I had been wanting to check this restaurant out for a while, but I mean, just never worked out. So of course this weekend after the UConn win, I headed on down to Crystal Drive to check them out! I will say that it is great how they are on both resy and the inKind app so it makes things a lot easier with checking out and if you wanna go ahead and write out some credit card points with AMEX, but to be honest, I don't think I'll ever dine in again for the following reasons... For starters according to resy , they only had one table left for 8:30 PM on a Sunday and upon my arrival there was only one table seated, so I was really confused as to why they were portraying themselves as booked. I honestly felt bad because they didn't have a hostess, and there was only one server there, and she was doing all of the to go orders as well as taking care of 2 to 3 tables... At least while I was there. They were severely understaffed to the point where the bartender came over to help us with our order. I will say the price is compared to other areas in the DC metropolitan area were fair. However, if you go, I would say get a beer and not a margarita because mine was extremely watery. I even had my boyfriend he said to make sure I wasn't going crazy and he said that tastes like pure water. He on the other hand had a Modelo beer and he said it was good. I was excited to try their guac and chips only to find out that it was literally a chopped up, avocado serve deep fried chips. I had to ask if there was any salsa because it didn't come out with salsa... I also asked for hot sauce and they informed me that if you wanted hot sauce, it was $1.50 and that they didn't have your traditional hot sauces. We did order several different tacos, ranging from the birria taco to the Carne Asada and a few others and I can't remember off the top of my head, but I do recall having a deep-fried fish taco also. The food was extremely greasy and warm to touch. If I had to pick my favorite out of all the tacos, I tried... I would say the birria even that was a bit too oily for my liking. We also tried both of the desserts which were the Tres leches and the churro. The churros were served with dark chocolate, and the Tre leches cake was served with poppy seeds on top. It wasn't your traditional style dresses, but it was pretty decent. I really wanted to like this place, but it was a very underwhelming experience with poor service and very mediocre food. I think if you're going to say you only serve tacos, then those tacos have to be mind blowing delicious and they just did not hit the nail in the head that night for us.

I was excited to finally try this place as I often pass by it to go to Alamo movie theatre. I came during happy hour which includes deals on beer and margaritas, additionally it was Taco Tuesday so the tacos were BOGO. -Spicy margarita-$9 (It was alright nothing special but I guess decent for the deal) -Guacamole- Really good!! -Tacos (Beef Birria, Baja Crispy Fish, Al Pastor, and Beef Ribeye) *The Birria and the Al Pastor tacos were my favorite! The service could be improved as no explanation was provided about happy hour or Taco Tuesday until I asked. I had to ask for water which I realized once I saw everyone else at the table with a bottle, but then the water was just in a bottle and it was room temperature (with no ice or any bottled options given) with food floating in it.

I wanted to like Tacombi after visiting NY locations and this one but I'm consistently not impressed with the food. The tacos prices are pretty steep for the quality. The Al Pastor taco was so dry and the fish taco was just okay - pretty bland overall. Service is always friendly and the restaurant has a great indoor-outdoor feel which is great for the warmer months but I wouldn't recommend if you're seeking authentic tacos.

I was shocked to see that at the time I'm writing this, the overall rating is under a 4.0. Mind blown because my husband and I loved this place! The only reason I'd personally consider lowering my rating (but it wasn't worth it to me), is because the wait was long, and the parking in the area is pretty rough. However... those didn't stand out to me enough once we had our food and drinks :D I loooooved their birria tacos, esquites, and the options they had for drinks. If I lived closer, I would absolutely be here much more frequently. The ambiance is also so cute, unique, and stylish!

Food is good but overpriced. A "large" guacamole and one bag of chips costs $18 lol the girl asked if I wanted salsa, I said yes please and it was sent with no salsa. So for $20 total you can get an actual small sized guacamole with one bag of chips no salsa lol

Tacombi in Arlington is a fun spot for a casual taco night, and their Taco Tuesday deal (buy one taco, get one free) makes it worth it. The steak and shrimp tacos were my favorites -- super flavorful and fresh. The drinks are decent but didn't totally wow me. Still, a great vibe and a solid pick for tacos in the area! Service is always pretty attentive too.

The venue is so pretty, I like the street taco flair, the steel chairs and the light decor. The venue seems wheelchair friendly, including the bathrooms which I thought was tasteful. Looking past the gentrification of the Mexican street Taco, I enjoyed the vibe and the food. The tacos were really good! Salsa too. The tostada also so yummy! I also felt I had a kind and thoughtful server that did the best they could. I had to be asked if I'd been helped after being seated by the host. 1st communication issue. Then, a runner brought my drink without the agave shot and tasted so off but I didn't know why, until I realize people are getting served a little shot with their drink. I had to then ask for it from the server, making them figure it out because the runner or the bar tender messed up, making them work harder than they have to, which is Issue number 2. I had to follow up about our appetizer because it never came. our appetizer came after we finished the dinner tacos. Issue number 3. I wanted to love this place but the service operation needs work, it's evident that the communication across the team isn't streamlined. If you are serving Michelin grade tacos, I'm expecting quality in the restaurants operations. Unfortunately that doesn't match up here.

Wanted tacos on a Tuesday and figure I finally try TACOMBI located next to Alamo theaters in Crystal City, VA. ***Happy Hour & Taco Tuesday Specials/Deals*** There's garage parking available since there's limited street parking nearby. I love the design and cleanliness of this place. Very vibrant and great size plus taco vibes for sure. The customer service was decent, I actually got amazing service from the host more than my waitress which was odd but I am thankful the lady went above and beyond since it was hard getting assistance at first. I wish I knew her name because since deserves to be recognized. SINALOA SHRIMP TACOS On Tuesday's, tacos are BOYO (Buy One, Get One FREE). I love this deal honestly since tacos are around $4.98 up to $8.98 each. The shrimp tacos came with sliced avocado (my favorite), melted cheese, onions and shrimp. This was extremely flavorful and cooked exactly the way I love. Originally I ordered 2 but then end up getting an extra 2 because it was that good. I only could eat 3 though lol. LUPITA PINEAPPLE SODA I wasn't going to get soda but I figure why not try since it's displayed all over. I wasn't expecting this pineapple soda to be soooooo good, but this is by far my new favorite Pineapple soda I ever had and I don't drink soda regularly. The perfect amount of sweetness and fizz, this should be definitely a must try. They also sell burritos, quesadillas, sides, desserts and appetizers plus have a kids menu. Many options, just wish they had fajitas but I'm not mad since they have a great variety of stuff. I'll be back on Taco Tuesday!

Outstanding service, pretty good food, odd decor. That's the sum of it. The restaurant itself looks outdated, and not in a fun-kitschy kind of way. The tables are too close, and the chairs are metal fold outs. Enticing, this is not. The food is a step up. I found this place because I read an article where they partnered with a Michelin-Starred Mexico City taco place, so I just had to try it. Well...I did get the beef...and it was pretty good...but not amazing. I did, however, love the Avocado Tostada and pineapple soda, both of which were favorites of my server. I never would have thought to order that soda, but she was 100% right. My service was outstanding, and the food came out super fast. No waiting at all! I'm not sure what the big deal is, maybe I'd go back, but it's not a priority.

Great service, fun atmosphere. I sat outside on a beautiful day and enjoyed the fresh air. I ordered two tacos, guacamole, and a margarita. The food was pretty descent and the margarita was tasty. Solid restaurant, i'd definitely come back.

Tacombi Arlington is such a fun spot. The staff was genuinely warm and welcoming, and the agua frescas were seriously excellent, fresh, flavorful, and the perfect pairing with tacos. The tacos al pastor were the standout: super tasty, well-balanced, and easily my favorite thing we ordered. The atmosphere and aesthetic are on point too, bright, lively, and thoughtfully designed. For a second, I honestly felt like I was back in Mexico. Would definitely come back.

This place was delicious. As a transplant from CA, I have been having a tough time finding good Mexican food. Tacombi different satisfied the craving. The salsas were super flavorful, and the birria was yum. Lots of different options to choose from for food. Will for sure go back and try other things

At that point it's no longer just bad service--it's a serious issue, and I'm currently disputing the charge. Between the poor service, mediocre food, and the unauthorized change to my tip, this was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've had in a long time. I cannot recommend this place.

I liked their menu and wanted to give it a try. I got there shortly after they opened up and it was pretty empty. I got a seat right by the door, and had a view of the street and watched as the restaurant began to fill up. Lots of college kids came in as the evening went on and it seemed like a popular restaurant. I thought my server was very good. He checked in regularly and had a lot of tables he was responsible for. For my meal, I started with Queso Fundido and that was probably my favorite. The cheese was really hot and very delicious. It also came with three types of salsa on the side (a salsa verde, a chili salsa, and a third one I'm not sure what it was). I did like the chili one. The flour tortillas were very hot and fresh. I enjoyed it. For my entree, I had the Achiote Hanger Steak Fajitas. This was my least favorite part of the meal. I had asked the waiter if they were good and he told me he always recommends it. I didn't mind the sides that came with it. The rice and beans were pretty good and I liked the guacamole. What I didn't like was the actual steak. It was very tough and hard to bite into. What was weird is it was completely red in the middle so I believe it was medium to medium rare, but the steak wasn't tender at all. It also wasn't very seasoned and the peppers and onions under it just seemed to be sitting in oil. I did ask for salt and pepper, but even with it, I didn't like it. I ended up not finishing the meal. Finally, I had ordered the corn cheesecake as a dessert. I now realize they sent out churros instead, but I guess I wasn't paying attention until after the fact. The churros were OK. I would have preferred more chocolate sauce on mine. I wish I would have spoken up because I was actually looking forward to trying the cheesecake. For me the food was ok, and not spectacular. I'd be willing to try out something else and come back to at least try their cheesecake, but if I never returned that'd be fine with me too.

One such place was a Mexican place as my old fav Mexican place on Kent Island (Señors Chile) had great but extremely greasy birria tacos. So I went to visit a friend who lives in walking distance from the spot for lunch recently. She ordered the veggie burrito and I ordered (pic below) Quesabirria tacos (no onion). When we got back I was WOW'd by not only how yummy my food was but how it wasn't oozing with grease! The consume that comes with for dipping is just enough for me personally and bursting with flavor. As you'd expect from most food trucks the service is made to order. When you go up to the counter and tell them what you want they make it fresh! The truck is parked on Rhoside Green Park (sandwiched between Courthouse and Rosslyn) so if you live in either neighborhood it's easy to access from walking distance. And since it's near an Arlington green space there's usually some seating nearby you can pop a squat and eat lunch. Given spring time is approaching this seems more doable. Just yesterday I was driving by to visit the same friend and saw a long line for this place! Most people in Arlington know how great this spot is, it is a terribly kept secret! Can't comment much on how long the line was busted as I went during a time when it was windy (but warm) and it was mid day. When I drove by it was pushing dinner time past 7pm. I love the food here! But since I live closer to the storefront location in Lyon Park I usually end up ordering food from there (review on that location is coming soon)!
