Every staff member at the Shirlington location deserves an immediate raise or bonus. Last night around 8:45PM, I came in for a late night dinner. The only food I had time to eat yesterday. I almost always order online so I have my orders saved. In person, I ordered 2 Migas tacos and 1 Street Corn. The Migas come with bacon which slipped my mind because I have my saved orders that indicate No Bacon automatically. I don't eat meat. As soon as my order was delivered, I realized my mistake. I walked up to the counter and tried to order two new Migas with no bacon indicating it was completely my fault that I didn't ask for the modification. There was literal no hesitation from multiple staff members when they insisted on making me new ones for free. And apologizing to me for it not being exactly how I intended for it to be. Like what?! It was my fault! Completely! But they completely took care of me and even checked up on me to make sure the bacon-less Migas tasted good. I don't expect that treatment every time but it was an experience that stuck out as over the top effort for customer satisfaction. Loyal customer for life. Serious about that bonus... read more

I've probably been here close to 20 times, if not more, so I might be bias haha but I love Taco Bamba! I've tried their breakfast tacos as well as a number of their different tacos. My favorites are the barbacoa dirty style and the taco bamba taco! The shirlington location has an El Guapo quesadilla, if you go I would highly recommend! I believe it's steak shrimp and chicken soooo good. I've ordered online and in-person, both great experiences. All workers have been nice :) read more

Absolutely no complaints about this place. If you're looking for some good tacos, this is it! Ordering is easy online or in person. The establishment is small, but seems to have plenty of seating at the same time. I got my order to go. If you like thicker bread, go with the pita. So good! read more

Overall decent but I was underwhelmed by the torta. Would liked some less chewy bread and a different style of protein (not ground meat). I did like that there was a free coffee special and the staff were very friendly. I would still come back for their tacos which I've had before and enjoyed. read more

Before seeing Sinners, I was walking the area looking for something to eat. I came across Taco Bamba, and I was immediately drawn to its vibrant colors and smell of fresh food. The restaurant is fairly big with ample seating. It was Happy Hour, so I ordered a mango margarita while I waited for my tacos. It was sweet, but you could tell they didn't skimp on the tequila, which was very much appreciated. I ordered the General Leo, Bird's Nest, and Birria tacos. The cheap price point is nowhere near reflected in the quality. Each taco was an experience of its own. The General Leo with chipotle spiced chicken, churros, and bacon bits was exceptional. It packed a punch with its spice. The lamb in the birria was mouth-watering with its flavor, freshness, and tenderness. The Bird's Nest was filling with its Peruvian chicken being the highlight. I think this will be my go-to for sneaking food into the movies. read more

I'm a regular and love the food and drinks here. But, tonights order fell short. My taco was excellent but the corn surprised me. I ordered the Mexican corn with light mayo and light cotija. I received a cob that was only grilled on about 1/6th of the full cob, NO red chili, NO mayo, NO cotija. Needless to say there was no flavor to it. See pics. :( read more

They need to recycle!! Too much plastic: utensils, small cups, soda cans and bottles!! Food tasted good. The mild green sauce is the best.

Staff are just as nice as ever, and food was solid as usual. Now that I'm part of Bamba Nation I'm getting to be more of a regular. read more

This location is hands down one of my favorite spots when I'm craving bold, flavorful food. The menu is super creative with a mix of classic tacos and unique, unexpected combinations that actually work. If you're cravings tacos, taco bamba is the place to be. There's a decent variety of tacos on their menu and fairly priced (although I prefer a $1 food truck tacos more). I ordered my tacos online and picked up my order within 15 minutes. Service is so quick it makes grabbing dinner so much smoother. It's a fairly small, casual restaurant with limited seating. You're better off ordering carry out in my opinion. Overall would recommend the Barbacoa tacos, carne asada and pollo. Totally cost for 3 tacos were around $15. Pricier but well worth it. read more

Now Taco Bamba y'all done messed up yesterday...‍ I love y'all and hadn't had y'all for awhile and was craving some empanadas and this is what y'all gave me...a burnt crisp empanada! And I tried to eat some of these crust because that's how much I wanted it and then discovered that it was a breakfast empanada with egg. So not only burnt, but the wrong empanada. Smh! I'm not going to give up on y'all, but y'all gotta do better next time. read more

It's close to my work so easy enough for me to get to, but if interested, there's plenty of free parking nearby. It's a fast food place so you'll order with the cashier and have enough seating at non-descript tables and chairs. The environment is comfortable enough but geared more for coworkers than family (or a new interest)? Overall I think the food is great, and today worked well as I needed something quick (and good). I tried The Jeffery and found it perfect. The flavors were very good. The crispness of the tortilla was perfect. And the size left me satisfied. So definitely give this place a try. I think you'll enjoy. Apologies for the picture but didn't have much of a choice. read more

My friend and I decided to try this spot for our monthly meetups! I've been in this area so many times and never noticed this place. They have indoor and outdoor seating (outdoor seating is limited to about two tables) but the inside is pretty's spacious. You order your food at the front, and then they will call your number. I tried the items pictures: * Juan Bamba - barbacoa was very tasty. The taco in general was good and flavorful * Shrimp - shrimp seasoned to perfection, a lot of cabbage * Flautas - loaded with the lettuce on top, but pretty decent taste. Next time I would ask for more cojita cheese on top I never asked if they had flour tortillas, I think I would prefer flour, as I am not a big fan of corn tortillas. I suggest trying the sauces they offer, a lot of the tacos do not come with a sauce, but they need it. Just seems as if something is missing. Will I come back? definitely! I want to try the other taco options they provide! * Mexican Street Corn - good taste, sweet corn, I wish they were shorter cobs, because they can get very messy. read more

The workers are at the heart of that experience. They move fast, but not in a rushed or careless way--there's rhythm to it. You can tell they've done this a hundred times, yet they still treat each order like it matters. Whether they're calling out names, assembling tacos with precision, or cracking a quick joke with a regular, they bring a kind of authenticity that can't be trained. It feels real, like they actually enjoy being part of the chaos. Behind it all is the owner, whose vision shows up in every detail. The menu isn't safe or predictable--it's creative, sometimes unexpected, and clearly built by someone who understands food on a deeper level. There's a sense that risks are encouraged, not avoided. That mindset trickles down, shaping not just what's served, but how the place feels. It's not corporate or stiff--it's expressive, a little rebellious, and proud of it. What makes Taco Bamba stand out isn't just the tacos, though they're memorable on their own. It's the combination of a passionate owner, dedicated workers, and an atmosphere that feels alive. Together, they turn something simple--street food--into something that sticks with you long after you leave!!!! read more

Ohhhh baby this Taco Bamba hits! My new taco obsession is the Bird's Hit because it really does hit. I've been to many Taco Bamba's but I appreciate the customer 5 star customer service here! read more

Considering the lack of Mexican food in NOVA, Taco Bamba is my absolute go-to. I used to frequent the Ballston location, but after a move, I found this one to be closer. It's definitely a bit more spacious, and the crowd tends to lean more family/late 20s/early 30s considering the neighborhood. My 10/10 favorites are the Arabe, Taco Bamba, and Al Pastor. It's the closest thing to authentic Mexican fare you're getting in this area, and honestly, the price isn't bad either. The kitchen definitely gets slammed around busy times, so you might have to wait a bit, but I've never been disappointed on a trip here. Bonus points if you grab an horchata agua fresca and a rubia if they have them in stock! read more

Randomly stumbled on this spot after catching a movie and I will definitely return. A super chill street taco spot. I asked the cashier (who was super friendly!) what she suggested since it was my first time and I went with her suggestion of the Red and Camaron Taco and I loved them both! You can tell the taco was fresh! I also tried the churros which were delicious too! They did have other items besides street tacos, if that's not your thing. I definitely recommend this spot! read more

Went in on Father's Day, and the place was so welcoming! Samuel our server made sure we felt at home immediately, checked in regularly , and made some great suggestions for appetizers, tacos, and helped my dad pick out a t-shirt. The whole family was thrilled and appreciated the kindness and commitment to making sure we felt at home. Can't recommend the place enough. The food was excellent, prices were fair, and half of us took sandwiches to go. So good I logged into my Yelp account after something like 8+ years to show my appreciation! read more

Absolutely thrilled Taco Bamba is closer to home now! Went in this morning for their grand opening and it's clear this spot has a ton to offer and a great menu. The interior has been decorated with a specific design focused on Juan Bambo. Since the grand opening happened in the morning, the place was totally packed. The line did move slowly but they were understandably busy since they'd just opened! I expect the line will not be as big of an issue long term. Since it was early, we had breakfast tacos. The OG has been one of my favorite Taco Bamba tacos since the beginning, so I got that and the Migas taco, which was new to me. Loved both. My husband got the Migas taco and the cup o' bamba with birria and we both LOVED it. Would highly recommend this. So happy to have my favorite taco place near me! read more

I love taco bamba's other locations, so shirlington was a bit of a letdown. The good: food came up quickly and cocktails were tasty. The less good: bar service was very slow. Drinks took longer than our food to come up. I was also disappointed in the lack of vegetarian options. With such a unique menu at other locations, I'd hoped for more options here. The queso is also unfortunately not great. The interior is small, but didn't seem overly crowded. read more

Walked in entirely by accident. Tried the soup. It was horrid. Never stepping into the business again.

Came in to try the Tacos and the non Hispanic music (Stevie Wonder) was blaring, the beer selection is all IPA's, no Modeló or Corona. Not feeling the vibe on Hispanic Heritage Month, no revolution here. Our tacos came out some of the meat was not hot or warm but it was tasty. Good place for the you her folks wanting a decent taco. A+ for value, variety, and service staff who know the menu and are able to answer questions. While I could have used a few more vegetarian taco options (though the variety of vegetarian options increases dramatically when you simply omit meat items, like chorizo, from certain tacos), there was clearly a genuine effort to make *thoughtful* vegetarian options available, not just obligatory afterthought veggie items. I'm pescatarian, but consequently eat a lot of vegetarian items and am always on the lookout for good options. Atmosphere is casual. You order at the counter. It is what it is. I ordered 4 tacos, knowing that these were street tacos, which tend to run small. They are deceptive. I was full after two. Largely this was because 1) they double up the corn tortillas - THANK YOU, and 2) they stuff these to the brim with the actual good stuff. At $5, the value was outstanding, especially considering this included sizeable portions of fish and shrimp. Now, the caveat, and the reason this is a solid 4 and not a 5, is that I didn't love every taco - though I'm glad I tried them all. The "red" taco, one of the specialty tacos, was the hands down winner of the bunch. Crunchy, spicy, ample, well-balanced - highly recommend. Also impressive was the $4.50 breakfast taco (breakfast tacos available all day!) that I ordered, sans chorizo, with egg omelette and other fixings. The omelette was huge and hanging out of the tortilla, and the whole bite was very flavorful. I did not love the "Great Big Mexican" taco, which came with a vegan mushroom chorizo and a truffle crema. I appreciate the effort to offer a creative vegetarian option, but it was weird. Too sweet, weird texture. Not for me. I also was sad that I didn't care for the "Blackfeesh" taco, which was a tempura grouper with a squid ink aioli. I love grouper, and I also love squid ink, and I thought it was brilliant that they offered these options in taco form. Being used to food that has been made black through the inclusion of ink - not blackened, mind you, stealth bomber Culture Hustle Black 3.0 black paint black- I personally didn't mind that it looked like a large black poop on a tortilla, though that might be offputting to some diners. However, as a single holistic bite this was just too fishy tasting. That may have been personal preference, but I think it needed some additional citrus or onion or something to balance it. I did not try the guava agua fresca in the fridge case but I love that they had it and hope to get some in the future. Overall, the value here is stellar and there is a really wide variety of creative flavor profiles. You most likely will not like everything you order your first few go-rounds, but that's a natural consequence of a menu that has so much variety and creativity, and is part of the fun, and this also ensures there's something for everyone. Plus, the affordable price point makes taking risks and trying things out very doable. read more

Carryout gripe Hoping someone notices for next time... What my daughter brought last time was great so we got some today. Ceveche : one calamari ring and perhaps two bits of shrimp. Was tasty though. Said in coconut milk, which left me confused, could be the lime juice. Carnitas Bowl: tastewise was ok. But for 15 bucks the protein did not seem adequate for a normal person. Not sure if I should have asked for some sauce/dressing. Butter Chicken Taco : they were running this as a special, was dry. Just grilled chicken, no sauce/gravy. Probably just a random experience. Anway just some pointers to help others. Will be back. read more

I always order from here and it never misses. I highly recommend the El Guapo quesadilla.
