to Mexican spots for a quick and easy dinner. Menu is large and everything always comes out flavorful and tasty. The quesadillas are really good and their combos are nice for sampling a bit of everything. Service is great. Food is good, but nothing too special and a bit pricey for the quality. What did stand out to me were the margaritas, especially the jalapeño marg. Friday night is Karaoke night. You've been warned. Table for one. It was a simple request. The table I was seated at had beautiful Aztec painting laminate and I was just getting into the ambiance and opening the menu. Mmmmmmm...steak nachos. And then drunks at the next table burst into a bad harmony of a worse song. Friday is karaoke night, aka drunk gringas night. My waiter, Miguel, approached as mild nausea swelled on the back of my throat, "Is everything okay?" I gestured to the adjacent table, "Maybe the singing is like bad beer. You have to keep drinking it until you learn to like it?" Miguel was puzzled, as of to say, "Why would you do that? We have good beer and plenty of other tables." He moved me to another table. BAD SERVICE and RIPOFF with the drinks. Waited long for a waiter to come to our table. Asked for items multiple times and they forgot. I ordered (2) 16oz Jalapeno Margaritas and they brought it out in a 12oz margarita glass full of ice. I ordered the large 20oz Margarita for $20+, and it was just more ice. Miguel the server/manager tells me the large 20oz has 2 oz of tequila, vs the 16oz (12oz really) that has 1 shot (1.5oz). So, basically paying $20+ for .5oz more and lots of ice. See the picture for yourself. What a RIPOFF!! Plus, I had originally ordered the Jalapeno Margarita the first time, I wanted the same for my 2nd drink but waiter made the mistake and brought the sweeter Lime Margarita. Told him it tasted too sweet, he went back and added Jalapenos, a Blue orange liqueur and Lime Juice, and brought it back. However, the Jalapeno had a different tequila and ingredients. They made the mistake and instead of changing the drink, they just took back the Lime Margarita and added things to make it look like the Jalapeno Margarita. There was no bartender there this Sunday night 3/12/23, the waiters were instead mixing the wrong drinks. It was ALL a disaster!!! read more

I have been here twice recently. Service was great both times by the same gentleman. We sat on the patio both times as well. Let's face it-not much ambiance but sometimes the fresh air alone is good enough. Food was better the first time but that was probably due to my order. On the first visit I had the fajitas. The chicken was really flavorful and the portion size large. On my second visit I ordered the nachos with chicken. What came out was a heaping pile of chips, very little cheese, tiny scoop of guacamole slapped on top with some shredded lettuce and tomatoes. There was not much chicken and it tasted rubbery. Everyone else enjoyed their meals though. The kids had the flan after and our server was nice enough to add some ice cream with sprinkles to the plate. Also, they have an extremely hot sauce they give out if you ask for it. It was too much for me but my BF likes it a lot with the chips. Their own salsa, though, has a decent kick to it already. There seem to be a lot of repeat customers here, and I can see why-good food at reasonable prices. I definitely plan to continue to be a repeat customer in the future. read more

For simple Mexican food, there may not be a better option in Alexandria than Los Toltecos (I do like Taqueria Poblano in Del Ray as well). The menu is quite extensive, and some of the dishes are a bit hit or miss, but our go-to favorites are shrimp tacos, mole poblano echiladas, and the burrito supreme. I would avoid the cochinita pibil as I didn't like the style where the pork was pan fried and not slow roasted. The staff here is always friendly and attentive, and prices are reasonable. In fact a tall Mexican import draft beer is just $5.99. Don't get your hopes up too high, and you'll not be disappointed. read more

The food & service used to be good, now its horrible. I have been here about 5 times but the last two times especially this last time wasn't worth the time. I went Saturday evening (6/17/23) to where the waiter was rushing us to order. Once we placed our orders, it legit took a hour for the food to come out. We ordered basic stuff such as tacos, tacos only take about 15-20 mins to order. At one point the waiter was ready to give us the bill but we haven't even received the food. Me & my friend ordered drinks, my strawberry margarita basically tasted like margarita mix. The did give me a lime margarita that was way better. Finally got the food and ate, It took about 30 mins to find our waiter after me having to literally look for him. I asked for a discount off the bill as I have been waiting very long for my food. I asked for a manager in which the manager said were busy what you want me to do about it. I said I am not paying this money for the horrible service I received. I felt embarrassed as the management & waiter did not listen to my concerns at all about the service I received. Until I get a apology, I will not recommend this place to anyone read more

I've been here twice and I've been pretty pleased with my experiences. The first time, I dined in and sat on their outdoor patio. My friends and I enjoyed our dinners and drinks and the outdoor atmosphere. The second time was carry out. I ordered the Mexican jumbalaya. Though it was still delicious, it was different than the first time I ordered it. The first time I ordered it, it came with steak, shrimp and chicken. This time it was just all chicken. The portion was still the same and it was still very good, but I was just a bit confused that it was different. I gave this 4 stars even though the meals were different because I still think the food was good and I will definitely go back. The service was good as well. I will pay attention and perhaps ask more questions about the meal if I noticed anything different. I didn't check my food until I got home and I was hungry So I'm thankful that it was hot, good, and filling. I will update this review accordingly the next time I visit. read more
